Ruby Wax Reveals Why Donald Trump Threw Her Off His Private Jet | Lorraine

Ruby will revisit all those interviews from When Ruby Wax Met, which starts this weekend. She now she joins us live this morning. Good morning Ruby. It's great to have you on the show. Honestly, what a wonderful series this will be. I loved all these interviews. It's the first time and it's really interesting that you've never seen any of them until now, why is that? Well, I thought I'd see them when they came back on TV, so I had to wait 25 years and when I got into the studio and saw what I looked like. I never thought I was attractive.

I told the producer why didn't you tell me she was so pretty. I couldn't believe it, but it's interesting. I think maybe it was. It's worth looking back and thinking hard about who this creature was running around, so sometimes I thought, "My God, she's having the best time," especially when I link up with Carrie Fisher and you could see it was the beginning of a love story and then it went on for 30 years oh look at it and that's what happened I mean it was kind of like um it happened it was very romantic did you do it?

I mean, a lot of the time you were potentially only going to have 10 minutes with some of these celebrities and in fact, they literally opened their homes to you and you ended up staying for days with salmon and we were watching Carrie Fisher, she became a very good friend. yours because of this, yeah, I mean, it was like I wasn't like that. popular at school and suddenly the prom queen showed up, so I had another chance and what joy can you imagine being friends with Carrie and the mind was so sharp and so bright and I don't know if I would have met her on the Street, but then, Bette Midler Goldie, we're still friends, then Donald Trump, that interview lasted a very short time and he literally

threw

me out of his plane at 33,000 feet, which is complicated and then through my team in Arkansas we had no plans to go to Arkansas, but we found him again and I interviewed Melania and you see her when she's still a human being and well, Bill Cosby, they didn't fall in love, they didn't fall in love with me either.

Women really love me and I love them, but men, it gets complicated, well, they don't like it, they don't like a smart woman, well, Ruby, it's strange what you said because you mentioned Donald Trump and, as you say, he I wanted you off the

private

jet real quick and I remember reading something somewhere. that you actually said that you felt like you were there at the point where the monster started is how you described the personality and even then he was telling you that he wanted to be president and I guess no one in a million years would have believed it.

It was going to happen at that moment, but he was saying those words to you at that moment. I thought he was joking, so I started laughing and that was the beginning of the end. He scared me so much that I started asking probably the stupidest questions he'd ever asked. I ever asked someone that way, when someone treats you like that you become that and it all came out of my mouth, I don't know what I was saying, but luckily on TV it's fine, it seems like I'm doing it on purpose. but it's not that it's really fazing me because it reminds me a little bit of my dad, that kind of disapproving look and thinking that women weren't in their right mind, so it wasn't for me, it was a horrible interview, you know you you feel. kind of toxic like someone, you know, that violence and that anger came right at me, like it did with Bill Cosby.

OJ was easier to interview than both of them because at least you knew he was a sociopath, I don't know what he was. but he lied to himself, so part of him was quite charming and the other part of him just left everything behind, except I interviewed him for 17 hours and he finally started to wear down and then he ends up in a really interesting situation. The way he tries to stab me with a banana, those were my shows, is remembering a lot of those moments, Ruby, and like I said, I loved the show the first time and I loved it because of you, you were so different from anything else . that was on TV, you were so funny that you weren't afraid to ask questions that other people would have avoided completely, don't you look back now with real pride and happiness, in fact, because you were going through a very different situation no one else I had been there I really don't know what I believe, I know I'm not good at sitting behind a desk and like you know, uh, bringing up every two seconds how funny I am or you know, trying to make them into an even bigger icon than they were. son, I'm not that guy so my idea was for me to join them, the pr would say you have 10 minutes and then it's like you put your foot in the door and if I made them laugh or really had a great conversation they would say to the pr to leave and then sometimes it lasted for days um and that didn't happen anymore, the pr are now the dictators and they said that's it, but I remember it. but Tom Hanks is an example of him being a trap, it was a comedy sketch and I told him what the joke was and he played it so well.

I told him it was just that you were working like this, you had someone who is brilliant. the game when you had someone like Trump, I fell, I literally fell through the air, so I loved it, I think it's interesting, you feed off your gas, right? I know we're having a, you're falling a little bit. kind of honestly, I hope we can have you back here in a second properly. I have to ask you about Madonna because she caught you trying on her clothes. Well, I'll tell you that my job was entertainment at the time and that's why my job was.

To make it funny now that the interview didn't go as well as I thought, I mean again when you watch it, people say it's a great interview again. I'm asking questions. She is confused. I'm confused, but could she bet I can? I didn't interview someone when people are breathing badly. My husband, what camera does he want? She chose the wrong one. We're going to make the show fun, so her suitcase was there, so I put on her clothes while she was out and oh Ruby, we're having some problems, don't we watch while we try to fix that?
