Mar 07, 2024

what

's going on guys welcome back to the channel in this video we will be doing a comparison between the

2019

Subaru Outback and the all new

2020

Subaru Outback. Unfortunately this is not a one to one comparison they are different versions but the price is almost exactly the same, so here we have a

2019

Subaru Outback Limited 3.6 R in crystal black silica and then here we have a

2020

Subaru Outback Onyx Edition XT and this one, I guess, is magnetite gray. metallic, it may not be the correct pronunciation, but I think this one comes in 38 6 and this one comes in 39, so it's almost exactly the same price here, so I feel like it's a pretty fair comparison.

Do something like, roughly, something like here's the front of this here's the front of this here's

what

's different and we'll give you all kinds of different angles I'll point out the

difference

s and talk about some of them. I've made a couple more videos inside 20/20. I'll put a little card here and you'll see them at the end of the video and I also have videos on the inside of 2019 if you're interested. on any of those models in a more comprehensive way, so let's go ahead and start from the beginning, there are a few things you'll notice, but I want to quickly point out that that model again is the Onyx XT edition.

So it's going to have some blacked out elements that are specific to that model, so if you get your hands on the 2020 Limited or the 2020 Touring or even a premium model or something like that, it may not have some of those blacked out pieces that they do it. They look significantly different than the limited model that we have here, so I just want to point that out as we go, but as far as redesigns go definitely on those headlights, you'll notice that they're a little bit smaller than on the 2020 I. I'm like about 2 inches smaller. I liked a rough measurement and they're a little bit reshaped, not significantly, it's hard to tell from this angle, but there's a little bit here, it's kind of rounded there, it's got a little bit of an arc to it, but as for the little dots on the front , they are very similar on both and I will show them to you side by side so you can see what I am talking about, also the fog light.
2019 vs 2020 subaru outback what s the difference
The area has changed, so it's round here in 2019 and it's a vertical stack there in 2020. Now the front fascia looks a little different, now it's nothing extreme, a little less long and a little higher in the 2020 vs. the 2019. Same kind of nose tip here, but again, that one is blacked out because it's Onyx Edition XT and it has the black sidebar here where the logo is. Now, the 2020 is about an inch longer than the 2019, but it's not from the nose. As I can visibly see, I tried to do a rough measurement, it didn't really work, but this nose in 2019 appears to be significantly longer than the one in 2020, but that's what it looks like to me visually, but in reality it couldn't be the case.
2019 vs 2020 subaru outback what s the difference
Now, as far as engine options go, in 2019 you have a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder that gives you about 27 miles per gallon on the highway, 20 miles per gallon in the city, and has 256 horsepower. Now at 20/20 you have a 2.4. 16-liter 16-valve turbocharged boxer engine that will give you about 30 miles per gallon on the highway, 23 miles per gallon in the city and has 260 horsepower, so to get more horsepower here, a much smaller engine and better gas mileage here in 2020, but it kind of has a beefier 3.6-liter engine here in 2019. Now, as far as wheel options go in 2020, you get 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with black finish and you get a full-size spare tire in the rear on the Onyx Edition.
XT and then in 2019 you get 18-inch mechanically finished two-tone alloy wheels and there is no full-size spare tire. Now the side mirrors on both models are very similar in the 2020 you have blind spot monitoring, integrated turn signal, heated side. mirror and then also on the 2019 heated integrated turn signal on spot monitoring, they are both manually foldable so they don't have power folding options, the only visual

difference

is that on the 20/20 you have this silver piece here , while in 2019 it only has the body color, now on the top of both models you have the crossbars that you can configure manually and you have a power tilt and slide moonroof here in the thread equipment, as well as in the Onyx the video. it's how significantly wider the rear and trunk opening looks in 2020 now it's definitely wider officially my measurements I got about three inches wider but I'll put the official measurements on the screen here so you can see but it's noticeable here in 2019 there is a much slimmer opening, you can definitely still have a lot of cargo space, like it's not short, especially I mean you have the back seats folded down, you have a lot of room, but you definitely have a nice wide trunk area here, but In 2020, now all my camera equipment is here, so you won't be able to tell, but you could fit like something important in here, like big TV moving boxes, equipment like I have something like that.
You really have a lot of space. There you also have a cargo cover that looks like you don't even have a place for it here, but you have as a cargo net, the same handle system to lower the rear seats in both the 19 and the 20, if you go up to the Touring in on the 20th, you'll get a OneTouch system for that, but not here the neonics xt edition and again that full size spare tire underneath on that model now as far as the hands free options go. you have the auto close button with lock, just your normal button here, this one only has an up and down button, it doesn't have the locking version and then this one doesn't have a hands free option to the extent of like something type movement, whereas here on the 20/20 you have the wave to open feature, so now, as far as other redesigns between the two models, I definitely think you'll notice the differences in the taillights here, so you have a taillight much more sculpted that reflects the headlights more than these reflected those headlights.
Here it's more of a gentle angle with a slope, while this one has some nice sharp edges, very similar also to the 2019 Forester we featured. until last year again since this is the Onyx Edition the parking sensors around the back, which is the same thing, the rear window is a little bit flatter, it's less angled and then obviously this piece here where you have these key plastic pieces are specific to the Onyx Edition , while 2019 does not have it. The ones in this one also have this plastic splash guard that's not between a 19, so obviously the biggest difference that you'll notice between these two vehicles is on the interior, right off the bat, the entertainment center, obviously, the big point of selling the The Twenty20 Outback is that gigantic 11.6-inch infotainment center.
Now, if you've seen the infotainment center breakdown video, you'll know and can brag about it to your friends if you have a 20-19 versus a Twenty20, the actual usable space. The infotainment center in the 22 is the exact same eight and a half inches that is available in the 20 19 in the higher models, the only difference is its vertical instead of horizontal, so it is the same, unless you only You may want software AC controls not to do this. worry about shelling out the extra money for a big screen like that now as for other interior amenities pretty much everything is the same you have a power adjustable driver's seat you have heated seats a button to initiate automatic engine start/stop I have adaptive cruise control, warning lane departure.
Now, one big difference between the 2019 and the 2020 is that they changed the lane keeping assist, like a lane centering assist, so there's a new button that we've talked about. You have all the Same as phone navigation Bluetooth Apple Carplay and/or I don't know all that good stuff is the same dual zone climate control is the same also the automatic parking brake is the same X mode is the same climate control hill descent automatic vehicle holds all of that now the difference is that the 2019 has hardware buttons for that, while the 2020 often has software buttons for some of those controls, a very similar mirror with the start link and the function Auto dimming, your shift paddles are the same as you. you have all the hardware controls for your different security systems, all that good stuff, very similar as far as those things go, so obviously here in 2020 you have the larger 11.6 inch screen, you have climate controls of software. sort of electronic parking brake in the center console area repositioned or repositioned up here ports here Lineartronic CVT right here and then you have the armband front camera view, which is new so you can see what's in front of you besides the normal rear camera and then obviously your ex mode control is no longer here on the center console anywhere, it's here in the settings, so you can change that back and forth with the software buttons, very similar rearview mirror and then seen on both models.
It's almost exactly the same, the only thing that's different is the improved lane centering versus the lane keep assist and how the lane departure warnings work, but those are really the only differences when it comes to the view, everything the rest in the cabin, as I more or less mentioned. Same thing, maybe a slightly redesigned steering wheel in terms of button coding, the other one has glass or plastic, this one is more of a matte plastic, but we're used to seeing that on the Forester and the Cross Track, so they just brought it inside, other than there are some, like I said, some placement differences, that the cupholders are different, the center console is a two-part center console, like we talked about in the Outback video that you have.
At first, the water repellent material everywhere in the cabin, if you upgrade to Limited or Touring, you'll have the driver-focused distraction mitigation system bar right here, it's just a little thin bar that they fixed that used to be very big, but now it's very small and other than that the really redesigned gauges on top just pick out small things in general, as far as redesigns go, other than the whole center console area which is basically new on the 20/20, all right, guys, and that's pretty much it. main difference between the 2019 Subaru Outback and the 2020 Subaru Outback now leave a like on the video if you loved it tell us in the comments below which one do you prefer, do you like the old design of the 19 or do you prefer the 20 20 I would love to have a conversation about it, just leave it there in the comments and hit the subscribe button to be among the first to see our full review of the 2020 Subaru Legacy here in just a few days.
