Same thing, Cedric the Entertainer, he's hosting a series awards show and says I have a suggestion: how about we fill the box? I love that and my favorite bra. I always thought bra was for laughs, but in this movie Jerry means booby restraint device. I know. You can't say that without laughing, so when you came up with this idea, which you tweeted in 2018 by the way, can we post it quickly? Jerry Seinfeld August 21, 2018 At one point I was thinking about a Pop-Tart movie invention, imagine the drunk with the power of sugar Kellogg's serial culture of the mid 60s in Battle Creek Michigan that's a vibe with the that could work what did you see that no one else was thinking when I tweeted that I guess it was in my head that I had this monologue about? poptarts and wanted to see if people would go.

I like that idea. I would like to see a Pop-Tart movie. Uhhuh, no. I never read the replies if anyone responded but uh yeah I was just hanging around and then Spike Fiston shows up. the guy who pushed me to do it, but then it seems like you got the Dreamcast while I was watching the movie, you guys felt this. I can't believe so-and-so is in it. I can't believe so and so is in it and them. You are very good and funny Al, very good, but Jim Gaffigan, you have a very key role. What did it take for him to catch you?
He said hi, I'm Jerry. I remember when Jerry mentioned that he was writing this with, you know, a peak and some Seinfeld. The writers and I had to make that balance of being the friend and not the guy who was begging to be in the movie. I remember hearing about it. Wow, that sounds interesting, but in my mind I'm thinking about finding a way to get into the movie. So, but he was in the movie from page one because you just look at him, you imagine the president of Kellogs in '63, there he is, okay, so Gail points out all the great lines, but we were talking backstage about everything the pop. cultural references that are in the movie the cinematic references of The Right Stuff Apollo 13 Jaws Apocalypse Now yes, you know the Godfather well, we did it in the Seinfeld series we were always imitating movies, so these are the same writers, so it is something that you like to do it for fun, so earlier we were talking about how you were able to do it with real people, not real people, but there's actually a kellogs, there's actually a post, there's a real Pop-Tart.
I mean, you're not exactly Ken. Breakfast documentary burns here, you're taking some liberties, right, we took a lot of liberties and didn't get the proper legal clearances before we started, it's just that in retrospect, one problem we should reveal. Seems fine, kellogs. I just saw the movie that I always say, this is the opposite of Barbie. Barbie was made by Mattel. Kogs had no idea this was happening. What did they tell you? Wait, wait, what was his reaction? They haven't said anything, no, but they. It seems like we're okay with it and they're going to put us in some Pop-Tart boxes, which we take as a sign that they're not mad at us, but obviously we just send Su to someone IX and then sue them, but yeah They sued me, what would be better for the publicity of the film?
Imagine walking up those Center Street stairs on a Pop-Tart sign, but Jim, you know, it seemed to me that there are a lot of comedians in the movie, there are a lot of important comedians. stars 15 stand-up comics 13 there was a lot of improvisation because I thought it was written on one page, everyone delivered it effortlessly Jim improvised uh, Vietnam sounds like a good idea, there were a lot of ads in there, but the script was in there so it was definitely there uh and you know, this was Seinfeld Jerry and the writer of Seinfeld, so they would do the scene and then they could modify something, but the lines were there, so you know, like at the end of a scene you can't, you know, make a comedian shut up so I'll pretend you know Vietnam that sounds like the guy I was playing was that dumb right this is also Jerry's directorial debut congratulations so how's it like first? time director, do you think this is going well for him or things are not?
No, I think it's, I mean, I think also the Seinfeld TV show was a medium for writers like television, so it wasn't foreign to him and me. The question was: Does anyone have the stamina to direct a movie? And I totally had it, but Jerry, when you're on stage as a comedian, you're dealing with a single microphone cable, you just have to make sure you don't trip over it. but then when you're directing a movie, I've been on set once or several times and I see that there are a million trucks, a million, a million things, so how do you handle that not well?
I mean, I don't know, I did it on the show and I said and you kind of develop those skills to handle a lot of different things, this is completely different, you're dealing with visual effects and face matching and scenery, and this difficult movie, Jerry, For you it was a difficult film in terms of writing. No, because it's stupid. We had one. Remember that guy blew up on set. We had someone from the props department lose his temper one time on set and start yelling at someone about the real story. The true subordinate. Yes, and I go.
I have to calm down, it's a Pop-Tart movie, none of this matters, yeah, no, so that was the kind of atmosphere I wanted to create, let's have fun with this was during Co, it really was the inspiration that I got tired of seeing. sad faces every night on tv and i act as a comedian we hate sad faces we want we want to break that face we want to make them smile can I talk about the serial wars that were kind of a thing in the past? and I was asking you before I could. Well, it didn't occur to me, you know?
Do you have a favorite post series? I'm not going to like this, but I didn't like the grap nuts. I did not like them. Honeycombs the only thing I liked everything I liked was Kelloggs. I also love the posts. We really give them a hard time in the movie. You do it a little bit, it's not as bad as oatmeal, but I also love the post. Post is great, bye. Jim, if you were a Pop Tart person, was that something you even thought about? Because I'm, uh, I mean, in my family. I'm the youngest of six children, so on rare occasions my mom would buy a box of Pop-Tarts if I came into the market.
They would never last at home, so I don't think I ate a toasted Pop-Tart until I was 30. I didn't even know they could be toasted because if you had time to put it in the toaster, bro, would you know? you can heat it in the microwave on the side of the box the microwave is two seconds microwave two seconds who has who has time to do that Jerry can we just talked about the end of Curb You were so excited that I got in knots watching the final season How Was it for you? It was tied and not at number one.
I didn't know they were going to be in this, so it was a pleasant surprise. How was it for you? I felt like Larry and I were. ending our lifelong partnership, wow, in a really nice way, yeah, and it wasn't on Kirby. I was on the Kirby hype a couple of times, but that show came off my schedule in a way where Larry was a well-known person that everyone knew. funny and cool, he was, yeah, and he did that show, but he played himself on that show. I played myself on my show and 25 years later we got together.
I thought this was amazing so we loved it and you got it. a big birth let's say it will be next week 70 are you scared about that? yeah, you're 70 years old 70 yeah, get out of town right now, I know I don't get it either amazing, yeah right, and it looks so good, Jim, how? old non-human non-human yes, it's the eighth part hey Jim, I did it. I approached you and wonder how old you are. I'm 21 years old. Such an incredible start that he hasn't slept all week. The price. as a teenager he has five children congratulations I can't wait for people to see this movie well done gentlemen thank you very much please stay here enjoy the poptarts uh Jerry paid a lot for them.
