Mar 17, 2024
Guys, this is one of my favorite

race

tracks. I wish I was in one of those hot rods, maybe one of them in the front row. larry 400 laps 400 miles chris busher denny hamblin in the front row and here we're going to see denny spinning the tires. inside he talked about that preferred line there it is outside chris busher busher hooks the bottom just like he did in his time trial stint and pulls away from Chase Elliot Larson Hamlin fighting for third place well the good stuff I see right there with Kyle Larson. in car five it's that second pace that he's able to maintain now Hamlin will take the position from him down the stretch, but he stayed door to door for about a lap and a half and that's what I wanted to see with this car.

I don't have the lateral strength that we had with the old car in this high speed corner like this. I wanted to see if these guys could run from door to door and they can, because 11 and 5 were definitely door to door. Listen to it speeding up, so you have to start these

race

s with a free racing car. You need to be free early so that things don't get complicated in the long term. The first side-by-side battle is for 12th place. We talk about Kevin. Harvick in those four cars in a previous race maybe this is a track where he can stop some of the bleeding and end this long 53-race windless streak.

That's a great point and you heard me talk about widening this track, he was my teammate and every time he ran well and won those races it was an outside line, no one can spin that car and get back up to speed, making these straightaways. They are as long as possible better than Kevin Harvick's four cars. Now you saw Denny Havilland struggle for the green flag here's some audio from Team 11, it was close, yeah sure, let's take another look, well I can tell you it wasn't, whether he jumped or not, everyone else did , but that's a disadvantage, I tell you.

Right now you are in second place at the bottom, here you are always reacting more strongly to that leader. You can't go until you hear or see some kind of movement from that leader and try to react, try to time the right thing, it's very difficult and complicated. To do so, Kurt Busch had to start at the back. Something Larry discovered this morning that caused him to lose his place. Yes, it was something in the steering and of course this is a seized race so it is considered an unapproved adjustment that sent Kurt Busch back. from the field, he is already up seven places from the back and William Byron, who went to a backup car, is up four places from the end of the field, he had practically no practice or qualifying and that backup car was a park car that they they have been hauling the truck from the fine city of california they unload it every week and just update it good it runs what updates whatever

duramax drydene 400 from dover motor speedway nascar cup series full race replay
I met the man with the speed that he had, the momentum that he could carry to the middle of the turn, most importantly, uh, just amazing job to rfk and chris busher always. uh in my opinion, you know, an underrated driver and always over delivering whatever car he's been in his entire career, jamie chris told me what a big boost it was to get that pole yesterday, a group of team members told him They were texting and he said it was so good for this organization, he also told me that he got to work and did some research on the beginning of this race and that ninety percent of the time, if you take the outside, you lead that first round.
Well, his research paid off. Well studied, yes, it worked. about three car breakaways laps will start shortly here there's martin truax stopping with ryan preece who had a great effort in qualifying starting 13th for rick ware racing but truex on the move and mike talked to him before the race and he said normally he knows what his race car has at the start of the green flag, but with a little practice they had, he said, I really don't know where I am right now, anyone? There was so little practice and then of course two. two qualifying sessions for the top ten and that was it we're racers we're race car drivers man we haven't practiced at all saturday night in a year we're complaining about practice it's just practice man so josh belicky en I'm going to laugh, remember he had to go to a backup car after a practice accident, so in that untested backup he saw some debris in the front of the nine car chase, Elliott could hear that some might be backing up and maybe let car number 11 pass.
Him to see if he can absorb that in his path. Now we know that's not grill tape because it's no longer allowed. So, crew chief, that was one of your main tuning tools for downforce. How do you feel about it? Yes, we don't. We have more tape on the nose, so the way this cooling system is is gone and these cars no longer have the rear track bar, the rear Panhard bar as far as adjustments, so a lot of the tools have been exhausted for the adjustments we can make. a pit stop looks like Chase Elliott, he got the debris out of that nose, so I'm starting to see the rubber build up on this race track, that's what's going to start separating these cars, your handling starts to come into play if you're tight.
They're going to get tighter in the sense that the rubber on the track is slippery and whatever problems you're struggling with in that race car are just going to be amplified. Ricky Stenhouse, they're leading Justin Haley, that's what he was talking about, what his car is. He's driving like behind that other car, he said the wake is so big that it looks like Chris Busher led all 17 laps, the first one he led at Dover and in his first laps of the season he won an xfinity race here in 2015. He's well, hey. 22 laps complete at Dover and we have a new leader Chris Busher led the first 18 laps.
Let's show you what happened for Denny Hamlin to take the lead just before halftime. You heard Justin Hayley talk about how focused the kids behind him look. In this, Chris Busher's 17th follows Gillian right in front of him, who took all the downforce off his car, got loose, had to let off the accelerator and went Denny Hamlin, those fast people that Kyle Larson has moved. Busher moved into second place about seven tenths behind the leader who now pulls up alongside Cody Ware. Can we talk about that trail? How focused are you behind these cars? That's where you see that Denny can move and maneuver his car.
Yesterday's that. wake up behind these cars force yourself to get up high make that car rotate change your lineup kevin harvick in 12th place against austin cendrick both running right where they started joey logano back in 24th place he's lost four places since the start of this race we hear We've heard heard complaining about those bumps coming into turn three from the first turn yesterday, but classic case, if you started tight, the car didn't turn when the rubber went down that you talked about, it's just going to get tighter and tighter. I almost have to start the race a little free, not loose, but a little free, but go back to your first comment, just like we talked about yesterday, some of these cars in practice, when the air pressure went up, they actually pulled away.
From the bottom. that bottoming out is a shock, actually hitting bottom there, some teams had it under control, some didn't, but other teams, when the air pressure went up, that problem disappeared, so a group of drivers from fourth to seventh are running right in the positions that I started to include Ryan Blaney in fifth place, let's go for a ride with him. The first thing is to hear him get up very early in the corner, accelerate before he even gets to the apex and then come back out and then come back to it, that's something that's pretty drastic.
It's different moving at the bottom of the racetrack versus any other racetrack, we're going to be able to push the throttle a little bit. Look, wait, wait, open it wide again, well, that second group that you asked for, a second rhythm that you asked for is. are forming up and it's mainly the cars on the left that are doing it, they stay high allowing the leading lap cars to get to the bottom and here Ricky Stenhouse and Kevin Harvick continue their battle for 12th place. Well you see the rubber that we talked about, the rubber that builds up the race track where it builds up the most is the five eights at the three-quarter mark and when I was concentrating on the balance of the race car and what I wanted to say to Larry Mack in that box for an adjustment, it was all about that part. off the racetrack, that's where these cars take that final charge, they really charge the corner because of the fact that you accelerated early requires a big charge on that corner exit, that three-quarter mark right there, sailing around that and having a free car with a twist on the accelerator is where it's all at and when we're in a shot of the driver, you'll see the driver sink into the seat about an inch to two inches when he enters that banking teammate, spartan truex , christopher bell start. 16th and 17th, each running one spot higher here now, Kyle Busch started 10th and has improved two spots since the start of this race, literally exactly what I was telling you: five-eight three-quarters off. , Vince slides a nose. man i need some adjustments larry and how about our leader danny hamlin, jamie and the group 11 came to play this weekend with no load in the stadium and then during the quick practice session denny really moved around trying to find the best line on the track?
He's told this is the happiest he's been with the race car since Las Vegas, as the five his friend goes in try to take his lead. Yes, I would say Jamie Company is coming, but Kyle Larson led over 260 laps in this race a year. before running exactly where he is running, he is running to the right at the bottom of the track it is an art, it really is if you run at that bottom of the track back to the corner of the discipline big time it is difficult not to overtake the corner running towards the bottom because if you accelerate it, you'll land harder, it'll break loose, the car will come out from under you and then accelerate through the middle of that corner, that's something drastically different and you can afford to watch this. very tight under ty dillon for the lead, that will give Larson a chance, but I think he's going to take the outside traffic, it's the name of the game here, look like this, these drivers are laughing right now, they know within themselves. five laps we have that competition costume so they're fighting trying to stay on the lead lap right now yeah you know the crew chief is in the box telling the spotter everything you can do man that the leaders in your mirror make this car open 11º. place now harvick gets caught back to austin cendrick and makes the move to the outside he positioned it great pass right there is your pole center chris busher he is third ahead of Chase Elliott DJ Mcleod until the end of the track but you see Chase Elliot he didn't drive after chris bush in front of him he moved even further to the outside look at all these guys see he doesn't want to be behind him i need to get there try to run high kyle busch has He did something really interesting in these last two laps as we We approach the yellow competition flag.
He's gone very high up the track at both ends, skimming the track looking for that high groove to see if he gets there now, he's back to the bottom, but I think he figured it out. what he was looking for well and look where he's running right now they're in 9th position no one's really right in front of him behind him knowing the cost of competition is coming look around try to find something now Daniel Suarez started eighth and slides up to 11. As Harvard passes, you know, Larry, you told me before the race, be careful with these tires, that's why we have a competition warning.
We want to make sure our tires are good in a 40-lap race, going high like it's a green race. track on that gray that will wear a lot of tires and we know that a fuel run is twice the distance of this, essentially, exactly, Penny Hamlin is putting some good cars down a lap, here's Austin Dillon and right in front, Joey Logano , the yellow flag flew at that moment, nice. Work man, great work and I think Dylan could have been ahead of Hamlin and stayed on the lead lap, which means the free pass would be Austin Dillon or Chase Briscoe, well you said it, my many good names, drivers renowned, fast racing cars have been.
Quickly throughout the year I lost it looking for some important adjustments at this stop,so this is the competition yellow flag on lap 40 after several incidents in practice yesterday, Nascar called this and Chase Briscoe is the free pass car. Austin Dillon held on to the lead by one foot on the left. and Clint, we've seen it many times here, no matter how fast you run down this mile-long race track, if you stray even a little bit, you'll be lapped before you can blink and there's nothing you can do. Do it, you're trying, you have to be patient, just stay disciplined, get everything you can out of the traffic, that's where you have to optimize your time.
Nine speeding penalties here last year will and can make a difference in a good way. a bad road and the problem is Mike, we are going to have about 27 drivers on pit road for four tires and fuel at this stop and we will also make a lot of adjustments that will change things a lot. Mike Regan Smith has been a good start. the race by kyle larson christy chris cliff daniels asked him how the car was he said it was a little too tight he said I don't want a lot of adjustments because I don't think I need it right now Jamie Chase Elliot pretty good he said it has good handling as he takes it to your tip box the team has been very good the last few weeks they are going to do four tires here the 11 on Denny Hamlin said just a little tight he was trying to put as many cars per lap as he could pretty happy with his car only four tires there and Chris Bush, 17 up in pit number one, a little tight when you saw him fall back. air pressure adjustment and four tires here for chris busher it seems like almost everyone used four tires ross chastain gets a couple of spots at pip road danny hamlin your leader at

taking a look at the top movers there in that first race of 40 laps kurt bush was up 10 positions mom look at this girl look at her shirt look how cool this is I smell victory yes ma'am here's what you want to say you have something inside all your adoring fans out there this is fantastic hey yo I have a little gift for You guys, okay, you want this, it's a Nascar radio controlled race, there was a victory corner, a double pack, look you can grab it, oh now she's happy, look you can get it at Walmart or walmart.com girls . and joy, have a lot of fun here with the denver murder shoes thank you very much five grand to get clint cash playing bets fox super six scan the qr code download the super six app enter your picks on today's race for a free chance to win the jackpot we're going to go green with aj almondinger in the back accelerating coming out of pit road and because of um ryan blaney's tire problems, i think one of the penske cars had a tire that was pretty well tied to regan mike, that's exactly right, car 12 like the Caution came on the radio, he said I think I have a flat tire, that tire was cordoned on the inside edge of the tire, good break, that caution came out on the last minute, Larry, well, it's time for Blaney, who will restart sixth, Denny Hamlin. takes them back to green kyle larson to the inside denny took it pretty deep in the geico reset box but kyle larson on that five was ready for it hamlin prevails three wides in the back almonding are trying to make up long after of that speeding penalty he's on the inside they fixed it but that's a tight quarter of the race right there and here's 7th place suarez off kyle busch these guys had some adjustments know what to expect on these restarts getting a little bit more competitive this time larry yes and It's amazing, we see this every time we come here, we saw how black the corners turned with the rubber going down and then when the yellow flag comes out those hot tires raise the rubber again, it takes a few laps to place the rubber.
Come back down, watch this as he lowers himself into the corner, you can see the compression, look at his head towards the seat, get in there and that thing will literally force you back into the seat, you get up out of the corner and it lifts you back up. lots of g force load here bouncing two very rough going into three you'll see that thing bouncing look at the 18 in front of it moving and those are the bumps that everyone had trouble with yesterday in practice and Clint We did a little research from here, coming out of the wall on the straightaway to where the car loads, there is an elevation change of about 15 feet equivalent to two stories from the top of the straightaway to the bottom of the corner, well I can tell you about 160 70 miles per hour No matter how fast you go up the corner, you feel it and it gets your attention, there's no feeling of moving around this place, so Larry, I've always wondered when something like the wired tire on Ryan Blaney's car happens, how does that work?
Information trickles up and down pit road to the other crew chiefs and what they do with it. Oh, I can promise you that it will spread faster than if we were sitting in a beauty salon. I can promise you that everyone knows exactly what happened there and there. You know the problem is Mike, they couldn't really make an adjustment based on that, now they know we have to be prepared to make an adjustment, that's a great point and that's how you lean on it, you know he would have radioed, maybe Maybe he had a flat tire or something, so as a crew chief, do I double my effort and make more adjustments or do I have to wait and see what I have in store and as soon as he saw that tire, he said, "Oh, I wish I had gone". more, okay, bubba wallace was in the top 10 until the pit stop, now he's 12. you can't wait, you're okay, you find that 75 left pressure will come to you.
I'd say he's loose holding that reset. It's a valid point you have to be able to be free we saw him look at chris bush or it started too tight he fell a little heard boy I didn't like that right there did you hear that larry yeah and it's like walking a tightrope here sprint speed versus speed long race, but I promise you that whoever wins this race will have Eric Alberola five places from the restart and now Larry, the information you talked about is starting to be communicated to the drivers. Kyle Larson was just told on the Radio on your right side that we took off, we're fine, don't worry, but it was 40 laps, Mike, we have to go about 75 laps until the end of this stage, right here, which also I'll tell my driver if you feel anything. let me know right away, but look at this rubber, you don't have to look any further than the rubber being put on that racetrack with each lap, which will help those tires and the top six running right where they restarted, including Chase Elliott .
In fifth I think I could use the top to pass the guy in the right traffic scenario. I just can't reach the attack distance because of that second compression a little further than I feel I need. be to hit, that's the second compression he called, it's that three-quarters and five-eighths mark somewhere in there because of this track and the lean drive and the ability to accelerate much earlier, really load that car for the second time and If that thing doesn't turn, you're in big trouble, it's kind of hard to adjust, even the straightaways go back nine degrees here, it doesn't feel like 24 degrees, but I guarantee you, Clint, it probably feels like that, doesn't it?
It is a track where you rock your car a lot with the accelerator. I want you to hear how it accelerates around the corner. Let me tell you why those cars have been fast all year. See how smooth it was compared to some of the others? guys you saw getting off in a hot rod three very good handling for ross chastain 59

history that had only happened three times before the races from rausch fenway and pete dipaolo, which was then the factory ford team, they did it twice in 56 and 57. so right now hendrick with larson second elliott fifth archer eighth and william byron in a backup car to 21st place in mike those four drivers led all but 18 of 400 laps in that race a year ago caution uh-oh mother nature, let's check in with jamie little on our leader yeah, just a few raindrops here, nothing major since we took out caution here for the second time today, but Denny Hamlin is very happy. with his car now and he led 50 laps today, that's more laps than the rest of the season combined, so it was a good day for denny hamlin, but he wanted to update the tire situation, his tires look good on that flag competition yellow, but chris gabhardt The crew chief told me that he is worried about this 80 lap race here, but he was hoping they would put more rubber and that would help wear the tires down, so we are under caution for a light rain here in Dover, Delaware, Denny Hamlin leading Kyle Larson. and Ross Chastain after 68 laps, that's a Ford Mach 1 Mustang in front of the field, the lights are out and we're ready to go back to the green caution that started on lap 67, will end on lap 83 and look this Monday, the crowd, damn it, everyone.
I was up watching some racing on a Monday, so the Dryden 400 is back in green row in the first three spots, the fight is the fourth quarter and Denny Hamlin on the outside is making some noise and again, that's one of those drivers who chose to get four new tires. under that warning yesterday, but it's no wonder that right now, when I look at Gibbs Hendrick's top seven

sports right now in a green racing shack, it looks like it's pretty much a fight for the bottom, ya that you see that everyone is trying to, you know, do the same thing. and we already talked about that, trying to take care of these tires as well, I need to get down there, get some of that rubber in, whatever you're up there on that gray track on the outside, it's going to clean a lot of tires on this.
Short run and Clint. I don't think Denny Hamlin has to worry about his tires. I think you can run it as hard as you want knowing there will only be a 37 lap race until the end of the stage and that's not a surprise either. who is making the passes up there he was one of those who entered and entered the pits he has new tires kyle busch also in the high groove he slides back a little and is under fire from eric almerola oh he took a spin against the wall I think which is brad not awesome kendrick and another between three and four blocking the brakes to avoid what was ahead todd gilliland crashes and spins to the track platform that turn three happens todd gilliland adapts throughout the end of week like in practice one spins and then here comes another one, it's almost like it was the first thing, man, there must be something in track practice, it was a reaction, William Byron spun right behind him, yeah, we saw Tyler set to become the second guy in practice who did that and saw his damage to the right.
Third rear yellow flag of the race he was already way up in the pack, but look how dirty the track is, I saw him starting to slide, now we are going to ride with Ryan Blaney, unfortunately I just found out that Ryan couldn't. They didn't check me in time and I went into the back of his amused mouth. Pit road will be open this time, Larry, yeah, we only ran three green laps. I feel like if you're one of those front drivers, your bed is kind of made. Don't give up now because we are going to compete again.
There will be less than 30 laps until the end of this stage. It worked out well for the drivers who took the wave at the last yellow flag and it looks like cole custer will get the free pass at this caution flag we will stay away for a moment running monday at dover delaware rocky there is a little spot right where they landed i saw what there was some help happening so figure it out yesterday we did 40 laps the longest one returns now at Dover Motor Speedway under the Speedway motorsports umbrella uh I guess they had a lot of role let's check in with Jamie Austen Cendrick as you saw , he said I just killed the right front, so he lowered it. he said the steering is to the right, they just looked at it and said it was towed two inches on the right front.
They will try to fix this and get him back on track. They have to do the same. adjustment that ryan blaney made, his teammate, but they're doing it for a particular reason because of hitting the wall, yeah you always hear a toe adjustment, thinking about an impact like you're here with austin cendrick, never just bad handling. race car and taping a tire that was a first for me larson and elliott on old tires hamlin on those new tires here we go we'll tell you what a good jump for Chase Elliott on the inside door to door much better than the last one . reboot absolutely going ahead i'll take it that's how it's done guys rewind look at this chrisbusher, our bar sitter fighting ross chastain for eight clear units 31.
I love those on car audio where you can hear that thing you know, accelerating and pedaling. in the turns and keep the car under him, the three guys Chastain Harvick and now Haley, all pedaling into the turn, tells me they're probably a little loose right now, yeah, Haley in '31, they went with two tires on that hole. Kevin Harvick stopped yesterday and at four o'clock they were flirting with the top ten but they chose the pit and put four tires on. Kyle Bush uses that spot for Ross Chastain. Kyle has never lost a Cup race that ended on his birthday, which is today.
Wow, he has two. years two, that's a super six pick, if I ever heard one we just watched, you never have to worry if he's giving you a hundred percent, especially on a reset, he'll get everything he can and he'll quickly 100 starting to to see something. rubber put on this track and just a handful of laps in ryan preece moved up six places from the restart as he battles daniel suarez for 17th place. brian priest making it onto the platform of two starts this year in the cup

in his 15th car seen he crouched down and put his left sides on the bed he really upset that car, easy to do, second, those newer hamlet tires are going to work, but Larson on the outside also saw them at dinner together last night, probably arguing about the bill right now, that's what you're seeing side by side aj almandinger climbed up the wall he got into it yes he did you saw the flames coming out of his pipes eric jones also pushed him pretty high he did it I knew he was in trouble they took him out of the gas it wasn't enough 20 laps to start the first stage denny hamlin to second place jamie and he's had a rocket all weekend denny hamlin we talked to him yesterday when it rained, it's the most happy that he has been with the race car since then Vegas is very optimistic about today and his crew chief, Chris Gamehart, told me that today will be a different style of racing with the sun ready to rise, it will be warmer, It's human.
Whoever keeps up with the track best will win this race and they're sure you're right, Jamie, the clouds are starting to dissipate here over the track, there's still a lot of cloud to the west, we'll take you back. side by side with Chase Elliot leading on lap 101. Okay, okay, okay, oh well you saw Denny Hamlin come right into Chase Elliott's bumper but he can't get up and next to what will make this a pass tough, yeah, catch it in one. thing passing it to someone else and that's what he's having trouble doing, he's trying to get to his outside but he can't seem to get in high, probably a little loose, he gets in low and he's trying to get the pass down on the way out. uh I don't think it's going to happen I think he's going to have to figure out how to get in high turn the car around and pass him oh or wait for what you see right there a lapper comes try to do it and choose to use a lapper as the chosen voter b.j mccloud austin cedric's team made repairs sent him back to the race track but the clock had expired on nascar's damaged vehicle policy and he was ordered to go to the garage you have six minutes to get back to the minimum speed i never achieved to Christopher Bell, one of the seven drivers who were left out and did not enter the pits under that yellow flag due to rain.
Now one of them was Ryan Blaney, who did pit twice, so six of the seven were out and they are all 12th or better with Warren. tires, came back fresher and finally got to the inside, now he's going to make a pass, but I tell you he's going to have to put it out, if the nine can stay at his gate at the exit, he'll still have problems and there. It's these two that finished one, two here in 2018. Elliott was the winner when you race to the finish like that. If you don't clear it right there, you're in trouble.
He is now clear, but if he can hang from your door. You need that space to move forward on the track and if it's not there, that car is on the outside of you, you have to lift the gas and you will stay side by side, frustrating and for fourth place with eight laps to go in the first stage here. it was the kyle larson battle at five he'll end up losing two spots here to chastain and truex hill dosford chastain caught him door to door and went inside check out this look at the career ross chastain had now in fourth place he's the tallest driver in the field that came and got tires and I think that's what you saw too, the right tires gave him the opportunity to go in high, rotate that thing, he did it right away for as long as possible, in other words, he accelerated long before he they. he did it and made a three way pass he says he can't stop us now is that the name of pitbull's tour or is it ross chastain's new motto or both i think it's jackhause's new model for sure well let's take a look at our correct subway combination, the only team ross chastain is team boss Phil Surgery their second season together first in Track House racing first 10 races two wins six top five finishes before this year neither Ross nor Phil Ross has 125 Cup Series starts, but made his first start here in the spring of 17.
Perhaps the right combination to get win number three of the 2022 season. It's pretty incredible what that team has done in such a short time to become two. car team four for stage one we resume the race on lap 84 this afternoon mortal denny had only led 49 laps this season until yesterday now he led 60 laps in this race over the two days hamlin by two and a half elliott with almost a second on christopher bell and alex bowman, last year's winner, here ready to take the last points-paying place when this stage and two more laps are over, I mean, it will be too little too late, but the fastest car on the track, we finish to talk about it. ross chastain in that back and fourth car about three and a half seconds three and three quarters behind the leader danny hamlin brad keselowski wants one of those stage points kozlowski now at 10. final lap stage one second stage win this season and the fourth of his career at dover as joe gibbs racing and hendrick motorsports takes seven of the top 10 spots led by hamline uh Chase Elliott five points for kyle larson four points for william byron three state points for chris busher two for kyle bush and one for brad and Racing fans turn their attention to the track as some of our teams throw t-shirts and throw them into the stands to wave their arms if they want to get a t-shirt.

track, every vote enters you for a chance to win weekly prizes at the end of stage one and four five of the six drivers who stayed out and didn't use that set of tires earlier all ended up earning stage points and even eric almarola who was in 15th place got five places where it would have been at the time of that open caution road regan smith Mike Kyle Arson in the five cars very tight as that one went, especially when the rubber came off the track.
Expect them to make a significant adjustment to try to stay ahead of the track and Ross Chastain in the car needs more front spin. I can't afford to have my back unhooked anymore, although Jamie Christopher Bell in the 20 was a little free in practice, they tightened it up and now it's freeing up again as they continue to run the chase for nine. Elliott shot well overall, although he feels a lot. like it did yesterday four tires stop here denny hamlin's team just blisters at stops lately a fourth tire stopped there the cars got free as they went here's the ram race outside the pits oh wow i got a denny hamlin tire race there's a penalty not sure who it is but that's a breakaway it's never a good sign when you look and the tires pass you on pit road that was a tire that was meant to work and there You see car 11 knew it was a new car that had a sticker that, jack man, well I can promise you this.
I was going to score it for a stage win. I'm not going to mark it now. It's never a good sign when your tire passes through here. Too bad, costly mistake and Larry, that's pretty much the biggest of The penalties can have on pit road almost four weeks for the crew chief, tire changer and tire carrier. Hmm, there's only one in these cars and he had to go all that mile, they could have a lot more, he fixes the problems. comes back with all four tires on the outside, another screen to go, let's review what happened at the Denny Hamlin stop on the front left, yeah, look at that cat guy over there, obviously the change is changing the tire, You see the left front come off, look at the jet guy hanging up. the tire back here hangs the tire look up it's his decision when he drops that car it's denny's signal to take off and leave the pits he didn't really see that left front tire changer whether or not that wheel was there or not letting go of the jack denny takes off he has no nut the wheel is on the nut it's not there and behind him is joey logano's hole and jamie little told us that the nut came off the socket and ended up in the 22nd hole so luckynow came out of his gun and uh he didn't know so obviously it was too late so that's what it is.
I had a good first stage. I got a great car. Long time to get it back. T29 here. 30 left, yeah, Jamie. You just heard it there, we're just trying to stay optimistic, they know how fast this race car is and now they have a lot to think about with the penalties coming in the next few weeks based on the four-time average tire stoppage this year. . Team number 11 still leads the league, well let's go back to last year's car, you had five lug nuts, all five lug nuts came loose, you had five new ones that were stuck to the wheel that came on and we know there were times when they didn't get all of them. tight, we only have one nut, one center wheel lock per wheel and the same wheel lock is reused, the same nut, there is a magnet and a kind of eyelet inside the bushing that holds it, but sometimes it comes off, that's exactly what happened with that. 11 car, well, let's go to our Ford Performance cutaway car to show the single bolt wheel lock again.
If you go back to last year we had a steel wheel, this year it's aluminum and the biggest difference is the fact that of course we have. you have a lower profile tire, you have a three inch larger tire, but the biggest difference is definitely the number of lug nuts, you had five per wheel last year, you only have one this year and you are using the same wheel lock. nut and that's why they obviously come off completely, I mean, that nut just wasn't there, he knew it, he saw it, he tried to try to, you know, tell Denny not to leave, but it was too late, things They happen quickly, it shows.
You know how fast those pit stops are, especially no one does it faster than those guys, so Hamlin will restart on the 29th. Ross Chastain, coming off a win with Christopher Bell on the inside, will be the front row, True X and Elliott busher and byron kyle bush and larson kozlowski and bowman are in the top 10 as they approach the geico restart zone to start stage two truex to second and pusher cross move watch that blue car aiming for third place ty dillon got the bye, he's back on the lead lap and polson or chris busher watch the 17 Here's a good move, Kyle pushed off the bell now for 5th place and trouble getting the bell off pace in the corner right before that yellow flag, we had all four of Gibbs' cars inside the top six or seven, now two are in bail trouble at Hamilton.
I don't know if it had a fire. You think it was a loose wheel. He was feeling something and we are listening to it. The speed of a loose wheel is important in pit stops, plus precision, so now that's the other side of a loose wheel. conversation we're having with all 11, which is the other side, which doesn't happen very often, getting away with a loose wheel, usually 90 of the time this year, which has been a tire off the vehicle and a suspension four weeks, so we started. second stage with Chase Elliott here in fourth place, Jamie, well Mike, we've talked a lot about tire wear, this came out of the right front of Chase Elliot's car after that stop and as you see, this morning in the inside, he told the team he felt the camber was off, something was wrong and all they did was adjust the wedge, so we'll keep an eye on the right front for the next round, that will improve, you knew that on a track green racing after a rain delay asthat.
The tire or this track is tough on the tires anyway, but as we continue to burn rubber on this track lap after lap, the wear will improve. Kenny Hamlin is up five points from the restart, but that camber makes me nervous. Mike, this is a one mile race track you passed. about three quarters of the time in the corners with the right front loaded and that camera that they put more negative, they tilt it inward on the right front to get the full footprint of the tire on the track when it's in the corner. a little nervous, sure even the straights here are bang bang degrees ross chastain has led the last 12 laps in the sun to the end, you know, stay on it for a second on the camera on the tire where the sun will set on this one race track is getting hotter it's going to get more slippery he'll use more tires ross chastain, we talk about him and his team, the field surgeon, his team had an 11.4 pit stop that gave him the lead when things go your way way, they just keep you going, that's what there is.
There's momentum, that's a team, okay, we're 16 laps into the second stage with Ross Chastain leading Martin Truax by about half a second, so 143 laps completed. Dover Ross Chastain leading. Here's how the Coca-Cola family of drivers is doing with Suarez in 13th. Denny Hamlin on the way back to the front in 22nd Joey Logano All the Penske cars have had problems today He's in the position 25 austin dillon 28 and the sun has broken through and the whole track is in the sunlight now and mike this hasn't changed on this one mile race track, this is the most fickle track we go to as far as how the weather affects the surface and Clint said it before, these crew chiefs have to be aware of that, yeah, there are a lot of unknowns about this next generation car here. but it's still the same one mile concrete surface and you have to rely on your past experience, you literally have to tell yourself that in the car, larry, when you're out there and nine times out of ten this time of year here in this area you're just going to have some cloud cover right I can't tell you how many times I've been circling this place and everything's fine you're like what the hell just happened man I just suddenly let go.
The dawn is with you, we are covered in clouds. Chris Pusher had a career day. He earned his first poll in the cup series this weekend. He led the first 18 laps of the race and now here's Chase Elliot. Now we looked at that tire, the right front tire, and Kyle Larson has been told that his tire looks just like Chase, but why does that bead clip occur well above the shoulder of the tire and not on the tread? ? First things first, camber speed cameras turn on a race car, you need camber on those things, these things have a slight camber, but it's on the verge of disaster, too much, that tire will tighten up like we're seeing and you'll give yourself, you know, the opportunity to maybe blow a tire or something and not make it to the end of this. deal but I think the short sidewall on these tires has a flatter tire patch and when you race these cambered cars like that with that shorter sidewall there isn't as much flex and it leans harder on your shoulder, birthday boy kyle bush fifthly, jamie mike, as you know, when we report tire wear or excessive tire wear, everyone takes note of kyle bush's radio moments after we report issue 9, we don't actuallyThe race to the Left just drops more into the right front than the 924 does behind us and that's where it looks like it starts to go over the right front so I don't know if you see that in the pictures or not but that's just me.
I'm picky, I know, but yes, yes, I know why. Okay, as long as it makes sense to you, I'll just walk away and that's actually observer Tony Hershman giving Ben some information that he's seen from the observer's position. The observer can do a lot. more than just a connoisseur of what's out there and what's around you a good observer nowadays sees everything on pit road everywhere send that information to the crew chief as soon as possible william byron sixth in a backup car didn't have practice doesn't qualify uh came here made his way to the front by staying under caution when most of the others pitted, but he stayed there in the top half, didn't he, Brad Keselowski?
He and Chris Bush are having a great day for RFK third and eighth right now, they need it. Good day, I mean, Brad Keselowski had a great race last week at Talladega, but he made mistakes accelerating on pit road early during a green and black stop. He overcame that and got the free pass, but then, at the end of the race, he accelerated again onto the green. I'm absolutely not going to get over that starting to see some speed in rfk fixing things race cars. You see Chris Busher on pole this weekend, a great example, but now you have to correct the mistakes, you are so spot on with Larry Kevin.
Harvick was happy when we spoke to him yesterday before the race. The multiple winner here in Dover has stayed in the top ten almost all day. In ninth place now he likes this place. I remember the early years of my career running alongside him in the RCR days he didn't like the place and then years later in shr he found some speed here, was successful winning here several times and lo and behold, in the Next competition meetings my man liked the place, ricky stenhouse, uh, rounding out the top ten. and the owner of his car, tad geschichter, visited a sustainable farm to sample frobert, what is robert and sorbet, i guess it's frozen yogurt and sorbet combined, i'm not sure, it sounds like that, let's go with it, it sounds great , caution, five cars, larson, backwards, on the front immediately, send him back here, we hit hard, oh, we didn't hit hard, but we got tired, he was seventh and that's the fifth yellow flag, he reared to the right, he hit his right rear, that was the cause of that, man, what a salvation. barely against the wall with the rear right, both tires on the right side are down, don't hurt this, slow down a little and Clint, that was only 27 laps, 27 laps on those tires, look what happened, yes, it's already sliding to the side.
Through the bend is the right rear drooping, I don't think so, I think it just came loose and lost control, I think the tires blew out while it was sliding with the wheels locked, cool but you don't see it, very often there is The race track is self-cleaning with the banking in the corners here, you go sideways and that track just narrows and it's hard not to hit anything pretty early in the corner, usually because of the speed and you're coming out of it. into the turn, you turn, he was very early in the turn, almost halfway through the turn, when that thing started, get sideways and get out from under him, watch the tires explode right there, sliding to the front first straight and back, they'll catch that thing. fixed, give him a return to game tune up, afraid that Larry still has 94 laps left at this stage, I mean that's doable with the fuel but I don't know if it's doable with the tires and these teams are at the point in they only have five or six sets of decals left and we have over 200 laps left in this race but I think you have to come get tires look at that Larry that's the first time I've seen he actually had a device built for Levanta this car so jackman can get under it.
You always see guys trying to lift the car because they can't get the jack under it. The cars are very close to the ground. That's great. The teams find out. If I always do. Well, let's look at that application of the Quickjack that is used in road racing to lift the rear of the car. Sounds good. I'm in it. It worked. I can promise you that yes, honestly, in the perfect world, we would have stayed green there for a while and These teams could get to lap 185 or 89, come in and get four tires to get to the end, but this caution doesn't really come in a good time for anyone, that's exactly what I was going to ask you, what are you doing now?
I think you need to come, Clint, I mean, if you're in car number 11 and you already have one less set of tires than your competition, what are you doing right if you blow a tire? No, it doesn't matter how many sets of tires you have left, well I don't want to mess it up later either, although no, make sure you clean up these mistakes when you see lug nut problems on pit road, is this a product of Monday? a little hot hangover something bug-free hey we're in the palmetto state this weekend they have palm trees there exactly right darlington throwback weekend coming up i mean honestly guys this is one of those situations where I don't want to go too far in front of our skis, if they have them I wish Nascar would release at least one set of tires, an extra set of tires from these races, it definitely has these teams scratching their heads and backing up against the wall, you still have warnings like you.
I just saw an untimely warning. This gets very hot. We'll have to save a set. Some of them will have to do a configuration. Now you used to be able to swap tires between teams, say a team that has failed. or a team that was left out of the race, but those days are over. Those days, each team on pit road had the option of having nine sets of tires for the race, including qualifying ones, so eight sets of stickers, one set of scuffs and you're good to go. the race in one of those, but yeah, you can't go buy extra tires and the pit road remains closed.
Yeah, I see basically every team on pit road with tires ready for a pit stop. I just think you have to worry about how many tires. you're late you have to come get them right now yes first you have to be later okay that's all we'll worry about that later 91 laps left in stage 241 to start the race look at kyle larson's self control while He blocks it, he slows down, he goes down, one tire goes, here comes the wall, so I'm going to speed up and stay away from it, that was Jimmy Johnson, like there, let's go back to 2006.
Best save. What I have seen in my life I will never forget this the day I die turns we hear that everyone is in the pits during qualifying it seems to be coming towards you turning well and turning twice turning three times look how it is accelerating again wait a minute it accelerates backwards incredible, except that's for sure, well I was paying half the damage, too unbelievable, except there were open roads and here they all come, regan mike, your leader, ross chastain, giving very good detailed information about his race car, it's tight , but after about 20 laps. rear end starts to slide said he can handle that slide wants some help with titan william byron comfortable in traffic but too loose in clean air kind of hard to fix there jamie chase elliott was told what happened to his teammate and he said okay I can go faster but I'll destroy the tires, they said, don't do that, just keep doing what you're doing, there will be four tires here for him, the 17th, and he'll also land a little moose who wants him adjust it again.
So he's happy with that and Martin Shorex Jr. now everyone is saying they can make it to the end of this stage after the stop, happy with the latest changes for 19. Boy, it's going to be hard to run at any pace and wow! Truex nearly swept the nose of the number nine as he exited pit road. You want to see it again because that was the all-time save in Dover, uh, Jimmy Johnson, in a little more friend, anywhere, at any race track, in any situation that he ever had. seen and the crowd went crazy with that round of pit stops justin haley and his racing buddy took two tires and gained ten spots off pit road justin haley came out third behind dover motor

speedway

this is, um, yeah, really focus on something that's not There seems to be nothing strange about what's strange so getting ready to restart here at Dover Chris Busher with a pit stop problem you see a tire bounce and you start to escape but they caught him and they saved him a penalty, but fell from third place. to the seventh in that stop daniel suárez came in and made a second stop there is a gorilla that couldn't catch him ah I lost it well a good save good save so ross chastain martin truax chevy toyota in the front row haley and elliott kozlowski kyle bush busher byron harvick stenhouse the top 10. harrison burton the free pass gives us 29 cars on the lead lap as we return to green mike for the second time trent owens justin haley's crew chief with 31 tires on the right side he only gained a lot of track position at that stop a lot Before we saw cars that stayed outside and did not use tires, they prevailed and did very well, so this stop with twotires by Hayley's team could prove to be a good decision and Mike, you asked me during the break if you would have stayed.
There it is not as if we are approaching the end of the stage. We have almost 90 laps left before the stage and you had to come right there. Harvick moved on Buscher for seven tires that looked better. Ours have been good, but. We haven't raced for a long time, you know, they've all been pretty short, that's the experience, talking there, that's all it is, what their tires look like, that was their way of saying, can I run harder exactly? You've never told a driver. look everything looks good just keep digging that's all don't worry about the full 14th place for denny hamlin with this pass to aj almandinger, kurt bush watching and tyler reddick moving up i mean i know the further along it goes , harder It gets, but Denny Hamlin is going to be in good shape, he has a fast enough race car and we still have more than half the race left.
Brad Keselowski is in fourth place, just behind Truex, having one of his best races of the season. I know what that toad did to the number 12 car, but he was back in the top 12 after that adjustment. Great rebound for Ryan Blaney. His teammate Austin Cendrick is in the garage after an accident and couldn't make repairs in time, while Joey Logano was in the car. lead lap end almost all day regan mike we talked about the big adjustments ryan blainey and the race team have made so far that race car is much better for it right now just a little four wheel slide i made Take a look at the tires that came off that car, they look much better, they should no longer move Martin Truex into second place around Hayley, who we remind you only used two tires, but he is still in a great position, They won a lot of spots, you know, we went back to Reagan. report, obviously the fit, I think the fit plus the rubber on the racetrack has made the difference in that 12-card Corey Lejoy battling Cole Custer, who got the bye two warnings ago, who's back in 23rd place and just behind them you can see the five cars. trying to get back up the field hasn't been able to gain much ground, I don't know if he's still fighting a spike driving race car, same boat for the 20, excuse Bell's 20 as well and uh.
Kyle Larson is either a lag behind Christopher Bell or not very impressive. He ran like a 24-13. Our leaders right now are running between 23 and dragging that car with those two flat tires. You think he might have hurt something underneath. The most vulnerable part, absolutely, could damage the suspension, could damage something like the rear diffuser or anything back there, how about that hood flap? That hurts a lot? It doesn't help, you know, that's for sure, it's definitely an arrow disadvantage. This fight is free. passing position, well, you know they are going to fight hard, it is very important, especially if you have some problems with the car, some problems with the arrows, you already need to fight hard to try to stay on that leading lap, on the bottom lap , you may not be able to. get it back, they passed on austin dillon, who is on the lead lap.
Now one of Clint's questions has to do with Denny Hamlin's 11th, who is currently in 13th place. Which driver will have the most laps led at the end of stage two? Hamlin led 67 so far there are still 75 left on the stage, I think this is going to hurt some fans this year, you know, having the right answer on that, choosing the right option will be interesting and Ross Chastain is not one of the options. I think he would have made the wrong decision, that's what I'm trying to say, yeah, he's, uh, more likely than Chastain, since he's led 48 laps so far.
A random fan asked me this week about Chastain and Track House racing. competing for a championship later this year my answer is starting to change guys I tell you you are answering the call at every race track you have to be able to be diverse at every track you have. they've been fast short tracks they've been fast intermediate tracks they've been fast here's Dover, sort of uh, its own style, a concrete race track style, go back fast again, yeah, the orange dot keeps getting bigger and bigger, review though, that talk of being a championship contender i think it's heating up, they're proving they're here to stay b.j mcleod just walked slowly down pit road and took his number 78 to the garage joining austin cendrick as the two cars out of the race william byron, i will tell you for a backup car he is driving it pretty hard and alex bowman is back in the top ten, last year's winner when henrik motorsports swept the top four places with this new car, move to a backup car, let's talk about that for a second, you literally don't.
You even have to have this on scales, since things are set up, you can set that car up with those four shocks and coil springs, screwing them on, going to the track, all out of a simulation program, it's all pretty scientific before you go. the race is right, no more testing, limited practice and, uh, huge cost savings potential for these teams, just hope the computer doesn't get a virus this weekend. Full 181 Ross Chastain leading Martin Truax by half a second in the Dry Dean 400. Okay, okay Full 187 laps Martin Truax dropped back half a second behind Ross Chastain and then made a graph and got back to side by side with the spinner immediately. kirk bush into the wall sixth yellow flag of the race on lap 189 towards the inside wall kurt was 15th and let's go Take a look at what happened in turn.
Two oops. Allmandinger helped me. I let go. He crashed into the wall. Kurt was in trouble before Alma Dinger really messed with him. Well, he had to lift those cars that were racing in front of him. He probably took an arrow. Tight I lifted his back a little, all of him out, okay, we'll use our monster energy chamber and travel with you. He tensed up from both of them, let's take this to the end to start finishing, yes, it seemed good. tight, he had to get off the throttle unfortunately he tried to hold his line, I'm not going to blame Almandinger that it was his fault he was trying to hold his line to protect his position, unfortunately he turned around, I tell you one thing I saw with his orange visor when he hit the wall, he closed his eyes and I always wondered if I did the same thing I thought, but you can never see that video at the end of the car, I don't blame him, I wouldn't have wanted to see that. well I didn't want to see that caution right there because this is becoming a big problem with these sets of tires, we ran 25 laps at that time, that's a great point, yes, we still have half a race left to see Clinton.
Kurt's eyes here, Clinton, right here, on that inside wall. A lot of times you know, like Larson, turning down the frontstretch. Sometimes you see guys get away with it, but that, or excuse me, on the backstretch, for whatever reason, you lose it back there. He's like a magnet on the inside wall so kyle larson won the battle with christopher bell for the free pass larson will be back on the lead lap to stay truex uh kyle busch and justin haley did a great job with those two new tires yeah , that was a big win honestly I'm going to sit out here I just don't, but here they all come, they all come well, we have some that are left out, we have haley that was left out, alex bowman was left out because of that Two tire call, right?
I think maybe he was forced to do that right, Ross Chastain in a car, there was no decision to make there, they wanted to go into the pits trying to get more spins in that race car, but he said this race was no better than the one. previous race, Jamie. and Chase Elliott they're going to make another adjustment to help the wear on the right front, they're going to add some air, pump it up a little bit, Martin Shurix Jr's 19 and happy with the car, he said he just can. I didn't make the pass to the front, he said he can't go high, there's no grip there yet and Kyle Busch asked about the tire situation.
I feel like we're short on tires, as you saw there. No tires for Kyle Busch, so it seems. eight drivers stay here at the front of the field after kirk bush goes into the outside and inside wall 191 on the board we're nine laps from the halfway point from dover motor

speedway

this is the motor racing network guys, let's take a closer look at that contact down there in the corner again once you go back down the back where that contact occurred is where drivers have historically told us is the lightest place on the track where the car sits on. compared to what's left so usfl continues on friday philadelphia against michigan 10 eastern on fs1 and then saturday at 7 eastern on fox.
The tampa bay bandits take on the undefeated birmingham stud. Skip Holtz's team moved to 3-0 this weekend. They are the only undefeated team in the league. Larry Mack. I know it would be Birmingham and they're playing at home, that's how unbeaten is supposed to be now, part time people, a lot of them couldn't come on Monday to help out here, so look at this morning's ticket man, Marcus Smith, the executive director. of Speedway Motorsports, new owners of the track, brought a team of people from their home base in Charlotte to Mike Tatoyan, who was checking passes here from the track president in the VIP elevator, and they all pitch in on a Monday.
Wow, that's good for you! marcus smith justin haley outside alex bowman aj allmendinger behind on the outside and then tyler reddick four wide turn two omg kyle busch at 18. he's trying to make some hay with those four new tires get it while you can here sure who's gaining more moves in three and four chases elliott already gained four places the car on the wall turned one limp along the yellow car out and waves of caution joey logano has had a tough day, let's get back to that battle of four wide turn the number two guy restarts here are exciting yeah jump right into the outside three and remember he was the first driver with four new tires yeah and watch joey logano oh wow he had a lot help changing lanes on 43rd and also caused that pretty heavy contact. a great view of that and that will put Christopher Bell back on the lead lap.
He will get the bye on this the seventh caution of the race. The drivers who were left out with those 25-lap and 26-lap tires. These yellow flags are his best friends when executing it. running at 35 40 miles per hour logging some laps that's a good thing for them now there's still 53 laps to go here on stage two jamie and joey logano yeah they've had their hands full all weekend they made some big changes yesterday they I noticed this morning. he just wasn't sure what they would have he was stuck there in traffic you saw he had help now they were on their only worn set they have to run or have in the pits so now they're going to have to put another set of sticky tires on this lap see the damage on the right rear and the right rear wheel well here probably checking the toe link getting a plane to maybe replace it justin haley carrying our disc for autism cameras this weekend the indiana driver is fully moving forward- time the cup in 2022, won in all three nascar national series, todd braun, former car owner here, close relative and he is the 2016 kn east series champion, you are starting to see and I know it's early for start talking about this. but the playoff picture i thought about it when i saw kurt bush on the wall looking at you know he was right out of the playoffs in 18th place now they obviously admire him and you look at justin haley coming into that picture in the conversation what ? 20 points so a good run today here some good strategy decisions to get this track position two tire calls will quickly get you to that playoff picture haley 18th in the standings as of right now needs about 20 points to break into the top 16. that's how it's done mike yeah lead laps win stages rip them off no guys justin hayley was mostly running the full cup schedule last year couldn't run this race had to be replaced by Josh Berry. because he was out due to Covid protocol, now Christopher Bell is back on pit road working on the right rear hub and making sure that wheel fits tight against the hub, uh, before sending home the center locknut to retain it, yeah , when they had done it.
That loose wheel, you've got all those drive pins that are in the hub and you've got the holes for the drive pins and it might have stuck some of those holes and that's maybe what they're working on a lot. tires included in Chase Elliot's camp 27 tires you have, although all all tires included, we need aroundof 40, you know, 44, 44 ounce game that includes disgust, there are some on the worksheets that we, it's a valid question, Chase, well, Kyle Bush has made five stops for four tires. start running in one, that means they have three sets left for those 18 and 201 laps to get to 200 this time halfway through this 400 mile race, it will be justin haley outside of aj almandinger on the green bowman and redick wallace and kyle busch suarez byron elliott punish your top 10. here we go larson three wide and he's making time on the outside, he sure did three wide two rows past two rows full rows four cars in a cool corner testing the keselowski exterior now off the four pretty bold moves there contact chris busher getting in out there turn two laney moved 42 dylan didn't like that the pusher made contact with ty dillon and then ty had a hard time getting past three and four after that fourth place, so Larry, what are you doing? do when you run out of tires, yeah, I mean, you took what Alan Gustavson cho Chase Elliott, they've almost factored it into how many laps they need to run per heat, 40 to 45 laps, but Jamie, how about Tyler Radica, those eight, yes, did they get themselves? that much needed track position, they were left out last time, he is fourth at the moment, but he has a damaged car, he crashed twice in practice and hit the wall at the beginning of this race, that lead was a little out Anyway, they're holding a pretty good reel, right? now nothing, this is probably the first weekend I've noticed the guy you know talking about the diffuser on the back of these cars, you can't get up like you used to and just knock the air out of them and make them drop that stuff and it stays stuck to the ground when you approach that car.
I just saw Truex try it at Chastain and I've seen several others, for some reason, this new cup car with that deactivator in the back, it doesn't matter if a car is right behind them or has no grip yet. I saw it over and over again watching that xfinity race with you Larry on Saturday, those guys were able to get to the rear bumper, they didn't have to hit it, but they were able to get into the air. get out of your car and let them go and make a pass get under them alex mujer closing in on the leader while kyle busch goes after tyler reddick takes fourth and now wants third from almandinger kyle bush tires with a pressure of about 30 laps 25 to 30 laps fresher tires and all these drivers he's racing with right now, you hear an omen, although it's a great race for college racing, both cars running up front have some speed chasing, elliott takes a spot over reddick elliott up to fourth and further back in ninth place, we're actually.
Seeing a third groove now well off the bottom of the track, a groove off the top chases Elliott taking fourth, watching Justin Hayley and two tires stop prevailing here leading these laps. Is your mind starting to change? If I need some court position, Chastain Truex. We're back there stuck in this traffic. I can't make many overtakes. I have problems. We'll take two tires later. Yes, the left sides have no problems and I think court position is the key. Alex Bowman in the lead. Justin Haley led the most. more laps today than in his entire bowman cup career combined up front last year's winner both drivers just ran their fastest lap of the race during this race about eight laps ago martin truex to the top with ross chastain have been working on it for about five or six laps now, side by side, going back and forth, and kyle bush is coming up to the front, sure got all the top ten, three toyotas, seven chevrolets, best ford on this Right now, Harvick is in 13th place, while Denny Hamlin is one spot away. top ten now look at how Kyle Bush took the lead coming out of that corner, yeah, you could see Justin Hayley's front end wasn't, you know, pointing to the right, he was waiting for the throttle, waiting for the throttle, Kyle Bush was and was back to the Accelerate completely opened Hayley in one corner, went down to the next and got Bowman.
These are the first laps Bush led today as Hamlin Motors passed Bubba Wallace into the top 10. That's a pretty amazing statistic right on Kyle's birthday. he wins now this race didn't start on may 2nd but it will end there and kyle tries to go three by three lighting the candles and collecting the big check the other two drivers will do it matt kenseth and kell yarborough won cup races on his birthday, that It's something so special for Kyle Bush, he didn't depend on anyone else who gave him a birthday gift, he only gave himself 13th place, Ricky Stenhouse, he passed Kevin Harvick, who is still the tallest forward, but now he is in the position 14, Martin Truax, three back immediately. with tyler reddick and kurt busch, i have to believe that tyler reddick is very happy with this race.
We talked to him yesterday on the pre-race stage, before our pre-race show, and he says I have no idea we're lost, so obviously the adjustments. They did it with this car, they must be very happy to be in the top ten, eighth at the moment, four and a half behind the leader, sixth place now, as Martin Trurix continues his march back to the front, I'm telling you Truex. 18 by kyle bush these gibbs guys are coming to play today monday they're ready good any time martin trex jr is coming to dover coming to play three wins his last five races here four top two finishes listen to your top performance from toyota kyle busch the leader who has led nine laps now truex in fifth hamlet in ninth bubba wallace 11 and christopher bell 23 benny hamlin passes ross chastain moves up to eighth larry those toyotas are marching forward like they have 20 sets of tires and you know mike what I said earlier this week I felt like in the month of May we raced five times, including the all-star race, that will tell us where all of these organizations and manufacturers really compare on all of these different types of tracks, teammates competing for the second place, those Hendrick Camaros chase Elliott into second place. two seconds behind the leader 18 instead of 28 laps to go in stage two as we take you to Fox side by side uh uh 172 laps to go at Dover 22 to go in stage two chicajoey logano has had a tough day as leader kyle bush legato goes two laps down after getting up and crashing into the wall in front of eric jones just a tough weekend for team penske austin cedric already out of the race ryan laney some adjustments back to the top 15 sitting in 15th right now in the number 12 car you're driving with him here Tyler Reddick sitting in 15th right now I saw him shoot really high in three and four laps right before we heard that radio communication.
As soon as that thing starts to fall apart, like you saw in Blaney's No. 12 car, you can actually not only feel it, but you can hear it. He had lost 10 places since the last start and now he has given up four more and I know what they are. I'd love to do it, they'd love to try to get it done in the next 19 laps, it's not going to go well, that's exactly what you're trying to do is take care of it to get to the end of this and I agree, I think it's a lot of missed. pace now going into the pits I'd say it's starting to fall apart, Brian Priests, they're having a good day for rickwear racing, running only two cup races this year, kind of a mixed bag with some xfinity and a few Cup races start to fall apart, you can see it all over the gate unraveling just like we saw it, I don't want to take it down, I know I'm going to lose laps, it's just an unfortunate situation, you have to do the same.
The right thing, I guarantee you the crew chiefs are looking at that scoreboard, how many laps do we have to do? Because you just saw that happen with those eight cars on the right front. 16 to go. Remember Justin Haley took those two tires and restarted first. Now it's him. 16th, he's lost quite a bit of pace on his lap times at this point, about six tenths of a second slower than leaders Jamie and Alex Bowman 48 running six at the moment and last caught up on lap 160. I just finished See your entire team look up. on that board and I saw the right front falling apart in eighth and that's another one of the drivers that stayed out under that yellow flag behind lap 189, you called him Larry, we knew that after seeing the Delaney thing, you know, we knew that was going to be a problem, every team was going to have trouble getting these things down, then caution started to kick in, forcing you to stay outside pushing these tires longer and harder, now one at home, when I could say, "Okay, well, why is that thing falling apart?" Guys I'd rather a tire do that than blow up and hit the wall, so us drivers who were left out we've already seen problems with hayley bowman, reddick and ty dillon, there's also almandinger who got left out, then bubba wallace austin dillon and daniel suarez also stayed out on that warning i guarantee you the radios came on oh larry mack in the box telling me hey nerdy guys that thing don't lean on that right front take care of it the other driver who might be worried is william byron just used two tires on that caution, but the good news is two tires on the right side, but the drivers who didn't pit, sid slap 160 or so, are now coming to the end of the neighborhood of almost 70 laps on those tires, green flag laps Well, I have to do 10 more to reach the end of the stage.
Aj Almandinger was last in the pits as you mentioned 78 laps ago. Can you hold your breath for nineteen more laps? Well, you're in the pits, I'm sure you can. Not with that tire falling apart inside you, I can promise you, get in front, just hold on, caution is out. Caution is out. Denny Hamlin and Cody Ware Man Day went from bad to worse for Denny Hamlin. Hamlin was fourth in the Cody Ware three car. down laps, roll it right there and cody spun coming out of turn four and just picked up Hamlin, look at the damage on the right side at 11 oh 51. lose your mind, had gotten a wall right in front of the eleven by denny hamlin ah well that's those nine degrees of banking, you knew the 51 car will go up and down, it barely hooks denny in the back.
Hamlin's day started off with trouble when the center lock nut fell out of the socket on his first pit stop on the front left and he had recovered nicely to fourth place, but it looks like a can opener has been behind that number 11 .You know, that's the damage I see and I have a bond that will take care of that. There will still be a lot of work to do in a short time to get back there and that's what you saw in that crew member's hand. The mistakes seem to come again and again with the 11, you know even when they have done it. a pit lane speeding penalty on the fast car, you know, it's all taken a toll on the number 11 car this season, thank goodness for the win they got at Richmond, now Hamlin is still on the lead lap.
His spotter, Chris Lambert, told him to come down, he thought he might stop by. before Cody Ware's car hit the bottom of the track, nine degrees banked on the straightaways, 24 on the corners, it all hits the inside wall at the end, yeah, I know we're getting close to the end of this stage, basically We have 26 pilots. the lead lap, I think you came here because I don't think you could handle new tires even with Kyle Bush who has so many laps and then of course you would be out at the end of the stage. We may see a split decision, but I think you'll see most of them coming, so you want to come now.
He definitely wants to take those tires off that car, that's what he wants to do. I want to be able to breathe. Regan Mike. It was a quick decision for the only car to pit here. They said we wanted to have the tires. Now that car continues to lack rear grip as the day goes on and the sun stays out. It's getting worse and worse in terms of rear grip at the moment for Ross. Chastain Jamie and Chase Elliot's nine were feeling pretty good, they felt like he was really reeling in Kyle Bush, they're stopping for his tires once again. 48 Alex Bowman simply got too loose.
He had those old tires happy to get some new ones. sticky tires here kyle busch wants a little more right rear grip a fourth tire change here and the 19 his teammate followed will soon be four tires with no adjustments thanks jamie now the remaining penske cars are out ryan blaney and the the wood brothers with harrison burton truex wins a spot elliott drops a stenhouse jones and buscher plus two kyle bush in front of a group of cars there is a nut on the race track you see the nut roll maybe only one was replaced but definitelyThere was a nut, the nut came off, how do you fix that Larry right again? a lot of bear union, you can't, you can't put any steel panels or anything, you have to use tape or bear union, definitely, a center wheel lock, a center nut there on track sunday on fs1 it's a week of throwback on track two tough to tame where they've been racing since 1949. memory lane has no speed limit at the goodyear 400 at darlington at two o'clock ET on fs1 on the fox sports app our coverage begins and he'll be all over the hall of fame booth, except Clint and I, of course, King Richard Petty and stage one, Bobby Labonte, he'll be with us on stage two and Million Dollar Bill, Bill Elliott won the Winston's million in Darlington years ago and will be. with us on stage three, man, even the king's caricature, now a hero photo looks better than mine, how do you look cooler than the king now that was the driver's suit of him?
He was kind of a jean look, he had flared pants at the bottom. down, I mean, he was styling, yeah, yeah, he was, he always is, that's how it is, you know, when he walks in the room, it's such a great feeling. I can't wait to get there and have all three perspectives on that race, that historic race at Darlington. It's going to be great to be able to have those guys with us, Eric Jones, ninth place right now was in that skirmish with Joey Logano earlier and there's Denny Hamlin, I guess waiting for more repairs next time didn't want to lose a lap.
He's still on the lead lap. If he reaches the minimum speed when we compete again, he will come off the dvp clock and everything will be fine. Vehicle damage policy. Five men on the wall. Six minutes to make repairs and return to minimum. speed, they're still working on cody ware's car, who triggered that turning into turn four and where didn't that center lock come from or where is it going to go, wow, I think it was Hayley that went down, I don't see it. Get out or hit Cole Custer's car. We'll double check this is a tough repair, no Larry those guys, you can see those body panels are literally gone and holding the bail is the only thing you can do. maybe we have to go back in, well we'll race again with three to go, let's set the stage up there, you've got Ryan Blainey and Harrison Burton, they're on 40-something lap tires up there, even with only three to go final.
I don't have a good feeling about that. I'll try to make it three laps until the end of stage two. The winner of stage two has won three of Dover's last five races. Look for Kyle Bush to be three wide, coming in on one and two. here it's going to happen quickly there it goes the same thing he did before on a restart two to go to stage two very close quarters of four with chase had to get off the gas three cars want Blaney leader to try to hold on against Kyle Busch and martin truax resists to old tires.
I'm here to tell you that I'm impressed, very weak going into three, so it won't be truex who wins the second stage, once to go I think he will. I was worried, I said. If I could get past one and two I was thinking it would be fine I think he wins the stage just by fighting hard trying to hug the guy below he got loose he doesn't run Ryan Blady gets his fourth stage win of the year most of all drivers as soon as he let go, I don't know what he did to the air behind him, it's like, you know, he disrupted the air behind him because kyle busch got loose right behind him, ryan blaine from team penske, he them take everyone to the green and white checkered flag for stage two my stage two points summary ryan blaney with ten achieved with nine alex bowman scores eight marks two x junior seven and ricky stenhouse junior six scoring five points es ross chastain eric jones crosses and gets four points harrison burton three chris busher two and Chase elliott holds on and gets a play at this stage point and racing fans be on the lookout as we have t-shirts coming to you once again here as part of the double throw lottery jersey keep your eyes peeled along the frontstretch this would be an interesting strategy you know you need a set of tires but who else is welcome back to nascar cup racing from dover on fs1 presented by brez tree in the flag harrison burton, who restarted in the front row finished eighth, so it was still a net win for him.
Good finish on that stage for ricky stenhouse fifth eric jones seventh chase ellie got the last point of the stage, but those four stage wins this year are one of the reasons why ryan blaney is second in points right now Chase Elliot Regan well what a day it's been for Ryan Blaine, start today on pit road fixing that race car now get that stage win. The race car right now is not that bad for him, he has continued to improve. They were lacking front turn before, but better as he progressed. they're going right now they're going to put worn tires on these are the tires they qualified on they're going to use them now so they have two sets of stickers left later so everyone except Blainey and Harrison Burton had just been on pit road and denny hamlin coming off pit road after making more repairs on that right side and hamlin still on the lead lap uh tyler reddick will get the bye on this yellow flag oscar dillon the previous yellow flag so both kids' cars will go back to the lead lap except the hood is up on Dylan's number three, let's talk about stage winner Ryan Blaney, how about he has a spoiler on the trunk?
You got us, hey, yeah, I got you, holy job, awesome job, holding on to that stage car was looking a little, uh, a little loose, those old tires. but she did a great job, yeah, I appreciate it, that was, uh, that was hard, I'm not going to lie to you, uh, so yeah, it was nice to get to that stage when you know there's a big reason for us to sit out yeah we weren't. on stage, the kind of people, uh, he doesn't feel bad, so I hope we can get back on the field. I think we have a decent Ford Mustang Menard, we just have to keep digging.
Thanks man, good luck, thanks everyone, Ryan Blaney. pitting will restart 21 ryan laney second in the points standings our winner of stage 2 you are your favorite grandson nice and calm there he is twice it is this year they came it rained on them they returned for monday nice monday crowd available here at dover motor speedway missing 145 laps to see who wins the dry dean 400 kyle busch the leader alex bowman martin truax ricky stenhouse ross chastain there's the running order 28 cars on the lead lap including tyler redick who just got the free pass larry what's the situation the tires especially for our leaders here, yes, we have some that have three sets.
Kyle Busch. Jamie Little just told me that he has two sets of decals and one set of scuffs and again we basically have over 140 laps to go so that means. You really need to do 60 to 70 laps per race, but you have to come up with your strategy without having any warnings. I think the chance of not having warnings is pretty slim. Interesting top 10 for the reboot. Kyle Bush Alex Bowman Truex Stenhouse now fourth chastain. eric jones paul center chris busher points leader chase elliott eric almarola and kevin harvick three front two toyota five chevrolets in the top ten as we prepare to restart there will be 143 laps left when they reach the geico restart zone fourth place chastain slides up in martin draw top 10.
I was thinking. Some of that damage was going to keep me from getting back into this thing, but I'm telling you to start with a couple more adjustments and fix a little more damage in these precautions. Next thing you know you're back in the game, hey Glenn, you're not. He has a lot of sets of tires down because at a couple of those stops they didn't change tires, so it's not like he was on the shift. Two Blaneys got in the back of Cole Custer and almost sent him to Smyrna, well Custer came in there a little hot.
I had to chase him up the hill right in front of Blainey Rainey, he didn't like it, well you know the first hit is I'm here, the second hit is move you, yeah I don't think Cole Cusser wouldn't want to do it. that, but the situation just got worse for him, finally Blaney had enough and pushed him out of the way. There's a crossover, a lot of crossovers, and people run off that high line and into turn two, making a good crossover and making a pass. down setting up we're in the position you want to be in for three and four daniel suarez coming back to blaney on the outside and they're double open right in front of these two also this all happens in the 22 let's get back to the front kyle busch leads alex bowman by almost a half second jamie and alex bowman defend the race winner here at dover after that last stop he came on the radio and said i got a vibration it's small but it's in this seat and it's in the car they saw the video when their team cheated , Greg Ice came out of the box, they looked at the video and said we're pretty sure, usually those vibrations don't get better, but they can if that tire is a little out of balance or something.
You don't get that very often with these anymore, but if that's a scenario, you could keep that vibration all the time, but if there's a loose plug or something, it's very likely to get worse. Christopher Bell down to 14. continues to fight his way back, these guys have struggled early in the race and he continues to claw and dig between the up and down 28 cars on the lead lap three cars out of the race cody ware bj mccloud and austin cendrick the free pass right now is ty dillon two laps down as well as joey logano and todd gilliland this battle here is between these two whoever comes off pit road and has a good restart when that happens I tell you those guys that's going to be a winner traffic will have a deal how about ricky stenhouse gets there running third big race for him they need a good race jtg doherty now a one car team this year for stenhouse looking good yeah i know We have a long way to go in the regular season, but the hole they've dug has already almost put them in a must-win situation.
I want to make playoffs 100. We already finished that last week. I mean, you know, looking at a clue. like tyledega, that wild card race where we've seen so many wins, you know, come from that never before or whatever scenario, it was certainly at the top of my list as someone who desperately needed to win still does, obviously, ross chastain looking ahead back to martin truex in fifth place more than anything, when you're struggling and you keep working harder and harder and you can't get out of the hole, a good race, just establishing yourself as a solid weekend, you know it helps everyone.
Overall, confidence is everything and a good race certainly helps. I'm not sure I've seen exactly how good Kevin Harvick is. I think he is monitoring the tire situation. Maybe he'll start to rear his head a little. I don't know if he can. He gets up there and takes the lead, but I think he's got a good top-10 car. Seventh place here with Kurt Busch's car back and it's Kyle Larson threading the needle. Larson moved up six spots since the restart, right behind Chase Elliot's nine. The last race was one of the fastest cars. I came back here in traffic.
I have trouble crossing the field to pass. When you make the passes, you bring that car to the front. Clean air, even though that thing flies. Reagan. Well, Mike. We have seen the ups and downs of the day. For Kyle Larson, including that spin on the frontstretch, I can tell my guys on pit road, he's actually in the best shape tire-wise right now. The five cars sitting with three stickers placed the tire that no one else has, so keep that in mind while we. To get through these last 126 laps, you'll need seconds to start happening very soon.
You need races long enough that people are forced to have a decision in their hands. Use those tires and you'll finally have one in the end. I need some laps to be able to take advantage of that Corey Lejoy in 16th place and carrying the main sponsor of the race in his car, having a good race, Michael Mcdowell right behind him, those two got together in the last turn at Talladega last week and it was Mcdowell who came. him from below the yellow line and sent Lejoy spinning toward the inside wall. Yes, Michael had a pair of consecutive top 10 finishes in the Bristol dirt race at Talladega last week.
He was the top-performing Ford driver last week at Talladega. I'm not surprised about Michael. mcdowell on a very good super circuit, obviously, winner of the Daytona 500, but that memory is so fresh that maybe you don't want to get too close to today's joy daniel suárez 24th, 16 seconds behind the leader, that's Chase Briscoe, just ahead, battle for position, There go your leaders. with 122 to go kyle bush ahead of alex bowman by seven tenths of a second we'll get your fox side by side okay okay um oh 115 laps left at Dover Kyle Busch leads let's take a look at today's credit in a bank. who you have to take a good look at, you know where I'm going, Mike, that's right, the birthday boy never lost on a birthday, this is going to happen three by three, Kyle Busch is my man, gaining leading laps, he's going to win the race, well divided last week, it was a great victory. for ross chastain at talladega this week the led lamps lost early in direct position but slowly made up for it now in third position ross chastain is who I'm watching at the end well reagan we know kyle larson has had a very eventful day so far but remember top three finishes his last three races here after that early problem he's already back in the top ten kyle larson is always one to watch i would say alex bowman's 48 is the defending winner of race one here a year ago has more top fives here than any other track is stalking kyle busch hoping to upset that birthday party later today's race is introduced with the letter m m is for martin and m is for monday and two of martin's three wins at dover came in races that ended on the m day, monday, martin wins, that starts with them, it does if you turn it face down and those are your credits, the ones you have to watch in the bank , I remember, it also starts with them, okay, there is Austin Dillon again on the leading lap until now, when Kyle Bush was putting him one down with 110 laps to go, this is the moment in this race when the drivers start to get up and enter in what we call the Harry Gant pace, expanding this race track and making it as wide as possible, I don't think so.
Let's see today it says that in a groove in the wall the driver is working to handle and polish the race track well and hey, let's look back, we saw that those tires started to have problems around 60 laps knowing that I'm going need this, this could fix it and run a lot here, try to take this to the end, manage those tires well, yes we came back to run with 143 laps left, if you split it up you should try to run around 70 or 71 laps, so somewhere between 320 and 325 is when we're looking to make that stop if we don't get a call, you said 71.
I just told you my tires were falling apart on lap 60. How am I going to do that? I had to backtrack a bit, I'm afraid I was going to say that ty dillon was about to lose three and harrison burton goes down the lap after getting the bye on lap 157, the rookie is now one lap down and ty who was two down now three Ryan Blaney trying to get back up after that last pit stop he's won five since the restart he's in 20th place yeah I mean the only thing they gained by doing what they did which is huge , was that. a playoff point for winning that stage because he went from leading all the way back very far from the top 20 when he had to face eric almarolo trying to contain christopher bell this is for 10. and that pass leaves chris busher as the only forward in the top ten in eighth place they've been consistent, Eddie for Almorola all season long, you know, they haven't really been up front leading laps, but they've been solid right there at the back of a top ten, if not a top ten, every time you look. over your shoulder at the end of the race last trip to Dover for Eric said this will be the last year of his Nascar Cup career and now Dover is down to one race a year.
This is all. Kyle Larson has probably passed more cars than anyone else today. back forward back forward again there's a look at his day after that spin put us under caution on lap 157 digging back into that hole you can see the hole the spin left on the day for the card five slowly but surely coming out of it, here's another look. It was a long, lazy turn. It took a long time for it to happen, but he did a great job, barely kissing a wall on the inside to save that thing. taking care of it again it had some damage actually from those sagging tires and that's what you see on the right front, the crew did a great job fixing those repairs, you see the hole in the hood from the flap that came off but it doesn't look like be hurting him at all, he's in seventh place, one of the few things Kyle Larson has never done in the Cup Series is turn and win, you know, Clint, you talk about that hole that's where the hood flap goes.
It can be opened like this, it can't be taped if it has to be open or the flap has to be there and be workable because that's part of the package where the car rotates and unfolds, it helps keep the car on the ground it has It has to be open or it has to be operable, so now on our scoring pole you can see how long it's been since they were in the top 20 pit lane, only for Ryan Blaney to be appreciably later than everyone else because he stopped. At the stage break, everyone else stopped at the previous yellow flag and you heard Larry say that about 60 laps later you started to see tire problems. 57 laps, I'm getting nervous guys, and again just to enter the speed, I think what the crew chiefs are looking at is how many more laps to go to be able to match this until the end of the race if we stay green and that will happen around 18, let's say 18 to 23, 24 laps from now, yeah, you don't want this to happen, no I don't want the yellow flag to come right now that's making up for the next round the next race even longer with that set of tires this is the longest green flag run of the race Ross Chastain had faded a bit in the clutches of Martin Truex but now Chastain is back on the pedal and has gained about four tenths.
There is a gap with Martin, which is from third to fourth place. You know, we showed you a while ago Christopher Bell in that 20 car. In fact, he's turning some of the fastest laps we have. Right now that brings us to the final fastest lap of the xfinity race and it's Christopher Bell leading the league. We see several drivers who seem to have eased it up a bit, as race leader Kyle Bush is about to lap Brad here. Keselowski, who runs about four-tenths of a second slower than the leader, maybe by design, yeah, and Brad, actually, probably is, of all the drivers, many of them who are maybe inside the top 20.
He has the worst shape so far. His tires, well you saw it right there, big move in the middle of the corner, I definitely want to come in and put some new tires on that machine. Martin's there on Ross Chastain, this one's for third, get a run, go ahead, take him out of these. two have hooked up, although I think two terms of this race, yes, Truex has had to pass him every time he is tired of seeing that card. I promise a good day for Chastain, although he has spent over 140 laps of this race in the top five.
That's the thing about Ross Chastain, yes he has two wins, six top five finishes, but he doesn't seem to have a weak track, he runs well on all types of tracks and for those same reasons I said before, I think is a candidate for a There is a great possibility of competing in that championship at the end of the year, you know, in recent years he spent many weekends racing in the three Nascar national series logging many laps at all these tracks and well, this year everything is paid. yeah, you finally get him into this, a nice hot rod and he's using all that experience from using all those different series, Tyler Reddick, trying not to get in his way, he's one lap down, he kissed the wall a little bit, this body doesn't it's a problem. no, i love it and kirk bush, whose car has suffered some damage earlier, makes a pit stop. kyle bush is the leader for a second and a half, side by side, he's okay, he's okay, he's okay.
There are 85 laps left at Dover and Ryan Blaney, who pitted at the end of stage two, after taking the win from Kyle Bush in stage two, will go left here, we had another green flag stop. Ryan Priest had a little problem with the right front, he pitted about four laps to go to what these guys need. About eight more laps and then they will equalize the stage by dividing this stage in half practically until the end. Can the tires hold up? I think tire wear is definitely improving. I think the rubber that is on this track right now.
Definitely much better than it was earlier in the day Chase Briscoe uh laps Kyle Bush and that will leave us with just 19 cars on the lead lap, those 48 cars, although Alex Bowman isn't going away, you see it right there. Back there in second, just lurking, you're exactly right and he was able to take advantage of Briscoe and Ryan Blaney running for that lap position down having trouble giving, you know, trouble to leader Kyle Busch, he caught him big time and I think it's because of where he is running on the track. I was able to figure that out a little better and it helps him in traffic.
The other one is this guy here. Wear it to the peace sign on Monday. Martin is two tenths of a second faster than the two leaders at the moment. Yes, he is what you called. Earlier, that orange ball is getting bigger, yes, it's Jamie Martin Junior, three-time winner, here I spoke to his crew chief, James Small, and he said we've lost speed overall this year. He said that if we manage to be in the top five today, it would be great. Obviously a win will be even better and he's had a great career. This is one of the best runs I've seen from start to this point in all the season hikes right now, just saying it's a little tough on the right side.
Hi Jay Allmendinger. comes to the pits, that race car right now it's just the front is turning better but the rear is off the track for him, a good race for Aj, it'll be a quick stop here, Brian Blaney is after giving a back down, yes, I think. This is going to start an outbreak, we're seeing more drivers hit pit road, but I think you're there now, Eric Alma rolling 10 cars to remind the driver that no mistake hit your mark so hard to hit pit lane. pits, here everyone. I've covered that many times, but no matter what you do, you won't get caught speeding on pit road.
William Byron's freedom on pit road at this moment I felt something was wrong in the middle part of that race with the rear of the race car, it did everything. The road to the end, although the leaders are in the Alexandria metro in the final stretch, everything they could, I think it was because of car 16 and caution waves for the tenth time, lap 324. I didn't want to get excited, sorry guys , but I saw that. tire right in the middle of the race track the cars were fighting and actually what I did was the first thing I saw was the spotters were standing right next to us and they were all pointing out to other spotters that the tire was on a race track, jamie, you saw kyle.
Busch just got there and the 48 did the same thing as soon as he came into the pits, but Kyle Busch is losing rear grip so he'll be happy to get these tires and you see it there, the remains of wheel 16 falling off on the right front . A.J Almandinger's car and that's the second of the day Martin Truex before with a left. Sorry, Danny Hamlin earlier with the left front and hoping no one catches it and throws it and luckily no one did. Austin Dillon might have gotten closer again. I want to drink. It was cool to see those spotters standing next to us start pointing out to other spotters that that tire was on a race track.
That's something I've never seen before. You always hear your place in your ear, but you see it firsthand. In fact, they caught my attention before that tire on the race track, which caught my attention. We need to leave the score and reset it. It may have ended up being a perfect storm for Kyle Bush and Alex Bowman. We'll see after the restart here, 75 laps early. Wow, Kyle Busch had just given up the lead to get to pit road with Alex Bowman and as they were going down to their pit stalls, the yellow flag came out for Almandinger's errant wheel and tire in turn two, yeah, what are they doing? to do Kyle Bush and Alex Bowman. what they have to do, they are a lap down with about a lap on their tires, obviously they will catch the wave when all these leaders pit now, at the time of the caution chase, Briscoe was the first car a lap down, so what you'll get the the clear passage pit road is open here come the lap leading cars regan mike ross chastain still struggling with the corner in that race car like they have been all day the problem is he loses the rear grip too much fastduring the racing battle with the 47 a while just now at the start of that race he slipped right away he said it got worse every lap after that jamie and chase elliot denied doing what he normally does he just gets better at As you go, they were happy with the pace of the nine, there, a cut. and four tires, the 47, what a race he had today, Ricky Stenhouse jr, a little free and, as everyone says, the right rear was happy to put on these sticky tires and the 19 and martin jurek's jr were a little bit hard on the right side due to tire wear no adjustments for race 19.
Jaram out of the pits chastain truex elliott christopher bell and then ricky stenhouse loses a couple of spots here so yeah conditions a lot of drivers have made a good job doing just that. I've done a good job keeping up with the changing track conditions. Congratulations foreigners to the 209 players who still have a chance to win Clint's five thousand dollars. A question for details related to the end of the race which will arrive in 72 laps. This caution flag while leader Kyle Bush and Alex Bowman were on pit road has really confused things. We're just hearing that Denny Hamlin just got arrested for speeding and upside down.
How many laps are you going to do? How hard are you going to go up? We could get. In 70 laps we showed that we could do 70 laps at that time. The disguise was not because of a tire problem, but because of a tire and wheel problem, so I feel pretty good that we can run this to the end, but I don't. I don't think we're done with caution at this point but putting alex bowman and kyle busch in the back of this field is going to be interesting yeah i picked the birthday boy right kyle busch he's going to have to make some money in the Austin circuit, you are absolutely right, it really rocked this race with this caution.
Ross Chastain moved back into the lead position, but Truex, I'm telling you, Truex has been fast all day, keep an eye on him. Martin will restart second and Aj Almandinger gets out of his car. in the garage they had raised the hood, there was a lot of smoke under the hood, maybe not related to the loss of the wheel and tire on the right front, but he was done for the day and joined cody ware bj mccloud and austin cendrick in the garage, they will restart with 70 laps left according to my past experience, if you fight against a box, the box will always win, so now he had better thoughts between the contenders. 17 cars with leading laps, including Briscoe, who is the free pass.
Kyle Bush will restart. 16. Alex Bowman will restart. 17. They were on pit road when the caution flag waved and these restarts have been wild, everyone trying to have everything in the first two laps under green, especially Kyle Larson who started outside row three. We've seen him make some bold moves and on the high side, but this time he'll start inside row three green flag mcreynolds ross chastain observer ross has been so good on these restarts that he's made absolute money whether he's on top leading or back in the group, yes, his speed in short races is simply tremendous and the jumps he has been making outside, you saw it right there first hand in the car, he was simply very successful in his starts, without a doubt eric jones sixth under the kyle larson fire series champion kyle busch coming from behind in 17.
Now Alex Bowman had a better restart, he's in 15. Three with 22 in the middle, yes, they are fighting, even the drivers who are one or more laps back because when you catch a wave and start sneaking into the field, 48. he's got some debris on the front of his car, it's a pretty big piece and he'll try it too. This looks like a piece of foam from a cardboard wall in turn three and turning Daniel Suarez, however, it was not the car that hit the wall and us. We'll put it back in and try again for the 11th caution on lap 335.
Suarez spun to avoid someone in front of him who went up and hit the wall and spun three. I don't think it's very tight at their door, they were running for 12th place with joy and suárez, well, a joy that it all started at two, the jolla was side by side, I couldn't really see who was there door to door door between the two and that gave Suárez that great race leaving in a three and when he went to lift the accelerator, he simply got into car seven, he didn't suffer much damage, but it was a miracle that another car didn't hit him, he was sliding down that slope, you can hear how he lifted the accelerator to the side and to the side that prevented the car from sliding up and hitting the wall.
Good heads up, driving on pit road is going to be pretty lonely, but we only ran about four laps and it looks like maybe Corla Joy is coming to pit road, but a lot of teams. Sitting there with only one set of tires, there are several that have two and yet you know that we are going to have around 60 laps left, Cole Custer gets the free pass on this the eleventh caution of the race that Kyle Busch had won. five places battled their way back to 15th alex bowman up to 13th after all that kenny hamlin early on the first pit stop the center wheel locking nut had fallen off the gun and drifted away they couldn't stop him from retiring pit road and lost that wheel that kyle larson turned without contact that's a hard thing to do here at dover without contact with the wall that's aj almendinger and kurt busch get together it's been a really tough day for joey logano here lapping in front to eric jones and against the wall but logano had not been very competitive denny hamlin trying to avoid a spin from cody ware instead he gets the right side very battered and ryan blaney is the winner of stage two after hamline scored on stage one and just now the eleventh yellow flag of the day daniel suárez and corey lejoy in the last 27 races at dover only two of them have had more warnings than we have had in this race so far and the writing was on the first lap wall in Saturday practice the cars were already backwards in three this track has proven to be a monster for these guys this weekend that track you know this monster mile is just a beast it's a beast in everything it had a lot Curious Larry about this race car can the components handle this challenging and demanding track they basically have?
I've been doing that, but I'm wondering why these wheels have problems on pit road. I mean, we've already put it aside and all of a sudden we had two or three today. Well, back to Denny Hammond. stopped and missed it, it was a sub 10 second pit stop so you know, and again the cat man dropped the car and that's Denny's cue to go now, I'm sure what he adds insult to Aj Almandinger, the stop he lost to Will was over 13. Seconds and I still haven't put one of the nuts in there, so Hamlin is trying to recover from a lap down and is five points away from clear pass position when we restart , there is the rubber that has been placed.
Ross Chastain is on a streak two. wins by running a lot of laps up front and in the top five and being a week-in and week-out contender and currently the leader, but Chase Elliott came here as one of the pre-race favorites, the only Hendrick driver yet to visit the lane of the win this season, can he get one here or will Martin Truex, who won twice here on Mondays, or Ricky Stenhouse, come out of row two to get this one? They will restart with 61 to go after Elliott who has not won at an oval since Phoenix, November 2020.
Absolutely. After practice I said, look at the nine ball boys, I'm telling you that's what the heat is like, but stenhouse and eric jones are right behind him running up front today, good to see it's a great start for Chase Elliott in the backfield, that time Holden Strong could reach the end. point here he takes the lead it will be a very close battle it is difficult to get out of the corners you need that track you need that space to move forward and when Chastain's is there you have to lift the throttle keep trying to get out of the corner but chase Elliott's car , it's wrapping around the bottom, the spinning cars handle well coming out of the corner, the chaser doesn't hold strong in that big outside race, side by side, for third place, plus they know how important it is that cleaning. air, if you get out front you could win this race and oh, chas, spots holding it down right away, back stretch, spin, one car, Tyler Reddick slid in without contacting anyone, but he got it , we'll try to get a run.
Here, if you can take him directly, let him take a look. There's a piece of the wall there with the nose. 12th caution of the day, lap 343. He spun into turn two and then hit that wall halfway down the backstretch. Look from afar just below the cross bridge, it's hard to tell if there was any contact. Brad Keselowski was several feet behind him and the first to take evasive action there. Tyler has had a lot of ups, downs and a lot of events over a couple of three days here in Dover. I'm sure the right front wasn't turning, that's a problem getting into your pit stall, it will be another.
Clint, you asked me, are we stopping right here and are you close to the front even though we only have 18 drivers on the lead lap? No, we only have between six and seven laps with the green flag on the tires. Brad Kozlowski will get the free pass while Reddick limps in. Here's some audio from Ross Chastain. I don't think it's really the balance of our car. There is simply no air. It's like pushing air. the left side door pushes me up like a boat like the weight of a boat, these cars do some weird things when it comes to arrows, i think especially on a one mile race track with a high bank like this, i leads back to those side-by-side races, although that We saw that he was very curious.
I looked at the board when the yellow flag came out and it was Elliot in the lead. They gave it back to Chastain because of the timeline, which is an important piece to having this reboot and being out now. tyler reddick and brad keselowski were competing for the free pass position because reddick is the warning no free pass on this yellow flag ross the boss in front with 56 to go in dover back in the pit lane of monster mile is not a very place busy with steve post we see joey legato's team working on his car and more specifically tyler reddick's team yes and they are working on it down here they return to charlotte and regroup and we get ready to do it all again next weekend in Darlington , which is too difficult a track to take on, so you know you will face some serious challenges there too, yes, and it has to be difficult, Dave, when you have a good race car, it takes a beating from contact with another driver or the safest barrier and then you just have to go around this difficult track as it is with a good race car, particularly here, Alex, because there's a note like the song is spinning for the end and then. it ended again and again ross chastain and a chevrolet leader of the year martin truex the first toyota on the third pole the one on the pole chris busher is the first ford is in eighth place we will restart with 18 cars on the lead lap again there is no pass free because the car that took out the caution tyler reddick was in the free pass position ricky stenhouse holding strong there in the second row eric jones and christopher bell christopher bell who do you want to talk about we show that heart rate, if you want, where have the five cars during all of this I'm saying 20 of Christopher Bell's have been in the lineup for this race today.
Well, I see a couple of pilots who are in that photo. Alex Bowman. Kyle Bush got burned with that caution. They have managed to return inside. top ten eleven, that's Bowman ninth and Busch in 11. Although I hate to say this and I don't want to be Debbie downer, I know it's our birthday party, he's my choice, but that was an expensive warning for him, I don't know . I know he's going to lead this again unless maybe there's some strategy on the track. You think someone maybe uses two tires. Well, we're going to have to run a little, I think, before anyone at the front even thinks about stopping.
You know, we just have. six laps on these tires, we'll think about it, I'll get back to racing, that's what we'll do now with 53 to go, perfect, another good jump for Chase Elliot's nine, can that be clarified? Yeah yeah he does and stenhouse piggybacking ricky stenhouse trying to get uh jody and tadd geschechter and brad doherty back to victory lane for the first time in 276 races. It's a great job by Chase. It's very difficult to do at the bottom of that track. Timing that and being ready for that restart, great job, Stenhouse still looking for second place here, it doesn't get any closer than that without a crash and it gets me back to this car on the arrow side, you don't see any strength issues side with this car. those guys are so close to each other, how about ricky stenhouse take second place, but you just don't see those carsThey let go side by side like they used to do with the old car as they raced, although Chase Elliot pulled out a good bit, almost a second ahead in those nine cars, Kyle Bush moved up one spot from the restart from 11th to 10th, Bowman , last year's winner still has eight chastain, he is really losing the handling of his race car, it looks tight as the cycles on the tires probably increase that pressure. down below it looks like he's fighting a tough condition, well I know this Ricky Stenhouse jr in that 47 car, he just ran his fastest lap of this race, 351 laps later, it's time baby, winning would be huge for him and his Suárez team has improved. one place from the restart cole custer two erik almarola in the free pass position first car one lap back and I don't want to discount how hard they are going to have to drive these cars now because now is the time to go, but they are If this is done without caution they will end up with about 60 laps on this set of tires, you are right, open the payment windows, I can feel it, I can taste it.
I'm going and that should be doable, right, Larry, according to That last race yeah, I just think the track has taken on enough rubber now it's certainly helped the tire wear. The fastest car on the track. That turn. Stenhouse in second, 23-52, is not a tenth faster than Chase Elliot. Kyle Bush led the most laps. 103. the most he has led in a race since leading 159 at bristol in september 2020. ross chastain has led for 81 denny hamlin 67. Although I love the fact that we have had 18 lead changes between 10 drivers, which is very unusual for dover elliott He passed us on the last lap with a 48 23 48.
You certainly heard me say on that last restart you get that thing out front, it's a rocket and it's certainly pulling away from the field. The first ford in the race is Busher in ninth place. You're riding with Harvick at No. 13. He's the leader. Stuart Haas Ford. Two spots above Cole Custer. Three in Briscoe. Six in El Marola. Martin Truax. To me, he's almost like Kyle Busch now that he's back in traffic, he's just kind of stuck, he can't go anywhere, yeah, unfortunately he hasn't moved at all. I want to change my choice. I knew I should have stuck with that nine card I told you after practice Larry is a bad machine this weekend bad mom improvising it's her turn there's the Hendrick group that swept this race last year finishing one to four led by alex bowman and the super teams it has been a tough day for team penske with ryan blaney two laps down joey logano minus three and austin centric out very early in this race you have to look hard to find joy logano in a race three laps down actually of the penske group that includes the wood harrison brothers Burton, the rookie, is the highest ranked of the 25th place guys.
You're just looking at Chase Elliott, that nine car Clinton. I spoke with Alan Gustavson a few weeks ago about what's going on. You know, it's not like they're running terrible, they're the points leader comes to this race and said it's like we can't find what Chase has been looking for in this car. We've really had to work hard and it looks like that now, at least for Dover. Many times you have focused on what he is looking for, what you are looking for is simply a victory and that changes everything, it changes your attitude, your confidence and your decision making.
All those things, they get a victory here today that will solve a problem. There are a lot of things with that team that are going well right now, Jamie and following up with what Larry was saying. I talked to Alan and he told me that Chase is a cerebral driver, he doesn't just jump in and go, he has to think everything through and that's why we see him come stronger at the end of a race than at the beginning of the race and I'm thinking that overnight he had a chance to really process today's race because they didn't expect to run that well today, his dad, uh, Bill.
Elliott will join us in Darlington for stage three next week. It's going to be amazing to have an amazing Bill in that booth with us, but I wasn't that kind of driver. Larry. He was a jump-and-go kind of guy. I need you to do it. fast car for me and I need to tell you that he was either loose or tight and I needed to stay out of everything else. I never worked with you but no doubt in my mind you got out of the carrier ranks you worked with me we set a fast time at bowman gray we did it yeah half a second faster than your old balls tony stewart hope you heard that justin haley 12 trying to keep hold off kevin harvick here bubba wallace just ahead that's it for 35th position to go chase elliott champion of our sport two seasons ago and the current points leader, but as Larry pointed out, it's the longest streak of his career without a win, while all your teammates have been in victory lane, that's what bothers you, what bothers you the most, is when your teammates are having success with the same type of team as you.
You, boy, there is nothing more frustrating, but you never get over it, like you never show it. Every time there is a free race, Larry I will ask him. I picked you this weekend after practice. I think you're the heat, we'll have to see all it will say is it's a long season, our time will come. I saw Bubba Wallace go by Kevin Harvick. This is a battle for 11th place. This could be Bubba Wallace's best day since he finished second. at the Daytona 500 in February, this is where the crew chief starts going over everything that happens if the yellow flag comes out with 20 to go and if it comes out with 10 to go I'm like you Clint, if we go too far deeper if I'm going to pit based on what we saw with justin haley in that 31 car, I'm thinking two tires on the right side only, but I think if we go down to about ten to go to track position, king, It doesn't matter what tires you have, well, we saw that with a 12 car, Blaney stayed out on old tires and kept him away from Chase.
Briscoe has done a good job of recovering from being down a lap earlier. Let's go back to the front with Jamie. How's Ricky? stenhouse jr is the biggest surprise in the top five and it's not a test or a strategic decision, they've been in the top ten all day and Mike, if you look at the stats, hasn't even finished in the top 20 since Fontana. good shot in the arm for this team everyone will eat frobert this afternoon great race for stenhouse now here is kyle busch battling chris busher and taking ninth place from the center pole he is running just under a tenth of a second faster than leader Chase Elliot, but there is a long way to go 7.3 seconds behind and 29 laps to get there.
Nice bounce for Chase Briscoe who got the competition caution free pass and then another on lap 324 when Allmendinger lost his wheel, made some adjustments and well done Eric Jones has been in the top 10 all day as he gets done move aside to let a non-racing alex bowman pass, you're right, speeding, that car 48 is flying right now passing both cars, larson and eric jones, like they're standing still, 48 is heading forward, yeah, right now he's running six, a little over five and a half seconds behind, I think with 27 laps to go he's going to need the help of a yellow flag if he wants to get there and really fight for the win. 14th place, Suárez and Wallace. keep swapping that position back and forth and cole custer with them kyle larson moves on to eric jones that's for seventh place a lot of changes here except at the top the front four that hold the station eliot stenhouse chastain and truex truex was expected make a forward march here like he had done after each of the last restarts, but there's martin running, he's a tenth shepherd than elliot right now in fourth place two and a half seconds back, you know, i want to get back to the report from jamie about ricky stenhouse jr and 47 crew brian patty they have made seven trips to the pits all have been for four tires and they have been solid right in the 10 and 11 second group without errors these tires are going to be a problem alex bowman is the most fast Lap the only driver in less than 24 seconds, Bowman, in sixth place, 23 to go and by problem I don't mean a problem, I mean the guy who handled them, the best nurses to see these things through to the end, that's an art that you will have. to take care of that thing, don't lean on that wheel, we've seen so many right fronts having problems, the best battle on the track is right here bubba wallace daniel suarez cole custer fighting hard for 14th place, that's a pretty good bounce for daniel suárez in that 99 car considering the spin it doesn't make many laps you see denny hamlin in the photo but he is one lap down michael mcdowell joins the battle on the high side and brad kozlowski also one lap down ricky stenhouse will leave here having run as many top five laps today as he did in the first 10 races of the season.
Yes, Dover has proven to be everywhere for these teams, some of them have really made it like Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Brian Patty and others, Pinsky. guys, what a fight, Tyler Reddick caught him off guard, didn't he? Now Stenhouse gained a tenth of a second on Ellie on the last lap and four tenths on this lap, coming, yeah, Chase really has to work on the lap traffic right now. really absolutely hurting your lap times and now the only car and Truex is right behind Stenhouse Sandhouse, you're going to have to do a good job of passing these cars on the lap, be quick with them, don't stop, they'll be right behind you if you guess who runs together now?
Ross John State and Martin Trex Jr. Did they ever break up? I don't believe it. He battles for third place and it's Truex once again running him over and having to pass the first time Martin Truex won. Here it was. driving a number one car for Dei and there are ten laps around Harrison Burton, which means they are in second, third and fourth right there, with 18 laps left, which is probably just what Chase Elliott wants to hear, but they are wrong. fighting each other two seconds back sin house junior did a great job getting through those four or five laps the cars have now moved another one out of their way that battle is certainly heating up the guy daniel suarez and bubba wallace have been driving their hearts out until here for these The last 30 laps are still 14th, 15th and 16th with Cole Custer and about a half straight ahead of our leader Chase Elliot.
I mean, it looks like about half the field in front of him is a pretty big group. 15 to go and Elliott's lead, which had been reduced to 1.2 seconds, has now increased to 2.1. I see stenhouse, you know, riding with him in second, moving a little bit, like he came out of the back finding a little bit of grip looking for a little bit of grip in the middle of the track, I see Chastain running high, he's feeling it too things now that it's back to the bottom, yeah, I think everyone is starting to move now because they know Mike's point, 14 laps to go, those tires are banged up.
It wore out the other part of that again, you know, moving around trying to find that grip, thinking about what's ahead, those lappers you talked about with so many cards back that you get into a bunch of lappers and you can't. , you know, move around you. We will be in trouble next on fs1 after the race here in Dover. Speak for yourself. 12 laps left to chase Elliot Pretty.staying pretty steady at 2.1 seconds or more ahead of ricky stenhouse who opened a small gap between chastain and truex to stay bumper to bumper now he's going to say open that gap because these two are fighting once again against truex trying to get to the outside of chastain.
Cassini is making the car as wide as possible, probably making a little mirror when driving, now the money is on the line, look how late he got to the gas when Truex hit the gas before him, tight in the middle year of the contract for Truex, some speculation, this could be his last trip to the monster mile, not sure what will happen next season with Martin and that number 19. Yes, I know Martin hasn't found victory lane this year, but this group is definitely starting to come to life. A good top five at Talladega last week, which is unusual.
If Martin got that at Talladega and a good race here so far in eight of our ten races this year, we still wouldn't have had the final pass to lead the most Nascar in the first 10 races of any season he's been in . Unpredictable, who could believe that we would be 10 races away or that our two multiple winners would be William Byron and Ross Chastain and look at all the drivers who were one corner away from victory and Chastain now left with a small gap over Truex? backing up uh in front of his teammate christopher bell ryan just glued to this race track trying to watch these cars watch out for someone slipping in the round losing thedriving his race car someone went up the hill in turn four recovered it tyler ready with a damaged The car recovered it and wants to complete these last seven laps without incident.
The guy Ryan Blaney won a stage, then lost two laps and was never able to recover in that number 12. The guy chases Elliot, our leader in a hornet desk at the moment with the drivers trying to fight. to stay on the lead lap just fighting him overall here as we'll get to five to go spotter Eddie to the hawks has to guide him through here five more third place will be chastain and truex's race just two cars of distance and opportunity ahead and those lappers you have to use as a choice for truex it's almost like he's a little late cooling his tires I'll try to time one of these lappers and make him pounce on it oh kyle busch trying for seventh place here he's not going to get the w but he's worked hard to get that car back into the top five yeah just that ill timed warning for kyle bush and alex bowman bowman sixth kyle eighth right now three more wallace 16 going a lap down puts cole custer 15 the last car on the lead lap notice how calm eddie dahan is on the radio he doesn't say much just the facts ma'am just the facts you complete shows that way from chase elliot all the way down allen alan gustavson , the team leader.
Also, just get this back on the line as quickly as possible with one lap left, sponsored by Credit One Bank so Chase Elliott becomes the fourth and final Hendrick driver to visit victory lane this season so quickly as in practice once the nine cars arrived. The lead proved to be the fastest in the race and Kyle Busch led the most laps today, 103, but Chase Elliott and his Hendrick Motorsports Camaro will lead the last. I want to see a

of this, but I'm telling you that you went for it's right, flag, Elliott got to the line and gets the win, but this is what happens with the third Chastain got up.
I have never seen the chassis move up, close the door on it, it came loose and once it was turned on its side it could never get back up. He's going to feel frustrated, yes, he will be. We just talked about the great run he had and, unofficially, Martin Truex is 12 years old. It's the 14th career victory for second-generation star and series champion Chase Elliott, who won at Road America last time out. Last year, 26 races ago, it was his first victory on an oval track in 46 starts and his first victory of the season, where he becomes the ninth different driver to win in 11 races this year, that sure puts them at four in victory lane this year and in the playoffs, yes, without a doubt, the organization that everyone is chasing.
He came here as the outstanding leader, which would automatically qualify him for the playoffs, but it is the first time that a Nascar team has won with four different drivers in just the first 11 races of a season that we have seen with him in this 19, when they obtain that first win, they can get very, very dangerous, yes mister jamie littles, with our winner, all the fans standing on the fence, so excited that their favorite driver, Chase Elliot, makes it today, Chase i. I talked to alan gustafson this morning he said we're not very good, we weren't very good yesterday, what did you two do together to this car to be so dominant in the second half of this race and finally get back to victory lane?
Finally, some good circumstances, I really appreciate Alan and our entire team for moving forward. You know, we've had some tough races in the last, I don't know, four or five months, and it's great to get Napa back. to victory lane great to hamper motorsports back to victory lane I'm just very proud that this means a lot in so many different ways but I appreciate all the effort watch out we're moving forward but thank you all fans to come who are It's always amazing, I hope to see this great crowd here next year, but a big thank you to everyone involved.
It's been a fun day and we're certainly going to enjoy, like I told you after the race, those guys. I've been deserving one for a while so I'm glad we were able to cross the line first and we'll enjoy it for a few days and go to work next week. There's that Chase Elliot smile we haven't seen in a long time. returns to victory lane for the first time this season elliot the winner ricky stenhouse with a great second place and you see on the left of the screen ross chastain and martin truex agreeing to disagree regan mike it was a great day for ricky stenhouse jr a second place, this team needed something good to happen and it was definitely going to happen today, yeah, that's right, man, uh, you know, it's been a rough start to the season, our short track program has been bad and then all our other good ones races we have had.
I had good races, something has always happened, it's very good to put it all together, we have a new partner, the frozen farmer, it's 40 minutes down the road, the whole family is here, so it was a great day for us. I felt like you knew we had a car capable of winning, obviously, coming off pit road. You know, at different times, my boxes grew. He did a great job keeping us in front all day and this feels good. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going. big tracks, the tracks that we have moving forward or really good tracks for us, so it was a lot of fun, a lot of battle, you know, it's hard to overtake, but it was fun racing through the lap traffic and I really hope we wish we had done it.
Kind of a 70 lap race to finish there but overall our Kroger team is doing a great job and we're looking forward to keeping that momentum thanks Ricky good job thanks Regan Chase Helly's going to celebrate and Kyle Bush finishes with a 7th place. finishing on his birthday you have to wonder what could have been because that ill-timed warning to him when he was in the pits could well have cost him the win, well yeah I'd say Kyle Bush and Alex Bowman seem to have the two best cars. and we got to that point where we felt like everyone had to make a pit stop because of tire wear, but unfortunately they make their own pit stop and the yellow flag comes out.
Clint Ross Chastain Martin Truax made it to the final lap later. Being together all day, all day, they battled Truex constantly, had to pass Ross Johnson's, passing him practically every race, and then ended up smashed into the back wall at the end of the race. I promise you that cat is frustrated. jamie, what a day again for Ross Chastain, he ends up taking home third, but he couldn't get off 19th, what did they say there? Oh, we were talking about where we can go fishing next week. Now I was super proud of this effort. I mean, I thought we were a fifth place car and a couple of guys were unlucky that the yellow flag came out and that got us into the lead and the pit crew was amazing today, they're just gaining spots at every stop and we're getting there. they put in the lead and I'm racing champions and beat Mike a good day here at Dover Darlington next week and the racing center tonight on fs1 at 6pm. m. the next cup race on race day at Darlington at 2pm. m.
ET and then throwback weekend tonight on fs1 nascar race up Hendrick Motorsports last year went one through four at Dover they didn't do it today but they chased down Elliott and now all four of Rick's drivers have won 11 races in the season. See you in Darlington, friends.
