wood

signs

that we've made in

so be sure. to get on those cozies, make sure you grab a drink, a snack and let's get into them, okay, let's get started. I'm so sorry for this shitty shadow. I'm trying to adapt to show you and I can't understand this shadow. I hope the next time I make a wooden sign I will fix this problem, so I'm trying to show it to you here.

Look at those lines that you guys asked me a couple of times, like what lines am I talking about. These are glued pine wood panels so you should always have like the line where you glued them these are amazing project pieces because you already have that perfect line set up for you now I already sanded this I already stained this if you want to see how I do it I do, I'll link the first video part one above, so for this I did before I made that template, I decided how far I wanted to go on my piece of wood and then I measured the length and width of that part and that's how I decided what so big I was going to make my template, so here I showed you guys that I'm using aura.

More Interesting Facts About,

top 10 wood signs in 2020 diy wood round diys step by step wood round tutorial wood rounds...

Is it wearing a mask? No, I do not know. This is um. The tape is two, three, three. I'll try to link it below. You can get this. tape in a similar parking lot with car detailing in stores in your area if you try to buy them on Amazon it is absolutely outrageous the price of this tape but y'all this tape gives you the cleanest lines and sticks very well because it is used for painting . cars and so on, it adheres very well to wood. If I use plain old painter's tape, I always have some kind of bleed, so I recommend this tape.

I'll link it to Amazon so you can see what it's called. and what it looks like, but I would definitely check with a local store, so here I'm showing you guys how to play with your paints because on the left is the oxide-oleum charcoal, in the middle is the milk paint eclipse and on the right is rich black folk art she wanted black and I wanted to give her what she asked for so I'm glad I tried all of those first so I ended up going with folk art rich black chalk paint guys this with one coat now .

I'm going faster on this because you guys have seen me do this before in the previous one. I'm putting on an even coat and then as you see I take my roller and I go over it again like that, you don't see the lines on the end of the roller if that makes sense to you and then I always get my sides, I mean each one because sometimes it might add dimension or whatever the case may be, but I like to make the bottom of my posters and sorry, that's not the case. in the frame but it's not like it's a big deal and then we're going to wait for it to dry guys this only took one coat one coat of that deep black and now look oh oh there's nothing there's no better feeling than take We remove the tape or a stencil and we see no bleeds and your girl is going to save that tape because it's expensive and we're going to reuse it on another project, so look at this, look how clean the lines are, look how straight they are because I used the lines which were already there for us to put that in, so now guys, I'm going to grab these template tools and I bought them at Hobby lobby.
They're called um show stencil tools show-offs dauber set and it comes in five pieces, um, as you can see on my piece of wood, I practiced before doing this, I'm telling you, don't do anything permanent if you've never used it, practice first , um, you want to make sure that this brush is completely covered. and around the edges or else you're going to get like a half circle so make sure you play around with some scrap wood with this, um, they came, I think it's three, not two sizes of the size that I'm using and then one.
That's kind of I would say triple the size and I went ahead and just put them where I thought they should go and this was the first time I used this. I was so excited that my client said, yes, I love some polka dots. So I was very excited. I will definitely use them a lot in the future. Be sure to use your 40 off coupon code at Hobby Lobby. It originally costs 4.99 in the bag. I'll try to link them below so that our mole is there. Great, now we are completely dry. I'm going with my linen white chalk paint, which is a roller that I bought at Menards.
It's smaller than the one I used before because we don't need to cover a lot of space here and paint. We also don't need that much, so you can always pour more, start with a little so you don't waste paint and go from there. Okay, so pour that baby. I love using my Rust-oleum chalk paints on anything you can. use your waverly your folk art, it doesn't matter, I just like things like white or mostly just white, like having the big can is really nice because I use a lot, so buying the smaller ones just isn't practical, okay? this vinyl guys this is an aura mask vinyl stencil a13 works amazing if you are trying to stencil over paint.
I have tried the 651 permanent it tears up my paint 8 13. I have too many bleeds on the removable vinyl and this is by far the best stencil out there I rarely have bleeds I don't want to say never I rarely have bleeds I like it how I'm playing with it right now, I don't just like to hold on to the board and just hit you. You can move it, it's easy to cut and you can get it. I have a roll to try on Amazon. I'll link it below and you can also buy them on glossy vinyl, I mean anywhere you can get it. here guys, I'm getting the top of the t, the top of the e on the and I'm using that as my guide to correct it so that I don't have crooked text there and then I get my ruler and I'm measuring the top of the t and the top of the e because I know they're straight lines, so I want to make sure they're the same distance from the top of our black line.
I hope I'm explaining that. so they weren't even so I adjusted it again um you just have to take your time with these guys there's nothing worse than putting down your stencil to paint and then picking up your sign and realizing your text is crooked it's horrible . now we're just pressing this you've seen me do this a million times just make sure you press this really, really good you want to get into all the cracks the crevices I'm not using my um my vinyl tool I like to rub on top because this is paint black chalk and I don't want to scratch it doing it, so now I'm peeling it off.
I swear this contact paper was so sticky I think it was Walmart duck commando at times. it gets like that and I don't know why that's why I said in previous videos that I love silhouette contact paper because it comes off so easy but it's so hard to get the vinyl to stick to it that's why I always come back to this one or to the contact paper that you can get at Dollar Tree, so you can also get a larger roll of contact paper from Dollar Tree, not or not at Dollar Tree from Walmart, so Walmart has the contact paper and they have this duck.
I command things, so now that we have that there, I'm taking my fingers and I'm rubbing all those edges. I don't want any bubbles or gaps where our paint can fall, so just to make sure we have extra security. take my finger, I rub all those letters on the edges and just make sure we don't have any bubbles, so now I'm taking this is just a basic painter's tape, this is not the one I said was expensive. um and I'm just marking anywhere that is black and anywhere that if I'm not careful it would be bad to turn white, so I taped all my edges to this template because, man, if you screw up this sign at this point, it won't be good. , so I hope to get that corner.
Did I get that corner? Well, I'm looking right now because I probably saw a bubble or something in the vinyl that I want to make sure is pushed down, okay? I didn't get that side that's okay, so I'm just giving it a thin roll. Okay, you don't want to press down on the roller because if you press down on it, you're going to be spreading a lot of paint and it's going to get under the stencil, so don't push down, just cover it lightly because you might go back and do more coats, so just one light layer here, I'm just trying to cover all of our text first and then you'll see me go back and do the same technique.
How I like to pass the brush especially to be able to even out the texture of the paints so that you don't see all my roller marks. I don't know, I don't think I'm explaining it well, but this. I ended up taking three coats of white chalk paint on them. See how I go slowly from one side to the other because the end of that roller will leave like a line mark, so if you apply different pressure while rolling it, I will see that line throughout the text, I think that was a better explanation, like this which I always go over lightly and try to match everything I just did, so here we go, that was the first coat, I let it dry completely and then I go back and do my second coat and do it the same way slightly and then I'll apply it like this to make sure it's even and just make sure you take a good look at it to see if it's better to paint somewhere like on your text or something and then this is, I think the third layer again.
I waited until the second coat was completely dry. You can also put a hair dryer on cold, not hot, and if you want to speed up the process just a little and now. We're done guys, this is the best if it's not about removing the tape from a straight line, but about taking in its scent. Look, I can't wait, I can't wait, come on, take that corner, take that corner girl and then when you say, oh my God, was he bleeding more or not and I was like, yeah, not bleeding, but then look at that mark white and you see that no, no, it's there, it's there and guess what that is where I didn't put painter's tape.
That's why they cover it right there, so I also love this stencil paper or sorry, vinyl because it's not. I always use 651 if I'm painting directly on wood and I like that, it sticks well so it takes a little effort to remove it again, but this vinyl stencil comes off very easily. Be sure to remove it when using chalk paint. The chalk paint, as you peel it off, crumbles a little. Therefore, like my fist. It's on the wood part, not the black part, because if you get some of those little bits that seem to fall off and you accidentally rub it on the black or any paint, it will stay like it was painted on and you won't be able to remove it. so you have to do it, that's why I keep brushing every little bit, if I see a little bit of chalk paint I take it off because I don't want to risk accidentally rubbing it with that black paint, so be careful and also be careful when you're weeding your small parts, especially on top of the black paint, because you don't want to scratch the wood because then it's going to leave a mark and you're going to take some of that black paint off and you don't want that.
Either, we're done with that, we need to cover that black, so all I do is take my folk art black chalk paint, oh, sorry, deep black, and I'm lightly taking a fine brush and going over it, and you guys , they will do that. dry again to a matte finish you won't even know I did it right so hello it's a new day always wait overnight before applying varnish. Okay, that's very important because you have to leave it. Sorry, I'm just using the dryer because I have dogs and stuff, and I'm making sure I don't have dog hair in there, or extra little bits of chalk paint.
I'm just making sure all the debris is off of my sign so it doesn't stick there. the clear one, like I was saying, the chalk paint needs 24 hours. I found this at Menards amazing. It's called a paint dozer and you can use it to remove the top of the can and you have this little part of the rim where you run it. the sides and put the paint back in the tray, you know, it's like you pour the paint can and then there's all that extra left on the stamp, there I have two, I have two extra for gifts, okay, so do it.
You see how I like to remove all the excess. This Helsmann is very much like it has a watery texture, I don't know, not texture, um, but you don't need much, a little bit goes a long way, okay, so don't get your board wet. with it, make sure that if you're putting this outside, Helsmann water-based, okay, you want it to be water-based, if you don't get a water-based, you're going to see the yellow in your white paint, so make sure that whether water based, I have Helsmann. water based link below in my description um make sure you're getting every inch of this too so look down if you see any little matte pieces showing through it shouldn't show matte if the paint It's wet so just make sure You're getting every piece of this so I'm sorry, I'm still, you have to wait 24 hours to clear because the chalk paint, if you don't wait, it has to cure, if you don't, it has to set.
Wait and put this on clear it's going to look like a chalk paint stain so wait take your time and then wipe it off so if this was inside if you knew the sign was going inside you might as well use polyacrylic make sure you're safe . using water based sonow I'm getting our edges, as you can clearly see, I mean you have to get your edges anyway, but I mean, look at that, if you don't get them and let them dry, it would dry exactly like this. with those cloudy drips and we don't want that so make sure you don't forget to get your sides because you'll have it dripping.
I never have to dip my brush back into my can to do my sides because I have a lot of it dripping from the top, so make sure you do all that and I'm just using a chippy brush. I actually found these amazing synthetic brushes. I think they are synthetic from Walmart and I want to try using them on one of these

signs

next time because it usually doesn't happen on this video though, but the chippy brushes always fall off and then you're trying to get them off your wood sign like this that I want to try it next time, I'll try it for you guys because I think it would be a lot better, okay, that's good, I have my hair dryer, it's on cold and I'm just running it through just to dry myself a little bit and then I'll walk away, I'll let the rest dry on its own and then we'll come back, so I'm using a dog pee pad.
These are amazing for crafting. Okay, you can use whatever you want, but I'm using this because I have to turn my sign upside down and I don't want to risk hurting the front. Even though it's clean now, I don't know what I normally do. If you watched the other video, I clean the back first because I don't like putting my sign face down on my table. Don't ask me why, but just no. like after painting it and working so hard on it, putting it upside down and crafting all the time so there can be paint, I don't know something, I don't want to take the risk, so I usually clean the back and put the hooks on on D before painting the front, so that's the synthetic briny, okay, the bad.
I tried it, it's the synthetic brush from Walmart, it came in a pack of three and I think it was like four dollars. and now I remember it worked great, so here are my D hooks, full disclosure. The D hooks I linked in my Amazon account are not exactly these, they are no longer available, so I did some research and found an alternative for them. I looked at the reviews, they are the closest thing to these I could find, so they are also linked below on Amazon. I usually always go in at least three inches on each side with my D hooks.
I usually angle them in just because I like it. when you lift the ribbon to hang it, it naturally goes towards the middle. I am using my natural line that the wood already gives us. um for my um, what do you call it for my guide? So it's super easy because you have your guide right there. Right now we are tying our rope, this is where we didn't see last in the video, so I always cut my burlap ribbon to 22 inches long. I think it's the perfect size for these. They can use whatever they want. you can make this burlap, you can make some patterned ones, you can make, I don't know, the possibilities are endless, you can tie some twine to it if you want, it just needs to be thicker twine, obviously, than the thin one from the dollar tree, okay, like this which now I'm putting these through my loops, you guys, like I said in the previous video, make sure you put something behind it because obviously you don't want the hot glue to get to your sign, so I always have something that protects what I need. investing in what I think would be awesome is my nifty hot glue stick it's a silicone mat I need one I have.
I've ruined a lot of my measuring mats and such due to hot glue and I really just need to invest in a silicone mat. I wonder if you could use the silicone mats you find at the dollar tree to place your pans and things your girl is going to try. Okay, I need to remember, so now I'm pushing. I do this down with my finger because I want the hot glue to get into all those little cracks in the burlap ribbon. The other day someone asked me in the comments of the video above if I've ever had problems using just hot glue and the answer is no.
I've had signs hanging on my doors for quite some time. However, I do have a storm door that protects them, but I have never had any problems and I have never had a customer come back and tell me that it is falling apart or It won't hold up, as far as I know they are fine with the glue hot. You can also use the hot glue and mix it with e6000 too if you want. I wouldn't suggest using staples or anything like that, although make sure when you're hot gluing this and don't leave it stuck to the cardboard if you don't have a silicone mat because you'll tear the cardboard with it.
That's just advice, but your girl will go and try it. one of those silicone mats from Dollar Tree and see if that works. This is me. I don't know why I did that, probably because there was a notification at the top of my phone, but I can't stand the little threads of the glue gun covering you and you, I use, sure, bonder glue guns, I have this blue one I'm using, it's like it's my dad, I actually ruined it, I messaged them today because I can't find this one on their website or anything to see if there is one comparable to this one.
I've had my blue one for over five years and I use a black and green one from time to time, but that's for detailed projects so I'm definitely more put together. I have the green and the black one linked below, it's great for all projects, just you know, laughing at something that isn't broken, I love my old glue gun, you know, and I love using that other secure bond one because it has a good one, what does it do? You call it like the point where the glue comes out is very small and fine, so I love using it to make felt flowers.
It's perfect for felt flowers, so yeah, go ahead and check that out. I made sure to place one that had some in it. some glue is already there for you and everything, so there you have it and we're just doing, I don't know why I didn't speed this up, I'm sorry guys, because I don't think anyone needs to see this. in real time it's self explanatory but if it's not my finger I'm using my nifty stylus and again after you're done rubbing it pick it up right away if you're using something other than a silicone mat so you're warm . the glue gun won't stick to that cardboard.
Look, I almost forgot, that would have been poop. Let me know if you work on these. Okay, sorry, I can't get into that conversation. Then she said that she wanted sunflowers. She didn't specify if she wanted bows or anything, she just said she wanted sunflowers, black and white polka dots, I told her okay so first I'm going to play with these, I think they're from Michaels, these sunflowers and um, always you guys, the Biggest piece of advice, always keep open communication with your clients. It's okay because what they like, they may not like or what they think is spectacular, they'll be like no, that's not at all what I wanted, so I played with these and I did this, took a photo of it and sent it to him.
She said is this what you want? She said no, I wanted her to go. I feel like she needs more sunflowers, so I put them all together like this. I sent her a picture and she was still like I don't know. Like she just wasn't working out for me, so I was like, you know what? Let me try it with a bow and then maybe it will work and I'll send you another photo, so first I made this bow and I was like, no, no, I don't. I don't know why, but I don't like those bows, so I already had this pre-made burlap bow and I thought, you know what's cute?
It took me about five minutes to think, guys, it's no big deal, okay? I'm okay, we're doing that, so this is how I'm going to show you how to attach your flowers to this so you don't have to glue them all on your board and then glue your no, we don't do that, okay, so I'll walk you through this. . I made a

step

by

step

tutorial

on these bows. I'll link it above, that's why I'm moving quickly. This is because I do a very, very complete step by step in another video, but I'll go slower when I show you how I'm going to attach this, um, this bow on the flowers, so I love you guys, I'm not good at like cutting the flower stems and then connecting them if you just watched my last diy calendar video oh my gosh that was a disaster on the flowers i tried to make.
I love it when you can take bundles like bundles like a whole bundle of branches or flowers and then just put them right together and not have to play with them, like the placement of them, I mean, your girl will, if someone wanted to, you know, a bouquet of different flowers, I'll figure it out and it only takes me. some time, but I'm really good at gluing them together and I'm really good if they're whole bundles, so here we are finally, I had to redo this bow like twice because it wasn't giving my sides, so here's our thread. our strand, our burlap from the middle, remember if you go back and watch my video, it's just a strip of burlap, so I'm using my wire cutters.
You can get them at any hardware store. These were just given to me by my husband so I don't know I'm going to try to find them on Amazon for you guys and now I'm going to play with my placement before I glue them or wire my flowers okay so always you guys always play around like we test paint first. We try the daubers first like you have to make sure I don't care how many times you do it, you play with it first because I don't know how many times I've done this bow, but I don't understand it.
It's usually right the first time I have to play with it because if I had just glued this on, I probably wouldn't have been happy with it because I wanted to push the flowers in a little bit more. Look, I'm pushing them in. I want them to look fluffy and full, so take your time, I know everyone's excited, but go slow, that's what they say, slow and steady, when's the race or something? Okay, now I found the location, I know where I want. My flowers are going to be, I know how I want them to be together and I'm taking a wire ribbon.
Guys, this wire ribbon from Dollar Tree. I don't want to touch it because I've used it several times, but it's super thin. It's hard to tighten so I'm using my pliers trying to wind it up and then I'm going to wrap it around the flowers. I picked up floral tape the other day and I'm going to try it and see if it makes a big difference for me, it makes it a little bit easier so I'll definitely let everyone know that okay the flowers are connected to each other and they won't move and now let's put our bow on our burlap burlap bow she's cool she's cute you guys I don't know what I'm talking about here okay I think it's really fun I'm looking at things seriously if you guys watched most of these videos on real time, I'll legit do it, I'll just watch something for like five minutes and really think about it because I think I don't want to commit to you until I'm a hundred percent sure that you know, so committed here, I'm ready to go, so I'm wrapping the thread once and then we're going to wrap it a second time.
Now you guys, this is tight, this is a tight wrap, my flowers don't go. nowhere, okay and we haven't even glued them together yet, but you know they're not going to move because one you've already wired up and now two you've secured on this little bow bed, I don't know. What I'm talking about now, I'm taking my glue gun and as usual, I'm putting a healthy amount of hot glue in there. If you guys don't think hot glue will hold up to this, you can always add a little bit of e6000, so but. Just keep in mind that with the e6000 it gets super hard, so that can get in the way if you try to stick it on the board and it wobbles and isn't flat, if that makes sense, so I'm just taking my finger anyway. and by pressing it I want to make sure it fits into all the slots of the burlap and then we're going to put another generous amount on top because we don't want them to go anywhere and this is my dollar tree burlap, I think I was very lucky to have found all that 10 yard burlap in California, haven't seen it once here in Kansas so I was very lucky and didn't find it on their website so Walmart is your best bet or maybe I don't know , it's just that I've never looked online for real burlap stores or anything, so we'll see, okay, we don't want that duck tail in there, that duck story has got to go, girl, it's like a mullet business in the main party at the I'm back, but I'm not willing to go to that party right now, okay, we're not at a party, we have to get down to business, so the mullet tail is coming off, here we go, let's go, We shake or let go and then you, uh.
So this is where I usually get some e6000 hot glue, put it on the back of the arch area and then put a piece of wood on top to hold it in place and then leave it overnight for 24 hours. The e6000 has a gelatinous substance. to keep it moving that's why you always add hot glue to make it hold immediately so you can keep it where you want but guys I sent this photo to my client and she didn't want the bow either so I wanted more flowers not to her He didn't like the group in the middle either, me personally,so we grouped it to the side she didn't want leaves or anything so you guys cover that bottom part, you'll see why I do it. the e6000 around and then I'm putting the hot glue on and then I'm going to re-glue this baby but look what happened oh look I dropped that imagine if that wasn't there my piece would have been ruined because that glue It hasn't come off and if it had come off it would have peeled the paint off so hard, that's why I protected it and my goodness, thank you, thank you, oh my goodness, I would have been devastated to get this far into the project and then ruin it. with something as simple as that goodness, talk about making your heart skip a beat, so like I said a moment ago, I'm using the e6000 because I want the durable cement to stick to it and then I'm using the hot glue because I want it to stick. stay in place right now while I do this and while I do this you I'm just moving one flower at a time because I want to keep my location like I want to remember where I had these flowers so I'm moving them one at a time as I do this.
I hope that makes sense, so check it out. how I kept the other flower in place because I want to make sure I put it back where I had it and these real sunflowers were perfect because they had the perfect place to put the hot glue and everything, make sure I always use coupons, I use dollar tree flowers on some of my stuff, but usually for these

rounds

and stuff I'll use nicer flowers, like Michael's Joanne's Walmart, which has stellar flowers and other things available, so check them out too and look at you guys, she's stunning. so beautiful like she was so excited, I already told my client I was already doing another one of these, but I'm going to use the bow with the sunflower and I'm going to use a couple more lines on that oh.
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited, so happy when clients ask you to do something you haven't done before, like I haven't made a black and white sign, I haven't made polka dots, I haven't done that. I made sunflowers so I got excited and she was really happy with the way it turned out which makes me super happy and it also makes my heart super happy when I know I made something for someone else and they love it so I I noticed. Guys, because I dropped this big flower and some of the glue came off, I'm gluing my hot glue gun behind it and I'm putting a little bit more glue in there to make sure it stays on, so I think.
I show you yeah, like there was a space there, so I made sure to put a little bit in there so that flowers don't fall on the floor later and you guys, someone asked me how I packed them, so I'll let you guys move on. And notice these are all from the dollar tree. These can be found in the craftsmen section. Some of them are from Heidi Swap. Some of them are Dollar Tree brand, but they are so beautiful that I have my business card and then we will handwrite them. a note I think it's very important to write a note by hand and not just give it as a generic printout from your computer or something that has stamps on it.
I love writing things by hand, so that's what we do, so all my notes tell my client. Thank you very much, of course, I put his name. Thank you so much for supporting my small spa business. I had so much fun creating it and I can't wait to see a photo hanging in your room, Sammy, so now I'm going to get this. little card make sure you get your business card of course and I'm just going to punch them out hopefully that wasn't like that yeah that's cool I didn't even think to look at what I'm cutting out a little bit of course I I forgot about the thread. so I'm just going to get some twine, make it easier, simpler, if you're selling to local people, you don't have to be extravagant with this, you don't have to wrap it up and use all your shipping resources and stuff like that because people usually when they grab it they want to see it right away, so what I'm going to do is come back here and tie this up.
What I really want to get is an um like what are those called? like a branding stamp to put on all my wood because I don't know, I don't feel comfortable putting a vinyl sticker on it, I just don't know, I mean, if I get some cake you don't know honey, um, I had a sticker on the back, I would just say, uh, that kind of thing, don't put stickers on my stuff, you know, but if I had a mark on there, I don't. I know why I feel different, but it's written there that now she has my business card, there's a personal note for her and she's ready to go, so I know some of you wanted to see how I pack up my place or what.
I do it with them and that's it guys, well here she is and in all the glory of her it turned out absolutely stunning. I texted my husband a photo right away and thought he was going to make a lot more of those, um, which he was very proud of. You guys and I if you enjoyed this video again please give me a big thumbs up be sure to subscribe it helps my growing channel a lot and I would love to make more of these for you guys so have a great week I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you learned something Hello to all my wood sign lovers.
I hope you are enjoying these videos so far. I hope it has given you a lot of inspiration. I hope you are learning a lot. I just wanted to remind you again that I am changing my dates to Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and instead of having a designated day for the wood signs, they will be mixed in with my DIYs. Now I always put my photos on my thumbnails so you know if wood signs are something you come to my channel for. You will be able to see them and know what videos those wooden signs will have so they don't disappear, they just won't be there on a designated day, so make sure you like the wooden signs. you like DIY make sure to subscribe hit the like button it really helps my channel help me as a staff and yeah so guys let's go ahead and get back to all these wooden signs bye so we're remodeling that other one autumn. sign, so we're going to take it apart, so guys, these felt flowers were there, if they were hot glued to the wood, they didn't move at all, so I grabbed my husband, he was like a blue zombie and, um, we had to get like this. like a scraper tool that had a razor blade to remove this but unfortunately that razor blade scratched my wood but fear not all we have to do is tilt our orbital sander up look how I'm tilting it up and just go over it and you can smooth out all those indentations so I thought I was out of 80 grit sandpaper so I switched to my sander that I normally use on furniture and let me tell you I recommend 110 orbital sander instead of this one.
I just feel like you have more control over it, it's easier to use, it covers more surface area and yeah, so my husband says, uh, maybe if you looked you'd see there was 80 grit sandpaper and I was like, yeah, whatever. , brother, there it is. So guys, we need to cover these holes because this is going to be reversible, so I'm going to take the star link gap filler. You guys saw me use this in the other video and we're going to fill them in now, yeah. it's comparable to a wood filler but this one is amazing because it dries instantly with this accelerator, that's why I love it, you don't have to wait, you can just go ahead with your project and get started, and it doesn't discolor the stain when you put stain on top of it, it seems there was never anything there so now I'm smoothing it all out with some 220 grit sandpaper so it's nice and buttery smooth it looks so good now let's remove our tint which is the isp switch I need to look for that on Google and I'm grabbing my microfiber towel.
You can get them at any hardware store. You can get them at Walmart. I just cut them into squares and then we're going to do the front and back and let's go. to do the sides here and I prefer to use microfiber towels because I feel like they hold a lot of my stain, they distribute the stain evenly and I prefer that. I've tried all the different methods and this is by far my favorite way to apply my stain, so I'm just going to prop this up, let it dry overnight, now here we are you guys, so this is 2 33 plus masking tape, It's automotive tape, now, uh, fun fact, uh, this, I started using this because when I first started making wooden furniture and signs.
My brother had given me some of his tapes. Now my brother does custom work like painting and bodywork for cars and motorcycles. In fact, I'll leave his Instagram link below if you want to check it out. I come from a very creative family, but anyway he gave me this tape and he didn't know what it was, but then I ran out of it. I went to the hardware store and bought regular painter's tape and kept getting these little bleeds. So I contacted him and he was like, “Oh no, that's the car tape girlfriend,” that's how I got this and why I started using car tape.
It has a better adhesive. I have never bled with this tape, it's a lot. More expensive than regular painter's tape so keep that in mind and I have it linked in the description or sorry my Amazon store below now regular painter's tape works perfectly for some people so just try some things and see what works for you. So guys, we're recording this, let's create some lines. Now that I've applied the first strip, we're going to take a smaller strip, we're going to place it under this piece of tape and what this will do is give us an even space and it'll help us create another straight line.
Now keep in mind that these are pieces of wood panels glued together, so the lines are already there so you can start by just looking. On the screen right now I can clearly see where some lines are where the glue stuck to the wood, so make sure you take advantage of that. I'm not going to tape the sides to this because remember this is going to be reversible so I'm not going to paint the sides this time okay not like last time I remembered and I'm not going to paint the sides and then let's go Let's go in again and we'll create a second line.
I love having fun with this tape and I like doing different things. You know, lines and polka dots and stuff, it's always fun when you have a client that's not that simple and what he wants in a wooden round. I have a lot of fun with that and this one was for my friend so I like it. I did what I wanted okay now we're going to take it off and then we're going to take regular painter's tape and then we're going to put it on and that's more to protect the wood in case I make a mistake or go too far with my paint and I just put it on layers on top of the masking tape, so now we're going to get in with our paints.
This is Crimson Waverly and I'm using, of course, my foam roller. This one is linked in my Amazon store, um in the. description box and just so you know I do, these are Amazon affiliate links so I get a very small commission when you buy from my links but that is at no additional cost to you and you know mom has to pay the bills, so yes. about that, so here I didn't want to do two coats because I loved the wood grain that you can see, but it was a little stained, so I had to do a second coat and I used my hair dryer right there. cool environment because I have no patience and I wanted to speed up the process um and I do it very often because I definitely want to remove the tape it's like a child who wants to unwrap a gift and um after we reapply the second coat I take my hair dryer on cold position and dry it and remember that I am not going to do the sides of this board because it is going to be reversible.
Okay, look, I'm going to put this on zoom for all of you, so you can. look how pretty look at this oh my gosh guys if this doesn't make your heart happy then you don't like wooden signs like I like sides because this is so amazing it puts the biggest smile on your face when they want it. weed something or remove the tape and there are no bleeds oh how amazing okay maybe we should move on so here guys I'm going to measure which sign and then I'm going to walk you through the type of layout of the layout. process, okay guys, we're going to do this in real time, sorry about the glare, it's super bright here, okay guys, I just wanted to explain because I've been asked a lot about this, like how do I do?
I do my design in design space so this one I'm doing in Cricut Maker and I like it because it's very easy to, for example, choose shapes if you come here and then choose a circle, see how that circle goes there now. If you go, let me click here, click on your circle and if your wooden round is 17 inches, then just change it to 17 inches wide by 17 inches tall and you'll get the perfect size, that's the size of your round. Well I made this one 17 and a half inches because usually the ones from Home Depot are 17 and a half inches in diameter so I always play with my design first okay so I don't cut anything until I've painted if I'm doing like these lines or just, you know, like painting half the sign or whatever, I always wait until I paint and tape first because sometimes I go in a different direction and you know, the location obviously gets me.like.
This right here is not going to be exactly the same, so as you saw before, before I came here, I measured how far it was from my last strip of paint down and across, so when I click on this right here, it's well, shows me what this is. 12 and a half or almost 13 inches long and then it's 6.37 inches tall now, when I measured it right now from here to here it was nine inches, so it should be perfect because you guys, this is an exact cut of the circle of your piece so it should be pretty I got it pretty accurate and then 13 inches you have about 14 inches to work with so this is going to be a great cutout this is going to be a great template for us to work with so I'm.
We're going to go ahead and we're going to cut this out and if you're wondering where I got these lines from, all I did was come here to the square shapes and then all I did was go like this, just a little change made it. the color brought it here and then made a line with it, that's it so I could visually see what I wanted to do with my project and where my project was going, so that's how I do it again. Your thing, okay, I just discovered that when I paint my stripes like before, first I liked to cut my decal and then I was basically building my paint, my stripes and my image around the size I cut my piece, so now I like to play with my placement first on my tape and then see how much space I have left to work with, so we're going to go ahead and we're just going to cut.
This Merry Christmas and we're going to paint inside our stencil, so we're going to remove our letters for this one. , okay, now that we're done with that, guys, I wasn't recording when I was taking this and putting this on. on, but this is the aura mask stencil vinyl 813. I normally use just regular Oracle 651 vinyl for templates like this when I do it straight into sharp, but I'm running out of it so I decided to use this one, but you know what works. So good, it's just a little bit, no, it's very expensive. I'll have to check it out, but this is also linked in my Amazon store so you can check it out.
I usually use the 813 aura mask when I'm stenciling on top of paint. because it doesn't peel off the paint so for that I recommend stencil vinyl so here we are just doing some even coats make sure they are light coats you don't need to push down on the foam roller that's how you'll get bleed and then I do a second coat and we're going to let it dry and then we're going to weed this girl yeah and have such clean lines with this and I showed you guys the Cricut tool because I have the Cricut Reader and I have the Silhouette and The Cricut one is my favorite.
I've used it since I started. It's so pointy, I guess you can say all you have to do is get just a little piece of it. vinyl on top and it's solid, the silhouette weeding tool is super boring and you have to pull out the wood to even get under the vinyl so I highly recommend this tool kit. I'll link it below too and the scissors too and the tool kit. they are super sharp which I love okay so let's finish deleting this super happy because it had no bleeds the font was absolutely perfect I loved it I knew I wanted this to be simpler because my girlfriend Jessica didn't It's so loud.
I am when it comes to things so I wanted to keep it more traditional but give it a little flair here and there okay look how cute she is yeah girl you get married you get married okay now we gotta put our Lighten, so I let the chalk paint dry overnight before applying any of this and I'm starting from the bottom because I didn't know if the red chalk paint was going to stain my brush, which it didn't. Not so for this sign, I'm just making a cape because I know my girlfriend has a hanger on the porch so she won't be directly in the elements.
If I knew she was going straight to the elements, I'd put on at least two coats. In this, so I'm brushing the sides because you don't want those drips to dry because it's going to be a cloudy, gross mess. I'm using helmsman um spar urethane in clear water based satin which is also linked in my Amazon store so now that this has dried look how pretty it is um I'm taking like I said my friend isn't as crazy as me , so I just wanted to keep some things traditional and then add a little bit of sparkle here and there, so these are the um holly berries.
Dollar Tree and we're going to play with these and connect them if you've seen it. I think the first two wood

rounds

I made I like to connect all my pieces together, so that's what we're going to do. I'm going to create this bow like I said I needed to add a little bit of glitter so if you saw this ribbon in person it's so stunning the different glitter on this I love it okay so you guys do this uh I'm writing. the measurements for you, um, these strips of tape cut to 20 inches each and you've seen me do this right a million times, now I'm just hot gluing them and then we're going to fold them in half to find their center. knit and then we're going to put them together and then I'm going to zip them together now you can use hot glue if you want you can use needle and thread if you want or I mean there are so many options so Then I said no that's too uneven once As I fluffed it, I was like, girl, no, okay, we have to cut it, so I cut it and start again, so this is the finished bow, okay, that's cleaning up that shine. and here we go, so I'm taking our holly and then I'm just playing with the bow making sure that yeah, it fits her, it looks beautiful and then I'm going to take a five inch strip, is it five, yeah, a five inch strip inches?
Sorry guys, I hot glued this into a tube shape, but I'm not in the frame of course, but I'm showing you, so I just hot glued the ends basically together on that five inch strip, so look, see, see. pipe and then we're going to take another zip tie here I've got my holly where I want it I've got my bow where I want it now I'm going to join all of these together okay you see they're joined now what really made me angry is that at first the left side wasn't as full like the right side so of course I started playing with it and then the right side wasn't as full as the left side, okay anyway, I'm taking some.
Heavy duty velcro was actually one of my subscribers and damn, I had his name on it and now I lost the role. um, she had left a comment saying that she would like to try it with velcro and I was like, do you know what that actually is? It's a pretty good idea because I normally use heavy duty magnets to change bows and stuff like that on my wood rounds, but I thought, you know what? Let's try it, let's try the Velcro, so this is a heavy duty Velcro that If I had made it at Walmart, I'm cutting it into a thinner strip so that when you put it on the wood you won't see it.
I take the furry part of the velcro and I'm going to place it on the Here's some real vegetation, I apply a little bit of hot glue just to make sure it stays so whenever you want take it off, you know what I'm saying, it doesn't come off, right? makes sense? So I'm going to put the other side of the Velcro there now. I don't put hot glue on this because it's super sticky. I apply it to the wooden sign. You can definitely put some e6000 in there for extra protection if you want. I'm selling the sign, this goes to my friend, so if I have any problems I'll let him know, but I don't think so.
See how the right side now doesn't look as full as the left side when it was reversed when I started, oh that did me, so I spent many minutes trying to figure it out, but whatever it is, it's so beautiful, okay, guys, and that's the wooden sign and her. It came out so pretty we're going to make this reversible and I'm going to show you how we do it and what we're going to paint it on so I hope you liked this let me know some round wood projects you want to see. Next or well guys here she is and she looks so beautiful and I can't wait to explain this to you.
This is incredible. Well, here's our sign from last week. Remember that it is already stained, so we will skip that step. I fixed the holly. branch on the right side so it doesn't bother me anymore, we're just going to take that off the velcro and then we're going to turn it over. I'm using this mat now because I don't want to have the chance of getting debris on it. or paint that was left over on my cardboard from another eyebrow jar and again we had to reuse this so that those little holes remember that we put the star link there, but I didn't dye it, so you can still see them and What we're going to do is take a little bit of painter's tape here and we're just going to play with the placement.
Now guys, this is not my usual 33 whiskey and I also decided that you know what I am. I'm going to try some regular Pinterest tape and see how it holds up and go from there, so I'm going to grab my linen white chalk paint. We are going to use the roller as usual. Now remember this is a reversible sign so don't do it. the sides don't press hard on the roller because you don't want anything dripping on your sides and then I'm taking my hair dryer and this is on the cool setting, don't use warm or hot air on your chalk paint because it will break your chalk paint and obviously you don't want that to happen so after it's dry and you guys will know if the chalk paint is dry because it will be completely matte if you see any shine that means there are some wet spots there so just make sure it's completely dry before applying a second coat because if you have wet chalk paint stains and you try to go over it, it will lift the first coat, so here I have to save your chalk paint, you know, so I'm going to remove this and it will work very, very good.
There was some sort of bleeding like a hairline here, but nothing that anyone else would notice, just me, I'm the only one who would notice, okay? so next we're going to put another one, we're going to put more painter's tape here, now reuse the painter's tape guys, and now I'm putting it so that you can see a very thin line of white paint and this is because I want the black overlaps a little bit so that we don't accidentally have a little gap there or anything, you know what I'm saying, I'll tell you, although when I make this sign for myself, I'm going to leave it so there's a stripe of the grain of the wood and then the next color, I think that would look awesome, so I was a little worried because I was like, "Okay, I'm using regular painter's tape on top of the paint, let's see." It causes bleeding, so I'm using the deep folk art black.
This truly is the best black chalk paint out there. It's so pigmented you only need one coat and you can get it on sale with a coupon at any of their craft stores which is awesome, Waverly has one called ink but it doesn't come in a bottle as big as this one and it really doesn't I think it is as pigmented as the rich black of folk art, so I recommend this color if you are going to use black paint on any of your signs. I wish it came as a gallon. Okay, so we get our template.
This time I wrote the font uh and let's see, let's see if we have any bleed, oh, look at that, oh. Look, I should have done it in slow motion, yeah, I like it, this is when I'm good, I think this will probably be my favorite sign, yeah, get it, get it, girl, oh my gosh, look at that, yeah, you are. I love this, I love this, it's all uphill from here, everyone's fine, so now let's get to what I'm showing you. It's among the signs, I'm just going to wrap my foam roller so it doesn't.
Meanwhile, dry for my stencil guys, I'm using Aura Mask 813 stencil film. Everything I usually use is linked in my Amazon store link at the description box. If I can't find it on Amazon, I'll usually find the link somewhere. more and link it below for you guys, I like to use the stencil vinyl when I'm painting over paint, but I ran out of my 651 vinyl, so I'm using this one in this line, but you know what works. Just as good and comes off very easy, which I love. Also this transfer tape is called Vinyl Easy and it is my new favorite.
It's my absolute favorite because it comes off so well. Does not leave any sticky residue. Just great, so I'm pressing this whole vinyl stencil. I want to make sure it's nice in there so there's no bleeding underneath, reusing some painter's tape, reuse it, you guys can get multiple uses out of painter's paint. masking tape and then we're just going to do one coat because that's all you need with this rich folk art black chalk paint, I love it, and then of course I'm going to blow dry it like I said, I don't have the patience. I have to wait for it to dry and plus with Hank around the dog hair gets into everything and the last thing I want to do is let this air dry and then shake it out and then there's dog hair so look how peel this, see how. easy you guys like it don't like the wood it just has no seams oh my god guys this came out so so good after I took it off.
I sent a photo to my girlfriend right away. I was very happy with that. Lookto help dry this out again. I have dog hair everywhere so yeah okay so this you guys too is a piece that I took from the happy Fall y'all sign that I vandalized if you haven't seen those videos you need to see them so this is basically all I it's the jute wire that I bought at Dollar Tree, my D hooks and I'm just going to put my D hooks here basically, so I usually measure at the 16 inch wide mark and then I measure three inches on each side and then We're just going to drill that into place.
I usually try to drill them at an angle, see? how they are pointing towards the middle, not up, but that's preference, I don't know if it really changes anything or not, but that's what I like. Someone also asked me if you can basically use it as a rope and tie it with the d hooks and I'll tell you if you want to use it like very thin quarter jute or somewhat thinner twine I would definitely say go for it but if you're using a more string thick, remember that you will have knots. and if you have knots on the back of your sign, then your sign won't sit flush with the door and that's when you'll hear that knock all the time when you open and close the door, which is why I like to do that.
Do it this way or with the tape hot glued because it will be flush with the door and you won't get all those hits, okay? And just so you know, I also cleaned the back of this sign, I don't know. Why didn't I show it, but cleaned the back? Bow time, okay, so when making a bow, I always place it on the top of the wooden round first to see how far off the board I want it to go, if that. go so far anyway and these are 10 inches long and we're going to create a messy bow a messy bow you guys it's just kind of a bunch of ribbon it could be scrap ribbon it could be a ribbon of your choice all together and you just have to play with it.
I literally spent 20 minutes or more on this arc because I just couldn't find my happy place with it, so the black and white box is from the hobby lobby. It's like they're 3.99 one and then when you get 50 percent off, hey, burlap is the dollar tree and this polka dot ribbon, I've had it forever, I can't remember where it's from and you're really just going to crisscross. I'm going to um and then I put it like a piece of tape vertically, I mean, it goes in all different directions, you know what I'm saying, it's messy, that's all, you can also use fabric with this, but again, it's going to go outside, so if you used fabric. it would probably go limp, so it's nice to have the wire there, the black burlap, guys, the wired ribbon that I bought is from Walmart and it was from their fall collection, so using my zip tie as usual, we're going to hold that up. together now don't tie it so tight until you're sure this is where you want your bow it's in the middle and then we're going to take our greenery again how I'm obsessed with these things you guys okay so on this greenery Guys, you can move the leaves up like I'm showing you how they move, so obviously I want to show as many leaves as possible, so I'm going to move them all up and you guys, I'm never going to pay full price for any of this. greenery is like 9.99 a pack but there's no way for me to know I had to have made like 50 off or something I don't know so now I'm sticking them on my zip ties y'all these aren't going to nowhere where they are insured. and it's so nice to not have to deal with stapling things to round wood or hot gluing piece by piece.
This makes your bow and your life much easier with everything being in one place and all together. I said don't tighten that zip tie until you're done playing with it like I'm doing now. I'm moving things around, moving my tape and then I'll do my final titan, there we go and then I'm going to cut the rest now in the inspiration selection that she sent me, it was like a buffalo plaid bow, like a normal bow, wrapped with a string in the middle, so I wanted to keep its inspiration, you know, peace, but I wanted to have my own version.
I put my own touch on it, I didn't want to copy someone's sign, you know, word for word, if you say um and of course they always consult with their client before applying it because obviously this didn't look exactly like the photo that she sent, so I made sure to message her and say, okay? to our wooden sign here so let's cut the rest off and this bow turned out so cute guys and this is how I close my ribbon okay sorry I'm not in the frame but all I'm doing is applying e6000 and then covering the e6000 with hot glue and the e6000 is like a gelatinous texture so that's why I use hot glue and then you can get a book or a somewhat heavy wooden sign and I'll put it on top of that bow, I'll leave it overnight for 24 hours and all of you here is our sign, how beautiful it turned out.
I love that you could see how the charred wood underneath looks paneled, it's shiny. I mean, it was definitely readable. I think it turned out great. Is it okay, guys? Start, so something I didn't show you before I started was that I sanded them. Also make sure you sand the edges of this, it comes out super super rough and you want those edges to be really smooth so make sure you do that here. I'm using wisteria wood stain in golden walnut and I use a microfiber towel. I just take them and cut them, I mean, they're pretty small squares, maybe like two by two, even one by one, depending on what I'm doing.
Microfiber towel cloths, whatever they are, I feel like they hold a lot more stain and go a lot further. I tried rags, I tried t-shirts and I also tried foam brushes, that's actually what I started with. I left because I saw it on a YouTube video. Here is my perfect husband. He's giving me a snack anyway. I saw it in a video. When I started he was making foam brushes, letting it sit for a long time and then it would come. back, I would wipe off the excess, but I find that this way with the microfiber towel works amazing here I am now, I go to the edges, this is where I said it needs to be smooth or it's just going to look super rough if you don't sand these edges and like you can see, I'm dipping my finger in and then putting it in the towel because I don't want to saturate it too much where it's going to run and then leak out to the other side. of the wooden round so I'm taking my time and here you go because you know you can wet your towel in there I mean it's up to you.
You can get microfiber towels. You can get a large package at Menards Home Depot. You might even find them at the dollar tree, but you're only going to get one, so I haven't really figured out if that's the best value or not. Then you're going to get your back dirty. I know there are some people who don't stay. on the back of their signs because they find out it's a waste of product when it will never be seen because it's against the wall or the door or whatever, but I like the product to look very finished, so I go ahead and stain . the front and the back and you know it's an extra barrier for the wood, especially if it's going to be a sign that's going to hang outside, I prefer it to be double sealed and then here's that one and now this weathered gray one that you guys have is probably one of my most popular stain colors other than I would say Jacobian and yes I would say Jacobian and distressed gray are probably my most popular stains and this one is from verithane and you guys if you're just starting out get these smaller ones. cans, um, before you buy the bigger ones because then you'll know which ones will be most popular for you, which ones you'll use the most and you won't spend too much when you start making these things. and also keep in mind that if you're not someone who's going to do this every week or every day for a business, you can create your own tint.
I have a video on my channel of that look at that wood grain, guys. It's absolutely stunning, okay this is Hellsman. In fact, I just switched to this. I'm going to apply it with a chippy brush and just make sure to shake mine. It says stir, do what you do. I think shaking is perfectly fine. Me too. They use polyacrylic and I know it's for internal use, but I've never had a problem with it. Don't ask me why I smell this. I've never had a problem with polyacrylics, so to each their own, but. I tried this and really liked it.
Like polyacrylic, it has a watery texture and is water-based. that go on the side of your piece of wood that you take that brush and you clean it or I don't know, you clean it, I guess I don't know, look how I'm doing the sides because if it runs and you let it dry like that and you'll have a cloudy mass of paintings right there, um, I say I'm really sorry, and for this one, guys, when you're doing the rounds, make sure you take advantage of every inch. of that because when they dry they will show up as little streaks where you didn't get that clear coat so now I'm measuring my piece of wood because I'm going to go ahead and put the d hooks on the d hooks.
I usually hang my burlap ribbon on my sides. I think it's the easiest. I feel like it also gives you more hanging leverage for greater uniformity. I don't know if that makes sense. These are the large D shaped hooks that I can secure. link them below, I get them from Amazon, it comes in a huge package for these wooden signs, wooden rounds I'm using, I think it's 17 and a half inches. I got mine from Home Depot. I think they are the most profitable there. Those are menards and um, I'm going to go in three inches on each side, it's about I think just from the line lines, not the edge, about 16 inches, I think, and then I have to stop saying, guys, what that I love.
These wood rounds are wood panels pressed together and glued together, so most of them you'll see already have lines on them to help you create an even line of where to hang them, so for this one, yeah, I couldn't find them. some of them are a little bit harder to find but they are there which I really like because unless you know how to get a straight line let me know because I swear I have a harder time finding them so these wood panels they help. many and these require a screw gun. I've seen people use um like cables that hang back with screws and other things like that, but they're so heavy that I feel like these are the two hooks um d that add security, okay, so now guys. we're going to tape this up, I'm making a sign with the last name set, they're both going to be door hangers and again I'm finding the line because again this is wood paneling so there's a very straight line and it makes it like this. easy and I'm just using painter's tape, you can find painter's tape at any hardware store, the dollar tree even has painter's tape and it works just as well, the only thing is it doesn't have the cardboard piece inside, it's a little weird, but um.
I bought mine at Menards, it comes in all sizes so like an inch, half an inch, whatever you need, I have them all and I go ahead and follow my tape every which way because I like to paint the edges, some people don't. do. I paint the edges and that's totally fine. I feel like it gives it a more finished look when I do it, so I'm going to go ahead and repeat, doing the same thing. The gray was much easier. I could totally see the sign or the sign I could see the line and make sure the tape is pressed really well because you don't want anything going underneath so here are the decals that I'm going to use I guess you wouldn't call me a stencil I guess than a sticker, I love you guys, I'm okay guys, make sure you check your sticker because I'm definitely starting to put the name wrong here and oh look, I think I realize that's true, hey, not that.
It doesn't belong on this side, yeah, so make sure you double check that, um, but I love it, I love the look of the wood, I love the look of the wood grain, so whenever I can make a sign that isn't paint on paint, then I won't do it. Do it like this, for example, in this one. I could have easily chalk painted it white on the bottom and then painted the name gray as well, but I want to see the wood grain. I mean, that's why you're buying a wood sign. I always put my decals on first and paint over them so that when you lift the decal you see the beautiful wood grain on the bottom instead of just a gray font you know, so here I am just peeling this off and Guys I got my paper contact from Dollar Tree, works amazing, perfectly, love it, use a couple others too.
There are some that I get at Walmart offline, I just prefer here, so I'm using Rust-oleum chalk paints and I'm using a mini. roller, I find this gives me the most uniform paint base. If someone wanted a sign that was more rustic, I would use it like a chippy brush and go over it, but they want this to be very clean and classy, so I go over it with the foam brush. and here I go, I'm going to take those sides making sure not to press too hard because I don't want the chalk paint to bleed to the back and make sure that with this you get smooth, even layers.
They don't have to press hard on the roller to disperse the color, soyou're painting, you're not doing any of this. Packing this kit for them and they're doing the work themselves, so twenty bucks comes like every kid can do this. You know, girls can do this. Have a wine night with your friends. Do it with your husband or your wife or whatever. These are going to be great people who are at home right now, so get creative with your DIY kits. People will buy them. I hope this helps some of you, especially starting your business, earn some money to reinvest in your business.
Right here I'm taking the decals that we made and we're putting them up. I forgot that I should have made this Frankenstein's eyes a little easier because someone, the customers, will have to gouge out his eyes. That sounded really weird, but I would do it. just give them like a toothpick or something because they're literally like a couple of pieces, and you were going to make this for the three of them and make sure that when they do this DIY video, they have fun with it, especially if this is like the first one you want that people like it, read it again, you know you want people to say oh wow, that was fun, the person who made the video was funny and thorough and whatever, because a lot of times people have no idea what vinyl If they don't know, you know what I'm saying so make sure you explain everything you're doing and then the next time they buy a DIY kit from you they'll be more knowledgeable about the process so I'm just using my vinyl gun heat to speed it up in this video, but this is where you know I would go and have another bottle of wine, I said bottle, I should have said glasses, uh, you know, if you wanted to hang out with your girlfriends or whatever, just have them, let them dry naturally if you want or if you're like me and you're impatient, then grab a blow dryer and help yourself dry it, so this is what I was telling you, the frankenstein, his little eyes.
I would just put something on there, okay, so dry them because with acrylic paint I find that if I remove the vinyl before it's completely dry, it doesn't like to break up any of the paint. I know it sounds weird, but it's okay. So, and I'm just showing you here too, these are just options that you could distress, um, your bits, you don't have to. I just did it with the pumpkin just to show you what I was doing. Now let's make the pumpkin stem now guys, I'm hot gluing this on. They can also drill a hole so they literally don't have to use any of their own materials, like if someone doesn't have a hot glue gun, they can drill a little hole in there, just make sure the stem you send with them fits in there, um , but I just hot glued mine for video reasons and then I'll get raffia.
You can also include a little piece of green fabric in there or green ribbon or whatever twine they can use. I just chose this. I thought it looked a little more rustic with the raffia and all that stuff. You guys could get it at the dollar tree. You know what I'm saying, so stay tuned. smart about your purchases when you're doing this look for more cost effective things if you want me to go ahead and like the linkuh where can you get sponges in bulk things like that let me know why I put prices on it and look how cute it is please 20 bucks, someone, a lot of people are going to want this kit for 20 and it's a great price too.
Start with you, you know, don't try to overprice something because you want people to find your business, you want people to say, oh my gosh, that's a great price and guess what your business is going to be. So, you guys will stand out, so here we are. We're done, I hope you had fun with me making these signs. I hope you learned a lot from the DIY kit. If you end up making any of these, tag me on Instagram. I love, love, love watching it. let me know if you are going to try this DIY kit.
I can't wait to discover more ways to do it, so I hope you have a good week. Thanks for tuning in, make sure to subscribe and give me a thumbs up, bye, okay, let's start with ebony minwax. I get my wood rounds at Home Depot. They measure approximately 17 and a half inches in diameter and about an inch thick. You can also get them at menards and lulls like Well, for me I have tried all the sponge brush towels and what works for me in terms of stains are these microfiber towels. I cut them into about two by two squares and I love them because they hold a lot of stain so you're not dipping and dipping and dipping and you're not wasting which I love so you can see just by dipping that one time how much stain I was able to get out of that towel , so that's the method I prefer, you have to throw them away afterwards. and for this, when you sand them, make sure you sand the sides because the sides are the roughest part and believe me, it will show when you stain them, when I stain them, I always go with the grain of the wood or at least I try to. and you guys look at that grain oh my gosh this is an ebony it's a beautiful color and I use it all the time so now I have my decals and I made them with my cricut design space and what I'm doing here is I'm taking my scotch 233 plus automotive tape and I'm using the lines that are on the wood round, okay, they're pieces of wood glued together, okay, so there are lines there for you to use, take your time, find them, just do it like this .
It's a lot easier so now I'm trying to put my vinyl on and this is the Oracle 651 permanent vinyl and I'm having a hard time because there's so much text here that I don't want it to be crooked or uneven because it would just look horrible. especially with a straight line right on top of it so I'm looking at this and if you make wooden rounds or any wooden signs then I'm sure you've done this a few times and I'm just not sure how I'm looking right now. So what I do is I take some painter's tape and use those lines that are already there for us and when I put my vinyl on top I have this nice straight line where I know my text is.
I'm going to be honest, so Katie Brown is my real estate agent and I asked her permission to put her phone number here and she said, "Oh, that was cool." If you're looking for a great real estate agent, she's your girl and can give you your references in other states too, you're welcome Katie, okay, now I'm going to take another template. This is the Aura Mask 813 vinyl stencil. I love it. I usually only use this vinyl stencil when I'm making a stencil on top of something I already have. painted, I don't know why I chose to use it here, but at least we can talk about it properly, so we'll just place it over and over again, trying to make sure it finds my center and there we go.
This is really cool guys because it doesn't have a super strong adhesive, but there's almost no bleeding with this. I think it works a lot better than, what is Oracle 613? I think they are like a vinyl stencil. I don't know, but it's definitely my favorite and now I'm going to tape all my edges anywhere the wood is exposed because I like to go crazy and I know if I don't there will be paint everywhere. my board, so I'm going to take the Rust-oleum linen white chalk paint, chalk paint. I get asked this question all the time why I use it.
It's something I've found has worked for me and you all know it hasn't. I won't fix it if it ain't broke, you know what I say, so I always use my chalk paint and never put it down. I love it, I think it's great full coverage. I love that it's matte and in my opinion it's easy to work with but everyone should try their own because what may work for me may not work for you so this is my sponge roller and what I'm doing is one. This is going to be a reversible sign so we are not going to paint the sides and I am going to do it with light hands.
All of you must enter with light hands. They don't want the paint to spill over the side and they don't want to. it goes under the vinyl and that's where a lot of bleeding happens because you're putting too much pressure on the sponge or whatever you're using and that paint is going to go under the vinyl so you can always reapply a second coat. so always start light, take your time here. I'm using a hair dryer and I'm doing this on a cold setting. If you used warm heat on this it would crack the chalk paint, so put it on cold, that just helps. it speeds up the process for me, you will know when the chalk paint is dry because it will be completely matte, you won't see any shine on it, or it will look wet if it's not dry, so here we go with the second coat. and you could see the difference that a second coat makes and again, I'm going to apply with very light hands and then I even out that paint by going back to see how I move it back over where it was. it just went and that way I just know that I have my paint evenly distributed on my board so this is coming out okay I can't my favorite part is always removing the paint and the stencil it's like my ho ho moment if you guys are okay, here we go, look at this, look at this, I promise I'll spin it.
I've been testing a new camera mount. It's not like mom has to taste the paint. Okay, so she looks at that clean line. Sorry, my kids are playing upstairs. So I start reading while I'm standing and hovering over this table and I'm like, man, I'm not going to be able to get out of this position if I keep standing like this so your girl has to go to the table because she's old, well then you guys, This synthetic brush I have here is for cleaning up the little flakes that come off when painting, when the chalk paint dries and you are removing it, little pieces of chalk paint will come off the top. of the vinyl and if that little flake, a little flake of that chalk paint, gets on the exposed wood and you accidentally put your hand or a finger on it and smear it on, it will act like paint and you won't be able to remove it.
It comes off, so every time I'm removing chalk paint I have my piece of paper, it doesn't have to be synthetic or anything. I have a little paintbrush next to me so that every time those little bits land on my sign I can brush away. Put them away like that, I know I'm not going to have a chance to ruin my wooden rounds because even if it turned out like this, look, you know, the letters that can ruin an entire sign, at least for me, I'm a perfectionist and it has to be perfect now guys, if you are new to weeding wood signs, I highly recommend getting the Cricut weeding tool.
I have the silhouette one and I have this one from Cricut. The one from Cricut has such a sharp point on the ends. that all you have to do is put a little piece on the side and it works great, don't tear the wood. I used to do that all the time when I started making wood, so what I was trying to show. There was my wood a little splintered and it took some of the paint off of a letter, so I took a super fine brush and went back in with my linen white chalk paint and fixed it that way, it doesn't look like it rips the painting there so it happens a lot so okay now we're starting on the second side and this one guys we're going to sell it because I wanted it to be so she could obviously show off her business and you know, advertise when she's with a client and then also so that your clients can change this and then it could be like your personal photo.
You know what I'm saying, I thought it would be cool to have that option for your customers because I In my sign career, I've made signs for so many people that say sold, it's ours or we said yes to the address, so I thought this it would be a great way if your clients didn't have it or whatever then you would do it. It would be a nice thing to offer them to take a photo with so on this one I put the 651 permanent vinyl on there and whenever I put them on stained wood I usually just use the 651 permanent vinyl that I have it on.
Bulk, I like it, it has a stronger adhesive so the paint doesn't bleed underneath and again we're just blowing this off a little bit, not wiping, drying it, okay second coat is done and we're going to take this . You see what I'm saying about the strong adhesive, now a lot of people might see what I get a lot of questions about. Splinters in the wood when lifting the vinyl, that is common and that really just has to do with the piece. of wood that you have, sometimes I don't have rounds of wood or wood in general that splinters and then sometimes I get a batch and like everyone they want a splinter because the wood is very soft so here we go but no .
That's done so now we're going to grab our Oracle 813 Aura Mask Stencil Vinyl, sorry, and I'm doing the aura mask because I'm going to be using a stencil over something that I already painted and if you get permanent vinyl , put it on the paint. it will break up that paint, this vinyl doesn't do that and that's why I prefer to use it, so while I'm peeling it I'll also make sure that wherever white is showing, I really press that vinyl there so that I don't have any bleed into that white, so that right there I'm trying to show you what it looks like if it's up.
You don't want that, so you want to make sure you press that vinyl into those folds. that you don't have anything under the vinyl okay so we're going to tape it on the sides again like we did with the previous one and this you guys just usethese even with their wood rounds guys I don't know can you see that texture that's there and that's extending around all the knots now you can smooth that out and the way you do that is by getting up off the side of the sander and going a little bit stronger there and then just come back to smooth them out, okay, so we'll start with an 80 grit and then I'm going to move on. to a 220 which is super thin and makes the wood feel so let's go ahead and get it going okay maybe I need to plug everything in first okay guys this is the star link and that's the gap filler this is the accelerator now this guys this is the first time I've used it and it almost looks like a super thick glue like crazy glue this is what I can compare it to and they put it in the spaces of their wood pieces so right here was one big like I could stick my fingernail in there and otherwise I couldn't paint over this or it would have just bled everywhere so probably actually this wood was pushed aside because it had a lot of knots in it um so put it on then spray this accelerator in there and the glue dries, the gap filling in seconds, guys, seconds, it's done, now the one on the right is dry, I don't know if I put too much because you can I saw it like it bubbled a little, which wasn't a big deal .
I ended up taking a little thing, cleaned it up and then sprayed a little bit more accelerator and it was perfect and I have like a wood crack filler, I mean they have so much stuff and this was just amazing, there's so many pieces of scrap wood that now I can, well it's not scrap anymore because now I can use it with this stuff so after that you have to sand over it and that's because you know there might be ridges or whatever so you want to level it out and then I ended up using it on a couple of knots further.
I didn't do it all because I was too lazy. I mean, this thing was covered in knots so it was amazing, so we're going to use two different dyes, pecan gold, antique white, now I want you to know when you're dealing with antique white, vintage, aquamarine, barn red and the dyes. They have a different consistency, they are super thick stains, they don't absorb into the wood like a normal stain would, so you have to spend a little more time with them and make sure it doesn't scratch, so that's why Do I have to keep going through the same place because it leaves streaks there?
So make sure you're careful so you can see the difference, see how fast this absorbs into my wood, how fast I'm. Moving on you know the staining process because I don't have this doesn't leave streaks it absorbs right into my wood it's a quick process so keep that in mind when you're using different types and different state colors so I don't. the sides because we're going to cover that with paint, so don't even worry about that, so I'm going to lay this on its side so it can dry on both sides of the wood. I'm going to cut our vinyl and completely fix it myself.
This is like a qriket mat and like a no name mat and I got painter's tape and I just taped it in the middle and you have to play with the placement of your vinyl well so this is not when you put it in your machine, really He doesn't like to cut in the same places if that makes sense, I don't know, but you have to play with him. I'm ashamed to say I lost a lot. of vinyl because I did this when I had my cameo 2 and it didn't feed the cameo 4 like it did my cameo too so I ended up wasting a lot of vinyl so make sure you play with it before feeding it. your total amount there, um, and I know cameo four might drive you crazy, but I haven't figured it out yet and I know I also have my new qriket machine, but I tried uploading everything to youtube to see if you can cut larger than 24 inches and all I found was basically saying no or you have to cut everything like the 12 inch mats if you want it longer so if you know how to avoid that let me know in the comments too because I couldn't find anything. so we're finishing this up it's very easy for me and now we're just removing everything we're leaving our letters because we're using the letters as our template okay so we're removing the main part of this and then I'm going to cover it with tape of transfer that I do not show and then I will be here on the floor, the hairiest terrain in the entire house.
I don't know why I chose to do it here and then. I'm going to use my clear transfer tape for this one because I really wanted to be able to see my lettering and placement. Now I left the bottom of this super straight that way I can line it up with the bottom of my piece of wood and all I really had to do was focus on the sides of the letters and make sure they were spaced appropriately and fit together perfectly, it was so easy. I was super happy with it and am using Oracle 651 permanently.
Vinyl I like to use permanent vinyl because I think it sticks better to stained wood, causes less bleeding and yes that's what I use when I apply stencils directly to stained wood so when you peel the vinyl guys I say. all the time it's slow, okay, super slow, because then things like this happen. I lifted the little g loop up and then I had to grab my weeding tool and then I had to try to lift it up and put it back down. I wanted it to be that way. sit down hey guys my name is sammy I've been a victim of cellulite uh but that's okay because I've had two kids and I'm 34 years old and you know I'm at this point. own, so grab the rest of the transfer paper and then we're going to do the exact same thing on the opposite side, but I didn't film that, that would be super boring and this video is already long enough so make sure all the debris is in the dog hair that is always here.
I'm using oleum charcoal oxide chalk paint and I'm going to apply this with my roller just like I do with my wood signs, now you guys don't have any. to have a roller, you could use a chippy brush, you could use a synthetic brush, I mean, you're okay, it doesn't have to be exactly like I'm doing it, if you want a more rustic look, I definitely suggest using the chippy brush. and then sanding it, I'm going to do two coats on this, I mean, it covers pretty well, but I definitely wanted it to be darker here, so when you do the sides, make sure you don't press hard with your sponge or your brush because you don't want to let it drip on the side that you haven't painted yet, that just makes a big mess, okay, so be patient, take your time, it's worth taking your time because then you're only going to have twice as much.
The job is so to speed up this drying process I'm using the cold setting on my hair dryer which means it's blowing out cold air and I'm not using the warm setting because I don't want to heat up that vinyl when you heat it up. The vinyl gets stickier and we don't want it to come off hard when we're ready to remove the stencil from the wood, so I'm going to use layer number two and do the same thing by rolling it up. take the sides and then you guys, after this is dry, I use the hair dryer and then I go to the other side, okay this is already late, but I knew you can't leave your stencil here like overnight it's vinyl permanent.
If you did that, it would be harder to go out if you're bored, so I said, "Okay, I guess I'll just go to bed in my pajamas because I'm too lazy to change, so I'm cleaning this up." I highly recommend that if you don't want to damage the wood, which I used to do all the time, get a super sharp weeding tool. This is my Cricut weeding tool that I've literally had forever and it's so sharp at the end that all I have to do is put a little bit of that wetting tool under the vinyl and it lifts it up so you can do the same on the opposite side and I need a drink of water because I'm going to cough, can you?
I hear my kids running around, dad is home so let's keep cleaning this side and then we'll take it outside and mess it up a little bit so with our orbital sander we're going to do the edges. super easy guys, I'm not going to go over the entire sign, I'm just doing the edges just to give it a little more detail, a little more, you know, I'm going to do that with the front and I'm going to do that with the back part. back now if you want a more distressed look you get that sander and you can put it over everything, the lettering, everything and just sand until you get the desired look, but that's all I wanted to do so let's bring it back to the house and let's go to clean it with a helmsman.
Now I give it two coats because for us we don't have an overhang on our porch so I know this sign is going to be directly in the elements and It's snowing here, it's hot here so I did two coats of coxswain on this one and everything I do in between layers is to dry it on the cold setting so I can speed up my process. You don't have to do this. You could wait for it to dry naturally and then go back and apply the second coat. I'm sorry my kids are being so loud. I really want to try the spray, the coxswain spray version.
I think it would be very good because with this transparent. You have to wait 24 hours after painting the chalk paint or else it will just smear everything so I feel like the spray will do that. I mean, you don't have to wait 24 hours, but I feel like it would be more expensive to keep it. buy the spray instead of a whole can of the helmsman if that makes sense so after applying two coats we did it on both sides make sure when you do this the sides fit really nice don't leave anything dripping off your sides because just like the wooden rounds, if you let those drips wipe off, they'll dry to a cloudy white color, you know, and we don't want that, so make sure you check the sides before you start drying the sign or leave it alone.
Dry well, so we're done with that guys, how easy it was, now I'm taking twine and I chose to hot glue it to the side. They can probably staple it, but it felt like the staple when they were done and like you were stapling the end to the side it would show, so I went against it, I used hot glue, but you can definitely use whatever you want, you could even use those accent nails , really cute, I think they are called. eyelets and those are super cute too, but wrap them up as much as you want to get the look you want and now I'm going to take this outside and show you how we're going to decorate. and look how cute, this is just a selection of the dollar tree that I put in there and you could even stick a paper clip on the back of this if you didn't want the stem to show and I just kind of threw it in there, but look how cute , don't worry about my front porch, it's okay, look how nice, look how well that star bond filled that crack and like it didn't bleed, I love the worn edges.
I like that. we choose the white spot and then look here's another option okay bear with me so this is a dollar tree ornament right I just put a little clip on the back so we'll take it out right there . and then we'll let me see if I can do this with one hand, probably not, so wait, okay, it's not the best position, but I mean, you get my draft right so you can change it, you can do whatever you want. with it, I wonder if that would be like, yeah, you'd have to secure it, but if I held it tight like that it would look cute, super cute, I'll be right back for the fall version, okay guys, we're back.
Fall and look at it, I love the dye color for fall, I just wanted to change it up a little and not make it too overwhelming because I wanted this to be super easy. I think they're called porch sitters, but look. Put two picks here from the dollar tree, one right there, like I said, you can cut them shorter, you can put them in little clips like this. I like to go in the back, but I'm just using them as examples, but look. how cute it is and you can really change this and the cool thing about this you guys can do the same thing as a welcome sign or a home sweet home and then put that twine there and people can change their own seasonal decor so I think this came out really great.
I hope you learned a lot of things from this video and if you're still here, be sure to give me more ideas of what you want to see when it comes to wood signs today. I will show you how to make a very easy dress up sign for the front of your house or you can even use it for home decor if you wish, it is very easy, all you will need is a slab of wood. I'm using a scrap from my pile and then paint sticks, I'm using a nail gun, I mean you don't have to have one, you can just stick some nails in, some stain and some paint, so said this, let's go ahead and jump into this.

tutorial

check it out this address sign was the first time I made it so if I can do it you can do it too and she turns out absolutely beautiful and let's jump to how to do this sorry this is in slow motion. but okay it gives me a chance to explain it so I measured my piece of wood this is a 1x8 I measured it at 22 inches I'm using pre-existing address numbers so all I did was space my numbers how I wanted and then you measured and then added another inch to that measurement, so if you're not using the address numbers you already have,It's what I use.
It is ideal for outdoor elements. I'm using light coats of this, make sure you apply it all over. You'll know your board is covered because you'll see everything is shiny and looks good, so now that it's clean, I know I won't have any scratches or anything like that on there and it dried overnight. Now I'm going to go to the back and I'm super fancy and instead of cutting the ribbon I use my teeth uh, you're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome for my fantasy, um, so again I looked for the lines on these and said Oh my God, what am I?
I'm going to do with those sides, okay, so again I try to figure out how wide I want the center part and I want it a little bit lower so that the center part stays smudged. We are making the top part black. This is folkart deep black. by far my favorite, I wish they had jars of this stuff. You only need one coat of this and it's jet black. I love it so I use my little rolling pin. Now this is where I think, "Okay, I'll have to do it." surround the sides with the black, I thought that was the best option because it would also look good with the candy corn sign since that will be the Halloween theme, so that's what I chose to do, look at those crisp lines, oh, that makes me so happy.
There's nothing better than removing the tape or stencil and seeing that there are no bleeds, oh my gosh, seeing how it looks matte and then seeing the parts where it looks like a darker black meaning it wasn't completely dry. that's how you know, so here I am, there's my little friend, he's going to try to feed me, I'm sure, okay, sorry I'm not in the store at all, but I'm painting the sides right here and I'm getting realizing that. It's actually not right it's on the sides I'm trying to explain this to you I hope I can see it up close but it looks like the front the sponge was so like oh my god what am I going to do for you?
I know what I do with dry brushing to make it look like I meant to do it, it looks rustic and now it doesn't look like the sponge was accidentally put on the front so I'm taking the lightest amount and you guys remember I'm just doing . This is because I made a mistake at first when painting the sides. If I had painted the top and left those sides the same color, I wouldn't have had to take all these extra steps, but you know, it ended up looking great. super beautiful so again I'm just tapping what's left on my plate and then tapping it on all sides or I'm sorry, tapping it on the paper to get the excess off because I don't want any big gobs, I just want it to show. like I brushed it lightly there, I do it every which way, especially in the white, you can see it appear and it almost looks like a shadow hanging over it, it's really strange, I don't know, I probably should have sped up.
This is for you guys, sorry, okay, this side did the same thing, so I'm going to go over again and I'm just dry brushing these sides where the sponge is showing, you know, and I really really like how this. side especially this side with the dry brushing on the side look, it just gave it so much dimension that we did it there, which I probably didn't, I shouldn't avoid it, it doesn't matter, don't listen to me, so let's get it over with. Now here, I'm just taking a little piece of paint tape. Can you see that right there?
That's going to be my guide because that's how wide I want my orange stripe to be, so I'm going to go right on top of it. of that and I'm reusing some of that tape that we used before because you don't waste that tape, it's super sticky and it will work again. I promise you. The only unpleasant thing is that I have a dog who likes to rub his body. everything, so the hair goes on everything while he looks at me, he talks about okay, so I press that down on our sides and then I'm going to take some pieces of tape too and I'm going to put them on the sides and then I'm going to put a piece of tape over the black if that doesn't make sense okay so let's take the sides we don't want the orange to cover the sides we just paint all that black you guys okay so I'm just trying to figure out where the edge narrows and then I'm just going to record that right there, sorry, I should have sped this up so you can hear me babbling.
I probably say this like every video I make because there are at least a couple little snippets of videos that I'm like, "Oh, probably." I should have edited it a little better and there's Everett, he's so proud of himself because he started dressing himself so he always has to go downstairs and he's like, "he closes his eyes." Okay, so here I'm covering that black and I'm putting it right on the line right below where that stain is and then we're going to use pumpkin chalk paint that I also used on the other side and I'm just going to put this on with a brush, You guys It took me at least three coats because the sides were black and still showing through, which I usually never have a problem with chalk paint.
The chalk paint is quite thick and covers a lot but this didn't happen so I had to go back and had to dry. it dries again it comes back so at least three coats total to cover those black sides that were building up there um on the other side you guys I used yellow school bus I think in acrylic paints the pumpkin and then the white oxide-oleum linen so there there, super sharp lines turned out great, no leaks on the side, super nice and then I'm going to go ahead again, I'm going to let it dry overnight like the black and orange so I can put the rest on, okay, so right here .
I'm measuring how big I'm going to want that boo so I measure vertically and then I measure horizontally, it's not always super accurate, sometimes I cut this out which I did and this time when measuring it I went over to my machine and put in my measurements cut. and then I thought this is too small so it doesn't always work but for the most part I usually don't have any problems with it so this is the second piece of vinyl I've cut and this is boo I'll do it. Leave the sources below and then of course the decals will be available in my etsy store so I'm using 6x1 permanent vinyl, excuse me, 651 and probably just dollar tree transfer tape and then make sure you peel off the decals slowly, there is nothing. worse than pulling it back and then getting overconfident and then breaking, so here it goes, so again guys, I don't use vinyl on my signs either, so I was trying this because I've heard a lot of people are using vinyl, so again I thought this is not for a client, this is for me, so we'll go ahead and test the vinyl and that way I can see how long it lasts or if there are problems with it, you know, because it would be nice to offer it. something that's maybe less expensive if people can't necessarily afford the cost of hand painted signs so let's see how that turns out so I'm rubbing this super good on this wood and we're just going to peel it back only.
Also, this actually stuck really well after I cleaned it, so I was fine with that, but then we're going to take our hair dryer and this is hot and I'm going to put it on top because I want the adhesive on the back of this . to get soft and sticky because let me tell you when I did this immediately my vinyl started to lift so that's exactly why I was worried about using vinyl because if it's in direct heat I don't want it to bubble or lift or anything like that. So this makes me feel a little more confident that it's going to stick to this wood and not go anywhere, so I just ran that over it a little bit and pressed my fingers on it just to make sure everything came out smooth, no bubbles or wrinkles anywhere and that's it on that side.
I'm not going to put clear on the vinyl. I've always heard that you don't do that, but again, I don't use much vinyl on my wood. often, who knows, who knows, I guess we'll find out, so this is after drying for 24 hours and we're going to do the same thing, helmsman, go with your light coats, especially be careful with those holes because I don't want you drip to the other side of your sign. I was very happy with the shadow on the side. I love it and you know, you see and you know what I'm talking about.
Everything happens for a reason, so this is Hello Pumpkin. I also created this decal. I almost never buy stickers at the silhouette store and stuff like that. I usually always make them myself because I'm picky, so I'm just looking at this and using the lines on the board as a guide and then you. Guys also remember like I said I use the 15 inch round because I have never made this reversible sign before so I didn't want to make it big so keep that in mind if you are just starting to make these wood rounds start with something small, start with 12 inches or 15 inches, you know you don't have to go that big right away, so here we go, look how cute, guys, this tape is 2.34 cents from Walmart and it's such good quality.
They're cute, they have the best tape right now, so don't be embarrassed or yell at me, but I seriously took off this whole nine foot thing because I'd never done this before, so I didn't know how much tape I was going to need. Do this, but you, has it been simple or has it been simple? Well we're just passing the ribbon through and you can do it a couple of ways like tie it or not and then let it hang like this or I thought an even cuter way would be to tie it in the front with a bow and then the back will be your hanger , makes sense?
So I passed the ribbon and now I'm just tying it in a bow, don't worry, I'll do it. Use all the excess I cut off on another project, but look how pretty this ribbon is. Oh my god, I love it and I'll put it on. I need to measure. I'll take it off the sign and then measure how long I finished. above um cutting these but it looks so cute okay that's it guys let's show you guys I'll show you the front look I love it look at that shading there I love it guys this is going to be a great product to sell. the 15 inch one actually this is my first time making a 15 inch one and I really like the size of the door it's super cute it would be great for indoor use and it's also upside down take a good look at it and then I'll show you with the bow on the side of the boot, so I hope you learned a lot from this video.
I hope I inspired you to try some of these. I hope it inspired you to keep trying even if you're failing at some things and I'm not. I even want to say filled, forget that word, do you know what happens if you continue with your bad self? It's okay, never give up and I'll see you guys again soon. Be sure to like and subscribe. Goodbye, they're getting older. I don't. I don't know how to use myself to look out the window apparently he's cutting my lip gloss dad is there you're like a kid your dad is there and you still insist that I'm going to put a gopro on you, get that dog okay?
