I would like to welcome the Middle States committee to the new High Park Memorial, my name. is Mike de Martino principal of the new High Park Memorial High School New High Park Memorial is a special place to learn to teach and work we are all dedicated to providing and meeting the emotional and academic needs of our students September 10, 1956 new HDE Park Memorial High School opened its stores to 1,400 students and a tradition of excellence was born.

The new H High Park community is proud of its diversity and traditions and the

has managed to keep up with an ever-changing society by offering a wide range of programs. and cutting-edge technology today is a Long Island landmark serving nearly 1,800 young men and women. The homes in this community are built on the border of New York City and in 45 minutes a family can travel to the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The new High Park Memorial has been distinguished and recognized in many ways. The new High Park Memorial is a New York State Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Here at New High Park we are proud of our academic course offering. We offer traditional courses such as mathematics, foreign language. science, social studies, and English, our advanced placement courses challenge our students to become critical and inquisitive thinkers. They include composition and literature in English. Sciences, biology, chemistry and physics, Europe, the United States and world history. Psychology, art, calculus and foreign language. New High Park offers a wide range of alternative programs to meet the needs and interests of our diverse student body while emphasizing their uniqueness and individuality. What we are especially excited about is the Finance Academy, which bridges the business community with school internships that allow students valuable experience in the business world while pursuing their academic interest.

Our extensive art department offers design and photography classes while Our music programs allow students to express their creativity and talents The music program last year won more than five prestigious Sisma awards The Talented and Gifted program offers opportunities to those students whose unique and extraordinary gifts require special selling points and Our Model UN program asks students to find viable solutions to global, national and community concerns. Our special education departments, core and resource programs. We provide support to our at-risk students. Our special education department also houses a district program for developmental delays. Students These students receive small classes with intensive support including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and services for the visually impaired.

Our student personnel department offers a variety of services. Our counselors meet regularly with students and parents and provide guidance and counseling services that help our young students with the transition from elementary school to

school and our senior students with college and career counseling. Our clinical professionals offer their services to help students cope with the emotional, psychological and personal problems they may face as they mature at New High Park. New High Park is proud of its academic achievements, but also realizes that school is a time for social interaction, fitness and fun, here to talk to you about our extracurricular programs, is Assistant Principal Maria HEC, On any given day the halls and sports fields ring for hours and the clubs abound for all interests.

There are more than 50 athletic teams and 40 extracurricular activities. Coaches and advisors are available before and after school to ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to participate. New High Park's full range of sports programs have provided competitive outlets for male and female athletes. and help promote good health and team spirit. Featuring groups like the Cheerleaders, Romanets, and Twirlers, who can be seen at most games supporting and cheering on their new High Park teams, whether it be art or foreign language. Our clubs allow students to express themselves. Students can enrich their writing skills by joining The Chariot school newspaper or The Lance school yearbook.

Whether it's basketball, theater arts, or marching band, our students have the opportunity to develop their interests and skills and, most of all, their self-esteem. . Our students are encouraged and reminded of the importance of good citizenship when volunteering their time in our community. Key Club members participate in numerous community activities, for example the Senior Luncheon provides a day of fun food and entertainment for over 500 seniors. Our National Honor Society offers its peers. Tutoring and our student council participate in numerous events and activities in the community, as you can see, our extracurricular activities are a source of pride here at New High Park, but New High Park continues to grow, change and evolve.
