Steph Curry "GREATNESS" - NBA Players on Steph Curry (Kobe, Jordan, LeBron..)

Apr 17, 2024
This guy finally belongs in the discussion with Michael Jordan being one of the best offensive

players

we've ever seen. Kobe, what do you think about when you watch St Curry? I see calm in him, I see calm in him and I think it's something that a lot of

players

don't understand, I think so. I think it's very difficult for fans to really understand what I'm saying. CU most players don't understand it, but there's a real calm about him, which is um, it's extremely deadly, right, because he's not up, he's not down, he's not contemplating what just happened before or worrying about what will come next is simply there and when a player has the skills and has trained to have the skills to be able to shoot Juke. dribble from left to right, etc. and then you mix it with this calmness in Poise, then you have a serious, serious problem on your hands, so when I watch him play, that's what I see, look at the guys that can carry the banner here, from LeBron to KD Curry .

Anthony Davis, what is your message to them moving forward in this league? Well, my message would be: don't think about carrying anything, just think about winning as many championships as you can, you know? And then transportation comes from that right because that's how you set the standard, you know you can't, that's not something that can be given to you, right? You've got to pedal to the medal, you've got to win and Steph's obviously off to a remarkable start, I mean, him. it's the perfect storm for him because he developed fully and skillfully as a player on both ends of the floor and you know he's in a system that suits him extremely well and he's got teammates that fit extremely well so he's got a great opportunity here. to run away quite a few Steph Curry is ruining the game I'm on the internet now I see a group of little kids dribbling 100 footer shots to warm up to start the game, but he's doing something for them, he's given them a chance.

More Interesting Facts About,

steph curry greatness nba players on steph curry kobe jordan lebron...

I know Steph is probably the most influential player when it comes to Little People, yeah right, because I see a lot of little guards like little kids. I go to these tournaments and they do things that I can't even do well. and it's good and you know there's always been a respect, a level of respect that goes even beyond the game of basketball, what I feel for Steph, everyone's writing them off this year, everyone's saying that, well, now that you know Clay's hurt, can Steph? leading a team on his behalf, what is he going to be able to do?
steph curry greatness nba players on steph curry kobe jordan lebron
Can he run a team on his own? Can he lead a team to the postseason? Can he keep a team afloat? He already did that and more, we were all trapped. In the record sometimes we get caught up in who has the best record and you know, instead of just saying who had the best season that year, and Steph had, in my opinion, the best season, all year, I had the guard step. four times this year it's difficult, yeah, it's extremely difficult to score because it's like you have guys like Kyrie and Dame that do everything off the dribble.
steph curry greatness nba players on steph curry kobe jordan lebron
I think it's easier to mark a guy like that, it's not easy to mark. but you're not using as much energy as when Steph throws the ball he runs to the other corner, catches it, does a couple of dribble moves, comes out of a pick and roll, throws it again and then gets three screens and it's not even a play is just that they know what the other wants to do, so I think it's very difficult to protect Steph, you have to be in the best shape of your life. I still think he doesn't really get the respect he deserves, like the guys think.
You know he uses a lot of screens and guys think they can create mismatches with him defensively, but it's a real problem and I think I told KD. KD said I missed it, he said he missed me on the shot he took and I told him. You know, you two are like Michael Jordan, there's no such thing as a bad shot like that, that's real and people don't understand the presence you have on the court, especially on offense. I think his biggest weapon is obviously the way he shoots the ball and then he can dribble at any time, at any time, so it's hard to defend him because you have to pick him up pretty much in the middle of the court because he'll take it from Right there, yeah, is there anyone you have?
Have you ever played? Who has that kind of range or close to that kind of range? Who is coming? You have to learn a lot about clay, the last brother. Honestly, it's just ridiculous and I think another thing that separates him is his humble confidence. he can go one for 12 out of three next game he's going to shoot 12 more so I think that's what makes him cool also he's on a different planet right now he's an alien No, no, no, I don't get it. I don't understand, I fouled him on a half court shot when we played him three weeks ago and he St.
I'm pretty sure he didn't even look at the rim and he still almost made it. the rim and the foul was not called. I wonder: what's wrong with you? You take? Can I get some of that please? Because you're like you're crazy. I have said this before. The the the. took advantage of something, some transcendent level of consciousness or something like he's he's the things he even tries the things he even tries yeah, I'm like bro, consider it oh no, but as far as basketball, I'm like I'm putting this in the Small children. heads like this it's okay to try no it's not okay to try only he can do this only he does this no one else I honestly believe there are great shooters in the NBA Steph may be the best shooter we've ever seen and all of these there have been Great I know which maybe it definitely is, so talk about it.
You think Steph is the best shooter. The best shooter we have ever seen. Why do you feel it so strongly? I agree with you. I just love you because for the shots he makes it's by far one of the hardest shots I've ever seen, wow, let alone cross, let alone me cross from behind, just let go, turn, just run to the other side and then there is nothing more to say. When I let this go, don't go for the rebound, we need to get back and that's extreme. I mean, not only is he extremely confident, but he's a talented man, he's a talent in half his father, obviously, you could say he's one of the best. 15 20 depending on what you are as a shooter, but for him to make all those shots off the dribble from the middle of the court, like the shot he made against Oklahoma City two years ago, kind of ridiculous, crazy, but yeah, like the Wings guard, man that Dude, that guy is the threat, it's just impossible, it's especially the way they run their offense and the way he and Draymond have this thing like telepathy, the guys that came back this year like Damon Lee with Anderson Jordan P Looney and then they brought Dre back.
They're actually understanding how to play with him now, how he operates, how he moves when he delivers the ball and keeps running in circles until you fall asleep and then even then he shoots from 30 feet. makes it look like he's on the edge sometimes it's indefensible, you know, because it's like what do you want to do, did you see, did you see the highlights against the Hawks, right 50 50 hamburger, like there was a possession, I don't remember where it was, I don't even know who is defending him. Steph catches it on the bottom right of the team's television screen.
He's like Shimmy Shimmy and the guy defending him moves in unison with him like Perfect Defense and then Steph just side steps and throws him. He gets up and goes inside. I mean, I mean put the ball in and move on to the next play like you can't do anything about it. The fact that the other night, um, when they played that, you know, we were really following it to see. if he makes 16 threes in the game, it lets you know how amazing this guy is. I mean, if he's a guy in NBA history who can make 16 3-pointers, it would be Steph Curry.
I'm literally sitting there and doing it. the math in my head is like 163, okay listen I know he's done 12 a few times, well I mean if there's anyone who can do it it'll be him and that'll let you know how amazing he is, there's always that. Debate whether you hate losing more than you love winning, right? And I feel like for me losing is the worst feeling in life in anything, whether it's cars, B golf, basketball, whatever, I hate losing, I mean, it's not even a question. but I mean I have to respect losing because losing is part of winning, yeah you never know winning, you have to lose to win, does it mean as much to us as it does to them?
And if that's the case, then losing is going to absolutely hurt you, you know, to a point where you would look at how can I do things differently, how can I change, how can I make this team better and that's what happens. with a team, and you know this is also that before you can look. elsewhere you have to look in the mirror because that's how things start and you have to be willing to change and you have to have a sense of pride in yourself it's not about money it's not about anything but rather pride and You know the best players, whoever plays the best is going to win, so Steph Curry shouldn't be offended when he sees this.
I hope not, he's still a great player, not a Hall of Famer yet, although he's not. Steph is the one I've never seen. Nobody like him, I told him last night. I told her when you play Force like you, I've never seen a player like you before and Steph is my favorite player because again, this is something I've never seen before and when she first came in I hated it. About him, am I really the guy who sits on the couch and when he goes to the corner and throws it up there's no way he's going to get in and get in and then you know I wait, he's not going to do this?
NE go and finally he earned my respect and he is my favorite player. I wish I could shoot like that and I used to hate him at the beginning of his career, but he's not going to achieve that, but he kept proving him wrong, that's why. he's the best I can be I like to be proven wrong yeah so my message to these young cats when I say something prove me wrong yeah take it wrong this is what reminds me of Steph Curry when I see him, he reminds me of a cute baby. he's so little and so cute and he's the only one who kisses him every time I see him, but now he's killing it, he's so dominant right now, you know, the things he's doing, he's bringing excitement to the game, but again, it's so beautiful.
Yeah, when I look at him and this is my favorite player look when he came in, you know he wasn't talked about much, but you know he worked his way up to be the best shooter that ever played the game and the kid works hard with class. smart kid plays the game the right way and I like it because this is something I will never be able to do you know he played with a lot of shots this guy I know can shoot he's a great team player and that's why he's my favorite player . If I'm playing to watch anyone play it's Stephen G.
I'm glad he's playing in this era because if he played in our D era, I would have to tweak it and it would have hurt my heart to have to tweak it. Because I just like to watch him play like I have to watch TV, like I'm a guy who doesn't play basketball and I have kids who want to play basketball when the Golden State Warriors come to town. I will see it. you're going to see that and then you'll know the title of the best shooter to ever play, don't ask, it's him by far, leaps and bounds, you know Curry, uh, you respect the shot so much that he tries to make his teammates make plays and you .
I know they were making plays tonight, but like I said, you know, we let the first quarter dictate our mindset for the rest of the game, Scotty, that's notable, first of all, do you think we'll ever see another Steph Curry or is this just? something unique, I think this is truly unique, unless you can force your son to look up your records because he's the only one who will have the DNA to be able to even think about trying to capture this, huh, it's Incredible, I mean, if you look how this kid shoots the ball from behind the three point line, he shoots it like it's a layup, there are no restrictions, he's changed the rules of the game, I mean, if you compare his three attempts. for Ray Allen and Ray Allen was probably getting three to five a game, while Steph was probably getting 10 to 15 a game, so I don't see any player in the league that can really change this picture unless he and Klay are on separate teams.
Fantastic, I mean, I enjoy watching him play, you know, after the game, I told him, you guys have to go ahead and make history, and you know he had the same response that I would have had, he said, you know, I have to chase you. and I said great, absolutely come and do them well and you know it's great for me to see these players develop and you know to be able to step back and watch them grow and watch them do what they do so it's fun if you look at the players from the NBA today, who is the closest or who would you say has a Kobe instinct about them, no, you know, there are several of them, I think right now they approached the game, you know, extremely, extremely seriously and I have Don't miss watching Golden State play because you know they seem very easy going, you know, Clay and Steph seemed like very calm and nice guys, and those guys are Stone Cold Killers, man, they don't care what you think about them.
They don't care if they make a play, win a shot or miss a shot, they are there to do their job and that's it.You know. They have a very strong sense of killer instinct, like they're a complete package offensively. He's very good at shooting threes, but he's very good at getting open for layups, like he's mastered it. You know how to free yourself without dribbling the ball. um he's so elusive and fast you know it's hard to tell, one second you look away he's gone or if you're not attached to him he's gone so honestly it only takes five players to be aware . where he is, uh, because you know, once you take a step, you know, and he gets out of there, so he shoots so fast, you know you can't let him get free, so that's what happens when he gets So.
You've got to just overwhelm him, you know, and you know, try to force him to play with his body, you've got to try to wear him down, um, but you know we didn't do that well enough tonight, um, but again, those are good things. Take it with us when you look at Steph's three-point contest, I mean, he missed like the first four four or five shots and it was like nothing and you know Cony was like 28 or seven, he just went on and made two, two, three points. like the green balls I had this year and then he made all his two point balls and then he just made one last shot to win it, it was like I knew he just makes it easy, makes it look so easy, I mean.
Honestly, as a fan of the game, it's beautiful to see how much you enjoy watching them shoot like that and that means it's very special. I mean, that's why guys are so cool. How do you do that? One thing that is practiced is that. Your hips are your core, whatever and he just explained it to me. He performed his similar drills that he does, but most importantly he says that at the end of each workout he actually practices those shots when he is most tired. He feels like when he's in a game and he's fresh, you know he can make those shots, but doing what he does with those two guys is just ridiculous, even the shot he made against OKC.
I mean, who does that in a playoff series likes winning? the series and you like it so confidently, bring it to me. I mean, confidence I think has to play a huge role in it too, but to me it was one of the most incredible shots I've ever seen in my life when I saw it, I just stood there and I stared at the TV and I thought : wait, what just happened like this, this is not normal, this doesn't happen like this, but Steph Curry proved it last year, he proved it again. this year, he's one of the best to ever play this game, he's on Mount Rushmore, um from the standpoint of changing the face of the game, but you tried to protect this man.
I can't imagine why you like that Adam, because Shaq wasn't going to come out and Hing was on the step, so I just want to know that it couldn't have been fun, it had to be horrible, no, um, scared, you got a little bit of afraid and not like you're afraid of a guy, but just not knowing what he's going to do when a guy comes up and obviously has an incredible handle, but when a guy can shoot from anywhere on the court, when he shoots from the left and he shoots to the right and then when he hits the ball up, he's even more lethal with his cuts, with his screen, with his ability to come off screens, I mean, he's just impossible to defend, so when I look This guy, I saw him shoot shots, Candace, and I'm like, no, no, that's not, that's not a good shot and it's like, but for Steph, that's a perfect shot and what I love about Steph is, obviously all the highlights that we see from him shooting, you know, shooting these 50F Footers, but what I love about him is his ability to give the the ability to play without the ball, his ability to pass the ball with both hands and also his ability to get in there and, as we talked about, he is a great finisher, people don't give him credit because we see the half-court shots he takes. but he's a great finisher with both hands, he takes contact well, so this guy is phenomenal, yeah, so I spent a week with Steph training in the bay, I brought my brother with me, it was great, I mean, I just did it every day early in the morning and sometimes we return at night. um a lot of high intensity shooting workouts, but you also know the biggest attribute of the dribble step is its good form, so you know we were running through the game. quick shots and really chasing every shooting competition, every shooting exercise was a competition too so we were shooting at each other and then we kept track of our wins to see who would win at the end of the day and it was super fun.
You know, Steph and I go back to when I used to go to his camps in high school so that's how I know Steph um and we've stayed in touch since then so it was good to work with him. size to be able to make your shot feels like he changed basketball I agree I agree I was joking with my family the other day about how this is the right time for me to go out, I mean with Steph. um, changing the game and a big part of the NBA style of play is moving to the three-point line and, uh, spacing the court, uh, I think Steph changed the game that way, so I came out at the right time. .
Why I think the beautiful thing about Steph Curry right now is that he is the best prospect when it comes to shooting Sho well. I think maybe for a second or I think anyone might think for a second that, you know, maybe I'm having a pretty good shooting season, I'm doing this or that and then you look at the stats that this guy is consistently putting up. and it's just otherworldly. I think in the last five games he's averaging over nine three-pointers. per game, yeah, I had a stretch last year where I think in three games I made 24 or 25 threes and I legitimately felt like everything I threw up was going in.
I felt like he was throwing the ball into the Atlantic Ocean like he would. He would never miss and this guy has done it 10 times, I mean he's done nine a game for five games in a row, it's disgusting, it's an absolute joke, I think it's if you look at his numbers and I think at this point he surpassed his unanimous season of MVP. It doesn't matter, it's amazing what he's done, he needs to be in this conversation about MVP, because when you see him play basketball, he's one of the few players in the NBA, when you see him play it's very clear that no one else in the NBA can do it .
What she's doing I thought her performance that night was very indicative of who Steph has shown she is all season, you know, at the beginning of this season there were so many questions about, oh, Steph doesn't get the easiest shots, the shots easy things I used to do. You understand, you know, he doesn't have all those guys with him anymore, you know, and he can't do it and you know he's responded to all that criticism in the way, you know, I think that's what bothers me. most of it is people questioning his legacy at the beginning of this season you know one season doesn't leave a legacy and one game doesn't leave a legacy and we see that a lot of times when you start talking about the greats like Steph uh Lebron James of people trying to hang his legacy, you know, in one season or one game, and I think it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever been able to show, how few legacies really exist and why people don't understand what a legacy really is and So, the way that he showed up and performed on Sunday night at Allstar Sunday in Atlanta, won the three-point contest the way he did, went out and started making a jump, you know, the all-star game, you know. getting the energy there, that's Steph, although you know he brings the energy to the gym, so I thought it was amazing and like I said, it was very indicative of what Steph Curry is showing the world this year and obviously.
I mean, when they had KD and, you know, clay and all that, it's harder and I think for us it was good, some of those guys went down and it's like now I was like, we just got triple. Curry's team likes it and then we like it at the end of the day, like not to say the other guys aren't good, but like me, I just don't want Curry to get 50, that's all, you know what I mean and the rest, as we can. We're going to fight like we're going to fight, like pass the ball to someone, we're going to run around, you know, you like to challenge, but if you're not going to trip him, how are you supposed to defend Steph?
Yeah man, I don't know, I can do it. I'm not telling you what bro, this guy is like, I mean, most of the time he feels like he's throwing up that thing like it comes in every time, like it's so amazing, you know, like and and and I think one of the things We've always done it, it's like me, we're going to try to take out the best player, so sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but especially with a guy as incredible as Curry, that's what you have to do. I can't just watch him come off screens and shoot from half court knowing he's going in and still let him do it.
And you know what I mean. And I know that sometimes he likes him. Oh yeah. I think it's far, but bro, this guy is like a layup, so one thing is that's underrated, it's like Steph's conditioning level is crazy because I think for me to just watch them like he gives the ball away. and always. moving like he just likes to run and he can still run so fast and try to get open and once he catches it he can still do it like he's a layup. Steph, I think Steph, you know, yeah, it's his. I don't.
I know, I think his conditioning is underrated because the way he runs everywhere to get open every night is crazy. I mean, he's been a great teammate for eight years, and even a best friend, and you root for guys like Steph because he doesn't accept it. Any shortcut, he works very hard, he's a family man and he's just a great example of what you want your leader to be a great ambassador in the community and hopefully we know we can become one of the best secondary courses ever have played. and it's obviously been a very beneficial partnership for both of us and I could imagine playing with any other CU point guard.
We have such great chemistry. We know everyone's favorite places where we want the ball. Yes, I'm grateful to share the backcourt. with him because he is an incredible and selfless competitor and teammate. I said yesterday that he's one of the best players you know to ever touch the ball, so not just me, anyone guarding him is going to have a tough time between him and Dame is probably the toughest. two guards, you know you have your space in this league, but a lot of credit goes to his condition and I don't think a lot of people talk about that enough, he moves constantly and can shoot from anywhere, so I mean it's a challenge. difficult, but you have to prepare for the play and do what you can.
My him is always the one on the side in an even kill, focused on the game, ready to make the next play, trying to keep everyone else focused and not really succeeding. involved in the nonsense on the court, you need a guy like that with no K in the game. Steph is becoming the closer, so he's closing out now, he's not only making big shots, but he's closing out the game and he's also making plays, as we see now. He made plays to win games. No team has a player who can be that guy when Katie is off the court or be that guy when Katie is on the court.
Now let me say this too. Steph has more going for him than James Harden. James is a great scorer. he can't shoot at medium range. Steph can shoot mid-range, he can shoot threes, he can make plays, he can do it all and people don't give Steph props like he's not one of the four best five players in the league after these . last two games, I think people should start switching to see why people praise him the way he does. I think what makes the pass so difficult is that I don't know if we've ever seen someone in the game who can move without the ball. so, I mean, you know from playing in the league that his conditioning is incredible, it's almost like when he gets rid of the ball he's like a bigger threat, which isn't the case for a lot of people, it's the case for a lot of you.
You know dunking shooters like that, but when you do it, you know Steph has a little more control than you guys, so that makes it tough too, but I would definitely say he has to be 1A, I mean, Steph. Steph is one of the best players in our game today, so it's tough. I think he will be in that conversation. He is already in that conversation. Greatest shooters of all time, so once he gets it going, there's not much you can do except. you know, I try to be there and I hope that in many ways I miss Steph is our franchise, you know, I think when people think of the Warriors, they think of Steph U, that's the first thought and I think he also embodies what we are . terms of the style of play and the joy with which our players play and everyone connects with step fans, kids, when I was in Phoenix as general manager we were desperate to get Steph in the draft and one of Our thoughts in the office main one was, "You know, all the little kids in The Valley in Phoenix are wearing Steve Nash jerseys, but we need, we need the next player who, you know, who might be that player that the kids are going to go to." I bought the jerseys and I kept imagining these, you know, the Steph Curry Suns jerseys and all over Scottdale and Phoenix and he just had something about him coming out from college that you knew like no one knew he was going to be an MVP but you could tell that people would connect with him because he seems you know, like you or me, or you know he's just a normal looking guy and, um, and without.
However, he's got this electric U-shaped ability and an incredible personality, so you put all those things together and he's the face of the franchise when he was in Denver and we played him in a series and, um, he shot in front of the bench and the whole thing. team, the whole front, right in front of our bench, the whole team is going crazy near him and he drops the ball, turns around and tells him to shut up, Ball is like in the air, it's like he doesn't even care. I was even close to the rim and the whole team said this was the opposing team, like I had never seen that before during the game at that time, but I'm a great competitor.
I'm on a court like it's whatever, I don't care, that doesn't impress me, it's just my competitive nature, but in practice one day they called us the bums, the scrubs, so we'll always beat the second unit. They with this damn practice man went crazy as if he was not missing and it was like now we blame the sub referees or as we call them, the alternative referees who come to help us now we curse him. out because he can't miss and then if he missed call a foul and I mean one time I got mad and like I forgot he was on my team and I pushed him he still made the shot I mean we played like seven minutes man that had.
Having like 25 points, man, it was crazy and at one point Sean Livon just stopped, it was like I don't know if he's ever seen anything like that different because when you're in a game playing with someone as good as you. I don't really see how good they are because you focused on doing what you had to do so you missed

greatness

by playing with

greatness

, that's the funny thing because when I watched Steph last season I found myself being a fan. a couple of times and then I had a close friend, you know, Evan Turner was like my man and when we played them in the Western Conference Finals, Evan was like a brother.
I almost cheered when he took a shot like I forgot I was playing against him. He was like a man, I've never seen anything like that, damn, he's good, but he was like a man to catch me like, oh, I'm on the, I'm on the other team and what makes him unique, he doesn't really play the game. with finesse or strength, you're close to him, he's a normal guy, but he's actually a competitor and the other thing is he's a shot taker, you know? And when I call a shot taker on the run, he throws little floaters off the backboard and being around him has been a great thrill for me to see a kid who is so good, so modest, so grounded and you walk in the locker room with him, you don't know that this is a two-time MVP, back-to-back years, you don't know.
I even know that for the Warriors, having someone like him forgets the game of him, the voice of him, the presence of him is truly unique among athletes. I have never been around a nicer athlete in my life. I love it, I love the fact that he's so competitive. You don't see him coming in, dunking balls jumping everywhere, he just plays. I mean, he's tremendous, he's also going to get better the way you know, obviously, he's been phenomenal throughout his entire career and, more importantly, just. He's a great guy, you know, and I mean, he wishes he could be there if he's breaking the record, obviously we don't know.
I wish I could be there to congratulate him, but you know, I'm one of the guys in our league. that we'll congratulate him socially and things of that nature, but listen, I know Ray, you know, and I know the work he put into it and if he's a guy that needs it, he has to do it or, you know, let someone pass his record . and being personal, I know Ray is definitely grateful to be a guy like that, so it's a pretty cool accomplishment and uh, you can't even curse it because it's going to happen, it's going to happen, it could happen tomorrow, you know?
He can, but it's going to happen, so um.
