My name is Carrie Fuller and I am the Education Director for Baby Hair Extensions and we are here in our amazing baby showroom, it is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and it is a one stop shop for all things baby and just babies so I'm here to help. Today we're introducing our model Denise and we're going to talk about

hand

weft

extensions and some cool things you can do with them, so let's go ahead and take a look to make a lot of people feel like

hand

tied

weft

extensions. They are a type of app that is not real, hand tied weft extensions are actually a type of weft, this is what a hand tied weft extension looks like.
hand tied weft installation
You can see that it's very thin and very light, by the way it's actually built. uses thread and small strands of hair that create a very thin small braid that creates the application point at the top of the weft. They are amazing for people who have very thin or fine hair and you can place up to three of them in any layer. a bead trace and then they are sewn which I'll show you how to do in just a second so the other type of weft that is also sewn into the hair is called machine sewn weft so you can see it's a little bit different, it's a little thicker and a little heavier, it's actually multiple wefts that are pre-sewn together, so they can actually come with three tracks sewn together or two wefts sewn together and then they can be deconstructed into individual pieces. to fit the thickness and density of the client's hair, so a lot of people love them because they provide more thickness on the scalp and cover the client's hair a little faster, but you never want to apply more than one layer the way in that it comes out of the package like this, if you tried to put another one on top like that, it would be too heavy for the client's hair, okay, so now let's move on, I want to show you how to install the hand tied weft extensions. in Denise's hair okay so you can see I already sewed part of the weft into Denise's hair because I want to show you how to create the stitch on both sides and then talk about how to fold this if you end up with your weft going too far time beyond the section of beads that you are working with, so I applied my track of beads by placing them next to each other and they are measured by measuring approximately measuring your section two lengths of the bead this way and then a length of the Count this way is fine and then place them next to each other within that row.

More Interesting Facts About,

hand tied weft installation...

We always use silicone beads to support the weight of the wefts no matter what type of extension we are putting in the hair. What I'm doing is I'm creating a knot on this side of the bead and on this side of the bead, so when I start my stitch, I'm going to go through that base section of Denise's hair and I'm going to go around that hand tied weft, throw that needle through and around that section and then you'll see what happens: it creates a little loop, so I'm going to take that needle and I'm going to put it through the top of the loop like this creating knots in the thread section and as you sew, it actually holds the weft in place a little better than if you were just creating loops and not actual knots to create the On the other part of that knot, I'm going to take that needle and I'm going to go through that exact same section and as the step this time, you'll see here's my loop again.

Okay, this time I'm going to go through that loop. The first time I went down, this time I'm going up, so I put it up and pulled it up nice and tight. I always want to pull in a vertical motion, if I pull towards me it will move the thread to the front of that weft and then you can see it. We always want that thread to be hidden at the top of the plot. Now, for educational purposes, I have chosen a bead and thread that is a little lighter than Denise's hair so you can. I see a better picture as we do this, so I'm going to go over this section on the left side of the bead and I'm going to circle the plot, okay, as I go through it, there's my loop, I go down the first time. pull up to tighten it nice and then I go through that exact same section and I want to try to keep the needle straight up and down so if I come out this way at an angle I'm going to create big splits in that weft and it just doesn't show so pretty so straight up and down with that needle pull it out and there's my loop and this time I go up okay so now that would complete the section if this was my last bead and I'm done here I'd just go over again for that same section.
hand tied weft installation
I do it twice and then just tie it with a knot, but if you end up having hand tied weft extensions they come pre-cut, basically they are about 10 inches. long or baby weft, we also have a five inch long weft that you can use, so if your bead section isn't exactly perfect when you get to the end, you have two options: you can cut it and glue it or you need to fold it, so We recommend that you fold it instead of gluing it so you don't risk it coming apart, but I'm going to show you how to do both, so if you were going to fold it you can put it back on top like this or you can try hiding it underneath.
Now it depends on the weft you are using and it depends on the client's hair. How easy it is to get it under. I like to put it underneath yes. I can make it so it doesn't show as much, so now this is the only time I'm going to go through that section of hair at an angle, so I'm going to go back through Denise's section of hair and I'm going to angle it like this so it's wrapping around and through that weft, okay, when it comes up I do the same thing, here's my loop, okay, and I would put it through it, I just have to hold it with this. hand to keep it tight, then I tighten that edge, lift it up and secure it and then I'll do the same thing going through that at an angle.
You can also do this type of application or you can also do this all the way to the ends of any of your weft extensions, if it has what we call wings that stick out on the sides to pull them in and get them nice and close to the scalp, that's fine, like this, and then that will be completed so that I'm not going to stick out, so all I do is go ahead and tie that knot on my thread. Okay, I like to make it so you can hide it a lot of times. You can even put it back in the section that comes down. you just pull it all the way and then you can tie the knot in the back under here and that way it won't look good either and then you just cut the thread and leave it about an inch long and that's it.
I also want to show you how to cut out the weft and glue it on, so here I have my hand tied weft extension. If I was going to trim it, I need to use a pair of our scissors and I'm going to trim it. through the top of that attachment point, remember it's like a braid, so if you think about it, if you had a braid installed in your own hair and you clipped it in the middle of that braid or clipped something in the middle of that braid, everything would come undone so it's the same with this you have to glue it so it doesn't come apart and it has to be well glued so you are going to use a weft adhesive we have our version our brand which is incredible and everything you are going to do is remove that brush and you're going to go over the top of that weft along the edge that was cut and across the back and then across the top.
Well, now we recommend that you go through everything. the length of that weft just to make sure it's nice and secure, so I like to take one of our little mini clips and just grab that end and just press it. I make the mini clip so I don't attach my fingers to the weft and get stuck to it, okay, so I'm just going to press it like this, then I take it off and get it. I'll do it again, so I do this same process three times and cross it. on the end, on the back and on the top, and then I'll press it with my mini clip and hold it, if I can get it, I'll press it and hold it in place, okay, and I'll leave it.
Dry for about 30 seconds between each. That way you know it won't fall apart again. We recommend folding rather than cutting and gluing, but you can do it. Now I want to show you something really fun and another great opportunity we have. I have with weft extensions, so here let's take a look at what I've done so far, so this is a way to hide or make beads completely invisible, one of the things that a lot of people love about extensions hand tied weft o Weft extensions in general is that they lay very flat on the client's head and when you pull them apart you can't really see the weft like you can with tape in or bead extensions so one thing that is evolving and it's been a lot of fun to watch. in our industry with weft extensions is the ability to hide the bead trail as well, so I started here and I already did some of them just for the sake of time, but what I did was I put my bead trail in.
The beads are exactly the same as the which I made on this side, so side by side, same size, zero degree elevation and a silicone bead, then you place one of the wefts under that bead track and place the other weft on top of that. You follow the beads and you trim them, okay, like this, so now when I've sewn, all I've done is go around both wefts through the same section of hair, but around both wefts and tie my knots exactly the same. I'm going to show you how to do that in our last two sections.
Now I realize that my plot is too long, so I'll just show you how to do it around these last two sections of beads. Go through the base section and you can feel where the bead is where it's installed, so you don't have to like to take it out and look, so I fill that section. I go up and down. I'm going to make sure that I'm going all the way down making sure that my needle is following the scalp so I know that I'm grabbing the bottom and that second weft is okay, so I do the same thing.
I'm going to pass it, there's my loop. the top pull it up and pull it tight and do the same thing again go through the same section and pull my loop up the middle well so I do that for the rest of this section and then I would tie it at the end of the row just like you saw in the last section, one of the really interesting things, although I want to show you is the bottom side, when all this is done, how they hide very well, so let's finish this, okay? I finished the last bead, all I'm going to do is re-tie that knot at the top.
I can thread my needle through, tie it in the back so it's hidden, and then I just cut that thread to leave it about an inch long. Okay now here's the interesting part, once I unbutton it I'm just going to pull it apart on the bottom side and lift it up so you can see it so we're going to have a nice photo here nice tight Denise can you tilt your head ? aside for me please great so you can see the whole bottom is completely covered so there are no beads so no one can see them they don't show you you create a completely hidden or invisible bead track so that when you lift that hair up and you pull it up into any type of braid or ponytail, it's completely hidden, so that's one of my new favorite things and new favorite ways to apply weft extensions.
