#5 Sept 26 2022 Early Season Setup over Buck Bed in the Thick Stuff

good afternoon, it is Monday afternoon around 4:30. I finish today's work and return to the place where I was on Saturday. I found the first book. Sign up. I feel good about this set tonight. I'm still about 500 meters from where I'm going. I'm looking to set up, analyze the map and found that I could probably hunt it in a west northwest or even northerly wind along with any easterly winds. There is a small risk that it may be flushing out some deer coming from the east. of where I plan to set up, but I'm not too worried about that, I'm just worried about not tipping off where I think this bigger Buck is setting up.

Maybe I'll be a few feet closer to that bed I found, probably closer to 100 yards from there, I'll try to find a tree on the east side of the trail because we have a west northwest wind right now and I didn't take good notes, but I remember there were a couple of options on the east side. off the trail so it should be fine but yeah I'm going to take my time sneaking around here trying to be as quiet as possible. The wind is blowing 12 to 15 miles per hour, which will provide good noise coverage for my driveway.

I'm going to stay here and unless I see something fantastic to sign, the next update probably won't be until I'm in the tree because I'll try to be as quiet as possible when I get there. closer to where I think this guy's bedding is, so we'll get to that in a moment, so I popped up on this ridge. I saw some other oak trees that I didn't see on Saturday and wanted to check it out. I stayed like followed. The ridge down here saw a titmouse with a bed about 60 well probably 40 yards away if we're going to be able to see it in a sledding movie there it is I think it saw me when I saw it oh it broke up there, about 15 feet, how?

I'm going to go up probably eight and nine feet up here? I understand that neighborhood is there, this forest is only another 30 meters wide, extremely

, but I have a landing strip right here that comes right under the tree, the wind is blowing in that direction and there is another one. Good trail right here, about 10 yards, it's very

, it'll be hard to leave an arrow through there, but you should be able to figure it out. That dollar I found. I just measured it in onyx, it's only 65 yards up there. It's been very quiet so far, no, I don't think there's any way that he can, if he's there, hear me, especially with this wind and the wind is blowing good here, there's no swirls or anything like that, so they'll take me up here.

The trail that leaves here the wind blows this way and there is a weaker trail over here. I have a small shooting window at about 12 yards and if you go 30 yards that's the property line and the deer aren't going that direction, I know that. that on the east side I have this meadow 50 yards away 50 yards to there that grass, dead grass is 30 yards The trail here is 20 yards the wind blows that way, so if a dollar crosses me here, I'm going to I have to try to shoot them around here before I get to this patch of dead grass.

Here the trail goes back up there, it's about 200 250 yards to those two big white oaks I found the other day, like this Buck was laying down here. I'm close enough to his bed. You should be able to see him in daylight when he heads south toward those oaks. I think that will be his preferred food source at this point in the

season

, so we'll find out. If I'm right, it's going to be very complicated to shoot the video, it's very narrow. Quarters here, literally, my feet are only eight feet off the ground. I'm pretty well hidden around me with brush and vines and

stuff

. growing on this dead tree but by the time I see the deer I mean he'll be right above me at 15 yards max unless he's on that metal that's what I plan to do here is focus the camera on these two little guys points I could shoot and just let the camera run during the last hour of light and I'll hold my bow, probably have my release ready to go if I see antlers that excite me.
