fishing

. Come on. We did it. It was a fun little ride. I'm not going to lie guys I have a good feeling about today what the bait of choice for today will be long before we can figure that out we're going to have to do some exploring uh here's my thermometer always guys check the water. temperature because the last time I fished here was early spring, I'm not entirely in tune with the conditions here but it's all good we'll figure it out and by the way guys I've been reading your comments.

I appreciate all the positives. all the negatives, I appreciate the entire comment period and for those of you wondering where I was for a moment, go ahead and take a look at the comments section below and I'll try to answer that for you, but that's not my focus . Today's focus is on catching some giant fish, so let's put this thermometer in the water and see what we're working with today. It's actually pretty deep there, about 5 feet. There I can see the bottom, very clear water, please. don't get too cold if it's over 48 degrees we're looking good let's blow it might be a little tough this is a warm water flush and look we're 54 degrees.

More Interesting Facts About,

winter fishing madness underwater drop shotting...

I was in business today. I have sunny conditions clear water I have a train you know what I think this requires a finesse type presentation it's December so finesse this time of year is not unusual you know I'm thinking let's try a

drop

shot first we start it's Less Too bad I brought my steez because another baitcaster probably wouldn't be able to handle such a delicate presentation. Let's take as light a weight as possible but still maintain contact with the bottom right here. An eighth of an ounce cylinder style weight your way. Slide through all the obstacles down there, let's take a little hook shot again, we'll keep it small, this guy should be fine, he's probably a size one, probably size two, right here, hook shot, let's get the finesse out. rig and see if we can get a good natural looking shad imitation out of here look what we got this is micro finesse we don't need it yet here are some micro jigs a few small z-man jigs OOP dozen ed the rigs don't need this guy to be a possibility, that guy is a definite possibility between these two options.

I'm going to go with this Catch Co, a very clear and bright minnow bait, you know what we'll go for the smaller version. I think we make up, let's make cast number one. I'll throw it right in that corner over there, oh it was about eight feet away, you know what my hot cast is? One more try, okay, temporary number two, okay, I see what's happening. This baby is very light and I'm not tight with my throwing gear. I'm going to aim right there and then it should land right in the corner. Practice makes perfect. Does it bite?

Here we go. There is fish number one. I was checking checking my settings making sure my camera still looks good the bait was just sitting there without even moving look at that is beautiful I don't know if you can see them in the water but this water is so clear and pretty I hope you are the first and many little ones, let's go in, we have a light line, oh, that's slippery, you have a light line and we have an old line. I haven't changed his line in a long time, so let's play it safe. here come here buddy that's actually a little bigger than I thought ah there you go guys yeah it probably weighs a pound I hooked it right on the corner it pops up right away thanks for being the Number one, good friend, look at how you swim, there you go, that's good. sign I've been

fishing

for about 10 minutes and I already got fish number one and my initial hunch about using the

drop

shot worked, guys that's at least two and a half pounds right in front of me, I don't know if you can see it with your eyes withering, okay, he's looking at it, he's looking at it, no, he didn't want it, okay, nice try, getting a slap, don't even move the bait, yeah, I got it, I got it number two, oh, it's a baby.
I've been getting little hits on almost every cast, it's still pretty, but you know, I've got a fisherman, we want the biggest fish we can find, oh, oh, there's the oh, she's out, look, look, there's another one. that's next, that's the two and a half pound one and there's a 2 pounder, just two of them, there might be uh oh, they thought they'd be uh, wait, wait, maybe they got a little excited to see that little one, come on, come on, no, I'm not interested, oh, that's beautiful. cast that has to catch a fish that could be a tap that was and done not a tap oh yeah this Rahad here when I use braids with these super ultra sensitive micro guides I'm literally feeling every little tick deep down using this tungsten oh , wait, that was for sure, he bit, grabbed it and let go, okay, that's not the money.
I'm getting used to this 1/8 ounce weight anyway guys you don't necessarily need an ultra expensive rod yeah this. The reed is quite fragile but it is very, very sensitive and for an application like this it is absolutely perfect. I think this one cost me exactly $80. Oh, there is one. Here we go without some fish. I was working to pay too much and I moved. More than 10 inches from my spot there, oh the three and a half pounders following a cheese, why do I always catch the little ones? Makes you look at that, look at it, you see that right there, right there, three, oh, he's there, he's looking. in the waiting, look, it's there, it's okay, here's the plan, he's right, it's going up, it's going up three and a half pounds, big, fat, big black dot, oh, two of them, there's two, look at that, What the hell caught the little one? bites a fish when there's two giants right next to it, oh look, oh what look, this went up, mate, if I had two rods to reel in right now, I'd be killing these fish all day, he still put up a fight, look, just chased him around you.
I know what I think I caught the baby fish and that's his dad and he's like, What the hell is escaping that look that literally just followed him? It's crazy, we're going to get him inside, oh, I'm going to get daddy, oh. He's falling, he's trying to bite the weight, it's okay, little one, it's okay, oh, he's gone, yeah, as soon as he gets off a three-pound weight, oh, he'll come back, he's hanging around, wait, wait, wait a second here, yeah, perfect as soon as. That little fish comes out of the three and a half pound loops back oh oh oh, I got a bite yeah, half a pound, half a pound er I can only catch one little fish, so dumb I don't know, I mean, I want to Keep the bait real small because the smaller the bait the more natural it looks because the fish can't tell the imperfections when the baits are really very small but then you are more likely to catch small fish and sometimes the big fish may not be. so interested, so it's really just a trade-off, there's one that wasn't even moving the bait, another little knock on the shot, these guys fight real hard, though, oh look, well there you have it guys, the camera ran out of battery, so i.
I'm going to drop them on my phone so you can watch them explode into this beautiful crystal clear water. There it goes. Good news, if we teach another fish, bad news, I lost my bait, what's going on here? I have another. You might try the crossbred jackal. tail shad you know I'm going to try this this guy looks ultra realistic nice three inch size it's very soft you can tell us it has great action let me show you a tip if you're a bank angler like me and sometimes you fish in pretty tight spaces . I have trees to my left, trees to my right, and up a big tree, so I'm in danger of getting a pretty good reaction right now, so what I like to do in this situation is use what I call the throw. slingshot, which is basically just a cast and sort of a combined weapon throw, but you take the bait like you're about to cast it, you bend the tip of the rod a little bit, and then what you do is you use your wrist and you just you move the bait forward just like that and if you do this you won't be in danger of backlash and this is what it looks like to see that good distance, I mean, right there, they're probably about 20 yards or so without Even trying I was able to get it a little more but it's pretty good for a situation like this, it's low tide and the bite has completely died so I've decided to do a little Jackal vs fishing bait experiment and let's see which one it is. the top drop shot bait on the left, we have the jackal on the right, we have the catch go and the first thing I noticed is that the catch ko stays perfectly horizontal in the water, perfect for drop shot, while the jackal tends to having the tail sink towards the bottom and the reason for this is the way it is shaped and the added salt in the bait, you usually want your baits to be full of salt, it gives it a softer texture, it gives you it gives more weight and more flavor, but for release, that's not the case. the case so that the catch go bait stays perfectly horizontal as you can see right there, but it is very light and difficult to cast.
The catch go also has a much better designed body, it has a tapered tail and what it allows the bait to do is that. Even when you're barely moving, the rod tip has a really nice natural looking action. The Cacciucco bait also has something that I don't see very often, which is an aluminum strip in the center of the body and that strip flashes every time you move it. spin the bait and if you have a little bit of sunlight that perfectly mimics a fleeing baitfish so I think the video speaks for itself as to which bait I think is superior.
I've been on the bite list for two hours, one because it's low tide. and two, based on my

underwater

video analysis, it looks like the cross tell shad is not the ideal ultra-fine bait, so back to the catch, something oh, that was a nice touch. I'm pretty sure he understood that. We got it, it got it, it got it, oh yeah, I finally got another fish. We'll take anything at low tide. You can't expect the fish to be ultra active, but this guy really hit it with a lot of the bites I've had today. It's just little touches, but it looks like the bait of choice is this pure white foiled.
I don't know, I'll call it shimmer shad, that could be the name, I'm not one hundred percent sure, but all I know is. that I'm slipping all I know that's cold God okay I'm not going to go there I think it's light enough I should be able to lift it ha what I'm talking about and I still have my bait I'll let you go. Friend, at some point today I will meet one of the greats. I may sigh, but I won't sigh until the tide begins to move. Okay, look buddy, there's another one, yeah, oh, that feels really good.
I feel very good. Oh what. oh damn my gosh I'm going to check it out it's about two and a half pounds it would have been the biggest today damn man well that's a good sign hopefully these fish are starting to bite again. They caught him right on that corner, that's probably where he is. a bunch of brush on top, let's get back there oh we got one yeah oh that's good buddy you see I just threw the bait to Jeb. Did I sell a metal pole right there? This guy was hanging out right next door.
I'll take it yeah I love these fights you see everything in this water I guess so throw right there the bass hanging off the structure it's like fishing 101 ah gummi a friend of course I'll do it and everyone the small ones and then the only big one. catching it goes out of the way, but you know, that's how you fish, the big one always gets away, it's a good pound in a quarter to hit and a half my fishing net, but a pound and a quarter there's no way to hit it in half , it's fine, fine, and it looks superior.
Good friend, let go, but it's okay, I have exactly. I think I have about ten minutes left. Come here, buddy, oh no, it's stuck on the fence. There we go, let me show you what I have. I improved my equipment. Go big. or go home, the quarter ounce weight went to the bigger version of that uh, catch, go, bait, I dipped it in JJ's magic and a bigger hook, a small fish that I hook, hopefully not will escape, it's time to make it happen.
