drawing and we are not going to experiment. I've done it in the past. I'll show you what I do step by step and this will be especially helpful if, like me, you're... a little fluid with

your

canvas sizes. I personally never. print my art I don't mind the ratio of the canvas I'm using, but that's actually going to be important when we post art, so what we're going to do now is...

BOOM, look, we're going to work on this one, you've probably already seen the video, as you can see, this is a horizontal image and it is huge, we can go to the size of the image, it is 8500 pixels by 5000 pixels and the resolution is 300, so this image is huge. obviously it's very

high

quality but we're not going to post something like that on Instagram and I'll tell you why that's not what Instagram wants from you if you think about it, the app is made for mobile, so all the images that you will see, are that small, so they don't want you, they don't need you to put these huge images there, if you do, they'll just compress them and you don't want to leave anything to Instagram.

Don't just say "this is my file, do whatever you want with it and make sure it's posted in the best quality possible", that's not going to happen, so you need to make sure you do it yourself, you need to compress the image yourself or Instagram will do it. they will do it themselves and if they do it themselves it will be a little blurry and soft. What we are going to do now we are going to Google what the size of the image is, what it SHOULD BE and this is what We are getting that the Instagram post square ratio 1:1 is like 1080 x 1080 (pixels), is significantly less than 8000 and we have the portrait, so what we're going to do is go back to Photoshop, close that and we're done.

I'm going to create a new file, so the width will be 1080, the height will be 1 3 5 0 and the resolution for websites and anything you post online will be 72. You can use 300 for painting and printing, but if you post something online, change it to 72 so now... let's create our portrait post for

instagram

. I always go for portraits, because you're taking up as much space as possible and you're going to want to copy all of that at least that's how I do it, I don't crop my image, I don't do anything with it (the original file) and now we're going to "copy merged" " now... paste it in and now we have it here if we click on free transform THIS is our image, it's here so you can have an enlarged version or we can just play with it, so now we're playing with it and trying to choose the size (and composition) correct for Instagram, you can crop some parts.

You don't need the full image to be there if you prefer the larger version and you want to post just the portrait, let's say just his face because the image we were working on is so big that you can just post it. Be careful, if you prefer to publish just a very cropped version, you can also do that now that we have it here, we can save it, so what we will do is save a copy and you will choose a JPG. because this is the smallest one available and we don't want to overwhelm Instagram with PNG and stuff like that, yeah, you're just going to name your file with this beautiful name and now we're going to save it and we're going to have these options right here and you're choosing the

est quality and optimized format option and you're going to click OK and here it is! that's all I do honestly, sometimes what I'll do too, for example, I'll make a carousel post, let's paste this drawing one more time and zoom in a little bit on something like this, maybe? wait maybe a little longer so this actually looks a lot better ok let's do it and you can decide this is your first post and the other one will come later before you decide.

I suggest you walk away like this. to make it really small, more or less, the size of your phone, maybe even smaller (that would be really ideal) and you look at them both and then you can choose which one to post to your feed and that's it, to be honest, no more.
