Number 13 Wayne Roth In November 1997, Wayne Roth, a Pennsylvania man, was at the house of his friend, Roger Croteau, who had a pet cobra. Roth decided that he wanted to play with the highly venomous reptile. He reached into the tank, but the cobra perceived him as a threat and bit the 38-year-old

when

he picked it up. Despite warnings from his friend and against what most would consider common sense, Roth did not go to the emergency room. Instead, he believed that he would be able to resist the reptile's venom and reportedly told his friend, "I'm a man, I can take it." Instead of the hospital, Roth went to a bar, where he had a few drinks and bragged to other patrons about having been bitten by a cobra.

Her friend warned Covert that she had seen the alligator snatch a deer from the water's edge just a few days earlier. The woman responded that it didn't look like a deer and she continued with her plan to touch the animal.
She was still submerged in the water when Covert leaned down and reached out to pet him. In an instant, the beast pounced on the woman, grabbed her leg, and dragged her into the pond. A struggle ensued from which Covert emerged, albeit briefly. She only had the opportunity to jokingly state that she “won't do that again” before the alligator bit her once again. The attack ended with the beast dragging the woman underwater and drowning her. Local wildlife officials later reportedly killed it, although it was argued that the beast had simply done what was inherent in its predatory nature.
