Nice to meet you, I'm sweet, yes my friend, thank you, how are you okay? How was your night? The rope means rain. You know, when Luis arrives, you see that it rains a little, but when he returns he doesn't rain, yes, it is quite unpleasant. I'm glad I brought it yesterday. It was very dusty today, but that's how it goes. Yes, I wanted to work out myself with all the pacers mainly because I wanted to see where their fitness was and then based on that make decisions and relate them to each pacer where the best in the world train.

I was just telling Nate that the rink in Manhattan where we live is like a million dollars. track and this track is under construction and this is where the best people in the world train, but Nate was saying it's not me, all you need is the will to win, I'll take the credit for that, so today's training It will be one kilometer. easy like a warm up three under three three flat 305 something like that then we'll do 12 percents in sets of four four four four so we'll start around 68 and we'll lower it depending on how we feel and then we'll finish with 1k also very relaxed 255 3 floors something So the idea of the training is for me because I just came in yesterday to move my legs flush and feel good, so that's very simple and the t-shirts that we are going to make a couple with that shirt, a couple with normal shirts and then a couple with, actually, just like that we have different videos and stuff.

Oh, for training, I actually felt much better than I expected. I had a long flight, it's around 24 hours, a little more. getting to Kenya from Denver, Colorado, so you're definitely super tired when you get there, but I felt really good and the idea was to do a very simple workout, something easy, something progressive, something that I felt depending on how my body was and I. I felt really good, so it's always difficult because not only are you going up to a higher altitude, but you're very tired from the trip, so you always expect to feel tired.
I think I was very excited to get back to training with the guys. I felt great. Kipchoge Stadium is actually named after Kipchoge Kano, not Eliot Kipchoge as is commonly believed. Kano is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and was basically the godfather of the rise of Kenyan dominance in middle and long distance running. It has been three years since the county government began renovating the stadium while some workers are seen here. The project is virtually stalled and people are losing faith that it will ever be completed. The national government has promised to provide funding to help complete it, but project managers have been waiting. the promise will be fulfilled from 2019.
Elliott has since been involved to help complete this project, giving it a stadium namesake and the North Rift region of Kenya does not have a single stadium suitable for events despite being the home of the Fortunately , the country's best ambassadors, athletes can still use the track to train on any day. You can find elite runners from all over the world training here, including Elliott himself. Other runners told us that he is very friendly to those who try to see him training. I even heard that he doesn't mind if they try to join him in training as long as you don't interfere, good luck keeping up, although keeping up with these guys even on a bike is no joke.
I'm doing Olympic caliber training on a bike while holding a four kilogram or eight pound camera while on an overseas training trip like this one in Kenya or others to Colombia, we always find a bike to film, however the state Of these bikes it is very variable, this one ran only in the highest gear which was useful at cruising speed but it was tricky to get started you have to take what you can and I was grateful we found one to take these shots so I really wanted doing this training with all the guys because they were going to help me with the campers, but then I had to choose some of those guys to help me with my own training, but I needed to see where their fitness was and during this training I realized than some of the guys who say half the guys weren't in good shape or weren't ready to help me pace myself and I like pace in my workouts.
I was very happy with the way we closed training, we're finishing at 63, which is not crazy at all. I want to go too fast because you don't want to pull a muscle or something, but fast enough and then the 1k was also fast enough so I was really happy with this workout. Yeah, I feel really good, so it was really nice. Well, we did a training today but it was good, it was very nice, this is the beginning of our program and I hope everything goes well. I just finished 1k 12 400 1k with boopkins, being comf

ble with the three 257 and 253 for that matter and then. the 400 started in 68 67 finished in 63.
Very good first day here. I just got here yesterday, so I was supposed to be tired today, but I feel pretty good, pretty comfortable. This week is going to be a little easy because I'm I'll be at camp helping everyone. I'm going to train but I'm going to work really hard, so today was a good last session before that week and then a month of hard work after that, so I feel good, pretty good, the first day, how? What the team did was good so seven of the guys ran with me today, some of them will be hanging around camp so they're good at that and then I definitely need to put together a pretty solid team that can help me but today was one good day, now I know who is who, who is fit and who is not, and from there I can make decisions, so this is an amazing first day, good day, waiting for another amazing mind like this.
No, you've been to this track before, right, no, oh, it's your first time, first time, yeah, did you live up to the hype? uh, it's nice, it's good, you know, it reminds me of Piper's because I think it's the same altitude or very similar. and uh, whatever it's called, it's the same, the same type of surface as that bouncing one, so it's pretty good, I like it, I think this stadium will look good once it's done, but right now it's a mess, it's great, we can see it before, yeah. I'm sure we will. Something I really like about Kenyans and Africa in general is that Kenyans are super friendly.
How are you? I'm fine, my friend, what's your name? I'm Nate Nate Nate yes, nice to meet you April uh united states america america yes my name is nate I'm Nicholas Nicholas nice to meet you hey what's your name oliver oliver nice to meet you how's it going okay let's appear on this camera maybe yes I have Let's record it, thank you, we will be happy in this, for sure, yes, YouTube video, yes, the funny thing is that when they put the traffic lights we had a lot of accidents, that's the funny thing and this is not now, it's more efficient like this, like this, yes, we're fine like this , so you said they used to be. there, but they removed it like it doesn't work here, so you know, the thing is, maybe it's clear and it shows red on this side, so the guy decides to leave without looking and then the guy coming from that side sees that It's green so it just comes really fast and this guy sits red but there's no kai that's the ghost you are so this is the 7th time I've come to Kenya and the last two trips I noticed I wanted to share this experience with other runners.
I wanted to share it. with my athletes I wanted to share it with recreational runners, amateur runners and everyone else, so I decided to create a company called running mecca. running mecca is under the umbrella of my Olympic coach, which is my main company and the idea is to bring people. to Kenya, show them around, show them the experience of training with Kenyans and spend a full week immersed in Kenyan culture first. I want to thank everyone, pacers campers, thank you very much for being here today, thank you for being part of this team. For being a part of this camp, I appreciate it.
This is a dream come true for me, so I am very grateful to every individual here who trains every day, but also does many other activities, such as going on safari, meeting their families and just passing by. I think the time in Iten and Kenya is an eye-opening, life-changing experience for everyone and it was. We'll eventually have a bonus episode where you guys can see how the campers live that week, but later. For now we will focus on my training and I will focus on how I got in great shape while I was in Kenya. Thank you for watching another training episode in Kenya with Luis Orta.
