Run to Dollar Tree!!! DIY's You Seriously HAVE To Try!

Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel. In today's video we are DIYing Dollar Tree for my first project. I picked up a pot from Dollar Tree. I'll also use some nautical rope I had on hand and don't worry. I will link all the supplies I used in the description box, so with my planter I wanted to hot glue my nautical rope to create an x ​​on my planter, so I figured out how much time I needed to cut the pieces. and then I cut several pieces that were going to be the same length. I hot glued the nautical rope in one direction to my planter.

I went back and hot glued in the other direction with pieces I had cut out once I had all the x's done. I decided to add some handles too, so I hot glued them to each side of my planter, so this is where the fun part comes in. I grabbed some quick cement from Lowe's and I'm going to use it to make this pot look like concrete so you can I'm going to take your quikrete and mix it with a little bit of water. I normally like the consistency of my quikrete to be a bit like pudding, but I wanted it to be a little thinner so I could use it to paint all of this. pot, but the good thing is that if it's too runny you can add more quikrete and if it's too thick just add more water, so next I'm going to grab a foam brush.

Dollar Tree has been coming out lately with different versions of their home decor in brown tone, so they have these 11 by 14 frames that normally come with a black frame and now they sell them with the brown frame, so I grabbed two of them, then I went to etsy and found two prints. which I loved and thought they were adorable, I bought the prints, they were pretty affordable because they were the type you print yourself, then I uploaded them to the Walgreens website and used one of the Walgreens coupon codes to purchase them, so I went to Walgreens.

They are usually ready within an hour for pickup. I'm going to remove the backing from my 11 by 14 frame and use it to trace around my print. I will cut out my print and add it to the frames. I think they look like this. Great, in a group of two, I'm going to create another pot using that green pot, but it will look totally different than the first one we made. Dollar Tree also sells these pieces of wood, so I'll take them out and measure them. I want four pieces that are two inches long, so I'm going to use my saw and cut those pieces out.

You've probably seen the pots that have little wooden bases, that's what I'm trying to recreate, so I'm going to use some e6000 and hot glue to attach those wooden pieces to the bottom of my green container, you can fill this pot with any fake or real plants you like, if you like watching home hack videos, be sure to press thumbs up. button, so I know I should do more things like this in the future. This next project is a little out there, but stay with me because I think it turned out really well, so I grabbed one of the clear trays they have at Dollar Tree.

I've used this on many different projects before and really love the shape of it. I then painted it with navy blue spray paint. I'm going to recycle here with corkscrews, so if you have some corkscrews on hand. use them. I'm also going to grab some twine that I already had on hand. I'm going to hot glue the twine to the bottom of my corkscrew to make fun little patterns. Now I didn't know exactly what I wanted this to look like. So one I put together tightly, the next I spaced out and made a foreign spiral. I will put wavy white chalk paint on a piece of paper and then dip my two thread stamps into the paint.

I'll place it on a sheet of scrap paper to see what it will look like. I decided I wanted the one that was more spread out like a spiral for my template. Then I'll just add the template to my blue tray. Now, some tips: You want to make sure you have enough paint on your stencil, but not too much, so once you dip it in the paint, make a test stamp on a small piece of paper on the side to make sure it will look good too . I want to make sure to add paint frequently now, the nice thing is that if you put this in and it doesn't have as much paint, you can always add more by doing the stamp twice and I just added the stamps until I was happy. with it oh you can use it as a kind of wall art backing piece or an actual tray to sit on now the next DIY is like a two part DIY.

I had this piece of wood slab that I wanted to create an elevator with. So I also found these hexagon beads on Amazon and I'm going to hot glue four of them to the bottom of my wood piece. Now this created a very nice elevator for me. Now on top of the riser I wanted to add some fun jars. That would look cute this spring, so you can get these jars at Dollar Tree. These two jars I had were actually from a thrift store. I'm going to use a spray paint called Krylon Sea Glass and I have one that's like green. color but I also have an amber color, you guys are watching me try out one of my new favorite products, which is this little twist style that I bought for spray painting.

I love this for spray painting when it's cold outside because I can turn it around while I'm spray painting and spray it, but then it has handles on the bottom so I can pick it up and take it inside to dry because you know you can't leave things outside when it's not warm enough. to dry so I'll link this product in the description box but I think I'm going to buy a couple more of these because you guys know I'm spray painting all the time so I applied a light coat of spray paint. Next, in both jars I have this piece of flexible wood that I'm also going to attach for you and that I'm going to cut out and make a little base on the bottom, so I made sure I had enough to go over the top of the other one. piece of wood maybe like a couple of centimeters then I'll add some e6000 to the back of these pieces.

I'm also going to hot glue it to stay in place and wrap it around the bottom edge. This is how these vases turned out with my wooden riser. This next project is something I really wanted to try, but I haven't been doing it, I don't know why, it felt like it was out of my reach. comfort zone, I thought: you know what I'm going to try? I think I can do it, so I've been looking at all these different canvases on the Pottery Barn website and high end websites and I think I could create them as I could. make that canvas, so that's what we're going to do for this project. I think one of the best places to buy a canvas is to buy it below if you want a larger one like Dollar Tree the largest they have is an eight by ten they have a thinner one that is a little bigger but the one I'm going to use it's in a two pack of 16 by 20 and I get it for five less for five bucks so I think it's a good deal about 250 per canvas so I started with my inspiration images so I found this image from Pottery Barn that I printed and that is what I will use to try to recreate my canvas.

From then on, I chose a color palette and placed a few. blues, whites, creams, tans, blacks, colors I had to start with. I also picked out my brushes so I just had a bunch of different styles of brushes to use. I had a foam brush. I had a little bit of water because I knew I was going to need to mix. The paints with water and then I also had a wet paper towel so I started by mixing my white paint and I wasn't really worried. I had some chalk paint, some acrylic. I really wasn't worried about the type of paint it was on.

Using maybe should have been the next one, I mixed the beige and white color and added it to the top. I had four different portions that I needed to create as a base layer, then I mixed some blue with white until I was happy. the color of that, that's what I love about mixing paints is that you can really add to them until you get the color you want. I'm going to put it under the beige color, then I added some blue and gray and I realized that it was a pretty dark color so I decided to add it to the bottom and then I came back later and added another blue color to the middle part.

From there I needed to add some dimension so I mixed some browns and blacks to create them. Lines going through the painting I also added, you know, black and white and just tan colors to give it a little more dimension and then from there I went back and mixed the colors and tried to make them mesh. It is best that together you continue adding and creating until you are satisfied with the result. This is a project that can definitely be built. Once I was happy with it, I let it dry and then created a frame by 1 by 2 board, so I found a long board I had in my garage and cut it up so I could create a nice frame that was around 16 by 20.

I used my nail gun to nail them, then stained the wood pieces and this is what this canvas looks like. Turns out I'm really proud of it, if you're someone who's hesitant to do something like this, do it because I honestly did it better than I thought, so this next project was kind of fun, I honestly thought. about taking it out of the video, but I thought no, I'll leave it there and tell you the different steps I did and what didn't work and what worked well, so I wanted to make a bubble painting. The technique is fine, so I started.

I had a tub of water, I added dish soap and some tempera paint that was green. What I was trying to do was create this bubble look on this little plate like it was a little jewelry plate. so I put the tempur paint and the bubbles in the container, mixed them together, then went in with a straw and blew a bunch of bubbles in there to make it look really bubbly, so to test it I grabbed a piece of white cardstock and put it in. that on the bubbles, well when I picked it up there just wasn't enough paint, it didn't work well, so I thought, "Okay, this technique isn't going to look good to give me bubbles, so it was really a bust, so my next test ".

I saved the water so I knew it was going toneed some water and then I put some paint on my table and then I got a sponge so I dipped it in water then dipped it in paint and tried it. and I thought, well, I like the look of this with paint, water and a sponge, and then I took the plate that I had and started rubbing it on the plate. As I was doing this I noticed some of the water was kind of hitting the plate because it wasn't a level plate so I had to move it and scrub it again and while it was drying I went in and scrubbed it some more.

I think this technique really worked. turn out well because I was able to get the sponge look I was looking for for my plate. Oh and the plate I used, by the way, is a white plate from Dollar Tree and once it was completely dry I used a silver paint pen along the edges to just give it a finishing touch and that's how this little one turned out jewelry tray.
