1951 Chevy Running board update

update

on the desktop garage. We have the stirrups practically finished. I'm going to make a panel. I'm going to make a bed. I'm going to make a panel that goes down. I'm going to put some sheet metal here and make a panel that goes down here and just hangs off of it about 1/4 inch in case it bends, some of it will flex, bend around that and go right there, which you will see. When I'm done it will be pretty good to work on the bumper, I already did a little bit on the bumper. Hmm, I have a little more of this finished battery.

I think I showed you that I have the pump tube all the way up. to go to the carbs that I bought, I made myself some paper templates, this type of card

or PO cardstock, the paper is thick, cardstock type, uh, it's not super thick, but it's thicker than normal paper, so these They are my templates. will go this will go under there and if I'm doing off uh yeah I'm and this piece right here is going to go on the front like this all the way around, but if I do um if I do uh, make it 18 gauge or I'm going to do it with a stage Pretty thick, probably 18 gauge, that way it won't flex.

I'm going to tack weld it from the bottom side and then I'm going to Get me a flat bar. I don't know if I have any flat bars, but I'm going to get a flat bar. Probably a half inch flat bar and I'm going to place it on top. to give it some grooves um, where are those others? I don't know what I did with those stirrups, those other stirrups, but I'm going to put some grooves on top of the, on top, I'm looking. for a piece, but I don't have it anyway, but it's basically like this, it's like a half inch steel bar, a steel bar, a flat steel bar, and I'm going to run it along.

I'm going to put it here. so I'm going to put several along it like this and I'm going to go through it so that it imitates uh I'll show you I think it's here I'll imitate the originals I cried, I don't know what I did with it anyway, oh well, you'll see when I finished it, I'll show it to you, but I don't know what I did, what I did with them, the originals. the short ones, but I'm sure they saw it, but anyway, my God, I hit them. I beat them up myself, but anyway, working on the bumper, the bumper is great.

I took it all apart and I'll show it. For you, I took it all apart and cleaned it well, but I sanded it and tried to smooth it out, tried to get all the rust off. These pieces I beat, I beat them with a wire brush, a wire wheel to remove everything. clean and uh let's see oh and the other pieces that go with it I um put them somewhere I keep misplacing things and I don't know why I do that but um I've misplaced them oh here they are here are the other pieces now can you tell the difference between these two, obviously this one had this piece here, it still has most of the Chrome in it, although it's opaque and it has most of the Chrome in it.

This piece was missing almost all of the Chrome. There's a little bit here from here. up there, uh, the rest was just chopped metal, but I painted it to try to mimic this piece instead of just being Rusty, so anyway I've got that and a few more things I have to do before I can get started. so I have to figure this out, but anyway I'm just giving you a quick

update

on the truck we're in, I've got my wheels and tires, y'all saw it, even though I'm sure you didn't. I don't remember if I told everyone in the previous video or not, but anyway there's that so we're getting uh it's looking good.

I'm going to have to lower the front about 2 inches. I'm going to Tomen, I may have told you this. I'm going to remove that. I'll remove the front wheels. I'm going to take out the springs and cut them. Put them on to see if it works. If that doesn't work, then uh. I'll get some coilovers that will lower it or drop the axle but you can say it's too high for me anyway, it has to be lower for me so also it's too high in the front compared to the back but I'm sure it will stabilize a little more once I drive it but I'm going to go ahead and lower it probably at least 2 on that's the plan so anyway that's the update as of today and we will have a little more.
