A Beginner's Guide To Sonic the Hedgehog

Apr 05, 2024
If you haven't noticed yet, there's something that should be pretty obvious about me and that's that I'm a huge fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, even if you haven't seen my multiple disses about this series that I did, which are of course not It's almost the last one I'll do, please watch, you still won't instantly notice my love for the series based on my channel's mascot, my intro music, everything but one thing I've been thinking about a lot recently. how with Sonic's reputation a bit on the rise with the success of Sonic Mania and the recent theatrical movie and the decline of society as we know it, it actually seems like more people who were previously reluctant to touch Sonic media are interested into diving into maybe even for the first time and when that happens, the inevitable question I get asked quite often is actually simple, where do I start?

Honestly, while Sonic 1 seems like the obvious answer, I wouldn't feel comfortable being so quick to jump into it. the only solution, after all, Sonic the

has so many different incarnations, properties and media, it means something different to every fan and because of that and the sheer volume of material surrounding it, it can be an imposing idea to enter its world completely blind. to his story, that's why I thought I'd make a little

guide

to Sonic the Hedgehog, so first we'll talk about the main medium that Sonic resides in. In painting and old folk games, we're talking about video games, Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis released in 1991 is the most important starting point you could hope to start from.
a beginner s guide to sonic the hedgehog
It's the game that started it all, after all, it introduces us to our main icons. of the series for which every continuity would inevitably be molded around that

sonic

being, the eccentric fun-loving teenage vagabond with a penchant for adventure and pranks and a hatred for oppression and cruelty and dr. eggman, also known in the western regions until 1999 as dr robotnik. Look, I know, don't add me to a manic, selfish scientist eager to impose a mechanical empire on the peaceful wilderness around him by capturing and forcing small animals to do his bidding as robotic slave workers. There's definitely an environmentalist undertone throughout.
a beginner s guide to sonic the hedgehog
In the game, Sonic travels through a handful of stages, from the lush vegetation of the Green Hills Zone to the industrial nightmare known as the Scrap Brain Zone, this is obviously the first of the series. series, so while it's the perfect starting point for purists. It's also mechanically one of the weaker early titles despite not being bad. Sonic the hedgehog really reaches his peak in his first level, where he takes advantage of Sonic's core appeal, his unique physics-based movement, and his sense of speed which he can gain through skillful traversal of the green hills area of the terrain.
The level is like a psychedelic jungle gym, and while we may be tired of seeing it repeated all the time in recent games, there's a reason it's so iconic to begin with: it might be one of the most important introductory levels in video. However, the story of the game, after that exciting ride is over, the rest of the game just drags down, there is never any sense of speed or excitement after this, but the game struggles to find a lasting energy for its own identity in instead of playing it safe. more traditional platforming challenges and, as a result, takes the core appeal of Sonic and strips it down to a lot of awkward platforming and changes of pace.
Being close to Sonic 1 is a good first game in a franchise, but that franchise would only continue to get better from this point. but it's obviously the first and therefore least focused of its kind, at least since scallop, arguably a better place to start would probably be sonic the hedgehog 2 released in 1992, which not only features sonic's sidekick, the two-tailed fox, thousands such prower and adds the iconic spin dash to Sonic's moveset, but honestly, it's probably the purest distillation of the core appeal of a classic Sonic platformer into a single product, obviously You could argue that the later sequels further elaborated on Sonic 2's strengths, but if you wanted to play it's a simple, easy game to pick up. sonic game that concentrates everything related to the series in one place, you will want to start with this one.
There's a reason why many kids' first sonic experience was Sonic 2. The feeling of thrilling speed and momentum-based platforming physics is back. on full display here and is even more proud than ever because the level design has seen some drastic revisions from Sonic 1. and Sonic's speed limit has been significantly reduced, although structurally they may look similar, they have less traditional platform designs, focusing instead on type. of unique terrain that made Sonic so fun to control in Green Hill Zone if Sonic 1 was a showcase for a budding concept, Sonic 2 is the fulfillment of its promise and absolutely nailed the landing, the special stages to grab the emeralds of chaos are the It's kind of trial and error and pain in the butt, but at most you miss out on a slightly cosmetically different ending and the ability to play as Supersonic, another new addition to this game that's admittedly pretty badass ultimately though missing out on the emeralds isn't even close. to a deal breaker and all of this combined makes Sonic 2 a near perfect starting point on the gameplay side of things.
Sonic the hedgehog 3, so Knuckles is probably where a lot of people would insist you start and I don't think it's a bad choice. either way, but be prepared if you decide to take this one on instead of two because they are going to test you. Sonic 3 is the most expansive and expansive 2D Sonic game of its time, and ambition is tattooed on its soul. incredibly dense with a veritable load of stages that put the list of two other stages in the game to shame, the platforming challenges are varied and exciting elemental shields add more to the minute-by-minute action of using Sonic's moveset to your advantage, making the tails and knuckles playable adds all new dimensions to the game's play style and god the dialogue free visual storytelling in this game is chef's kiss okay the hand emoji sonic 3 and k is commonly Considered the best game in the series by many people for a very good reason: it is a very good culmination. everything good about what came before was refined into something truly special and appropriately epic in scope, which I think might be a little intimidating about this game as an entry point;
However, it depends on how confident you feel in your ability to adapt to classic Sonic gameplay. If you need time to learn the ropes, I think Sonic 2 is your best bet to get your feet on the shallow side; However, if you already have experience with platform games and think that you can decently understand the concepts that are presented in front of you fairly quickly, then Sonic 3 and k is one of the highest levels of the series' prestige and whether you whether your entry points to the franchise or not, it's an absolutely essential work, okay, let's cover some middle ground now real quick before moving on to the next important point, Sonic. cd, this should be your start.
The short answer is probably not, although I like it. The longer answer is this: Sonic CD is kind of a weird hybrid of the design sensibilities of Sonic 1 and 2. Being a developmental intermediary between them. I put Sonic CD on a course for black sheep syndrome from the moment it was designated as the title for the ill-fated Sega CD add-on in Genesis, does this mean that Sonic CD itself is bad? Well, it depends on who you ask, but I tend to think that no Sonic CD is still a perfectly fun game in itself with a lot of stylistic value worth appreciating, especially with its animated intro and ending scenes and soundtracks. eclectic atmospheric duals for the respective region's releases, making Sonic CD a strange beast.
Tame for a newcomer, however, aside from its slightly more marginal darkness is its design, the levels are often quite labyrinthine for a Sonic title and while I definitely say it allows for more high-speed action than, say, Sonic 1 , is not as focused and sharp as Sonic 2 and that, in combination with its somewhat clunky and awkward time travel mechanics, makes for a game that, in addition to being stylish and charming, is a lot for a newcomer to probably take in. adequately, but perhaps with a little more experience. To its credit, Sonic 3D Blast is simply a straight product and not from the beginning, it is the last of the main Genesis line and development was outsourced by the Sonic team to Travelers Tales, who, to their credit, have done some Pretty good things in the past.
The game is kind of a product of its awkward place in time, to be honest, it's not a 3D Sonic game that attempts to capitalize on its fanbase's enthusiasm for seeing Sonic make the leap into the third dimension that Super Mario was already enjoying it on the n64, what resulted was an awkward, slow bird collecting game and an isometric view that, while not the most defensive video game out there, certainly lacks what makes a sound game very good or interesting, this is not the worst the series has to offer. means, but it's not worth being your introduction to the series and it's something I think is worth considering as a pass for newcomers if you're the type of person who values a real 3D game and not just a fake one that carries an inappropriate name.
Up your sleeve, now it's time to talk about Sonic Adventure released in 1998 for the Sega Dreamcast or more commonly the Gamecube Steam, whatever, in addition to being the first 3D Sonic game, this is also the first game to started the modern incarnation of the franchise led by Yuji. Uekawa's gorgeously graffiti-inspired character redesigns, if you're not looking to start with the classic cheesy sound and want to find where all the butt is, this is where you'll find it, the adventure is still one of my favorite games. series, but for newcomers, I will admit that it is a little inscrutable and difficult to understand the game, it has like six playable characters with their own semi-unique play styles and, although each of them has a tutorial that you can read through of nature itself.
Sonic Adventure as a game is a kind of patchwork quilt that runs a high risk of tearing if you shake it too much. Sonic stages are easily some of my favorite 3D sonic content, but a cross section is a little harder to understand. supporting characters, cheesy '90s voice acting and stilted scene presentation make the sound adventure a little less timeless than its 16-bit counterparts. It's a good first entry into the series, but it's something I'd take some caution with if you need to adjust it more gradually if necessary. a more detailed dive into the game and my thoughts on it.
In fact, I also have a whole essay on him in my video portfolio. Shameless plug Shameless plug but enough backtracking, let's move on to a title that probably needs no introduction. Sonic Adventure 2 released on the Dreamcast in 2001 on Sonic's 10th anniversary, although most kids would end up playing the Battle Port for Gamecube and then the game would be ported back to HD consoles and Steam Sonic Adventure 2 is easily one of the most dramatic plots in the history of the series. introductory point to the fan favorite, Shadow the Hedgehog, and features three styles of play divided into two different story campaigns and teams of characters that come together at the end for a final story segment.
The game also includes an incredible amount of additional content including the very popular Chow Garden, which while present in the previous game, is much more developed and mechanically dense here than there. Some people play this game just for these things. I personally prefer it among the main campaign levels, but I understand the appeal they have. so damn cute Sonic Adventure 2 is much more streamlined in the gameplay department than Sa1 and shows, from its slightly more linear level design to its elegant and overwhelming sense of style, that it remains one of the most beloved games in the history of the franchise despite more. newly divisive opinions in the era ofThe Internet, and while I'd say the characters may not be as immediately established newcomers as they would be in a previous title, this served as an entry point for a lot of kids I knew growing up, many of whom went on.
In years after being dedicated Sonic fans, all that said, it might even be a better entry point than Essay 1, although its level of quality compared to its predecessor is still something of a battleground for various factions of fans if my almost hour long essay done a year after the background didn't make it clear yeah well there you go regardless if you want to know what 3d sonic is all about you can't go wrong with sa2 sonic heroes could be the antithetical answer to I'm afraid density might turn people away from adventure 1 or 2. While at first it may seem even more hectic than ever having 12 playable characters, the heroes gimmick groups them all into three and each team has more or less the same mechanics.
Playing style, if not slightly different objectives or difficulty levels. Sonic Heroes was the first 3D Sonic game which marked the beginning of Sonic's existence in the post-Sega console market and was therefore the first cross-platform mainline Sonic game to be released on PS2. xboxy PC, the teams are made up of a speed type for sonic-style platforming, a flight type for slightly slower, mid-air traversal with guided shots, and a power type that is not as agile as the speed type on land, but it makes up for it in rough. The destructive force eats my delay. Each level is basically set up like a typical 3D sonic stage, only the challenges you'll have to overcome will test your ability to use each team member efficiently.
Sonic Heroes is one of those games in the series that has a bit of competition. In terms of quality, but overall I see the reception of the game as positive and I know quite a few people whose first Sonic game was this. In fact, I've come to enjoy it a lot more than I used to in recent years. To be completely honest, all of this combined with the fact that the story is extremely simple despite having a lot of dialogue between the characters, also makes the heroes a really convenient place for newcomers to interact with the characters. and see what their personalities are like and how they bounce. between us in relationships is obviously nothing Oscar-worthy, but it's a compact, fun story that communicates decently well even to a sonically virgin audience.
Oh, I shouldn't have said it like that and that combined with decently fun gameplay and unique team mechanics. makes this a great entry point for 3D fans which is not a great entry point however for 3D fans it's Shadow the hedgehog this game has been meme to death and honestly there is a litany of reasons I could explain why, but I think I may one day do so more completely, so I'll bite my tongue for the most part right now. What you need to know about why you should avoid this as a serious newcomer; However, it's pretty simple that this game wasn't made for you, it's an incredibly isolated request fulfillment piece for a fanbase rabid for new shadow content that proved divisive.
I tend to think the story is a huge waste of potential that ultimately says and does little or nothing at all and the branching system is incredibly shallow. The gameplay. is constantly fighting its own design sensibilities with enemy ambush missions and tedious, repetitive gameplay that's only made more unforgivable by the horribly ugly environment, oh god, that repulsively bad voice acting, and the insanity-inducing requirements for Play each variant path to unlock the final story. segment, the only forgivable aspects for me are, once again, the great soundtrack and the kind of confusing joy I get from the dark path mission that orders you to kill the president.
It's a terrible experience from start to finish, in other words, and I can't. I recommend it enough that you, as a newcomer to the franchise, even a veteran, should avoid it like the plague unless you want a good laugh. I mean, it's good to talk about avoiding things like the plague. Sonic 06 exists, what a good shot. This is the year of our lord 2020, yes I am unique. We all know at this point that Sonico 6 is the most reviled, loathed, and mocked part of this franchise. We all know that it was half baked in the oven and taken out while it was soft. abandoned to the tides of time presented on the thanksgiving dinner table as a slightly disassembled, structurally flimsy, dust-tasting nightmare, we all know that Sonic kisses a human princess, we know, we know, we know, I don't need to tell you that the presentation is bad, that the art style is amazing, or that Sonic can exist at the same time as a photorealistic dog for some reason.
I don't need to tell you that there are more plot contrivances and logical flaws than a fictional fanatic doctor and all. Even the occasionally decent level design is hampered by a game so riddled with mechanical glitches, stiff controls and strange glitches, that the voice acting is somehow even worse than Hedgehogs' Shadow and stands as the pinnacle of bad performance. in this series story of already controversial voice work literally. left a bug in the finished game. None of this is something you probably don't know. Sonic 06 exists now as something of a stain on the franchise's legacy, but it also marks the lowest point at which Sega would at least realize that it needs to return from what it is now, still something of a studio. interesting nature of what happens when uninhibited ambition meets crisis of production and the result is a broken mess of a weak foundation trying to hold a castle on its cracked ground. train accident, but it's a beautiful thing that the train tried so hard anyway, don't make this your first sound experience, save it for when you're deep enough to appreciate its baffling persistence and having existed, it's also better than the However, hedgehog hot take's ambition can take you pretty far and Sonic Unleashed is proof enough that it can pull you out of the hole and back into the light in the first of what most fans call the impulse games that Sonic has developed more recently.
Prone to Sonic Unleashed sees Sonic on a decently simple but still epic globe-trotting adventure to rebuild the broken planet that Eggman broke up to free an all-powerful supernatural demon god that looks straight out of Bloodborne. This is also the game that the pig man. it's coming from yes get your jokes out of your system now yes he's a furry he's a big bear please don't do that google search okay now that you're done with that let's be smart sonic unleashed is pretty good , actually I'm sure the pigman is. It's the most fun style of sonic gameplay out there, but even if it's a little repetitive, it's certainly not nearly terrible and the day stages are just as sonic, if perhaps a little less substantial than most would prefer outside of the game's design. sonic levels, it's still hell. exciting ride, however I would recommend this as a first entry, probably not honestly, although I really like Sonic Unleashed, it's easily the most challenging boost game in the lineup despite being the first of its kind and that kind of level of trial and error difficulty. new players combined with a slightly slower werepig, I think it would be a pretty miserable starting point, even if on its own I quite like the game, save it for later, but don't necessarily skip it, just keep it in your pocket butt in that opening.
The cutscene is disgusting, although what's probably a better way to immerse yourself in impulse gameplay is another game I've seen newcomers flock to as the first of their sonic journey, which is the sonic colors of the 2010s for the Nintendo Wii with a much simpler plot than usual, decently written. by two guys who claim to know nothing about Sonic, the game follows Sonic and Tails trying to stop Eggman from enslaving cute aliens with color powers called Wisps to power his intergalactic amusement park. The sonic colors are quite lovely, stylistically it has a spectacular soundtrack and although it is a bit short.
It plays primarily as a game that only contains the best aspects of Unleashed with less cheap death involved in hindsight, however it does contain a lot of stiff, fake 2D platforming and I think this is easily the weakest area where the color suffers. if we discount Pontak's. writing from the equation is the definition of a safe sonic game and so it can be a great place to start if you are the type that prefers to approach the current lineup, tread carefully, but at the end of the day if this is your choice , it's good enough to go with Sonic 4, on the other hand, oh no, this is where safe just turns bad in essence, it's not the most offensively bad game out there by any means, but both editions of this episode They return to that form.
The Sonic team tried to make, leaves a lot to be desired, places of lazy level design that do nothing more than cradle the strongest 2D Sonic titles and truly horrible recreations of their respective physics, and you have some of the Sonic games with a greater sense of autopilot. all the time, not to mention the bland plastic graphical style, the kind of strange lack of dedication to classic aesthetics, and some horribly bad genesis synth recreations for the soundtrack, uh, Sonic Generations, on the other hand, is everything Sonic 4 I wanted it to be while I was writing. remains as mediocre as ever, the plot barely matters in the face of one of the most charming and well-executed 3D games in the franchise, which prides itself on the series' highs and lows like a badge of honor and relies on the familiarity and affection it every part has to offer I would say that much of the nostalgic appeal of the game will obviously be lost on newcomers due to their lack of familiarity with the content being referenced, but as a selection sample of what they will love. about the blue hedgehog, from a semi-recreation of a 2D sonic game to a more expansive and exciting sonic game, is an extremely successful attempt to pack as much high-octane joy as possible into a big anniversary title, a point of fair, safe and quality departure. very good, but as far as nostalgia goes, it's only fair that we take a step back.
There are still other anti-recommendations I must offer, but I'd like to take a moment to say that the Sonic Advance games, yes, they were pretty. To be honest, it's worth mentioning because even now that the gba library is much more overlooked, these are still excellent titles in their own right and excellent gateways into 2D sonic gaming for newcomers, with a few features of their own extras, just in case. The first Sonic Advance is a little rough around the edges, but it's still an excellent display of versatility for Nintendo's handheld. Sonic Advance 2 is probably my favorite of the trilogy, with an emphasis on breakneck speed that really ramps up combined with creative racer bosses that some people really hate.
To be honest, I don't really care for them, I think they're cool, although the special stages are a bit risqué. Sonic Advance 3 is a bit divisive, however, featuring team mechanics that were mixed into its core receiving worlds that feel bland and intrusive and questionable level design at times, particularly with frustrating enemy placement and a large number of bottomless pits, although it has a lot of charm, from the many creative boss encounters to the unique lackey eggman gemmerl j jim l g g merle murr still Probably not a good first game to pick up another one and put in your pocket.
However, this was the last game to feature voice clips from the original voice cast from Sonic Adventure onwards and the last proper appearance by the wonderful Dean Bristo as Dr. Eggman before he unfortunately passed away. It's a fun time, if not in terms of gameplay, then at least for the memories it triggers. Okay, time to be critical again. We have been very happy for a few minutes. Here this is a sound video which is not what people want if YouTube. The algorithm has told me anything, it's that Sonic is bad, give me views, so instead of criticizing the games I really love, let me present a good reason why I think several others from this period would be bad.
First forays into the colorful world of cartoons. Now I maintain. Note that not all of these are even bad games in my opinion, but for one reason or another I don't find them particularly newbie-friendly, it's best to save them for later if they're touched on at all. Sonic Lost Worldprobably one of them. one of the least genuinely offensive on this list because Lost World itself isn't that horrible of a game on its own, it has some interesting mechanics, if a little undercooked and poorly explained, and the levels can be a bit of fun if you know what to do.
Wait, though. What's so strange about its placement in the Sonic franchise is that it hardly feels like a Sonic game, the platforming for one is intensely slower than usual, even without taking into account the fact that this game gives sonic a run button, its physics is a bit heavy overall, to be honest i never really felt satisfied or in much control when trying to get sonic to jump in this game, it always feels like a struggle to get him to jump. taking off and taking off from the ground, the returning color powers are also pretty useless and the whole game just radiates this kind of lonely stubbornness and trying anything remotely new at its most outlandish feels like a messy science experiment that doesn't really taste very good. well what it wants to be and when it plays it safe it feels more like a Mario game than a Sonic game and not even the best Mario game and I didn't even come to a Sonic game to play a Mario game either , so you know, the writing is also just atrocious, the story is average and typical and barely goes anywhere, the dialogue is groan-inducing and it really becomes more evident than ever that Pontac has no idea how he's supposed to What are these characters?
Beyond quick ads and internet stereotypes, you could do a lot worse for a first Sonic game, but this is one you really should be. looking for better alternatives to if you can help him, knuckles chaotix, oh boy now we're getting to more specialized stuff, this is a game for the ill-fated Sega Genesis add-on 32x starring Knuckles in the lead role along with the chaotix, a group of characters who debuted here and would later appear without the mighty armadillo and the sonic heroes, rest easy, poor, sweet bastard. It's a really beautiful game with a great soundtrack and gameplay superficially similar to most classic sonic games, but unfortunately the greatest.
The problem is that it's a boring ring-holding mechanic that this game tried to set itself apart with and ended up becoming so cumbersome in the left-to-right progress stages due to its tendency to bounce and bump into things that the stages became huge over time. bottom up. gauntlets with barely any real enemies or dangers to deal with What you get as a result is a game that is actually very long and has almost nothing to do for the most part, plus it's not even a game that features Sonic as a playable character, so Which again, dale Anyway, the same sense of frustration and lack of substance carries over quite well to most 8-bit sound titles with the Game Gear Master system releases of Sonic 1 and 2 being generally forgettable when not taxed. .
The 8-bit incarnation of Sonic 1 is better than Sonic 2. I'll give it that, but it's still nowhere near the level of its 16-bit original. While Bridge Zone is a great song, Sonic 2 in particular features a lot of cheap bs waiting to kill you, especially compounded by the terrible screen crunch in the Game Gear versions, if for some reason you ever want to play them I would eventually recommend it. The master system is launched first as it has a better screen size and can obviously represent a larger field of view and minimize the annoyance factor. Just stick with the genesis titles instead of these probably sonic chaos on the game team, it's quite the opposite, however, in fact, this game is so easy that you will have no problem completing it in record time.
Hunting for emeralds adds a bit more challenge, but it's really nothing particularly daunting. This would be a good first sound game maybe for babies, but not for adults. Players' triple trouble is, well, it's a little better than chaos, but it comes with some frustrating design choices and undercooked tricks. Anyway, it's probably the best of the Game Gear series, so it's not a bad game by any means. Less than stellar spin-off material like Sonic Labyrinth, a top-down puzzle platformer that is, uh, Sonic Blast. I tried to get back on track with a 2D platformer, but combined with a terrible collision and these horrible, ugly fake 3D sprites, it's just not a good time.
Total waste of your precious mental resources. Tails Sky Patrol and Tails Adventure are both pretty good in their own right, one is a sort of 2D on-rails shooter and the latter is a pretty solid metroidvania-like game with Tails using inventions to fight. of an army of invading birds, but none of them are much like your typical Sonic games, so I wouldn't recommend them to

beginner

s simply because they don't set the right expectations, but they're not bad games, you just know they're definitely worth your time. . Taking a look at sometime, oh yeah, and Sonic Drift one and two just exist.
I guess you play console racing games instead of those. I really don't need to be the one to tell you that Sonic R is some kind of shitty game. Or this has been meme to death, Sonic the Fighters isn't that bad, but it's really just some sort of mid-level fighting game with sonic characters, so it's not like this is a great example of what the franchise has to offer. Sonic Shuffle. It's decent, it's a mediocre mario party clone with some cool original ideas and awesome aesthetics, but overall, decently skippable games like sonic spinball and pinball party, while fun in their own right, are also more derivative and , while fine on their own, don't. it really reflects the roots of the main series, all that, Sonic Battle is another fighting game for the GBA and it's a little better.
It even has what I consider a pretty cool story, but again it's a later investment to do something that doesn't need your time. However, Sonic Chronicles is a desperately bad attempt at a Sonic RPG on the DS made by Bioware of all people. This game is just poor. There is practically nothing good in this. Avoid this like the plague. Instead, maybe pick up Sonic Rush or Sonic Rush Adventure for your DS needs, they're actually pretty decent 2D handheld sonic games that expand on the design elements of Sonic Advance quite well. They feature Blaze the cat, who has become a long-time fan favorite, and feature split-screen gameplay on the two screens they even have. the best special stage control in the entire series in my opinion, the solid stuff really managed to make me like a version of the half pipe which is a pretty big achievement, Sonic and the secret rings.
This is an on-rails game for the Wii with a lot of cumbersome motion controls and a decent, if not downright strange reception to the story, in this case they were quite mixed, so while you might find something you like, I'd still say that it doesn't capture much of the spirit of the series on the gameplay side. The sister sequel, Sonic and the Black Knight, is a little better because the controls are a little better, but you're still constantly moving the wiimote to make your way through things and it can get quite tiring on your wrists, luckily one thing It's that black knight.
What it does have going for it is a truly incredible soundtrack and a pretty solid story by sonic writing standards. Frankly, it's not a perfect game and it's still not what I would call a good first Sonic game, but it might be worth a try later if you're drawn to any of its elements, okay, let's see, Sonic Writers was a game of Pretty decent racing, cool concept, you know, it was mechanically dense, though really mechanically dense and doesn't really do a very good job of teaching the player how it works. works for someone who solved all their problems, it can be a lot of fun, but that assumes you have the patience to trudge through your inevitable hours without knowing what the hell you're doing.
Zero Gravity is a pretty decent sequel for what it's worth. and freewriters can only be played on Kinect, so I'm sure you know how most people felt about that. Sonic Forces is the newest to the 3D mainline at the time of this video's creation and I'm sure you may have heard a lot about it. Is it monotonous, yes, uninspired, yes, repetitive, yes, pointlessly propping up for more nostalgia, boring, bs, yes, there are classic sounds again, but worse, yes, modern stages last about 30 seconds, yes, the scenario designed by three people who have never worked on a Sonic game before, yes, but can you? make an oc and its stages are pretty decent, six out of ten it's the loudest game I've ever played, don't make this the first or the last, or even the next, okay, sonic boom rise of lyric on wii u Uh, it's one of those games I really wish I didn't have to comment on here, but alas, I know this is a recent stain on the reputation of the franchise closest in ferocity to the harsh decades Sonico 6 received when it came out. . and it deserves it yes, it is true that it is absolutely unfinished.
Admittedly, at best it's just a generic platform beat-em-up starring Sonic and his friends, always traveling at a measured pace. It is also true that this is a spin-off. game developed by a different studio and based on a licensed cartoon in a different continuity than the main games, that excuses it for being garbage, not even children deserve better than this shovelware, but that's what shovelware is, not a mainline Sonic title. It's more like the Ednetti version of Sonic for Xbox, and the broken glass, fire, and ice aren't even worth paying much attention to in my opinion. The two 3D Sonic Boom games are probably a much better waste of time, as they are a metroidvania of sorts. -esque, but I've never played them and, again, I still wouldn't call those very loud streams of negativity, okay, out of the way.
Let's get back to talking about some interesting things now, Sonic Mania, God's gift to us mortals, and proof that despite not talking to us, he has not completely given up on the human race, I say it right At the time, I hadn't, but Sonic Mania is everything I love about 2D Sonic packed into a beautifully designed and immaculately crafted package with gorgeous pixel art. Incredibly good music and even some cool twists on old zone settings. Some people complained that this game didn't have more original levels than callback levels, and to be fair to them, I understand that I would have liked to see more original stages as well, but still.
I can't get mad, this game is something I can learn and play every day of my life and never get tired of it. It's so good in terms of ultimate classic sonic gameplay. I'm sure many would probably argue that Sonic 3 and k is more of an epic masterpiece, but Sonic Mania is worth the time and money for a lot of people. I know this was a great entry to the franchise and convinced a lot of them that Sonic had something to do after all, but if I can help it, I'd avoid the mania for as long as you can stand because the amount of fan service in this game It's amazing and the more you know beforehand about the history of the franchise, the more you'll be able to appreciate it when you watch It's your first time, either way, it's a stellar game, absolutely highly recommended, oh, I guess we're done with the games part, so we did, gamers, don't think I've left you stranded to the entertainment fans, although I know you like your TV around here, so.
I'll throw you a bone now if you want to get into animated sound content, let's talk about where to start first, of course let's start with the most iconic and one of the most notable animated incarnations of Sonic the character has ever had. seen sonic the hedgehog also known as sat am due to its saturday morning time slot was one of the first animated incarnations of the sonic franchise in the west this version of events takes a much darker approach to the world of sonic and does not presents him as a Hero fighting to stop a maniacal scientist who wants to take over the planet, but as a renegade eco-terrorist teenager who fights for freedom and operates from a hidden base with his friends who also fight for freedom in a remote forest village , carrying out missions and organizing giant plans. attack against the tyrannical rule of a truly imposing Dr.
Robotnik who, crucially, has already won the battle for the planet and controls every facet of it with his iron fist that is becoming scarily more relevant today. It's actually a really well-written show with a lot of pathos. and excellent atmosphere and even despite its sometimes cheesy writing, the characters are very developed and extremely likeable. Ah, the plots can be really interesting. I would say more about this one because it couldtalk about it all day, but I already did with a previous video essay that describes everything I love about this show in gorgeously explicit detail along with plenty of history about its production and, ultimately, depressing cancellation.
If you want to know more about satiam, I highly recommend you watch that video, I'm told. which is probably one of my best and I've also been told by many people who didn't watch it and only read the text on the thumbnail that I'm a sjw because I did it, but for now I just know that if you need a compelling sonic television experience. This series, while not particularly gameplay accurate, is certainly worth loving in its own right and rightly hosts a vibrant fanbase to this day despite being canceled over 20 years ago. He is a guardian.
The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog was the lighter. In the tone of the '290s Sonic cartoons that debuted in 1993, they look less like a dramatic action show and more like a Looney Tunes cartoon with sonic tails and robotnik, and my favorite of all Eggman's henchmen in Any incarnation of the series, scratch and roll, these guys are so much fun. They're really like half the reason I come back to this show today, not to say the show is terrible or anything, it's certainly very cheesy, full of 90s nonsense and totally tubular vernacular, brother, but it's just a lot of innocent fun, honestly and even though it's still a long way off. of the game, at least it portrays the relationship between Sonic and Tales very well, then has plenty of high-speed antics to enjoy watching unfold.
This cartoon also features the legendary portrayal of robotnik by singer Long John Baldry, who despite sadly passing away in 2005, is still alive. via his many exploitable and hilarious voice clips from this same underground sonic show, on the other hand, is probably the furthest thing from being remotely accurate in the game and yet, it just sucks, it's kind of a meme itself same these days and for good reason. It's pretty representative of how everywhere Sonic's brand image was in the past due to Sega's lax handling of the actual franchise's image during that time period. It's a perfect representation visually speaking of how many splinters there are in this community due to the truly inexhaustible amount of continuities or styles to speak of and I'm sure the underground has its fans too, but suffice to say I'm not one of them if we're thinking about a sound animation from the late 90s, I have another one. that comes to mind much more often sonic the hedgehog from 1996 is a direct to video animated by studio pia piarat loro one of those things is like the clapback commonly known for his work on the hit series naruto and tokyo ghoul apparently This was supposed to be a big pilot release for the start of a possible Sonic anime series, however it was unfortunately never picked up for a full production and instead all we have as a result are these pilot episodes that were released combined. in a 50 minute film for advertising films.
Like sonic the hedgehog, the film's plot follows sonic and such once again in a new original continuity where they live on planet liberty and must try to stop an out-of-control generator robot created by dr. eggman to help save his south island president and his cat. The anime's daughter Sarah, who has a crush on Sonic for some reason because of course she does Knuckles, also appears later, but she seems to have been relegated to a simple treasure hunter. Sonic doesn't imply anything, unlike Master Emerald's guardian. the floating island the main villain of the movie is metal sonic which ends after they trick sonic into copying their bio data they have a pretty sick anime fight at the north pole during the climax it's really cool the gang This egg's sound is also very good and the animation is also great, although a little dated by today's standards.
It's not the most accurate to the games, but at the time it was at least much more faithful to them than any other animated sonic property. It's also pretty short and sweet. and I would highly recommend it to any fan, as well as any potential fan who wants to first dip their toes into something small to get a little taste of the characters, as this exists in a bit of licensing limbo at the moment. You can easily find both the subtitled version and the adv dub version on YouTube in their entirety with a quick search. New viewers.
I would recommend the Japanese with sub just because the dub is a bit but I'm nostalgic for it if that's worth anything to you talking about anime although Sonic x yeah this one would definitely come up and to be honest I have mixed feelings about it. To be fair, there are a lot of things I love about Sonic Yes, it has the human aspect. characters that most people hate and especially Chris, but it is very funny at times, even if it can get a little boring at others, most people I would say don't even know how good this show can be, although considering most still only watch the four.
The kids dub without even knowing that four kids not only drastically reduced a lot of content they found objectionable, but also removed outright emotions from certain scenes to lessen the hit of sadness. I guess people just assume that because Sonic is a kids franchise that four kids kids wouldn't have changed this show that much, that's absolutely not true, plus they completely replaced the amazing original soundtrack with something much more stereotypical, in the style of Saturday morning cartoons, as a result, the English version really ends up slaughtering many of the original content, especially when it comes to season 3 and Cosmo's story, seriously, do yourself a favor if you've never seen the Japanese version of Sonic It's like, secretly, the best Sonic show ever and you don't know it yet, but you'll know it anyway.
Where was it? Oh yeah. Sonic X is a decent entry point. Yes, let it go. Sonic Boom is bad. Alright. I know people are really going to hate it. Me for saying that it is an unpopular opinion. A lot of people really like the Sonic Boom show. I understand, don't worry. If you like this series, I'm not trying to undermine that or tell you that you're wrong. I understand this one. It's kind of a p for me because I've never really enjoyed the direction of the Sonic franchise's humor that isn't directed at the actual dynamics of the characters, but at the series itself.
There are only so many times you can make meta jokes about how badly everyone thinks of the Sonic games. you're looking at the people who really like Sonic in your audience, you know, the people who are probably inclined to watch a Sonic cartoon in the first place start to get a little uneasy about it, to top it all off, yeah I know these are different canonical variations of the characters. but many of them are so different from their games that I don't even know why they bothered. A million shows like this could do well on Cartoon Network without needing to be related to Sonic and given how much they changed about it.
I still don't know why they didn't do that, but Nezumi you said you like Sonic. Sad, it's also not accurate for the games, yes, but there is a difference between Saturday and Sonic that can be a little annoying sometimes, in general. He acts pretty faithful to his character, I don't think boom sonic really does this and also sonic's out am has the excuse of being very different from the games because at that time there wasn't much material to work with. In 1993, not even Sonic 3 and K were fully available and the Sonic games that were available lacked story and had no real official dialogue or characterization or whatever, they had to build a base from very little information and a sonic boom given the time it was created just doesn't have this excuse at all, although like I said, if you like this show, good for you, I know a lot of people enjoy it and I'm glad you can as a Sonic fan since Many years ago.
This just doesn't work for me and I think it's not exactly faithful to the material it's adapting, so I wouldn't personally recommend it if it's your Sonic, although hey, there are so many Sonics out there. You're probably going to have a preference for which one you like best and that's totally fine, the 2020 talkie, and well, yeah, it's pretty good in terms of adaptation, but it's decent, I mean, okay, listen to me, I just had It's very fun, okay, a masterpiece, not a great game, that's accurate, not a fun movie, although yes, it also has a more emotionally vulnerable sound, which I really enjoy considering that Sega seems to be getting closer every day to declaring that Sonic is the biggest boy. who doesn't even cry when his kids die, oh right, you're uh, if you're new here, you might not know the context of that, well, okay, hold on, folks, we're getting into some weird stuff, good stuff yet to come come, yes, but There's a lot to wait to do, join me now for your time in the sunshine, comic fans because this is the path of a sonic reader, ah, the big daddy, the big kahuna, with more than 20 years of publication with a cavalcade of artists and writers, many of them excellent. and a lot of ken penders are fine, but really archie, sonic the hedgehog, what's there to say?
I could say a lot of things, like it starts off as a pretty typical gag comic that eventually ends up taking itself incredibly seriously and being cosmic in size the entire time. I could say that Sonic in this comic explains all the things he does, he could probably kill God. I could just stay on the surface and point out the hundreds of echidna ocs that Ken Penders invented to further the epic legend of his original care of the Messiah, I mean. Knuckles, but that's all easy, that's all child's play, you really want to talk about Archie, Sonic, well me neither, I really don't have the time to go over even a fraction of this crap right now.
I have a whole Dissection Series dedicated to it, although I rarely update it because it doesn't get enough views to be sustainable, please support me on Patreon, but do I think Archie Sonic is any good? Well, that's a really complicated question to answer, so complicated that it might even be. frankly impossible because this sucker ran for close to 300 issues, not even counting the huge amount of bonus content and special editions of paperbacks etc, this is huge and because of the various people working on all of this with points of different and sometimes contradictory views on the direction of history.
The tone and characters should take it, sometimes it can be great storytelling with genuine emotion, heart and incredible action and drama alike, other times it can be a sloppy, tone-deaf train wreck that's too up its own ass to say which is still about sonic the hedgehog, at the end of the day, is too vast and multifaceted to say one way or another, it just needs to be experienced to be understood, and even if you don't understand it, there are, rightly, many people who they despise this continuity because of the reputation its more questionable aspects earned for the franchise, but there are so many people who love this universe and the flaws of its characters and all I can't tell you is don't choose it because I don't know your heart.
You may fall in love with this or want to rip it apart, but if you're a comic book fan you owe it to yourself to at least try Fleetway UK and Sonic, the comic is a much stranger case, this one is much loved. For a lot of people who grew up with it and having read a lot of it, I can definitely see the charm, there's a lot to like here and while some of the artists can do a pretty poor job, there are also themes that seem pretty fascinating. The continuity is also home to some fun abnormalities, like Kintobor and Robotnik hatching from a giant egg one time, Amy's weird updo which was a misinterpretation of one of her Sonic CD promo art, and Super Sonic being a psychopath. literal assassin bent on killing Sonic. his loved ones by taking control of his body, yeah it's pretty obvious, Sonic himself is also kind of a huge jerk in this comic, it's actually funny how genuinely evil he is all the time, although you could probably attribute this to a lot of guilt from how he himself basically gave rise to robotnik by accident and how at the same time he lost who was once a dear friend of his.
He probably turns off his emotional responses to people in an attempt to keep them from getting too close, but hey, enough psychoanalyzing blue hedgehog for now I swear I have a life, there's a lot to love in this comic, but sometimes it can be even more strange that the continuity ofArchie, to make matters worse, has much less content than Archie Sonic 2, since it was canceled much earlier. However, there is a fairly popular sequel online with fans that has been going strong for many years and has even received support and assistance from some of the previous staff members on the original publication, so it's pretty cool if If you're ever looking for sonic continuity with a cynical and sarcastic British twist, I hope my British friends liked that line, then this is probably your go-to or you could easily pick my favorite of the three, my cream of the crop and do it. which I would say is a perfect introduction to the world of sonic not only in the comics but in general as it is even quite compatible with the canon idw game sonic the hedgehog, it has everything, quickly brings new fans up to speed with interesting themes of organic intro and occasional recap bits and throws you headlong into an incredible first arc with a straight Dragon Ball Z level shown in the battle with Crew vs Metal Sonic.
This comic is basically everything I would have wanted from something that aimed to replicate the charms of the adventure-era game continuity and Ian Flynn's consistently intelligent writing. for years of love for the franchise makes reading each part a blast, it's still pretty early, it's only two arcs deep at the time of this video so you won't have any trouble catching up and it has some of the things more consistently beautiful illustrations for a sonic publication that has ever been consistently attempted, it even has regular art contributions from the author of the popular Ghosts of the Future fan comic, Evan Stanley, who easily offers my favorite art in the book, really leading to the characters to their emotional limits with the expressive, hard-hitting art that really gets to know these characters, their personalities, and what makes them so appealing because of the future is pretty cool too, but you probably won't be able to get any of that unless you really like it. lots of familiarity with the franchise oh uh looks like we're done, I covered everything I wanted to, I mean I'm sure there's plenty of other niche side content out there, but there's plenty of time for you to get to that once you set foot in water. right, I guess I could mention fan games, but I mean, you know they can be really good, but it's probably best to save them for when you've played an official game first and, wow, I went through a lot of stuff huh, how could I not?
I am exhausted? Actually, no, it doesn't matter, I'm exhausted. It just hasn't caught up with me yet. Oh wait, what's there, ah, everything hurts. Maybe I'll let you talk to each other for a while. If that's okay, then my first experience watching Sonic the Hedgehog was the first game at my friend's house. I was four years old at the time and I watched them play for a while and then they let me play. I fell in love with it, but never had enough time to really get into it while I was at my friend's house. Later on my 5th birthday my whole family participates and buys me a Sega Genesis for my birthday along with a copy of sonic 1.
I remember being very happy and excited and then I finally got to play that game and beat it. I've been in love with the Sonic series ever since, through all the good and bad, it's been a journey, so I got into sonic through sonic x I was like five and watched this two episode sonic x DVD at Walmart and I thought, hey, I recognized that character, let's understand that, so my parents bought it for me and I watched it so many times. times my parents must have been very frustrated with me now it's scratched all the time and I still have it I still have it now I'm 20 and I'm addicted to Sonic I still love reading comics I don't play many games now I watch a lot of cartoons but yeah I just love the world, I love the characters, it's still cool to me, I love science camp 2002, I was seven and everyone around me was.
We were also all miserable because our parents decided to force us to spend our free time dissecting squid and memorizing formulas instead of living, but there was a respite 30 minutes a day for lunch and even more than that, the Dreamcast turned on the game of The choice was also dead or alive, which I didn't understand the appeal of back then, unfortunately I understand it now, but I got tired of seeing the same girls fighting each other all lunch and looked for another record. There was one called Sega Smash Pack Vol 1, which I decided to appear on the menu, one game stood out by showing the character Sonic the hedgehog.
It looked fast and I only had three minutes to play, so I gave it a try. Sonic the hedgehog on Sega Smashback is a terrible port, the sound is horrible. the graphics are broken and none of it really mattered to me after just one round of Green Hill Zone I instantly fell in love with it I kept talking about it day and night I annoyed my parents for the rest of the year and that Christmas when Santa brought me a mega collection from Sonic from Gamecube. I've been a Sonic fan since I was two years old, he played it when he was new to babysitter genesis and I immediately fell in love with it like the music, the colors, the speed of everything.
It just clicked instantly and I couldn't tear myself away and even though I was a die-hard Nintendo kid, never having a Sega console growing up, I never really felt in love with Sonic and he captured my imagination like few other series did. I know what it is, but there's something about this character in the world around him that seems to spark people's creativity. Seeing the countless art videos and even full games created by people who really love this franchise, it's really moving and still being a big reason why all these decades later I still adore Sonic and how he has become a constant source of positive inspiration for so many people OMG I have had to redo this so many times because I kept getting rambling.
Sorry Marcy, okay here we go, I went into Sonic on a whim, actually because it was on sale in a big box in Circuit City for like 20 bucks and I played a bit of the demo beforehand because sometimes they have demos I like to play on the console there, so I was curious and I just went all out and what made me stay, I think was the cast, um specifically like the different character dynamics and stuff, they had their own lovely personalities. you know you couldn't help but get involved in all his stories and you like the joy combined with the feeling of adventure and oh my god, fishing with music, music is as catchy as candy, there, there, there, there, there, there , there is some healthiness in it. so, you know this vibe, this is something that you can't help but just support everyone, but also invest a lot in, just, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh no, decide, I think my first dive into the Sonic franchise as a whole came of, I mean. late 2001, early 2002, they had just ported uh sonic 3 knuckles on the PC and Second Adventure 2 Battle was coming to the Gamecube and I mean that was the first time I really got into it like I always watched Sonic as a kid.
You just know I was more of a Nintendo family and I always appreciated art and it wasn't until I played those games that I could really appreciate the music too so I think if anything would keep me here those would be the two things art style music oh oh also blame guilt for being a diehard nintendo fan during the time sonic was around, you know, as a direct competitor to nintendo, that probably has something to do with the two console wars, the dark times of man, start my association with Sonic. Quite fitting for a character who seems to embody primal subconscious fantasies of limitless joy and freedom before he can concretely remember I was born in 1991, the same year as Sonic.
I've often thought that I was simply meant to have an affinity for this character. For one simple reason, growing up alongside Sonic, I was exposed to the development of the character as it took its particular and peculiar form here in the United States, beginning with the wildly successful and imminently playable trailer for the first Sega Genesis games, without However, I'm sure for many of my generation, for me, Sonic was then and now and forever crystallized and defined by the Sad Am series and its unforgettable cast of characters. For me, the world of Sonic was defined by that early period from 1991 to 1995. for sonic 1-3 and sonic and knuckles for the genesis and sad am series and then consequently for the comic series, to the extent that it was a reflection, a distillation and an extension of all of this, it was a great kaleidoscope of images, iconography and stories that bore the brand or label of this is me and sonic.
I loved Sonic, so I accepted everything that came my way. Sonic's primordial soup was prepared simultaneously with my developing consciousness and self-awareness. It was sad. I'm in the comic series that adopted and adapted the world of the series into characters that became my heart and remember who Sonic was and what he represented. Freedom fighters became primary preschool role models for me, combining the aesthetics of the playful animal genre with the propulsive sense of proactive action from their roots in video games and action cartoons, all things this impressionable young man took seriously. An innocent joy and part and parcel of this was, of course, Sonic's sidekick Zekel, his compliment and soulmate, Princess Sally.
Sonic and Sally are eternally and inextricably intertwined in the way I see and think about Sonic the Hedgehog more than possibly almost any other element. of the franchise along with sonic himself and dr robotnik sally is indispensable in my conception of sonic there was no sonic without sally and vice versa, so much of the initial sonic paraphernalia seemed to emphasize the iconography of sonic and sally together in the sequence of the program's opening title. in storybooks on VHS cassette boxes in the years since the passions and attachment that I and so many others have experienced in relation to this character have impacted me and stayed with me, perhaps it is a reflection of how she embodies a different aspect of the heroic potential within everyone. of us who sonic does sonic is joy unlimited possibilities how exciting it is to imagine or act out fantasy playing a game of being unlimited and moving freely and what an inspiration to see someone who can do this being kind, kind, empathetic, helpful. and applying her carefree and cold inner attitude towards others, liberating the oppressed, fighting against the oppressors, the defeat of the Fleetus and a warm knowing smile on her face, Sally, on the other hand, perhaps represents a similar outward expression of A powerful and inspiring inner quality of care and concern, compassion and solidarity with others Sonic's innate understanding of freedom drives him to bring liberation to his fellow human beings Innate sense of responsibility and deep love for others Sally's others drive her to act for the protection and prosperity of those she loves, which can radiate from her friends who become her surrogate family to, in this case, come to embrace a broader sense of good. common.
Both Sonic and Sally complement each other because they are ultimately good-hearted people who strive to make a difference by defying the darkness of a seemingly overwhelming situation and making each other better and more whole as they do so. virtue of its unique strengths. This is a powerful demonstration of how we are better because of the bonds of love we establish with others, the deep well of love. that continually replenishes freedom fighters with the bonds of love that share that powerful sense of family and mutual protection and collective destiny and collective upliftment is an emotional anchor that has always sustained my appreciation for the sonic series and that I attribute to the established foundation by lynn janssen ben hurst pat ally and the entire sat iam production team a fascinating case study in creative alchemy that combines different influences and stylistic approaches to create new, fresh, powerful and lasting art now that I am an adult, I am aware that The Sonic franchise has tendrils and many different types of media of various qualities produced by individuals and intended for audiences all over the world.
This is beautiful and magical in its own way and speaks to the universality and iconic nature of sound. Freedom is for everyone and for the character who embodies it. who offers a compassionate, hopeful, relaxed and unpretentious expression of this ideal can be infinitely reinvented and reinterpreted, but for me, growing up and still today, the Sonic who fights against the oppressive tyranny of Dr. Robotnik with Sally and the fighters for the freedom aside resonates with me. stronger than any other iteration of the character, all of which I can appreciate, admire and be a fan of on their own terms, I think this phenomenon I've described reflects the high quality of the sad am series, the truly lovable appeal of the characters and the deeper thematic truths that are actually endemic to Sonic himself but that Saddam's scenario subtly foregrounded Sonic, who mocks the tyrannical Dr.
Robotnik andvibrantly and vigorously opposes all their monstrous and inhuman authoritarian impulses that put thinking living creatures under their heels and atrociously rob them of their capacity for free will and feel robotization and bring cold, metallic anti-life to the lush greenness of the earth is a living embodiment of freedom and someone who sincerely believes in and fights for the cause by taking the cause, but never taking it seriously himself. I consider myself really lucky to have Sonic Tails, Sally Bunny, Antoine Roeder, Nicole Dulce and Uncle Chuck to look for so far new iterations of Sonic Tails and everyone else continue to fight the good fight.
The fight against Dr. Robotnik and the new generations will have responded with as much joy, love and passion as I did to those comics and cartoons of my youth and yet I can take great comfort, solace and joy and the fact that than Sonic and the freedom fighters. They will endure and continue to entertain and endear themselves to new audiences and that I or anyone else will always be able to revisit my old friends whenever I wish through the Sat Am box set through reprints or back issues fan art and fan fiction. We hope Sonic continues to work. for years to come, so yeah, in case you haven't realized by now, I love Sonic the Hedgehog.
A lot of people, not just me, entire generations love Sonic The Hedgehog and maybe not all of us love Sonic The Hedgehog himself and that's totally cool. You know it's okay, from gameplay styles to worlds, tones and shapes, it doesn't really matter, we are all united in some way by our fervor and passion for this franchise, whatever part we enjoy, I know that the fanbase of Sonic can seem like a pretty crazy place, quite divided and even a little scary, it can be intimidating to go through not only all the different camps of Sonic fans but also the different Sonic media out there, but if you find the resolve to click on this video and watch till the end then maybe you are ready.
I'm sure something on this list must have piqued your interest a little more than the rest and maybe you think you know where you want to finally start your sonic journey. I'd love to tell you that I've been a small part of this, if you do, this place can be absolutely crazy at times and trust me Sonic fans, you all drive me crazy at certain points, make no mistake, but you're all dumb like me and I love them. So the Sonic fanbase is nothing but passionate, and despite all the wandering weirdos on the internet, there are plenty of great people with good hearts through the ups, downs, and overall aspects.
I've met some of my best friends through this series and I've had a lot more fun with other people here than anywhere else. The Sonic franchise is the reason I always wanted to voice act as a kid and have now done professional-level paid work in the field. Sonic was the reason I wanted to start doing anything related to YouTube and now I have you this franchise, if nothing else it brings people together even when it may seem like a lot of us are chasing each other, but whether they are just starting here or have been around. for a long time, let me know where your sonic journey began.
I really like hearing from all of you on this topic. It's wonderful to know that mine started with adventure cartoons when I was little and transitioned to Windows adaptations of some of the classics. and then onto sa1 with the legacy dreamcast, those were wild days, let me tell you I also loved listening to the entries I got audio wise for the little testimonial section, thanks to everyone who sent one in, I really appreciate it. I hope this has given you a good idea of where you want to start if you're interested in the Sonic series and learning more about it, so thanks for watching and don't pass up peace everyone.
