Mar 25, 2024

dollar

s. Spring Tree DIY for you, let me know in the comments after watching this video which one is your favorite and don't forget to like this video if you enjoy it, let's get into the tutorials for the first DIY I will be working on. With this sign that I got from Dollar Tree, I'm going to cut the ribbon on the back and then I'm going to turn it over and take out a little heart and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised because when I took it out it was completely smooth on the bottom.

I didn't really have to sand it or anything. I hit it with the sander but it was completely smooth. Once I removed it, I took some wavy white chalk paint and ended up painting three coats on this sign so it has. good full coverage now that my sign is completely dry. I have these little fences that I've had for quite a while, they came from Hobby Lobby in the unfinished wood section, like this one, painted white, all done and I'm putting up. the bottom to know where to put these letters these letters came from a package also from Hobby Lobby that I've had for a while but you can certainly use the ones from Dollar Tree and if you don't have the twists you can Offend with just popsicle sticks so what I'm doing is laying out the letters of the words farm fresh carrots and I'm going to use them as stencils so once they come down I'll end up painting them over them and then I'll end up taking them out at the end now that all the litters are down.

More Interesting Facts About,

I'm going to go in and adjust it where I need it to go and then make sure they're pressed in real good using my little brayer from my cricket, I'm just pushing them down, you don't have to use a brayer, you can use, you know, your hand, whatever thing flat just to make sure your letters are attached and once that's done, I'm going to use that technique. A couple of weeks ago I showed you this dressing that uses candle wax. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll link to that video in the description box.

It explains in great detail how to do this technique, but what? What I'm doing is rubbing it with wax and then once it's all rubbed with wax I'll be ready to paint it for the top coat. I'll use this Mays Waverly chalk paint and apply it in one coat. I don't want full coverage because again, I really want this sign to look a little distressed, but I thought it would be kind of fun to use the yellow as the top and then the white will be what appears once I start distressing it while the pain is on. starting to dry on my side.

I'm going to start removing the little stickers. Now I'm going to go ahead and reveal it all here, so when I started to remove them, some fell off completely and then some fell off. only the black layer came off and left the little white part sticky. I don't know if that makes sense, but I'm scratching it off right here, as you can see, it's the little white part, so I started wanting the whole sticker. but then when I started moving forward it really made the sign more three dimensional it had that little kind of blurry it wasn't really blurry but I don't know how to describe it guys the little bit of white left over on the letters so I just started to take them off like they came off and if they came off completely, great, if just the black layer came off, great, you know, it's all good and then once these letters started coming off, I didn't want my sign completely. dry because the next step in that stress process is to start scraping it off while the paint is sticky so here I go with my little scraper and start wearing it down and leaving it how I want it to look so that the sign is all worn out and I end up with the letters and now I need to locate my second piece of fence to fit my sign and I'm just marking it out and then using my little craft knife this is from our teza it's a set that comes with all kinds of blades and different casings and this little mini mat I will link it below if you are looking for a good knife.
I'm really happy with this one, so once I cut it out, I'll do it. I'm ready to attach it and I'm going to use this gorilla glue adhesive spray and for this to be quite effective there is one step you need to follow and that is basically spraying the surface you are adhering to as well as spraying the object but I chose not to do that . I just decided to spray just the fence and it worked well. I didn't want to mess with hot glue because I didn't want it to grow. I didn't want to wait for 6000 to dry and I didn't want to use super glue so this is what I decided to use because I have it and I don't use it very often.
The last step for this DIY is to attach some of these carrots from Dollar Tree to this offense and I decided to make six different carrots, placing them randomly and I will use hot glue to attach them and then this sign will be finished for the next DIY I will do. a padded birdhouse, so this is just a little birdhouse from the Dollar Tree and then I'm also going to need a candle holder. I'm going to use this crystal chandelier here and I'm going to go ahead and paint it with some wavy white chalk paint. yeah I'm painting it and not spray painting it because if you're new I have a history with spray painting and it's not a good history so let's leave that alone and I'll go ahead and do this now.
I don't want it to cover completely anyway, so it works perfectly fine. Now I'm going to take my super organized fabric and choose several different pieces so I can cover the birdhouse pieces after spending a lot. too long to decide on fabric this is what I decided so I went ahead and cut pieces for each piece of the birdhouse and laid it all out to make sure I had what I wanted and then as far as wrapping the pieces it's quite simple, I just took hot glue and started by making one end and then I would throw it out and make the opposite end and just make sure there were no air bubbles or little gaps in the fabric and then I would just proceed to do that every which way.
I wasn't too worried about the inside because when you build it it won't show until the inside of the birdhouse, so yeah, just one end, the next end and the other side and the other side now all the way to the front. for the birdhouse I didn't do it a little differently so for the front piece of the birdhouse here it is as you can see I just wrapped it as usual and then there is the hole that needs to be opened so I took a couple of very sharp scissors and I cut four little slices of cake and divided them into four pieces, so I started by making a kind of X there and then I just or maybe I didn't, what did I do?
Oh, now I guess. I didn't do the X, yes I did, that's what I'm doing now. I'm making an holes opened up, so all I did for where the hanger goes was just cut a hole with my super sharp scissors. and stick the stick right in that hole and voila now it's time to put the birdhouse together so I'm going to start by assembling the front and sides of the birdhouse and I'm just using hot glue you could certainly use some. more permanent and, honestly, it probably had. I really thought he would have thought about it.
I would have used my fabric glue for this since it is fabric bonded to fabric, but I was right in the spot and I went ahead and applied the hot glue. I also ran a bit. hot glue the inside seams of the birdhouse just to help make it a little sturdier, then from the sides in the front I reattach the base of the birdhouse with just a little hot glue and then , from there, I'll put the roof on once The roof is on, so I decided I wanted to go ahead and add some Dollar Tree Moss to the ledge on the front of the birdhouse and I'm just using a little bit of hot glue to attach that moss and now my birdhouse is completely assembled.
I'm ready to get started, so now I'm just going to take a piece of twine and tie it around my little candlestick here and then to attach my birdhouse to my candlestick. Now I'm using hot glue. I will say this, it sticks there and that's where there's a little bit of a wobble if you go and, like you know, touch it and move it. The reason I won't make it permanent right now is because I have this trick where I use a roll of paper towel and make the chandelier look different. And I want this chandelier to look different over time, so if you want it to be permanent, make sure you use something like e6000 and here it's all done.
The next DIY is super easy, so I'll grab one of these little ones. jars from the Dollar Tree I'm going to take out the twine and save it for later and then I'm going to go ahead and de-gloss it and then I'm going to take some wavy white chipped paint and paint the jar white and then the lid will end up painted with metallic galvanized tin paint. Well, the jar is drying out. I'm going to work on the little carrot that I want to put in, so this is just one of those Dollar Tree carrots that come in the package.
I'm using it as a template, the orange felt came from Hobby Lobby and this green felt is from our border tez, so I'm going to go ahead and trace my carrot on the felt, then I'll cut out the pieces of felt and again use my gorilla. adhesive spray glue. I'm going to place the felt on the wooden carrot and then once it's all finished, I'm going to grab these Teza fabric markers and go ahead and add some details to the carrot, just a few lines with the brown marker. and a green marker and then I'll be ready to pin this to my jar, but before I do that I'm going to go ahead and put the thread back into the jar and then once that's done, I'm just going to take some heat.
Glue and place my carrot to the front of the jar. Here it is all finished. Now let's get into our last DIY. For my last DIY, I'll be using this 5 by 7 frame I had in my stash upstairs. You could certainly choose a frame. from wherever the Dollar Tree thrift store is, whatever you want to do, I'm going to paint this with two coats of Waverly white chalk paint and while the frame is drying, I'm going to grab a piece of gray burlap that I bought from birla fabric comm. and I'm going to attach it to the back of the frame using a little hot glue.
Once that's done, I'm going to glue it back into my frame and then I'm going to grab a template that I made on my Cricut and yeah, this tutorial is coming up, I'm going to show it. You know how you can make these reusable plastic stencils, even if you don't have a cutting machine, there is a way to make them, so I promise it's coming very, very soon and I'll just grab some Waverly chalk paint from the ballet slipper and I stamp it on top of the burlap fabric and then I have this piece of blue ribbon on the template because I didn't like the long long tail on this bird so it's there if you're wondering and then once I'll stamp it, let it dry and then just take a piece of twine, make a little bow, hot glue it to the bird and this DIY is done.
