four

projects

I completed for you for this week's video, so for project one I found these

four

little ceramic houses at the

thrift

store and I like to use them to do what I call It's a small world and my first step is to always paint them white, so I took them outside and gave them a couple coats of Rust-oleums Flat White just to give them a good base coat to to be able to go over them with paint.

This is after. one coat and after they are dry I take my DIY white swan and pounce on the paint just because I don't want a brush texture. I want it more stippled, so this is the effect I'm in. Also, it pushes the paint into all the little cracks that are in these pieces, so I give each one a really good coat of paint. Almost finished, this one took a little while because it had a lot more color than the other pieces and once it's done, I'm going to take mod podge and I'm going to paint all the ceilings and add glitter and I love this effect.

More Interesting Facts About,

To me it makes it look like kind of a little snow scene with sparkly snow all over the roofs and it's a little time consuming because you have to go over everything very carefully and I like to get all the little edges of the roof and all the little pieces. and parts that I think would actually have snow and then remove the shine. because you want to save that for your next piece, I'm using it like an extra fine translucent glitter. I found it on Amazon. I'm just making sure I cover everything really well and then this particular piece that I had already decided I have. a big hurricane here in the store and I thought this would be perfect with a little bottle brush tree to make one of my little worlds so here I am pouring fake snow at the bottom of this hurricane trying to be careful not to make a total hurricane.

It's a mess of everything and then I just flatten it out a little bit and then I'll add it to the house or actually technically it's a windmill and it's a little bottle brush tree that I found at Dollar Tree and then it's done thanks foreigner for the project. two I was very excited to find this little cheese cutting board, whatever you want to call it, with the hood that covers it and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it when I found it. I knew I wanted to use that circular transfer. so here I'm painting it with a nice coat of DIY little black dress, just give it a nice solid, even coat of paint and once it's dry I'll go back in with my wet paper towel in a hurry, like going around the corners and removing a little bit of that paint where I want to see the wood and once that's done, the next step is to seal it, so this time I'm using Big Top by DIY.

The first step is always to stir and then I just give this again a nice even layer of top coat over the entire piece on the sides and in the little crack, making sure it's milky but it dries, let it dry and once it is completely dry and cured, I can leave my transfer for I knew I wanted to use this little round chicken and that came out of the morning farm transfer set redesigned by Prima, so here I am making sure it's really nice and centered and then I'm using the transfer bar. To leave it and it came down very easily, you can see here.
I just start pulling that piece of parchment back as the transfer sets and once it's done, I'm going to remove the sheet of parchment completely and then do what's called burnishing. which is basically you're putting that transfer on the top layer and making sure nothing is stuck where it belongs and the last step is to take and cover the transfer, so I'm using one big layer again and just one small one. even coat and then ready thank you foreigner T three I found these three little ones I don't know why you want to call them stars on a stick I guess they were at the

thrift

store and I thought they were cool.
They can be used to place with your Christmas decoration. They could be available all year round. They're just a neat little piece to place in the middle of a decorative vignette, so I thought I'd paint them black. I'm desperately trying to use them. the rest of this little black dress of mine so here I'm giving them all a good coat of black paint and then I saw this process on YouTube and thought I'd try it where you just add a little flour to your wet paint and then leave it to a side and let it dry so here I am and let it dry as it was and then you come back with a brush and you just brush the flower and it leaves a kind of milky that shades the black.
I just kind of thought it was a really pretty effect and then I took Pennies from Heaven which is a DIY patina and I'm dry brushing it and now dry brushing is a bit of a long process because the point is you want to start slow and move forward, so I dip my brush into the lid there and then I wipe it off with the paper towel and then I go around the piece and little by little add the patina where I want it. so I do this with the three stars, just wiping off the patina again and then slowly going over each star and then when I'm done I go back over and add a little bit more because I wanted a little bit more. of that copper finish to show off, I think they turned out great, so for my fourth and last project I had this wooden tray in my garage and then I brought it here to the cabin and it's been in what I call my belly.
I've been discovering it's a little storage room for months now and decided that since I'm trying to use up the rest of my little black dress and that's the color I wanted to paint it anyway, this would be a perfect project to add. this video so here I am just giving it a good cleaning because again it's dirty it's been around for a while so I go through it with a garbage cutter first I clean it all off and then I use my sir bottle with a little bit of water and just try to rinse out any bits of that cutter gunk that might be lurking in any of the cracks and crevices trying to get everything nice and clean.
Once that's done, I'm going to go in with my painting, so I'll wear a little black dress. DIY the last of my paint cut here so I can finally open a new can and I'm not painting the background and the reason is I'm saving the background to paint it white because I plan on using decoupage paper and decoupage paper always looks. better on a white background so here I'm repainting the outside of the tray and then I have to paint the handles and get to all the little ridges that are on the handles and then I had to turn it around. to make sure I have the bottom of the handles because they were very hard to see and with that flat brush it doesn't necessarily do a good job on the bottom so here it's all painted and now I'm going to paint the bottom white and I ended up applying two layers of white swan on this and you can see here.
I'm just cutting through that paint carefully to try not to go over my black paint that I was so careful about leaving and just giving it a nice even coat of paint and I'm using this is a zebra brush, it has very soft bristles and so So it doesn't tend to leave a lot of brush strokes in the paint, which is

awesome

, especially since, again, I didn't want ridges. or rough spots on the decoupage paper when I put it on so I just tried to get a nice even layer of paint and then like I said I went over this a second time just because as you can see there's a little bit of shadow uh and then I splatter a little bit about the black paint that I probably should have sealed first, but here we are trying to remove those little bits of white paint.
Now the next step is I'm going to measure this tray because I'm planning on cutting my decoupage paper with my paper cutter that I have here at the store and I need really exact dimensions so I'm trying to be really careful to make sure I get the measurements exact. With that done, I'm finally sealing this piece. and I don't seal the bottom just because I'm going to use a liquid patina that will seal the bottom anyway, there's no need to waste the tent so I'm just going to go around and do a nice even coat of Big Top all over . the black and then it's time to cut my decoupage paper.
This was a little bit of a process because it was too wide to fit so I had to bend it down a little bit, but this cutter is so good that it goes up to 16 inches which is amazing and it just cuts that paper perfectly, very well, like this which here I can cut it and then I have to go and do the other side and again I need to fold it down just to make sure and I'm trying to make I'm sure the edges line up evenly. I really want this piece to be perfect when you put it on just slide it under, line it up and then cut Joop and there's my piece so here I'm using DIY Liquid Patina and I'm I'll start on this side and just go down the side of the tray with the liquid patina so I can place that portion of the decoupage paper and stick it on and then I'll go back and work slowly. across, so I'm really making sure that the corners and the lines are lined up really well.
I don't want any overlap. I don't want it sticking out in any corner so I'm trying to be really careful and then it's just a matter of going over the paper and making sure there are no bubbles or wrinkles so I just smooth it out and then once I have that side done and very well in the middle, the liquid patina I'm going to take my brush and I'm going to finish crossing over and I'm just going to put a nice even layer of liquid patina over the rest of the background, so once that's done and I have a nice even layer, I can take that paper and just lay it down slowly. down trying to get any wrinkles or bubbles out and making sure it's nice and smooth as it goes down.
I ended up taking my little tool from my Cricut machine and just using it to pop out the extra bubbles that were there once it was there. Below, you go over it once again with liquid patina. In fact, I went over it two more times with liquid patina, letting it dry completely between each coat. I just want to make sure it's nice and solid. I think it turned out very good. What did you think of the four

projects

, which was your favorite? I think for me it's probably the tray with decoupage paper. I really like the way the color pops against the black background, so let me know what your project was. favorite it and put it in the comments below, so I hope you'll stay tuned for Thursday's video.
I'm not sure at this point what exactly I'll be doing for Thursday. My husband and I didn't go junk running last weekend. So I'll have to think of something. His idea was to get Thrift out of my garage because I have quite the horror there and show you what I found, but I actually have other ideas in mind. Look, we'll see what I come up with, but I hope you check it out and see me here on Thursday and have a great night and I'll see you later, bye, foreigner.
