farmhouse

decor piece.

This is what you need. I'm starting with a sign I got after the Christmas season. It's always good to visit the local

dollar

tree

s. After the holidays, because most of these signs are two for a

dollar

, I bought this big sign for only 50 cents and I'm bringing my Waverly chalk queen in the color called white and I'm painting the whole sign so wanted to. To give it a wood look, a little bit of a boat, so I took some of my dark brown apple barrel paint and I'm just going around the edges and creating lines to imitate wood throughout the center section of my sign.

More Interesting Facts About,

23 must try high end farmhouse diys l dollar tree farmhouse diys l farmhouse diys you should try...

Once I finished painting and let everything dry, it was time to move on to the blue jeans section, so I'm just grabbing an old pair of jeans, but you can also go to the goodwill store or a second hand and get them. for a couple of dollars and use them that way if you don't have an old pair of jeans and I'm just cutting everything around the pocket, you want to make sure you don't cut the inside of the pocket because that's what we're going to put the flowers into. I picked up these faux hydrangeas at the dollar

tree

and I'm just going to put them in my pocket.

I had the ones on the ends facing the sides and then I put two in the middle to fluff up the pocket of our jeans, then I went in with some of these taller white dollar tree flowers and just stuck them behind the faux hydrangeas and adhered them with a little hot glue but the hydrangea stayed in place so I didn't have to use hot glue on them and for our sign holder, keeping with the rustic theme, I took my trusty old jute and just made a hanger out of That, okay, now I'm going to show you how to make these burlap flowers.
23 must try high end farmhouse diys l dollar tree farmhouse diys l farmhouse diys you should try
They are very cute and very easy to make, so you can use real burlap. I made it in the larger one or you can take this dollar tree burlap ribbon and I took a piece that was about six inches. I didn't measure it, but you can measure it if you want. I tried measuring six inches and what you're going to do is pull the little strands that run along it and this can take a while but once you really isolate a string they come out pretty easy and once you get it going you can see I'm just removing all the horizontal ones by going through our burlap ribbon, so once you've removed all the strands of burlap that run horizontally you're going to fold it in half, it's a little bit easier to do with the burlap ribbon. burlap because you have that wire, the burlap fabric will be a little harder to work with so if it's your first time I would recommend the burlap ribbon because the wire makes things a little easier and then once you've folded it in half, you'll just start rolling it so the tighter the better, if you have it a little looser, it will form a bigger, more flexible flower, so depending on what kind of flower you want to make, that's how tight you're going to roll the burlap ribbon and then you're just going to push them all down like petals and you're going to take some hot glue and you're going to go ahead and glue on a button.
In the center of your burlap flower, I also made one out of real burlap fabric. I really like the way it turned out too. It's a little bit darker color, but again it's a little bit harder than burlap ribbon because you don't have that. wire so I would suggest starting with the ribbon and once my burlap flower was complete I took some hot glue and just hot glued it to the center of our denim patch sign as the centerpiece. I created this next DIY using a bunch of clothespins, here are the other supplies you'll need if you want to recreate this DIY.
This DIY is really easy and only uses like three supplies so you can make it really quick without a lot of materials and what I'm using clothespins so like I mentioned before I was challenged to use a clothespin on today's video and instead of just using one clothespin I ended up using a lot of them and I'm grabbing a vegetable pan, in fact I think it was a tomato. sauce can, but either way it's an 8 ounce vegetable pan and I'm just putting in all my clothespins. I'm going to be heat gluing them upside down. I really liked the ridges and the different textures that they have and I found that when I made it I put them upside down instead of doing it straight it just looked better so I'm going to take my hot glue gun and line everything around the can with these tweezers for the clothes.
Today's video is part of the fabulous July 5th playlist created by the artisan cousins. There is a giveaway associated with today's video on YouTube. Two winners will win 50 Amazon gift cards. All you need to do to be eligible to win is watch the five videos in the playlist and leave a comment on them. I'll be sure to have the playlist linked below so you can check out everyone's videos and leave a comment to enter. I wanted to keep this DIY rustic so the only thing I'm adding to this DIY is some jute so I grabbed some natural jute from the dollar. tree and along all the ridges I'm just filling them with jute for the top and bottom ridges there was a little more room so I did about three laps and then for that very small ridge in the center I just did one lap with the jute I really liked the natural colors of this DIY, but if you want to add some color you can surround the ridges with ribbon or maybe some beads they sell at the dollar tree, you can really make this your own and use whatever. colors or materials you would like.
I ended up using this DIY as a place to store some scissors, pencils, and pens in my kitchen, but if you add the beads, I think it would be really cute to put makeup brushes in the next DIY too. It's a mason jar sign with some flowers that I actually made out of some old blue jeans. This is what you need most to get started. I'm taking a dollar tree sign and it's one of their beach signs that you have. to let me know in the comments below if your dollar tree ever got any of the beach stuff.
I bought this at a dollar tree in Virginia, but it was still like four hours from the beach, so I'm not sure why we got things from the beach. but yeah, let me know if your dollar tree ever did that, but it doesn't really matter because we're going to cover this sign and since I already made the first sign using paint, I thought I'd do something a little different with this one. so I'm taking some scrapbooking paper that I bought at Hobby lobby and I just traced this line and then I'm going to glue this on.
I think it's supposed to be like fake scrapbook paper and I just adhered it. that with a glue stick, if you are good at drawing or drawing then you can go ahead and draw a glass jar on your sign. I'm not the best at drawing so I headed to Google and put it in Mason Jar Google Image and this is one that came up so I printed it in a size that I thought would fit my sign and I'm going a little old school school instead of using a cricut or any vinyl. I'm doing this graphite method and what you do is you just cover the back of your image with a pencil and you have to press pretty hard because you really want the graphite to appear on it and then you just place the mason jar where you want it to be and with a pen or a pointed tool, something that's going to leave an impression, you're just going to trace your image and it's really cool because once you're done tracing your image, when you remove the paper jar, it's going to have a trace.
To keep it rustic, I went ahead and used hot glue and jute and I'm just outlining the traced image. If you wanted something a little more modern, you could maybe use some white or black paint or a marker, but again. I wanted to keep it a little rustic so I decided to use a session and just traced the entire image. The real flowers will be made of denim, but I still wanted them to have stems and that's why I can never throw them away. These are all flower stems that I used in a totally different DIY, I think back in the fall, I still had them and I knew they would be useful so I went ahead and hot glued them on and this is also when I realized that I probably

should

n't have put the jute on top of the jar, but I ended up going over it to make it look like the flowers are actually inside the jar, not in front of the jar, now I'm moving on.
We're going to make these very cute and rustic American denim flowers so I started by just cutting a piece of denim and this one was about six inches long but depending on the size of the flower or how thick you want it. To do it you're going to resize it and then I took hot glue and just made sure that when I folded it it adhered after the denim adhered to the part where it's actually folded and it's not just held together by the glue but the folded section which is what you're going to cut the first time I made this, I did it backwards and it still looks really pretty, but if you want to make the exact flowers that I'm making in this video and have them have the loop at the end, then you'll want to cut that fold so that the loop stays intact and the next thing is very similar to the burlap flowers that we made earlier in this video and you're I'm just going to take the end of our denim roll and start rolling it up and again I'm pushing down on the petals to make the flower a little bit bigger and bloom and I just glue it in place with a little bit of hot glue and then this. flower that I decided to leave as is but I wanted to make another one for you all because I'm making a bunch of them and in case it was confusing I'll show them to you one more time so you can take your denim, this is a scrap piece so this would be a small denim flower and again I am making the cuts where the fold is so that the loop stays and after I have made the cuts I will simply start rolling the small denim into a flower and I ended up making a bouquet of these denim flowers at the just like burlap flowers.
I really like to make them when I watch my favorite YouTuber or a TV show because they are a fun and easy task that you can do while you're at it. watching tv and I have a whole bag full of these every time I want to use them in a project and the one that is a slightly darker denim I wore with some ripped denim, put a button inside and then couldn't resist adding a little flower more in the center. This is also the point where I realized that it looked like my flowers were somehow outside the jar, not in, because I had put the stems in afterwards, so I just went over the stems with a little more jute to really It seemed like the flowers were inside the jar.
Let me know if you have ever made burlap or denim flowers. My mom said she used to make them when she was a kid all the time, so I'd love to make them. I know if you grew up making them too: Our next DIY takes a peel and stick tile and an iced coffee bottle and turns them into a decor piece. Here are some of the other items you'll need to make this when it's a buck. The tree had all its Valentine's Day decorations two for a dollar. I picked up a couple of these signs then turned them over and painted them gray even though the adhesive on the tile will cover about 80 of these signs that I still wanted to make.
A little nerve-wracking, I liked the ridges that were already on the sign so I used them as a guide for the type of paint in a faux shiplap look. I used black paint and a stipple brush from the square section of the dollar tree craftsman and then peeled it off. the mosaic on the back of it and just estimated where I thought the center was. I didn't press it yet and ended up having to pick it up and re-center it if I wanted it to be absolutely perfect. I would definitely recommend it. measuring this, but after looking at it I thought I had it pretty good in the middle and then I just pressed it down to adhere it to our sign.
I drilled two holes in the center of my sign so I could fit through a zip tie that we will eventually be holding our bottle in place and the best thing about this mosaic is that it has these little dots that outline the center so I just picked a dot and that's how I was able to level it out on both sides of the bottle. I also placed the bottle. down and made sure everything hung straight and even and then, once I identified the other hole I needed drilled I went ahead and grabbed my drill and ran it through once both holes were drilled I grabbed my old iced coffee bottle. and I put it there and then zip tied it to secure it in the back.
This Dollar Tree Iced Coffee is also delicious, so not only do you get a great bottle to DIY, but it also tastes great to add a little definition to the top of my glass bottle, I took a little bit of gray paint and painted the entire top, something I do quite often to add a hanger. If I don't use jute, I usually use a soda tablet, so I took one of these. of my sparkling water cans and some hot glue and then I placed it in the center of the back of the sign and that's going to be what's holding our sign up.
I really liked the monochrome look of this sign, so I just went with the daisies, of course. which I got from the dollar tree and placed them in my glass bottle. I left the grayscale of this DIY, but I also think it would be really pretty if you added some bright colors for a nice spring touch. The next farmhouse DIY is a hexagonal floral wall decor piece. Here is everything you will find. I need to recreate this DIY. The dollar tree currently has these hexagonal signs. This one says welcome and I think there is another one that says family.
I used my putty knife to remove the welcome sign which I can use for a future DIY. I simply peeled off the rest of the sign, sanded the rough edges, and painted it with some dark brown paint. I'm going to use tower blocks from the dollar tree children's section around my sign, so I just took some stain and a microfiber cloth and I'm just staining all of my tower wood blocks before hot gluing them, I simply placed them over my sign to trace out how I wanted them to look and then when I was happy with how it looked, I took my hot glue gun and individually hot glued each flipping tower block around the edge of my hexagon sign to create the pocket area where my flowers will be stored.
I just grabbed a piece of foam core board from the school supplies section at the dollar tree and now I'm just laying out a small section that I can place on top of my sign. I was originally going to use a pink technique to try to make this foam core board look like real wood and then I remembered I had some wood look scrapbook paper so I cut it the same way and then in case any of the edges were peeking out or the flowers didn't cover everything, I went ahead and just painted the entire foam board piece with dark brown paint again in case any piece of this wasn't covered by the scrapbook paper, it wouldn't be bright white and would blend more into the background.
I used a normal paper. glue stick to adhere the scrapbook paper on top of our foam core board piece and then I applied some hot glue to the outside edges of our hexagon sign and placed our foam core board piece snuggly to our sign and left about a half inch of space so I could fill in some of these really pretty dollar tree flowers almost every time I do a flower arrangement I try to have a filler, which is what you see me putting in right now and then I tried to have a thriller which is my most exciting or prettiest piece and I want it to be the centerpiece which will be this set of peach blossoms and this larger pink flower and then I like to have a spiller so I have some of these white flowers that are going to Go over the border and this longer piece of greenery I'm going to have hanging all over our hexagon sign and when it comes to flowers, it really comes down to personal preference and the types of flowers and shapes I'd like to see on the decor pieces. your home.
Another tip is that I don't usually hot glue my flowers, especially when I'm making an arrangement like this because I like to play with different sizes and layers, so I try not to get too hot. glue it up because I like to go back in and play with it, even when I hung it up I went back in and started shaping the flowers in a different way. The next DIY is a wildflower candle holder. Here are the materials you need to recreate it. I'm using all the dollar tree flowers in this DIY and I took four and placed them at twelve, three, six and nine around my glass jar, then went in with some shorter flowers. along with some bits of greenery between the flower spaces, then I had these little bright purple buds and some white ones that I also placed around the glass jar, although it is very hot glue that holds all of our flowers around the glass jar that I wanted to put some jute around the center of the glass jar to make it look like it was actually the jute holding all of our flowers.
I wrapped it four times and then created a double bow with some jute. I simply separated my index and middle fingers. However wide it is, it will determine how big or small your double arch is, then you go under it and then with that little tail you will go between the v that has formed between your index and middle finger. after passing it through the v, you will place it under the last little loop you made over your middle finger and pull. There are tons of tutorials on how to do this spell on youtube so if I didn't explain it.
As easily or correctly for you, you can go ahead and simply search YouTube for how to make a double loop bow. Then the last step was to simply hot glue it to the front of my candle and cut out the tails. This next decor piece actually uses a salt and pepper shaker here are the other supplies you will need to make this DIY. I started with this little wooden sign that I bought from the dollar tree during Christmas time, in fact, after Christmas, a good tip is to go after the holidays because they usually have decorative Christmas signs and all that, two for one dollar, which is a great deal, but they sell them all year round.
The sayings will vary a little depending on the season or holiday, so I bought some of this white chip. black paper from the hobby lobby I buy it when they have it on sale for 50 cents and this will be the background of our wood decor piece so I'm cutting it out and I took a regular glue stick to adhere this. down on our wood decor piece and did it horizontally so it looked a little more like shiplap instead of wood paneling and then just pressed it down with my fingers to make sure it stayed in place.
Next I'm grabbing a set of salt and pepper shakers that I bought from the dollar tree and I really liked the cute shape of these little glitter containers and I thought they would be perfect to use for crafts so I grabbed one of them and then a little of my really chalky white wave. I painted and painted the entire salt shaker and then went in with a stippling brush that I got from the crafter's square section and some brown paint to distress our decor piece and add a little more feminine or delicate touch to this DIY.
I took some lace ribbon that I had and hot glued it to the salt shaker and wrapped it all the way around, then I went in with some jute and wrapped some jute around the top area where those salt shaker ridges are and added a little bit of glue hot every few times I went around the salt shaker just because the ridges were pushing the jute in one place and I also thought maybe something was missing from the salt shaker so I went ahead and made a jute bow and hot glued it on the front to fill the floral base of my salt shaker.
I took some flowers from the dollar tree, these were some lavender sprigs and I ended up using three of them and just putting them in my salt. stirrer, you can hot glue them on, but I just glued them on for the saying on our decor piece. You can use some letter stickers or even dollar tree stickers. I ended up using some scrap vinyl I had lying around, it worked great. for this project and then I hot glued my vase onto the little shadow box and my farmhouse decor was complete. This DIY really shows that you can use almost anything in a DIY, even something usually found in the food section.
I was very inspired. The flowers and colors from my first DIY, so I continued the blue violet trend in this next DIY, here is everything you will need to recreate it. I bought this beautiful tin at my local thrift store for only 98 cents, so I thought it worked. perfect for making a diy dollar tree. I love the galvanized look of this can, but I tried decoupage and you couldn't see anything, so I removed everything, removed the napkin, removed the mod podge and tried again. I painted it white first, so I painted the entire can white. I used Waverly chalk paint, then I took these beautiful napkins and just cut around the flowers and will use them all over the bottom of our can.
I have these. napkins for 98 cents at ambat, but I know the dollar tree also has some really nice summer napkins right now, so you might be able to find something there now to start unpacking this. I wanted to work with a smaller area, so I cut it out. half and then I drink my mod podge. I have to make sure I say it right. I always say mod podge and it is mod podge, but it's hard when the words just come together, but what I did was apply a little bit. first, then place the napkin on top and then I went over it with the mod podge and I like to work with smaller sections instead of one huge piece.
You'll see me cut this huge piece a little bit because it's easier to work with the napkin wrinkles less. I think when you're working with a really big space, it can get wrinkled and maybe a little bit of a tilt doesn't end up perfectly straight, so it's easier to work with a smaller piece. Also fussy I cut out some pieces of the actual hydrangeas, some larger pieces that were on the napkin and placed three of those sporadically right in the front of our floral base. I wanted something to break up this dark whiteness of the vase, so at first I tried lace, but I didn't really like how it looked, so I ended up using a white rickrack and just placed it around the slit, these purple flowers, I thought they were lavender, but the labels said something else, some name with an a. but I thought they were so beautiful when I saw them on the dollar tree.
I know they're not hydrangeas like on the napkin, but I thought they worked really well together, so I went ahead and put this on our base. Next we have a farmhouse decor piece using a dollar tree shower ring here are the other supplies you will need to make this DIY. These easels used to be hard to find, but lately every time I go to the dollar tree they are always sold out. stored in the Crafter Square section, so that makes me happy. I think they are just a staple now at the Dollar Tree. I am using this for our DIY and all areas that have wood finish.
I'm going to take my Waverly. white chalk paint and just paint everything white. I originally thought about painting the actual easel and then realized it was a dry erase easel. I've seen real dollar tree dry erase easels, chalk easels, and canvas easels and I guess I thought. this was canvas for some reason, but it wasn't, it was dry erase, so I ended up using some mod podge, as well as some scrapbooking paper from the hobby lobby, and as the center of our piece decoratively we are going to use a shower ring. I bought these plastic ones from the dollar tree.
I think you have like six or eight in a pack. You got a good amount for only a dollar and I added some mod podge around it and then some Spanish moss where I finished it off. with hot glue after this too the mod podge worked but it was much quicker to work with when I just used hot glue to attach the Spanish moss and then used some more dollar tree flowers to accent our little wreath so I took These little white flowers and then I took the purple twigs to add a little color to our wreath.
The dollar tree always has really beautiful flowers. I think 99 of the flowers I use in the videos come from the dollar tree, so I recommend checking Out the Dollar Tree for your flowers before you go and spend a lot of money at Michael's or the hobby lobby. Then I just centered the wreath in the middle of our easel and took some hot glue and hot glued it on. I wanted a little more embellishment on the wreath, so I took some raffia that I actually had left over from fall, although I see the dollar tree had already taken it out, and then I just made a little bow on the top of our crown and I stuck it with gluehot. free printable that I wanted to share with all of you.
It's more of a free printable, not really a DIY, although I did make this frame in one of my Valentine's Day videos. I made it with two dollar tree frames, they are faux wood frames. from the dollar tree came out in early 2021 but they've had them all year and I ended up using a miter saw just to create this multi-dimensional look and then I ended up painting it white with some chalk paint so I'll go ahead and link that above if you want to make the frame otherwise I'll be sure to link this really beautiful okay with my soul principle in the description box below the next DIY is a welcome sign using some brass rings from the dollar tree, this is what you need most if you want to recreate this DIY.
I found this three piece brass crown ring set that was a mouthful at the dollar tree and it was such an amazing deal I can't believe they had three of these for only one dollar it was a great deal if you see them on your tree dollar definitely pick them up because they are a gorgeous item and again I can't believe it's a dollar but I say it a lot and the dollar tree always amazes me so I bought this smaller welcome wreath and found it near the craft and I found the biggest brass rings actually near the gardening section and to join these two together I'm taking some jute and just wrapping it around the top so that our welcome ring is now sticking to our largest brass ring.
I also wanted to give you other options. I have seen many brass welcome ring signs, but in case you can't find them, you can always use one. Of these galvanized signs found in the craftsman square section, after wrapping the jute around the two rings, I added a little hot glue to each end of the conduit just to make sure it didn't slip or move anything. It's the really fun part or at least it was for me and that is arranging all these beautiful dollar tree flower arrangements. I didn't know if you guys were interested in seeing how I make my flower arrangements and all my flower arrangements. so I went ahead and made one instead of showing it to you guys, let me know in the comments below if it's something you want to see more of or maybe a tutorial on how to create flower arrangements, but as you can see, I only used a few flower arrangements. masking tape and some floral wire to hold everything together and yes, that's all the dollar tree flowers that are currently available.
I loved all the different shades of peach to tie together all the different flowers and some of the leaves on the flower. For the arrangement I used floral tape, but then to attach the floral arrangement to the actual brass ring I used floral wire and I didn't even have to use that much. I did two in the center area near the largest flower and then I did two in each. from the ends of the flower arrangement and here I ended up putting another one right under that larger flower just because that's the heaviest part of the arrangement and I wanted to make sure it stayed in place.
The last step is to add a hanger to our wreath, so I took a piece of jute and split it in two, then tied a knot at the end and hot glued it to the back of the wreath. If anyone is having trouble finding supplies, I've seen the brass. welcome signs several times on my dollar tree, but I know the three piece brass rings are a little harder to find, but if you can't find them, I suggest using one of the tomato pots the dollar tree sells. dollar. They are available right now and they come with three rings and all you would have to do is take some metallic spray paint and spray it on and you will have your very own brass ring.
The next craft in today's video is a trinket tray with a faux leather handle. These are all the supplies you will need to make this DIY. To start this DIY, I flipped the oven lid over so the four little plugs on the bottom were facing me and simply covered the whole thing with modge podge because we're going to put down some tissue paper in a moment. I loved the really brightly colored floral tissue paper I showed in the supplies section, but I ended up choosing this greener one that had a lot of plants on it and I just put it on top of the mod podge and then around those little grip foot areas , I just pushed down to make sure the tissue paper was around that little area and not just on top of it and I made sure to put the tissue paper right side down because when we flip the oven lid you want that side showing, then with all the excess I just trimmed it off with a pair of scissors, once I liked how the tissue paper was laid out I flipped the oven lid over. again on top of the tissue paper, I just put one more layer of mod podge to seal everything in place.
Now I'm using some rope around my oven cover. I found this in the craftsman square section and it's called The Nautical Jute Rope and what I'm doing with this is placing it on the outside edges of the oven cover so I'm not placing it on top of the oven cover but along along the edges and then I just press down, I just use hot water. glue to make this stick and once I had it completely done I simply cut the rope and hot glued it to finish our first layer, then I used the nautical rope again and hot glued it directly on top of the previous rope I simply we placed it, so we're not going to put it on the inside or outside of the rope, but directly on top of it like this, it creates a more dimensional decorative piece and this rope is a little bit different from the mesh tube that I showed you. the supplies video so this is just me showing you the label of what it looks like when you look at the dollar tree and once we were done with the nautical rope on our tray it was time to move on to the handles and creating the handles.
I'm using some of this faux leather ribbon found on the dollar tree and just estimated the links. I didn't measure anything and just stuck the tape under our future tray to see what position. I liked it, I tried some longer handles, some shorter handles and this is just what I ended up liking, so once I found the length that seemed perfect to me, I went ahead and hot glued it on and then cut off the excess and then I moved on to our On the second handle, you can see again that I'm just laying out the tape at different lengths to see how it matches up better.
I would recommend cutting two exact pieces before you decide to hot glue them because again I was just estimating so I was trying to figure out if they actually matched up but once I thought I had the lengths I went ahead and hot glued the ribbon and then I cut off the excess and then these gold push pins are an optional addition, you can leave the tray as is, but To make it look even fancier I wanted it to look like these push pins were actually holding the ribbon instead of the hot glue so I went ahead and I took two per side and pushed them through the knot of the rope and the The good thing is that the new rope was thick enough that the small part of the thumbtack wouldn't go through, but if yours is a little longer, it would What you can do is simply put a dot of hot glue on the pointed end. thumbtack and then you don't have to worry about it accidentally poking you.
I love how this tray turned out. I think adding those gold thumbtacks gave it another

high

-end touch. The next DIY in today's video is a hanging planter. Here's everything you need to make your own. The first step in this DIY will be to grab a bunch of falling tower blocks. I think I have 12 in there or eventually I will have 12 and I'm just dying them with a brown dye and I was actually. of my Waverly dye so I made my own by taking some dark brown paint and mixing it with water to create my own dye and I'm also going to use some wooden beads in this DIY to make it a little easier. to paint them I put them all on a kebab stick that way they were all in one line and it was a little easier to paint and then I did the exact same thing using my homemade brown dye, I covered all of our wooden beads and Once all this It was dry, it was time to start assembling and it was a lot of fun.
It reminded me of playing Legos as a kid and I was actually using three but decided they were too big for at least what happened. I had it in mind, so later in the video I take it apart and change it from three falling tower blocks to two, so if you want to create the one you saw at the beginning of this video, then you don't have to. same mistake that I made and you can go ahead and start with two, but what I'm doing is I'm placing the three in this video and then the two beads and then I added another layer and I made three

high

ones so that each side would have nine of these blocks of falling towers and in this clip you can see that I went from three falling tower blocks long to just two so I'm just fixing this and changing the beads from the third falling energy block to the second and once I'm done from changing the length of the three rotating tower blocks to just two and adding those round wooden beads.
It was time to start putting together my plant hanger, so I grabbed a few more rotating tower blocks and I think I used four total on the ends. and then I hot glued the front and back of the plant hanger, so now we were starting to have a little box shape for our plants to fit into, then I placed three more tower blocks on the bottom to act as floor. For our hanger to create the actual hanger for our pot, I simply took a long rope of jute cord, placed it behind that round bead, and pulled it three times on each side to create a little texture and pattern with the jute. and then after I had placed it three times around each side, I simply tied it to the front of the round bead and cut the smaller piece and then the longer piece will help us act as our hanger.
I tied the four ropes. tie a knot on the top and then add a ring, then you could put a dollar tree clay pot inside the pot and put a plant or some flowers in if you wanted it to be a hanging flower arrangement, but I really liked the look. From simply taking one of the dollar tree succulents and placing it directly into the pot, next we will create a faux ceramic floral vase. Here's what you'll need to do it. I'm going to start by taking some painter's tape and wrapping it completely around this face, I bought this vase with some flowers in it and I really liked all the different shapes, like the geometric shapes, so I wanted to save it for a DIY and I decided today was the day to give him my painting. a ceramic look, I'm using baking powder now I used baking soda at first and it didn't work at all.
I know I've seen quite a few YouTube videos where people say you can use baking soda, so maybe I'll try it because it's cheaper than baking powder, but it just didn't work for me at all. I'm not sure why maybe it was the paint I was using but the baking powder ended up working perfectly so I just sprinkled it on and didn't measure it. anything, it's probably like a tablespoon or two, but basically you want to get the consistency. I thought it looked like vanilla ice cream from Wendy's, if that makes sense it will definitely be thick, like a milkshake and another tip so you can see I'm painting this vertically don't do that and when I come in with the second layer I'm going to change it to paint on horizontal stripes without doing this vertical technique and that is because I was watching a video of a YouTuber and she makes ceramics and she was also doing this technique.
I'll link her video below because she has some really great tips on why you

should

use baking powder instead of baking soda when you're trying to get that faux pottery effect and she said that potters, when they actually make their clay creations, The lines move horizontally, not vertically, so a dead giveaway, he said, is that if you're trying to create your own faux pottery you're going vertically because you see the brush strokes and you want to make sure those brush strokes go horizontally, not vertically, so here is a much better video of what consistency should look like.
It almost looks like putty to me and I'm curious if I could actually use glitter or what that effect would look like. I like it but this is the effect baking powder gives and I found the baking soda was more like chalk paint not that thick ceramic thing I wanted but again leave a comment below if you created the ceramic look fake with baking soda. I definitely could have been using enough or too much, but again you can see that I'm moving horizontally and you can see thosebrush strokes. Once all the paint was dry, I removed the painter's tape and was left with a nice painting.
I cleaned up the edge and then instead of just doing a green on top, I wanted to outline these really cool triangles that are on this face, so I taped them on and I'm going to use brown paint using the exact same spraying technique. . in some baking powder mixing it and then applying it down and I ended up using two coats of this brown paint mixture and after it dried completely I removed all the blue tape and then taped it back on because now we go To add some color to our vase, so I taped where the brown triangles were so they wouldn't get ruined and then I just went in with green paint all over and gave it about two coats.
I'm not going to add baking soda. for this section I just wanted the bottom and this to be simple green paint and after all of our green paint had dried I started to remove the blue painter's tape but because the brown was a little raised there was some areas where the green was bleeding through so all I did was take a brush and just touch up those areas and there were one or two triangles that I thought looked pretty bad so I went ahead and put more painter's tape and just redid the brown triangles, but I only had to do it on one because for the most part the painter's tape kept the green out and after doing a few minor touch-ups our vase is complete, we have the ceramic bottom and the Painted Lid DIY uses a few supplies of dollar tree wood to turn a perpetual calendar into a desk organizer perfect for jotting down shopping lists.
This is what you need to be the first step in this DIY, it will basically be painting everything white. Things have a very farmhouse look, so I wanted them to be white with a little bit of distressed brown, so I'm painting some of those falling tower blocks, as well as two wooden planks. I ended up removing the cross back from my perpetual calendar and painting too. that white, but I left the dice blocks within the same color which were white with brown letters and numbers. If you're enjoying this video so far and are excited to see what farmhouse DIYs I come up with, be sure to subscribe. below and hit the notification bell below we're going to start putting together our organizer and I just grabbed the two wooden boards.
I tried using wood glue at first, but it didn't dry fast enough while I was holding it, so I went back to the old hot glue and made this into an L shape, I guess you would say, and that will be the backing of our organizer. I just placed the perpetual calendar below, I didn't glue it, this is just for my own reference and now I'm starting to make what I call a pencil holder. You could also put other supplies in it, but I thought writing utensils would probably be the most likely thing to use for this and everything else I'm making.
What I do is hot glue three of the tower blocks that fall on top of each other to make a wall and once I have all four sides I will glue them together to create my writing utensil holder and once I have the four sides glued with hot glue. so I'm going to hot glue it onto the base wood board and I want it to be in the middle because I want to leave some space in the back where you can put notebooks or personally my kitchen is right next to the front door, so usually our mail is left on one of the kitchen counters so I thought it would be perfect.
You could put envelopes and mail behind the writing utensil holder and perpetual calendar, so I left a little room there once I had the space figured out. I hot glued the tower blocks that fell onto the base and as you can see, they fit perfectly with the pencil and marker. This perpetual calendar is one of the dollar tree ones that came out for Christmas and I'm hot gluing it to the side. the towers that fall now, the way they had the dice and the numbers, they put the month at the top and then the numbers at the bottom and it looks very pretty that way, but it's not practical because every day, when you take them out, you're going to have I had to take out the months as well, so I ended up putting the months on the bottom and then put the date numbers on top to make it easier to change them every day and then lightly dry brushed them with a brush. dark brown paint just to add a little more farmhouse feel to the overall look.
I didn't want to add too many embellishments to this DIY because I know it will be full of notebooks, mail, pens and pencils, but I couldn't. I couldn't help myself and had to add a little jute bow to the front for an embellishment. A farmhouse DIY takes a dollar tree cutting board and transforms it into a farmhouse kitchen decor piece. Here are all the supplies you'll need to create. this project on your own to start this diy i'm taking my dollar tree plastic cutting board and some jute that i got from the crafter's square section and all i'm doing is wrapping the jute around the handle of this cutting board and you.
I'll see that every couple of loops I make, I take a hot glue gun and just apply a little bit of glue because the cutting board is plastic, the jute can slide and slide on it so just putting the hot glue on will ensure to Make sure everything stays in place so you can complete the entire top handle of this cutting board. I used the same piece of jute to go around the entire top circular part and then once I was done going around the circular part, I just laid it flat. All the way down to the neck of the cutting board, this technique ends up using a lot of jute, so make sure you have a large spool on hand, but I love the farmhouse feel it adds to the main image cutting board that I'm going for. to place on the cutting board is from the farm calendar that came out last year, although I've seen it, I think probably about twice as many on the dollar tree recently, so if you see the farmers market calendar, be sure The Boys chose it because it has some beautiful images inside.
This particular image had a lot of dark navy blues as borders and backgrounds, so I wanted to incorporate a little of that into the cutting board distressing. I also ended up adding a little bit of brown because I didn't want it to be too blue, then I took some mod podge to adhere the image to the cutting board and again I always use this technique of taking an old gift card and using it to soften the image to make sure there are no air bubbles, I also went over the cutting board and all the paint and paper image with a little more modification, since this is going to be in my kitchen, I wanted it to be splash proof , so I wanted to have some sealant and the finishing touch on this cutting board decorative piece was to add a farmhouse look bow, so I added that to the top of the cutting board.
You got a quick preview in the previous DIY, but now I'm going to show you in-depth how to recreate your own farmhouse milk jug. Here are the supplies you will need. I'll start this DIY by placing a dairy cow sticker on my fake milk jug if you don't have a cow sticker. or a sticker, you can simply print a silhouette image of a dairy cow on Google Images and stick it on or put some masking tape on the back and tape it on. I'm painting the inside of the milk jar brown where the cow is like that. when I remove the decal after covering the jar and white chalk paint, I will be left with a brown silhouette where the decal currently is.
I'm painting the interior instead of directly under the decal because when I remove the decal from the hood, it actually has this on it. strong, sticky texture and I was afraid that when I removed it it would also remove the paint that was directly underneath, so again that's why I'm painting inside the jar instead of outside while the inside of the jar dries. some white chalk paint and now I'm painting the entire outside of the milk jar, even going over the cow decal and I went over this about two times cutting as usual with any farmhouse decor DIY I'm doing.
I always like to get it a little dirty because I don't want it to look new, so I'm just going to use a dry brushing technique and a little bit of brown paint and just do strokes of paint around the top of the milk. jar and then down the sides to make it look a little worn. Also fun fact I forgot to mention that this fake milk jar is from the dollar tree and is actually in the food section, it is an iced coffee which is delicious and the bottle is great to reuse for DIY. I'm using a sharp tool I have, it looks like something your dentist would use on you, and I'm just using it to help peel off the cow vinyl that's underneath all that paint. into the bottle and once I got the first part up it came out pretty easy.
I just used my fingers to peel it off and was very happy to report that none of the paint came off. I was afraid some of the paint would peel off. The white would come off and you can see that when I'm removing that decal, the brown that we painted inside the bottle earlier is what's showing and it makes the cow brown instead of light. I love the finish that chalk paint leaves, but This will be a practical item. I'll have it in my kitchen, maybe put a little flour on some utensils so I know I'm going to use this a lot and when you have something covered in chalk paint.
The top of the glass is going to chip unless you put a sealant on it or at least that's what I've learned from my experience, so I put a little mod podge over it all so that no paint would chip in the end. The little detail I added to this milk jar was to take some jute and wrap it around the top of our milk bottle. In this video there is a chicken wire floral frame. Here is everything you will need to make this on your own, I am starting this DIY using one of my favorite dollar tree frames.
I think I've used like four of these and the DIYs are so beautiful, it's this beautiful faux wood, if you see these frames definitely pick them up because they are perfect for DIYs. I love the texture of wood because no matter what color paint you put on it, that texture still shows through and for this particular DIY I'm going to take a pretty light gray color and go over the frame. twice I don't want it to be a very thick layer, but I do want it to be covered and as you can see the faux wood texture is still peeking out to hang the flowers in this DIY, I'm taking this glass bottle. and painting it with a little white chalk paint.
I mentioned this in last week's DIY where I made a fake milk jug, but these glass bottles are actually iced coffee bottles that you can buy at the Dollar Tree. Not only is iced coffee really delicious, but I love the shape of them and they are great to use for all your DIYs and of course it wouldn't be a farmhouse DIY video of me if I didn't get this beautifully painted glass jar dirty. I just did. I love to add a little. a little bit of brown paint to distress things, I think it adds a farmhouse feel and makes everything not look so new, so I'm just taking a dry brush and some brown paint and going over this jar that I was so excited to see this chicken wire on my dollar tree.
I have seen many other YouTubers and DIYers. Find it on your dollar tree, but this is the first time I've seen it on mine and I'll tell you, if you have some gloves, you might want to put them on. Put them on because this chicken wire was a little hard and painful on the hands, it definitely stings so I support anyone who has chickens or uses chicken wire because this material is not soft and all I did was unroll it and it came out. a long sheet again, it was a little difficult to work with this material at first when I unrolled it, I just wanted it to appear again in its rolled form, so I took two of my big books, so we got Dracula and great expectations there and just them I placed on top of the chicken wire and left them for about 30 minutes because I wanted the chicken wire to be a little easier to work with and not keep showing up, the books helped keep it from showing up so a lot but as you can see when i lined up the chicken wire on the top of the frame i put the two books on one end and i'm using binder clips to keep the chicken wire in place so i added hot glue to attach the chicken wire and then the binder trimmed it and this was a bit of a long process but it was the only way I could get the chicken wire to stay down with the hot glue, I'm sure if you had a staple gun it would work too but no I haveone with such hot glue and I found that a slightly quicker process was to simply use the binder clip to hold down the chicken wire and then just go over it with hot glue once the glue dried I was able to easily remove the binder clips of the dry glue and the chicken wire and it sped things up a bit so I just attached the binder clips and then used the hot glue just making sure all the chicken wire was in place and it wasn't going to pop up on me to cut the chicken wire.
This is a little tip I got from my friend sammy at Unicorn Dust Designs and she recommended these dog nail clippers found at Dollar Tree and they work amazing, they cut through everything with chicken wire pegs, this is a really great tool that costs a dollar and now you will continue attaching the binder clips and hot gluing the chicken wire to the frame. I know the dollar. The square section of Tree Crafter has some of those clamps that you can get that would work too or you know you could use binder clips like I do. I'm pretty sure I have those clamps somewhere around my craft bin, but I couldn't find them in At this point, the binder clips came in handy once I had all three sides of the chicken wire attached to the frame.
I used those dog nail clippers to trim off the excess chicken wire and then continued the exact same process using hot glue. and binder clips to adhere the last side of the chicken wire to my frame, then I set the chicken wire frame aside and started working on the glass bottle. I started with the bottle by taking some jute and wrapping it completely. On the top of our glass bottle, I made this because I think it adds a really cute farmhouse touch to the glass bottle and two because this will help us when we place the bottle on the chicken wire frame to place the bottle on the chicken wire, I'm taking a longer piece of jute and wrapping it around the bottom section of the neck of our glass jar and then simply tying a knot to secure it in place after I've placed the knot behind the neck of the glass jar. glass I went ahead and placed it on top of the chicken wire frame and figured out exactly where I wanted to place it, then I put the little jute threads through the chicken wire to find out exactly where I wanted to tie it, now this is where I ran into a little problem because when I turned the frame over to tie the bottle in place I realized that this chicken wire was super sharp and if I didn't do something when I hung this it was going to scratch the I removed the paint from my walls pretty quickly.
I trimmed the chicken wire as best I could, but it was still very sharp and I didn't want to ruin my walls, especially since I rent, so I just went over all those little sharp edges. I aimed a glue gun and it created a sort of barrier between the sharp wire and my wall, so it worked great. You can also place some felt fabric on top, but the easiest way was to just go over it with some hot glue. A little trick that I do for a frame if it doesn't have a stand or something on the back like this doesn't is: I take a soda can tab or a seltzer label, if you will, and I just use hot glue. that on the back and acts as the perfect holder for our photo frame, also if you're wondering what that little black tag is, it's actually a pipe cleaner and I used it to hold the place where I wanted the bottle to be when I gave it the I turned around and realized I had to go over everything with hot glue after securing the bottle to the chicken wire frame using the nice, simple knot.
I added some flowers as embellishment, as well as a small jute bow on the front. I had a lot of fun creating this DIY and using chicken wire for the first time and definitely plan to use it in the future. The modern farmhouse DIY is a chandelier made from a tuna can. Here's what you need to create this great looking DIY. During the day and even better at night, to start this simple DIY, I took this little glass jar that I bought from the dollar tree in the set and painted it white with some chalk paint while the glass jar was drying .
I moved on to my can of tuna and yes, you heard right. I'm using a used tuna can in this DIY, but don't worry, I let it soak for a long time in lots of soapy water and cleaned it very thoroughly so there's no fishy smell and if you are, I'm going to use a can of tuna in this DIY, make sure you clean it well because you don't want your candle to smell and it's similar to what I did with the glass jar. I'm just covering our can of tuna and a little bit of this white. chalk paint after our white paint has dried, it will serve as a base and now I'm going to move on to this faux galvanizing technique which ends up looking like a concrete texture as well and it's very easy to do, it only requires a couple There are many steps and a lot of repetitions, but once you get the hang of it, although it takes a little time, it is very easy to do.
I'm using a small piece of kitchen sponge, but you can also use a small piece of sponge. sponge brush, you can also find them at the dollar tree and I'm just taking a little bit of gray paint and in all kinds of different directions and different pressures, I'm just sponging on that gray paint and after I've sponged with the gray paint on the glass jar. I'm going to move on to the canned tuna. You're not actually going to see the inside of the tuna can, so I'm just going to dab it with a little bit of gray paint, but I'm using that sponging technique all over the can. outside now to start really creating that cool effect, I'm doing the exact same thing but with black paint, so I'm using the sponge and going all over the glass jar with the black paint again using different pressures, different directions and just going all over parts.
Also, there's no really right way to do this, the only thing you want to avoid is going in the same direction or using the same pattern because you want it to look messy and messy, you don't want it to be uniform next. I went in with another coat of gray paint and now you can understand what I meant when I said it's easy to do, it just takes a little time because you're putting on one coat waiting for it to dry and then putting on. another and I went over it very well with my last coat of gray paint.
I just wanted a little bit of black to show through, but again you can adapt this to your preferences once you've done all the painstaking painting. The part is over and now it's pretty easy from here. I just flipped the glass jar over, added some hot glue and then glued the tunican jar on top of the glass jar and then grabbed one of these larger dollar tree glass jars that fit. perfectly inside the tuna can and lastly, it's time to add your candle. I loved this silver one I found at the dollar tree. I thought it went perfectly with this DIY, but you could also add a tea light.
I lived in an apartment, so I didn't want to make a wooden round for my front door, so I wanted to make one like a lazy susan that I could put on my coffee table. I bought this lazy susan from ikea and I think it cost about seven or eight dollars. so it's not expensive at all, but this is where the problem arose because of course this is a finished piece of wood and on all of Sammy's wood rounds, she is working with the unfinished wood round, she will sand them and then stain them, but I didn't want to sand this one, so I thought I'd try using the Waverly stain and see what happened and surprisingly, spoiler, this ended up working really well and came out really great.
The only trick was that you have to wait until the dye is completely dry and you will see that I am using a microfiber cloth just like Sammy recommends. I got this one from the dollar tree and I'm making very precise even, smooth lines all over the wood as this stain is just going to set. Plus our wood rounds, you know it's a finished wood round, so it won't seep into the wood like it normally would. You have to be very careful with the design you make, so I'm making those straight lines to mimic the grain of the wood. but if you did a zigzag or a different pattern, the dye will dry in whatever pattern you're using, so I'm going very slowly, very methodically and just doing these lines, I only filmed myself doing the first layer, but I finish.
I'm doing two coats and I love the rich color it gave it and it really ends up looking like the wood grain. I was very impressed. I'll link below the exact video I'm following from sami at Unicorn Death Designs, but basically it's I'm Gonna Get Stripes. I'm going to use some paint and first I need to find the center because I'm going to tape the center and paint one side of this, so I had to get out the tape measure and try to figure out what the center was, which was a little difficult because it kept going around so it took me a little while and then once I found a center I went ahead and just taped it down.
I'm using some paint tape from Dollar Tree and it's done. working pretty well, I know Sammy recommends using Scotch Brianna paint tape and I ordered it on Amazon and it kept saying delay in my delivery, so later in the video I have that tape which I thought worked much better, but you know, in worst case scenario Dollar Tree still worked so the next part is a total fail and I almost edited this whole thing out but then I thought it would be a good learning experience for everyone so Sammy uses a paint roller to apply his paint on his wooden rounds but All I had was this dollar tree paint and I thought all the brushes were the same but apparently not because I went ahead and put some paint on it it was just a paint sample that I got for free at Home Depot and I started winding it and it wasn't going very well but it still did the job and this is when I realized oh no there are hairs on my wood all around the brush that was coming off all of them. these little fluffs, it was everywhere, it had so much texture.
It was a mess, luckily the paint hadn't dried yet and I quickly ran and grabbed a wet paper towel and I was able to start over and the stain stayed so I just went in with this little sponge brush from the square section from the Dollar Tree Crafter that I love using and ended up using that little sponge brush to paint everything, so I would recommend using a big sponge brush or go ahead and invest in a nice twist brush. because you don't want all those little fluff and wood rounds left, and here I am removing the painter's tape, it was very satisfying to see a nice, crisp line, there were a couple of little bleeds, but overall it was pretty crisp afterwards.
I'm going to create the stripes on the top half of our wooden Lazy Susan and I finally got the good duct tape and it finally came from Amazon so that's what I'm using. I'll link it below and what I'm doing. In doing the first thing, I thought this was a great tip from Sammy and that is to lay out all the tape and basically use it as a ruler, so I'm going to lay it out and then the sections that I'll end up painting. I'm taking that tape off and I'm going to use it again in a second and that's a lot easier than having to take out the tape measure and measure, actually it's an inch, an inch and a half, so I'm just laying the tape edge to edge and then once I've placed it or where I want it, I'll go back in and remove the excess tape so I can create my stripes and then I'm finishing up. the top area of the wood turns brown before painting and the paint I'm using is Waverly's elephant shade and chalk paint and I ended up using two coats of this shade of paint the first time I used it. being very careful and I was afraid that it might bleed through the tape and it didn't really cover very well, so the second time I went in with a heavier hand and of course I couldn't deny them all the satisfaction of seeing the tape removed. paint and I have to say this paint worked better than, or sorry this paint tape worked better than the dollar tree one, as you can see the lines are really nice and sharp and I was super happy with the end result. adding a stenciled word so the vinyl stencil I'm using is Oracle that's what Sammy suggested and it worked great and the word I chose to use is gather so after placing the stencil and I made sure that was .
It was completely adhered, I went in with a very light coat of mod podge just so that when I go in with my white paint, the mod podge just helps ensure that none of the paint comes off the stencil. I ended up applying two coats of white paint just to make it a nice opaque color and then I just removed the stencil and some of the areas when I was peeling them off I had to use my little cricut weeding tool just to make sure everything was right and weeding and I was pleasantly surprised by this template, there was no bleeding except for a little bit of bleeding on theside and that's where I missed an air bubble so that was my own mistake but other than that the stencil worked great and took off well.
And easy, I was very honored when Sammy asked me to co-host this month's Try It Out show on Tuesday. Sammy has helped me so much with my YouTube channel that I can't even begin to name the ways she has helped me, so I was very happy to make this wooden round in honor of her. I'm starting with what is actually an old dollar tree Easter sign. I just flipped it over and I'm working with the plain cardboard side and then I just cut this out. really cute rainbow svg and place it on the white sign. Now the flowers I'm using are single flowers.
They sent them to me, but they don't pay me to say they're amazing, but I'm going to say it. They are amazing and I love them. They are the same ones Liz used in her video. She also used the sola flowers and they have a huge 70 discount on many of her favorites so I'll put a link. below if you want to see them, but they are great because they are wooden flowers, but they are very soft and malleable. I was surprised when they arrived and they come in a variety of colors or If you want to make your own, they have them plain and you can buy the dye, but I thought they worked great with these rain boots and I really liked the idea of the little flowers that came out of our rain boots, as the flowers were really the focal point of this whole DIY.
I kept the exact same jute hanger that the sign originally came with, so I threaded it through the holes and was done for this next DIY. I'm taking inspiration from my friend Corey at made by Corey I. I saw her do this a couple of months ago I think and it's a pressed flower DIY and I thought it was so cute that I had in the back of my mind wanting to do it for myself account, so I thought giving it a try on Tuesday was the perfect time to give it a try. I'm painting these gold frames in a dark gray color called Waverly Elephant and then letting them dry.
These dollar tree frames come with two pieces of glass, so they are perfect for pressing flowers. Then I picked three pansies that I liked the color that took off the backing the most and then I cut it so it was a little bit more flush, that way my glass could close and I wouldn't break it or anything, so I'm just taking it off. and then I cut the back off and then I arranged them and once I had them arranged the way I liked I took the top glass panel and put it over our pressed flowers and the last step is to just put our glass panels back on in the frame.
You want to be careful with this just because it's going to be a little more 3D because we put some flowers in there and then you just close it. Also, Corey had added a little vinyl flower decal in the corner that I thought was really cute. So I did the same thing with a lavender colored vinyl, one from Betha Dilly here on YouTube. She mainly does Cricut tutorials, but she received so many questions about her cute desk mat that she also made a video on how to make it as well. It's from IKEA and I showed you what it was called.
I definitely couldn't pronounce it, but that's what it's called if you're looking at ikea and then I grabbed some wrapping paper from the dollar tree and all I'm doing is putting little pieces of packing tape on the edges of the dust pad and then I put them on top of the pretty dollar tree wrapping paper and then I just cut around the edges and you have a super cute dust pad that looks like something you'd find on the target. I think it looks high-end and you can change it according to the seasons. It's just wrapping paper and some tape, no glue or anything, so if you want to have one for every holiday, you can change it up.
Take out the wrapping paper thanks for looking. I'll have a new video next Thursday until then, keep searching, keep creating.
