. Interestingly, this is probably one of the most dangerous mistaken identities we will ever encounter. We talked a lot about last time, but let's keep that in front of us. It's dangerous to be wrong about the question: who is he and why is he so dangerous and the other question that will lurk is is he alive today and just to give you that answer up front, I think he is, but it's got a footnote. We'll get into it and how we know and that's what we're going to cover here.

we will focus on his identity. He is called the seed of the serpent. Because? Are there any prerequisites for his appearance? That's another thing we'll deal with. Now we can't cover everything that has been written about it because it turns out that it is one of the most prolific topics in all of Scripture, but we have an appendix that we are going to talk about that will list the different expectations that different groups have.

We'll talk a little about that. Well, let's start by reminding ourselves that There are 4 disciples who came to Jesus for a briefing on the end of times. 4 of them ask about his return. Peter James and John and Peter's brother Andrew and receive a private briefing. It happened to be night on the Mount of Olives, so call it the Mount of Olives Discourse, it's recorded in Matthew 24 and 25, not Luke 21, the way many people are confused by it, it's also practically a duplicate in Mark 13, so any of them will work and the key that Jesus points out to you in that report is a 4 verse prophecy that is probably the centerpiece of all eschatology called the 70 weeks that Gabriel gave to Daniel and It's in 4 verses, verse 24 is the scope, then there are 69 of those weeks that are detailed in what I think is the most notable. verse in the entire Bible Then there is a strange interval and then there is a final week that the last week of years is separated there is an intern between 69 and 70 we will touch on that but the 70th week is the climax of events that simply proceeds that the Lord interrupts with his return.

So let's first take a quick look at the scope to understand what we are dealing with here. Gabriel says in Daniel 70 seven seven are decided upon your people upon your holy city to finish transgressions to make an end of sins to make reconciliation for iniquity to bring eternal justice to seal the vision of prophecy and to anoint the most holy place Now there are 70 sevens in the Hebrew calendar you can have 7 days 7 weeks 7 months or 7 years that is all commonly used here we are talking about 7 years and they are determined about Israel, this is not about the church.

In fact, the church is in an interval, as we will note, the focus here is Israel and the city of Jerusalem and the extent of this can be spoken of. about some of the details that are clearly not complete, but we haven't put an end to the sins and so on, so the visions haven't been sealed, so this is a broad scope of everything eschalogically, but then they are highlighted in Daniel 9:25 69. weeks and it is a mathematical prophecy Gabriel tells Daniel to know, therefore, and understand that from the departure of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem until Mashiach Nagid the Messiah, the King will be sixty, it will be 7 weeks more sixty 2 weeks and the streets will be built again and the wall, even in difficult times, keep in mind that it is not about the temple, it is about the city of Jerusalem and the Holy Spirit to make sure it is not lost, that puts that little clause at the end, but the main point is -- there is a distance between two events, one is the going out of the commandment to rebuild Jerusalem, keep in mind that Daniel was a slave in Babylon at that time and the 70s, the 70 years of captivity that he knows are about to end, probably 67 have passed, and he is getting ready for the climax, but from that commandment until Mashiach Nagid there will be a specific period of time from the commandment to restore Jerusalem until the Messiah the king will be 7 weeks and we are indebted to Sir Robert Anderson who actually discovered the fact that God uses 360 days in both Genesis and Revelation, so 69 times 7 times 360 turns out to be 173,880 days.

Well, we know when it started, we can trace it back in history. It was the decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus on March 14, 445 that gave them the authority to rebuild the city of Jerusalem. Do not confuse it so much with the temple, there are actually 4 different decrees, that is the one for the city of Jerusalem. The question is when the Messiah was allowed to be presented as King and when it is studied. In your gospels you realize that he did not allow it except on one day when he arranged it well, that turns out to be what we call the triumphal entry of April 6.

Now what makes this provocative is and incidentally note that all this was part of the Old Man The Testament was translated into Greek 3 centuries before the ministry of Christ, so for perspective, this was part of what is documented in the translation of the Septuagint into Greek that was done in 285 BC. They believe that more than 1.5 million men, women and children died from the siege in the famine that followed. Now the question is why Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD, you can think of several. There are several ways to rationalize it, but let's look at what Jesus said. We finish verse 44, he says "For you did not know the time of your visitation," that verse is amazing in the implications of it. Okay, week 70 will be verse 27, but I want you to notice that there is a verse between 25 and 27. You and I would assume that they are contiguous, but. It's not because of that verse, okay, what happens in verse 26, let's take a look? Well, now that interval is defined from Luke 9:42 to Romans 11:25 the fullness of the Gentiles is the period of the church is an age that is maintained The secret in the Old Testament Matthew 13 is about Ephesians 3. Let me tell you something interesting, we saw that Daniel 9:26 is an interval in the 70 weeks, there is another in Psalm 34, another in Psalm 118 and we can review others, you will discover that that interval is implicit throughout the Old Testament. I won't accept you, except that it turns out that when you count them, there are 24. Now, from my point of view, that architecture of the Scriptures itself tells you volumes that were deliberately designed so that the Holy Spirit would oversee all those books and preserve them. the fact that that interval appears 24 times, not 23 or 36, not 24, why 24, look at me, that's amazing.

When you think about it, it seems like nothing at first until you think about it, impressive and we've seen the first one. check out the last one before we go through 24 intervals in the Scriptures and of course they were identified last time, remember you can remember them in Revelation 5 "And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book and open its seals for you were slain and you have redeemed us for God with your blood, from every kindred, language, people and nation, and you have made us kings and priests for our God, and we will reign on the earth" kings and priests, the only groups, the only ones people who are the kings and priests are Jesus himself Melchizedek and the 24 elders, that is the key, he has redeemed us, made us and we will reign, so the 24 elders are sitting here in this room, they are in the compound.

Well, notice that the sequence of this is a critical part because there is a lot of controversy about what I am going to tell you: the 24 elders are in heaven worshiping the Lamb before he receives the scroll with the 7 seals. They are worshiping it before receiving the book. That's huge, there are many good scholars who fail to grasp the fact that the church is not going to endure the great tribulation.

Why a white horse is the question? Look, this horseman is not Jesus Christ, I'm surprised how many commenters stumble over that. They miss that this, this rider, is called by one of the cherubs. He apparently is powerful enough to enforce a covenant with Israel. Many are an idiom for Israel here, that's one of the reasons I believe the Holy Spirit used it deliberately. a bow as an identity the bow was the identity of the first world dictator Nimrod and he uses it as an identity of the last, especially since that pact was made and its violation is one of the most significant identities we will see about him. He will confirm the covenant but in the middle of the week he will cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. Now that also tells us that that covenant includes, it may not be limited to, but it includes a return to temple worship which is part of the implications of that covenant and it is in the middle of that week that he breaks his word he breaks that covenant he made a covenant for a week of years in the middle violates it repeals it now that is probably the most documented period of time in the entire Bible is called in one place time times and half time strange linguistics here times is dual it is in Aramaic but then it is eliminated from Aramaic but it was dual in those days then it was lost, so it is singular tense times two 1 plus 2 and 1/2 sounds strange to our ears but a classic way of saying 3 1/2 times and a half times so we don't let's confuse the angel will explain to Daniel in chapter 12 it is 3 1/2 years that is pretty simple in other places it is twice called 42 months the same period of time Then it is called 1260 days and by the way each of these idioms is use in each of the halves each half is called 42 months each half is called 1260 days if you keep track of them all down and that, of course, here is in Daniel 9:27, is called half a week, which is fair enough .

The Holy Spirit did everything but put it into nanoseconds for you and caused the sacrifice and oblation to cease, which tells you the topic includes. The word abomination is a term used throughout the Bible for idol worship. The abomination is worshiping anything other than God. The abomination of desolation is the maximum. extreme of that which is not just worshiping an idol but worshiping it in the most holy place on planet earth in the temple in fact in the most holy place how do we know that because it happened and Jesus refers to the historical event that we'll get to that, let's go back to Revelation 6 "I saw and beheld a white horse and a bow that was carried on it." You might be wondering why I'm making such a big deal about that arc.

I don't think it's incidental, I think it's a deliberate pun by the Holy Spirit It's not a sword, the Hebrew is keh'-sheth, the Greek is toxon, it's not necessarily an archery tool, it's the first mention of the bow is a sign of a covenant, God himself uses that phrase, so there is a law of first mention that we talked about last time the word love first appears in Genesis 22 man is made in the creation of God, the first place where the word appears in the Bible turns out that by observation we noticed that it is very significant and the arch is the sign of a covenant there in Genesis 9 and I believe that it is the intention of the holy spirit to use it here.

Amos 2:15 says: "He who wields the bow will not stand, and he who is fleet of foot will not be saved, nor will he who rides the horse surrender himself." Interesting allusion to the bow, the bow It seems to symbolize both the first world leader, Nimrod, and the last world leader who I like to call Nimrod II. Now, you may remember that in Matthew we were talking about Matthew 24, Revelation 6 has these 4 horsemen that we've been talking about. In fact, something else may be a coincidence, but I think it's curious, it's interesting that the same color of horses, white, red, black and green, are on the flags of Muslim nations. I don't think that's why they're still there, who knows. He left it up to you, but in Matthew 24 it says "You will hear of wars" and rumors of wars and all that "and be careful that you are not troubled by anything." "These things must happen, but the end is not yet" to me, I would call them no signs, yes, they are going to happen, but they are not significant markers, they are what I call no signs, why, because the end is not yet is. when they occur, they don't tell you that the end is there, in contrast to what Jesus is going to point out when he gets to verse 15.

When he gets to verse 15 in Matthew 24, Jesus says, "When you see the abomination of desolation of the one that the prophet Daniel spoke, standing in the holy place, whoever reads, whoever understands the interesting verse, is the key verse in the olive tree speech, in my opinion, it is not optional. The prophecy of the 70 weeks is not an option that you need. study until they have that is yours, but there is another technology statement here. I like to keep an eye on these technology statements "When you therefore see the abomination of desolation" now, the abomination of desolation that we know from history is when Antiochus Epiphanes erected an idol to Zeus in the sacred place. There are others who argue that he. From this verse we learn a lot. The word seed, by the way, is Zera, which is like sowing. offspring manly semen refers to imply descendants posterity children that is what we use that term to mean and from this verse then the seed of the woman becomes a title of the Messiah one of his titles is the seed of the woman and that is how it is used in the Bible in several places and that is well understood. I think most of you have already encountered that in your studies, but what is often overlooked is that another seed is mentioned, the serpent seed.

Wow, does that mean this guy is just a man of Satan or is there a genealogist? link of some kind I don't know, but that's what would be implied, okay? Now there's an interesting passage in Revelation 12, one of these wonderful summary passages that covers a broad spectrum of what's happening here in Revelation 12 and it says, "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of 12 stars and when she was pregnant she cried with labor pains and pain to give birth" and will give birth to a male child.

I've been really worried because I found these verses that say that all the stars in the sky fall to the earth. If you know anything about the stars, that just doesn't work. No, the stars in the sky are idioms for angels. It is an idiom for angels, it is clear "...his tail attracted a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be handed over to devour her son so as soon as he was born" and you can do a study of your Bible to notice how Satan is able to focus his attack.

When he first starts from Genesis 3 on, he picks on Abel and Cane and all that when God starts to make it clear that will work through Abraham Satan can aim his targets at Abraham, since God makes it clear that it will be through David, he can focus his attack on David.
