foreigner, well welcome back to another video on the channel, we are here in the driveway and it is full with just a bunch of trucks, we have the Raptor, as you know this is my first press vehicle and it is obviously from Ford and then uh we have the ram TRX and then we also have the regular Raptor so the main question that I've been asked since the first video of this truck is a

r because these two are by far, the baddest trucks you can find. I can buy high performance off road trucks off the shelf but which one is better in my opinion so that's what we're going to try to find out in today's video so we'll quickly start with the exterior and then the interior obviously the engines and then take them for a spin and then at the end of the video, hopefully, we can start a little race, that's the purpose of today's video, so this is going to be a very real life

The first thing we're going to do is move the r up so it's right next to the TRX, so of course. We need a cold start for that, they have a big improvement from there, it sounds a lot better, so we pushed it through very quickly and since we did a cold start here of course we were able to do one on the TRX as well. and we have a thick exhaust on the TRX, although it's one of the softer ones, so it's not a very loud cold start. I don't think it's a big difference, but here we go, from harassing me more than you.

Guys, which ones were okay, so first, obviously we're going to talk about the engines which are pretty similar, at least as far as performance numbers go, so we'll start with the TRX, which has this big sticky part. Below here is basically the air filter and we have a TRX eating a Raptor, which is funny, but this is a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8, 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque compared to the V8 Ford's 5.2-liter supercharged engine this thing makes. 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, so it's less than two horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque, but as we all know, it's all about the power-to-weight ratio, so Yesterday I bought both.

The Raptors are slightly updated, you know, the front end has mostly the red R or they say it's like code orange or whatever, but it looks red, uh, the orange tow hooks, that little bigger scoop here is slightly different. Graphics, but it's still the same width as a normal Raptor, but which one looks more robust and which one looks better. I think in my opinion the TRX looks meaner now that we have 1350 wide tires on its 35 versus 37 on the raptor r, but it's 1350. It's wider on the TRX, so that seems to make it look A little beefier now for a raptor, you can only get it with 37 inch tires versus 35 for a normal Raptor.
The TRX is 35, although the tires are wider, but yeah, what's yours? I think it looks better now let's take a look at the interiors and I could go on and on with this kind of comparison forever, it gets boring, let's be a bit brief, obviously they are not completely the same, they are different brands, but this is the interior of a Raptor R. We have suede inserts in the seats. We don't have that on that Raptor there, although they are now the same generation, a Raptor, whether it's an R or a regular EcoBoost there we have the fully digitized instrument cluster which is very nice and can be customized depending on the mode in which you want to drive and one thing with the Raptor is we have two high, we have four high, four a and four low as well, of course in a TRX it's always all-wheel drive, you don't have a very high option, so you can't drive a TRX with two wheel drive you have a 12 inch screen it's a big phenomenal rear view camera and everything 360 of course a raptor r comes fully loaded the only options you can choose from are this sunroof here and the colors exteriors so it has all the features, it has heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, 360 camera, adaptive cruise control, lane keep system, all that boring stuff that you don't really need the full power plugs here, your 12 volts, we have them in the back and then you have a department box type setup like a double glove here, the interior of the new generation Fords is extremely nice, you know?
Again, this comes down to opinion once we jump to the ram here, which one do you like better, but yeah, I think maybe Ford beats the ram when it comes to the interior, at least the newer ones, so we'll do that . skip the ram here we have a leather interior now this is a tr1 package you can get a top trim package for the Rams and the TRX where you can get different inserts you know colors and stuff on the interior that kind of thing but we I've got some suede here, we've got suede on the center console right there.
I love the carbon fiber suede here and when we jump in and start it up, it's not a fully digitized instrument cluster, so we have an analog gate just for the tachometer and speedometer. and then obviously the center screen there and then we have more of a vertical screen compared to what the Ford has more square like a mini TV, almost both are great, very responsive, so the backup camera in the RAM It's also great. I don't have a 360 version in this trim package of my TRX here. One thing I don't like about the RAM is that everything is done from the screen, so if I want to turn on the heated steering wheel, I do it here. to go to the screen and make the seat heated also in the Ford, we have buttons down here for things like that, you can also do it on the screen, but you also have real buttons that the RAM doesn't have and that's something I don't do.
I don't like the Rams infotainment screen, all you have to do here, which is a bit annoying now that the Ram has a dual department box, just like the Ford, which is great. I like that part, so I keep my record and safe. and stuff in there, the Ford has an updated sound system called Unleashed, it's got like 18 speakers or something, there's speakers in the headrests and all that and it's supposed to be really good, which in my opinion is not my TRX, too has the system updated. The stereo system is a Harman Kardon and is much better in the Ram than the Ford.
The Ram now has an 8-speed transmission. The Ford has a 10-speed transmission. We'll talk more about that once we get them out on the road. We'll do it right now, okay, so we'll do a pull here on the TRX and then we'll do the exact same pull on the raptor r and you guys can tell the difference between the sounds here, the TRX is a lot. louder sounds great you listen to that blower and it's just that it feels rawer on the TRX versus the raptor r uh and just the driving experience is different too the TRX definitely feels heavier we all know it's 500 pounds heavier and you can actually I feel like that being said, I still think this will take the raptor r from a standstill to 60.
It has something to do with just the transmission and tuning. The TRX also comes with launch control, although I've noticed it doesn't really. It doesn't launch better with launch control, so I never use it. A raptor r doesn't have launch control so basically you press the brake a little and then go for it. I got three and a half seconds from 0 to 60 inches. this truck, uh, that's my best moment and it's crazy for a 6500 pound truck. Now you can also shift manually if you want, so you just move the shifter to the left and then we have paddle shifters here and it's actually pretty sensitive for a truck, the regular Raptor and the EcoBoost are horribly bad when you try to shift it manually.
Look, he actually responds pretty quickly. There has been an improvement to the raptor r that we will also demonstrate here in a second so you can drive a Raptor R manually too, if you want, it has always had these paddle shifters here, but I have always felt that they are completely useless because they shift so slowly, but now there's, actually, it's better, okay, so "We're going to try to do launch control here, so we'll put it in Baja mode, there we go and then that automatically turns off the traction control and we could use the control launch, but we're not going to do it, it's just too complicated and it doesn't really work well.
I've noticed that and then we're going to go out here with some brake boost and do a launch, so now it's ready, It has a performance meter here, which is pretty cool. The Raptor definitely doesn't have that, we're going to wait for this guy to get out of the way here and then we'll launch and see what time we get 3.9, which is the most common time in the one that this thing throws at us so aggressively. It's crazy and it's so consistent like I said, I got three fives, that's my best time and that only happened once, but it's consistent, you know, three nines out there, yeah, this thing.
I love this truck, it's so brutal and the transmission tuning and everything. it just goes off the line, but yeah, uh, let's drive home, change it up, jump in the raptor r and do exactly what we did in the raptor ram and then we'll go head to head so we're in. the raptor r now we're going to do the same group that we did on the TRX and you guys will be able to hear the difference in the sound and check this out overseas it's just weird I don't understand what Ford did uh. with this the sound inside because when you're doing a pull like we just did, it sounds like a sewing machine, it's a weird induction sound.
I don't get it, they should have made it sound more crude, like the TRX, so that's it's very fast and Ford says you know, even though it has the same engine as the GT500, the torque curve on the raptor r is much better than in a GT500 and I would have to admit that I have driven both and the Raptor pulls very well, you can feel the torque throughout the range, so even when you reach speeds it still pulls very well, it feels more torque than a TRX actually, although it has less torque than a TRX but as we mentioned before it seems like Ford has really tuned the transmission because in our current Raptor that we have that's not the r of course it has the same transmission as far as I know it just shifts extremely slow in the r, here it actually changes quite quickly.
Impressed, that's very good, so now you can use these paddle shifters here, so we'll do another little pull here and you guys can inform yourselves regarding the transmission, see at the lower RPM, it sounds pretty good when you put it on. they get. Up there in the RPM it sounds like a sewing machine, get this, oh that's a weird sound, it should just be a louder growl, but the transmission is great, much quicker in the manual sense, so I like it, but all you know are the rumors. What's circulating now regarding the Raptors is that the transmissions are actually malfunctioning.
I think there are already three reported cases of streams blowing up on the Raptors, so yeah, I don't really know what that's all about, but currently I really like this stream on the r, you know, I hope it holds up, though now of course we have to do a little tug on the raptor r, plus it doesn't have a performance meter so we're not going to have the time uh currently. See the markings on the TRX right there, but we have it in four high levels. Traction control is off, we have it in sport mode, so we're going to increase the brakes a little bit here and then we'll get a little pull, oh yeah.
Holy shit, I mean it's fast, without a doubt, it's fast, but it's very hard to tell which one is faster because it's a different experience, like when you put this thing up to four high and apply a little brake boost on a pitch, it's huge amounts of like torque steer stuff, you don't really get that in the TRX, it just feels like more planet and it spins the wheels and it just goes straight, you don't fight the steering wheel that way, um, yeah, I guess we have to do it. Put them against each other, face to face, oh Brian, what the hell did they totally smoke you?
That was crazy. I had to jump and you. I was wondering if there's some kind of driver modification going on here, man. That was, yeah, I didn't expect it. a finish, I thought it took off well, we have a few more races left, it's nice to do a foreigner though, that last race was good, it was good. I'm amazed, man, this thing is really crazy fast, I mean it.It was in most passes, it was substantially noticeable that this is definitely the fastest truck. Yeah, I think when the right driver comes in here, though it becomes a lot more, even not, but the thing is, it takes you a little bit of time to learn how to do it properly. throw this thing in what mode to keep it in and stuff like that on the last uh the r made a little jump but pulling quite a bit even on the TRX but those other ones I mean the r was faster and I'm surprised I'm surprised the power with just sitting in the passenger seat of the r when you were starting it, you definitely have your hands full, uh, I know, compared to this.yeah, this one definitely sees this thing launch like a car, it sits flat on the right , when you have it in four-raise or 4A, it's torque steer like you're going, it's a completely different experience, completely different, yeah, sure, more composed on the street, yeah, this is more of a street truck, it's note, versus this is more of an off road truck with lots of power, but the thing is I had my old F-150 and it was supercharged, I mean on paper more horsepower. than this, but it just goes to show you how to tune and how to put everything together with the transmission and everything that matters because this thing is faster than my old supercharged F-150, so yeah, I'm surprised, very surprised, I thought it was The TRX will beat them all day, but no, I mean, they're very close depending on who jumps and stuff, but I thought the TRX was going to win every time and they didn't, I don't think they did.
I would have built this truck unless they were trying to build this truck so yeah who knows well there we have it, it's a 20 minute comparison between raptor and TRX, the best way I could do it thanks to Brian. In order to be a TRX driver here doing our little races, my original plan was to go to Harrisburg and meet up with Mike Street Speed. He doesn't currently have a TRX right now, although he probably has like seven of them. uh right now he doesn't have one and I couldn't get this truck and that truck there, luckily Brian could be a TRX driver, it's a lot of fun to see him again and I know a lot of people probably will be.
Well you should have done more off-roading on the trucks and that might be true but there really aren't many good off-road places around here where I live so you know most people use these trucks as street trucks anyway and we did some races and it was very interesting, this truck is a lot faster than I thought it was going to be, to be honest with you, because TRX usually whips everything and in the other videos I've seen, TRX usually wins, but yeah, very. interesting fast truck amazing truck um we still have it for a few more days so there will be more videos coming out of the R beam.
