GOLF, HOW TO ROTATE & BEND

Apr 02, 2024
Hey guys, welcome to Chris Golf, today you'll be joining me at Bel again. We're at the PJ National Golf Academy and we're going to do a video on Body Action and we're going to show you a really simple exercise. that we can do at home on the course, which will hopefully allow you to understand a little more about how the body should work, also allow you to feel a little more about how the body should work, and ultimately improve the way you play

golf

. , so we're I'm going to talk a little bit about how the upper body works in relation to the lower body, uh, what to do in

golf

, what maybe your body does if it's not working quite right and then, as I say, do an exercise that will help us.

So when we play golf, I'm just going to stay upright for this piece here instead of in the golf stance. There are many things that will happen in our upper body while doing a golf sinker. Let's get started. leaning forward or flexing forward, okay, that's what's happening, we're definitely going to have some rotations there, that's pretty obvious, but we also have some B in the upper part of our body, okay, so which are often known as lateral curves or slopes. but that's going to happen or should happen in good golf, it doesn't always happen in good golf and what tends to happen if I come back here to show you is that if we don't create these types of correct curves, Here we are talking a little more about the downswing compared to the backswing, but if we don't create these curves correctly, we often find that the golfer can, as he turns and swings down, can start to get his hands too far toward the ball. too fast, usually from there two things will happen, or the club head will follow and we will find that we get some sort of position like this where the path goes. it's probably to the left somewhere or for certain golfers, as they do this motion with their hands, they'll start to lower the clubhead a little bit more like this, so we still have our hands in the same position, but the club head is He fell behind this golfer, he will probably have difficulty with contact and certainly with control of the club face through the impact area, so, I'm sorry, so that we can get that club in a position Pretty good delivery on the way down, like I say we need. kind of a right curve for right handed golfers in the downswing and this drill is going to help us do that so I just got a post here this is just kind of a workout that you can use. a golf club, the longer the better, really the driver would be ideal.

More Interesting Facts About,

golf how to rotate bend...

The reason I'm buying this is because it doesn't

bend

. If you use a driver, the club store may

bend

a little, not ideal, so try to get it. something like this isn't going to move too much, so if I go straight to you first, what we want you to do is put this behind your back and loop your elbows around it like this, okay? Now I'm going to try to get into a golf stance, okay? And what I'm really looking to do on the downswing is try to reference the right end of the club with the golf ball, so basically I'm going to try to if I move the golf ball into position here, so I'm going to set up like I do.
golf how to rotate bend
I would do for about a half Irish, something like a six iron, I take my starting position and I'm going to simulate a little backswing to not too far and As I go through the golf ball, I'm going to simulate a straight swing . I want to feel like I

rotate

my hips, but as I

rotate

my hips, my chest and shoulders will follow. I want to feel like the right end of that club is pointing at that golf ball, okay, now I'm going to show you from a slightly different angle so we can see, imagine where that golf ball is, in fact, I'm going to move it for you, there come on, so take our stance here a little bit back.
golf how to rotate bend
I swing and as I swing, you'll see my hips rotate and you'll see me keep rotating until I can get the feeling that the right end of this club that I'm using is pointing down toward the swing. What I'm actually doing there without realizing it is that I'm rotating and causing a lateral curvature. If you have difficulty with this movement, you will find that you tend to move a little more this way here and like me. keep spinning I'm never really going to lower that club towards the golf ball. I can if I add the side.
Double now we don't want to do it in that order. We don't want to rotate it on the side. Bend so it has to happen simultaneously, so what I'm really doing here is the distance between my right shoulder and my right hip is very similar to the distance between my left shoulder and my left hip, but as I start to rotate, I notice that my right shoulder has moved closer to my right hip but my left shoulder has moved away from my left hip so that's what we call a side bend if I stood this way towards you there is no golf stance just stance normal yes If I were to bend, you would see that the distance between my right shoulder and my right hip would reduce and the distance between my left shoulder and my left hip would increase, so that's what we call Bender, we can bend in any direction, but in the down swing.
We need to bend to the right as I say for a right-handed golfer, so if you can do that with something like this it will give you a very good idea of what you're trying to do if we then pick up the golf club and rehearse some golf swings, We were seeing the same thing happening, so if I go up to the top to get into a pretty good throwing position here, I've had to create some of that movement there, okay? You'll notice that hopefully it won't look that different than it did when I had that kind of club and was doing that kind of demo.
If you can do this in practice with something like this, I have a feeling you could do it. find some different sensations there and that will be really good for your practice and for the development of your golf game. Doing things like this, doing the exercises without the golf board just increases your awareness of where you should be placing your body and maybe that feels different than what you would currently do, so it's really worth doing, it will certainly help those of you. You fight with a path that is to the left of your target, so right-handed.
The goal for those of you who are going to use the PS Fades cut is, like I say, to start the video. We generally say that a lot of that happens when we don't create any of this curvature to one side and we have a hard time achieving it. The club and hands in the correct area before contact from here without much side. Bend really only has one option and that is a path that is to the left and then my best option from there is a fade shot that most golfers hit. Looking to hit the ball a lot straighter, maybe even move the ball a little bit from right to left, so it's certainly worth a try and I say if you can do it first at home or on the course with something like this without a golf, we You'll get the feels, you'll figure out what feels different to you, it will feel different and it will guarantee that, but it will help you get the club into a better delivery position.
Once you have done this, you can simply pick up your golf club. and try to recreate it, so whatever club you're hitting, whether you know an iron or a wood or something like that, go ahead and hit a couple shots. I would tend to try to take five shots. Return to exercise. Do that. 5 to 10 times, then come back and pick up your golf club to alternate between the drill and the shots, okay, so it's a good way to practice. I hope I can say that you will find it beneficial. I hope you find it. some different positions, maybe some and some soreness that you didn't have before, but that's a good thing that shows that you're learning that you put yourself in different positions and I'm saying that could only be better for your golf game.
So give it a try and I hope you see the benefits. I'm sure you'll do. Thanks for watching the guys post their comments below.
