Apr 12, 2024
cloud of that. Imagine being a race car driver and your father was the one who always carried a lot of weight, but did he carry more weight after he left with her more eyes on you? Yeah, I thought, you know, I thought he, he, was tough. I knew who he was for the sport, I knew he knew what he carried, he had a big fan base and I knew people listened when he spoke and all that stuff, so when he left, I think some people looked at me to try to carry the same burden and even be the same person and I just wasn't going to do it.

I thought, man, I'm going to be me, I'm going to be the best. You know, like I said, he was, he's a ten foot tall black hat and I'm a short, pale, skinny kid, you know he was, I couldn't be who he was, I would have been pretending and I couldn't. be the bully you know, so since then it's always been me and if that's good, if you would like that, great, I think I've been relatable, honest, genuine and the fan base that I got when he passed away, I thought Lo we nurtured it and we grew it and I think we did a lot of wonderful things in and out of the sport to achieve it, so I'm kind of proud of all those things that I thought I handled so well considering there are a lot of different avenues to achieve it.

I went at the time and I think I picked some good ones and certainly I probably could have made some different choices and regretted them, but for the most part I was able to add a little bit to his legacy, that was a big thing for me. I didn't go out and win 90 fucking races. I didn't win seven championships, but I didn't hurt his legacy. I added that which made a lot of people happy. There was an Earnhardt on the track. You know, that was good. Many people say you have great perspective. Thank you.
