We are thinking strategically and the next country they see is Jordan and if they can surround Iran, surround Israel, including Jordan, that would be a huge victory for them, they could care less about this brand F attack even though it was a very strategic attack or very tactical attack against one of their main architects of October 7 and one of the main generals of the Islamic army, it remains to be seen exactly what they will do, but they believe they are looking. long term and strategically well, Chris throughout all of this many are certainly wondering what the latest news is when it comes to hostage negotiations, what are you hearing right about hostage negotiations?
It's really quite bleak the hostages that are left right now because the conditions look very bad, it seems like they haven't received good food, they haven't received medical care, it seems like a lot of the women there have been sexually abused, so it's very, very difficult. for them and it seems very bleak because Hamas is increasing its demands on these people, tragically they have been there for over 6 months so it is very difficult for those who at this moment really scare Chris, what can we expect tonight? Jerusalem, that line, well we're going to have an interview with Dan Gordon, he's an Israeli-American filmmaker, he's done a whole series of documentaries on October 7th and we also have a uh and he talks about heroism and history. uh and something like the future of what's going to happen to Israel outside of this, hope as he calls it.
We also have an interview with former US ambassador to Israel, David Freedan, about his peace plan, about what will happen and what he believes will happen. we will bring the peace of the priests, especially to Judea and Samaria, and we will have an update and we will also have a story about what you would call uh uh, a special thing in uh uh Jerusalem Deadline that we are going to be talking about uh an interview with Tucker Carlson and a Palestinian pastor and we have someone who will present a completely different point of view on that.
Very good, we hope that and much more. Thank you Chris, as he always remembers, we continue to pray for you. and the whole team there in Israel wants to remind you at home that you can watch the latest from the Jerusalem data line, you can get it tonight on the CBN news channel, it starts at 8 Eastern, you can also watch it on the CBN News app o You can follow it on YouTube, both a warning and a reminder, which is the heart of the message that Japan's prime minister delivered at a joint session of Congress in Washington.
He spoke about security in his part of the world following uh fumio kida's speech in the US capital. He joined President Biden and Philippine President Fernando Marcos Jr for the country's first joint summit. Our Caitlyn Burke has more on this key relationship as China's influence grows in the Indo-Pacific. Japan seeks to truly solidify its relationship with US Prime Minister Kashida specifically seeks to strengthen the Defense Alliance, although in his speech to Congress on Thursday he also emphasized Japan's position as a global partner of the United States willing to take on most important role in international affairs.
I'm here to say that Japan already stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States. Not only, we are with you Kashida emphasized that his country wants to help preserve freedom and democracy around the world, not just in the Indo Pacific, the Japanese people are fully committed to these barriers. I don't want to leave our children in a society where human rights were suppressed. where political self-determination is denied where our lives are monitored by digital technology I know you don't either, he himself is trying to speak to the American people to remind them that, well, many of the concerns they may have about other countries simply taking advantage of power American and of the Americans, you know, treasure and um, and, sweat, tears and blood, uh, that's not true, you know Japan is here to share the burden with you.
William Chu of the Hudson Institute tells CBN News that Kashida's speech highlighted a move to a broader alliance, what we have here is that a more comprehensive approach is needed that integrates security, trade, economic security and also a broader type of technological development. Kashida pointed to examples such as Japan providing $122 billion in aid to Ukraine, collaborating with the US space program and investing in the US economy as the geopolitical landscape changed and as Japan grew in trust, we expanded our perspective beyond being America's closest ally, first becoming a regional partner of the United States and now we have become its global partner. partner as Japan takes on a more global role aims to partner with other like-minded nations Thursday's summit as a key example was the first involving the United States, the Philippines and Japan.
Kashida says cooperation between the three countries is key to maintaining peace. and stability in the Indo Pacific Caitlyn Burke CBN News Washington now a Rising inflation and its impact on your personal finances with consumer prices at a 6-month high, any interest rate cuts unlikely in the short term. Note that America is in a spiritual battle, that's how House Speaker Mike Johnson describes the divisions in the country today, he also said.
God has called you to be a servant leader during these turbulent times. CBN News Chief Political Analyst David Brody spoke with speaker Mike Johnson about the challenges ahead. Speaker Johnson David brother, how great are you when we meet in the ceremonial room of the Capitol? House Speaker Mike. Johnson seemed calm, even though his job has been anything but, you are the Speaker of the House, it seems like you might actually have a different title, cat herder, it is important to note that this is not a job that any once I aspired, uh, we have. We're in a bind here, a Republican bind that can go from sweet to bitter at any moment.
He is the first speaker in history to take office in the middle of a session and finds himself leading a one-seat Republican majority and a caucus divided among Democrats. They generally tend to think more like a union, you know, they kind of stick together, they're more monolithic, they move like a pack, they're more of a social animal, right? Republicans, on the other hand, are rugged individualists, you know, we care deeply. our founding principles and our philosophy and we are not easily moved and that is usually a great blessing, but when you try to keep all those cats together and move in the same direction with a one vote majority, sometimes it presents challenges like Caucus members House Freedom, frustrated by what they call bad spending deals with Democrats, are rushing through the process in typical DC fashion, are clearly concerned about the way it is governed, yes, so what will some privately admit from my colleagues, but not?
They always publicly understand that we have the greatest challenge ever presented to Congress and that has not stopped Republican Marjorie Taylor Green from filing a motion to impeach President Johnson because she does not believe he is sufficiently defending conservative political positions. Of course, that's not easy when Democrats control the White House Senate and you barely have a Republican majority in the chamber, so I have virtually no leverage to negotiate and get a better package. Marjorie Taylor Green, I'm going to talk to her about this. week you've talked to her I tried I tried during break two she wasn't interested in talking she says you're basically a deep state agent she didn't use the word operative but you're working for the deep state state in Ence paraphrasing uh also she has attacked your faith well I try to follow all the biblical admonitions like they do every day and one of them says bless those who persecute you I'm getting a lot of practice in that right now um and that a soft word drives away anger, that doesn't mean that he is not rejecting his threat, we have to show the American people that we can keep the Train on the tracks and therefore cause the emotion to dislodge or move the speaker right now. is the exact opposite of what we need to show the country, do you think that if there is some kind of motion to override her, she goes ahead with this, there will be some Republicans, one or two, whatever, that will jump up and go with the Democrats and Hem Jeff is all talker Do you think that is a potential reality here?
Well, listen, if the presidency becomes vacant, it's certainly possible that you'll get a Democratic speaker and soon Speaker Johnson will have to decide whether he brings up a vote on afinancing of Ukraine, something that is a conservative member. I don't want that if you introduce this Ukraine bill, even with some of your creative suggestions, that will probably trigger that AK motion. Well, we are working on all of those issues with all of our members trying to build that consensus. As we talked about the issue of consensus on abortion it will be difficult for the Republican Party, especially now that former President Trump just refused to support a federal abortion ban, a move that pro-life speaker Avid tells us he understands what we have to do right now.
The challenge is to build a culture of life before you can have a political consensus on such a controversial issue, you first have to build a cultural consensus, so you are saying that it is a smart measure, at least in these times, from the point of view. Politically, it just seems like how to fit the moment for now, well, I'm saying we recognize right now that the votes don't exist in Congress to have a federal ban at any level, and there's a lot of work to do. One issue on which the House GOP appears unified is illegal immigration, arguing that President Biden's policies have been disastrous for the United States.
I think they want that open border and I think their action shows that why do you think they specifically want it, it sounds like a conspiracy theory but I think it's actually true that the ultimate design is to turn some of these legal people into voters for their cause and change the result of the census in 2030 because if people can be distributed throughout the country in strategic ways and put them in strategic places, the census not only counts the citizens but it counts the residents, all the people and that could dramatically affect the map in Congress.
I mean, it sounds like some kind of crazy, you know, criminal design and in my opinion it's nothing more than I think that's what they're doing. Johnson will certainly speak his mind, especially when it comes to his Christian faith, a stance that has drawn some criticism. Well, we've been mocked and, I mean, mercilessly, in the press, they've tried. attack me and my family, my wife and my children, and look, we are not discouraged. I mean, you know that's going to happen if you stand for truth and today, if you say the word spiritual warfare, the left needs smelling salts at that point I mean, so talk to me, talk to me a little bit about the spiritual state of this country. of America today and do you see it in those terms?
Is spiritual warfare happening? I mean, if you're a Christian. This is how these things are understood, we are really in a battle of worldviews right now, it's not even a battle between Republicans and Democrats anymore, it's two competing visions about what kind of nation we are, who we are as a people, remember Marxism, communism. Socialism is based on the belief that there is no Creator, there is no God and that is the essence, the basis of their belief, which is not who we are, what will happen to America if that godless philosophy wins. Ronald Reagan said if we ever forget. we are one nation under God we will be a sunken nation Johnson is determined to do everything he can to make sure that does not happen on his watch I have no value other than a servant I am trying to be a servant leader here and at a very challenging time in very difficult circumstances that is my humble prayer every day, you know that we will be able to serve well and honor God in the process David Brody CBN News Washington a new initiative that has helped achieve a goal to help worship leaders eliminate stress stay with us for this story you watch watch CBN News watch this Friday welcome back to CBN News watch leading worship on Sunday may seem like the dream job, but many are feeling the pressure as weekly PRs plan and practice for on Sunday.

In recent years, efforts have been made to encourage worship leaders to deepen their walk with God, we believe the church. is the answer and we believe that the church is limping and that is okay.
God can use limping people, so if you are a limping person, come and walk with us to help Christian musicians on that journey. Shane and Shane created the Worship Initiative, an online resource. With lessons and videos focused on music and growing a relationship with God, what we want to do is accompany worship leaders and simply encourage them daily and weekly with the truth of God's word, so come in, log in in the worship initiative and I can take all kinds of classes and that's what we have interviews with people like Phil Wickham and John Piper. I mean, the range is so wide that you know, after 10 years in service, the worship initiative is now partnering with glue, an online connection engine and expanding Marketplace. its services to about 70,000 churches using the glue platform, the average church size is well under 100 people, so what that means is that the church may have a limitation in its access to quality resources, Brad Hill, director of Glue Solutions, says the worship initiative. is their best-selling product in their market and celebrates the Easter season with a curated list and teachings for churches looking to participate because they know that when people walk away from church after the Easter weekend, they will often remember and reflect about the sermon and the music, those are the two things that people typically talk about with Easter on the horizon, what would you talk to local pastors, local worship leaders?
I mean, the first thing that comes to mind in the middle of all that is like the man. the pressure is off so the battle is the Lords you are not sure validated because the pastor thinks you did great or not great you are safe and validated in Christ for worship leaders at First United Methodist Church in Graham Texas has been sent by God before the worship initiative was struggling for resources after the worship initiative I know what to practice I know how to help other people practice resources and more can allow churches to strengthen their people relieve stress and focus on celebrating Jesus everyone days not just Easter Sunday Ro Carter CBN News Hallelujah, in fact, your Friday meal is coming up the next day with us.
