meal

on Friday. I'm making two of my favorite

soup

s,

tortilla

soup

and

chicken

noodle

soup, and my plan is to put everything in the bag. I want to finish all the preparation. All the chopped vegetables I want the seasonings in the packets so for these I'm going to use these giant zipper bags so what I'm going to do is put everything in the bag besides the

chicken

broth or water and then I can just throw everything in the

crock

pot and let it simmer all day. This will be a super easy

freezer

meal

that I can eat.

I have a bunch from last week and then a new bunch and then a bunch of parsley. I have onions. I chose five, a zucchini and a pumpkin. I include them in my tortilla soups. green peppers some leftover kale, it's almost wilting, but I'm going to go ahead and stick it in there so it doesn't go bad, then two bags of baby carrots, I'm just going to cut these little ones up and then a bag of spinach, a bundle of celery, so first I'm going to work on washing and chopping and then I'll come back and we'll start assembling.

Quick knife skills, washing and cutting video for you guys anyway. I'm just assuming that in this video, for the sake of time, you guys know how to cut and here it's all cut, since they're both chicken-based recipes. What I did was I just bought it. a huge package of boneless skinless chicken breasts, when I got them home I went ahead and put them in gallon bags so they were already frozen, they went straight into the

freezer

like that as soon as I got home and one of them in It actually has some since I had sautéed squash that I didn't end up eating one day, so I went ahead and put the rest in this frozen bag.

This will be one of my tortilla soup recipes. I have eight little bags with chicken breasts in them, so I'm going to start with the first four and make my tortilla soup and then we'll work on the chicken soup, so I'm going to put four of these back in the freezer for just a few minutes. I'm going to go ahead and open all my little bags so I can go ahead and add my vegetables. I'm pretty sure I've shown my tortilla soup recipe on this channel. It's basically a vegetable soup recipe that tastes like tortilla soup.
I add a lot of extra vegetables and this is a great way if you have picky eaters in your family, this is just a great way to add more vegetables to their diet because it tastes just like soup, all the flavors of the vegetables come together and It just makes a wonderful pot of soup to be honest my husband never liked tortilla soup until I made it for him and I think it's just the flavors of all the vegetables mixed into the soup that makes this soup super delicious , it is absolutely one of both. our favorites and I have a lot of vegetables in there that he wouldn't normally love.
He won't eat spinach or kale unless it's in this recipe or if it's in pasta so I can hide more vegetables in the soup and get him to eat them. more vegetables to make it super healthy let's go ahead and add our vegetables so I have my four bags here and for this I'm going to add some onions and green peppers so I'm just going to take a handful. and add it in this will be my vegetable hand and this will be my hand holding the bag. I'm just going to add some onions and I want to save some of these onions for my Chicken Nole Soup recipe.
Okay, so I saved. I don't know one and a half onions for chicken noodle soup. I'm going to use all these green peppers. I cut up four green peppers so that's about one pepper per bag, I'm just going to grab some handles and start dividing them into little bags made with green peppers, like I said I like to add extra veggies so these you wouldn't find in traditional tortilla soup, but I love putting them in my soup because like I said, my husband wouldn't eat them. Otherwise, I'm going to give a generous tablespoon of spinach for each baggie and save some spinach for a couple of my chicken noodle soups.
I'll also add extra greens and Maybe have two handfuls of spinach left for my chicken soup and the same with the kale. Next I have my pumpkin and zucchini. I'm going to divide this between the four bags. These are other vegetables that I put in. They are not in traditional tortilla soup, divide them until I run out, I actually don't need that much pumpkin in this one since it's the one that already had frozen pumpkin. I'm also going to add just a little bit of carrots, but most of these carrots are actually for the chicken soup and then all of the cilantro is for these, so I'm going to go ahead and just divide this into four in a grocery run. .
I showed off some cilantro the week before and someone had asked me about it. I wonder how I store cilantro. I said I was going to freeze some of it because my recipe didn't call for all of it and what I like to do is add it to something like this where it's already mixed with a bunch of vegetables or add a little bit of olive oil to one of those little containers that I use. If you watch a lot of my videos, you've probably seen them many times, but these are just the I'm glad I used 4 oz or a half cup. containers, I'll just add what I have on my hands, I'll just add whatever spices I have left and then cover with olive oil and freeze it into something like that, then I can add a pasta or a stew later.
What I like to do, you could also use an ice cube tray instead of small containers like this if you want, I thought I'd share while I was thinking about it, that's it when it comes to fresh produce. I'm going to move on. and add my spices. I have a bunch of spices here and these are really just an eyeball, but I'll give you rough measurements to start with, you can always add more or less than you want to add. So of course I always use sea salt and crack black pepper. I only have mills of both and this is pink Himalayan sea salt so it has a different color.
It's really nice. I'll add a little bit of these now, but later. I'll add more to taste as I simmer everything later, I also have some red pepper flakes. I add maybe 1/4 teaspoon of these, if you like it spicy you can add more if you don't like it spicy you always can. leave them out and for more flavor, I just give this ground red cayenne pepper a little bit of shake, I just give it a little bit of that, then paprika, maybe I add half a teaspoon of this and then these are the two biggest spices for For the chili powder I add 1 to 2 tablespoons and for the cumin I add about 1 tablespoon, so I add a lot of both, that's what really gives it a nice rich reddish brown color.
It gets the deep color from these two, so I'm going. Just go ahead and add my spices now and that's it for these packets so I'm going to try to squeeze out as much air as possible and I'm going to try to label them so the nice thing about putting them together in little baggies is that you can put them in. any shape you want before freezing it, so I sealed the bags and made this little Blobby shape, you can also leave everything flat if the flat position works better in your freezer, I'm just going to keep mine puffed up like this, I think they'll really fit. very well on our top shelf in our freezer so that you can see the label.
They are all nice and organized on my tray. I'm going to go ahead and put them in the freezer and we'll start on the chicken noodle soup first. I start adding my vegetables. I'm going to go ahead and label them while I think about it and as long as I have my Sharpie marker it will be a little easier. I'm going to open all my bags and get started. adding my greens for the greens, I'm just going to divide them into four, except for the extra spinach, I'm going to add them in one that way, we have three simple chicken noodle soups and then one with some extra spinach.
If I feel like a little more greens, okay, I've got my celery, now I'm going to add the onions and spinach. I'm just going to add them to this along with the carrots and then I have a bunch of parsley. to divide between the four containers I love parsley parsley is one of my favorites and for spices I keep it very simple I just want the vegetables to really bring out the flavor so I make chicken broth. I'm also going to add a little bit of this garlic, this is just minced garlic and extra virgin olive oil.
I'm going to add about a teaspoon, which ends up being about two cloves of garlic, so it says half a teaspoon is about one clove. Next I'll add a bay leaf, this just adds some flavor but make sure to remove it after you're done cooking. Nobody wants to eat the bay leaf. These are also very good in any type of stew, just give it a nice homey and comforting flavor. I'm going to add a little salt and pepper, but once it's simmered, I'll taste it and then add salt and pepper to taste. I'll sear them and then talk about how I'm going to cook them.
Later, real quick, I wanted to show you my freezer a little bit down here. It had this little extra section. I just wasn't doing much with it. He had lots of things. I just moved everything here. Those are the things we still are. working on eating and getting rid of and then here I decided to put all my stuff in the bag, so these are all prepared

meals

. I've got my chicken soups down here, my tortilla soups up here, and I'm ready to go. I want to go ahead and show you a little bit of my process on how I plan to use these meals and stuff, so I'm going to do a whole video just about this postpartum meal planner and walk you through week by week and all that, but for today's purposes just I want to show you what I'm doing to keep track of what still needs to be added to any of the meals.
I'm going to move on to my cooking information page. I needed more instructions here in case anyone is going to cook any of these meals. Like my husband doesn't know how to cook so I have to leave him some instructions, he can follow basic instructions and that's about as far as his cooking skills go, so in this cooking information I'm going to go ahead and add the other things. which I'm going to need for those meals like I said I basically just want to throw everything from the freezer into the pot with some chicken broth but there are a couple more things you need to add so first we'll start with This tortilla soup I didn't add none of the canned stuff I would normally add when Rite needs a can of diced tomatoes, a can of green chiles, and a can of black beans, so now, although those are my instructions I didn't want to open cans just to waste space in the freezer with those cans, so that's something we can have in our pantry.
You know, cans don't go bad for long, so I can have those cans. Ready to use, you can grab them from the pantry if he's cooking that night, so he says: Add the can of diced tomatoes, green chiles, and black beans to the pot, fill with chicken broth and water, and bring to a simmer. slow when you type fill. with chicken broth and water, I'll use one box of chicken broth and then fill the rest with water. If I have to cook the tortilla soup myself, I would probably add some rice too, but I want to keep it that way. as simple as possible for whoever is cooking so rice is not necessary so for the chicken soup all you need besides the chicken broth is some noodles so in my address I'm just going to write add noodles and that's it for the chicken soup i just wrote add egg noodles, chicken broth and water to the

crock

pot bring it to a simmer so you can follow these kind of basic instructions and you know i will be home so you can always come and ask me if have any problems with the following instructions, so I have this in case you know I don't feel like cooking or I'm feeling really bad.
This way we can still have delicious meals and I don't have to worry about it as much when we move forward. in my frozen meals, I'm going to walk you through all of these things, so I just wanted to show you how I keep track of what else needs to be added to frozen meals, that explains my process a little bit, so I hope you enjoyed this video, Please like if you like freezer videos and be sure to subscribe to follow me.
