injury

in a 2002 match with brock lesnar lesnar dropped him right on his neck courtesy of a botched powerbomb which left him with a ruptured disc in his neck you broke my neck but you made one big mistake you didn't finish the job holly later admitted that it was a simple case of an accident caused by inexperience and went on to add that there was no ill will towards lesnar holly somehow continued the match with a broken neck but immediately after the match he was rushed to a local hospital brock i'm gonna break your neck you would miss over a year of action before returning to wwe to have feud with lesnar over the wwe title number five wade barrett wade barrett should have been a huge star during his time in the wwe but i'm afraid i've got some bad news unfortunately one of the things that didn't go into barrett's favor was his extensive list of injuries during his wwe career one of his more notable injuries occurred during a battle royal main event on raw during the build to wrestlemania 28. the injury took place during a spot where barrett was outside of the ring and the big show threw dolph ziggler out to barrett however barrett managed to catch ziggler at a weird angle which resulted in an unfortunate injury during the impact barrett dislocated his left elbow and was in excruciating pain after being rushed to the hospital following the dislocation barrett would miss almost eight months of television time due to the injury my fists are my weapons of choice upon returning he would debut a new barnacle fighter character which would be short-lived number six triple h when it first happened i don't know what what the hell happened to me it felt like i'd been shot in the thigh on the may 21st 2001 edition of monday night raw triple h suffered one of the worst career threatening injuries ever seen on wwe television during the main event triple h and stone cold steve austin were facing chris jericho and chris benoit the match is notable not just for the aforementioned injury but it's also heavily considered to be one of the greatest matches in the history of in the match itself jericho had austin in the walls of jericho but then triple h ran in to break up the booth but as he did it he tore his left quadricep muscle causing it to come completely off the bone a strong sensation here of a pop and it you know that felt like electricity went up my leg and i guess that was it tearing triple h wasn't able to put any weight at all on his left leg somehow he continued to wrestle on one leg for the rest of the match i get the way i figured if i can still move i can still go so can't stop me that easy as soon as the match was finished triple h went immediately to hospital and would be off the shelf until the next calendar year missing the wcw and ecw invasion storyline completely number 7. joey mercury but let me be the first to say you guys are cool the eminem trio consisting of joey mercury johnny nitro and molina were extremely popular during the ruthless aggression era one of the moments they were involved in became somewhat legendary although for all the wrong reasons well the face of joey mercury tells the story eminem was part of a fatal four-way ladder match for the tag team titles at the armageddon pay-per-view in 2006 against dave taylor and william regal paul london and brian kendrick and legendary hardy boys during one of the spots of the match jeff hardy was seen to leap off the rope onto a ladder that would be forced upwards and hit the faces of both mercury and morrison this was a spot that was often used during the original tlc matches so it wasn't something new and something that shouldn't have resulted in such serious injury sadly mercury didn't get his hands up in time and took a different impact to the face naturally mercury's face was seriously messed up with blood everywhere mercury was pulled from the match with immediate effect and was rushed to a nearby hospital it's got to be tough for him to watch that luckily he only suffered a broken nose and had a number of stitches but it could have been a lot worse number eight the undertaker the streak is over wrestlemania 30 is infamous for the breaking of the legendary streak of the undertaker in the match brock lesnar was the one to finally break the streak in a polarizing decision that still decides fans to this very day it's a struggle guys for undertaker just get to his feet he's spent most of his match on the map unfortunately the match wasn't up to the traditional quality that fans have come to expect from the undertaker's wrestlemania matches this was mainly because undertaker suffered a concussion early on in the match meaning he literally didn't have a clue what was going on during the match i got hurt so bad i don't even remember that match so today i don't remember it the undertaker recently stated in an interview i've only been working a few times a year so what i think happened was that working just once a year finally caught up with me most guys aren't brock lesnar and they're not able to throw me around like that it was nothing that brock did i think it was just that my body was not used to the trauma the undertaker was rushed to the hospital following the wrestlemania match due to concerns about his welfare brock lesnar paul heyman and even vince mcmahon went to the hospital with the dead man now vince never leaves his post at wrestlemania even with two hours left of the wrestlemania card so it kind of shows what he thinks of the undertaker by the fact that he left the biggest pay-per-view in wwe history to be by his side number 9 john cena john cena is one of the biggest names in wwe history but he himself has had his fair share of injuries over the years john cena suffered a severely herniated disc one of the injuries he suffered that resulted in him going to the hospital was during the summer of 2015 during his acclaimed united states title open challenge period on the 27th july edition of raw cena defended his u.s title against wwe champion seth rollins he did a pretty damn good job during the match a standard knee to cena's face from rollins left his nose blood and bruised cena was noticeably in pain and was having issues breathing however he continued to wrestle and finish the match wwe had to publish a statement as a lot of fans were heavily concerned about the condition of the multi-time world champion the statement read as you can see on television tonight john suffered from a nasal fraction he's got quite a bit of displacement so we sent him over to the local emergency room so he can be evaluated by the ears nose and throat doctor who's on call tonight and see what can be done to properly repair it asena managed to make a full recovery and went on to face rollins at summerslam a month later in a widely well received match and number 10 stone cold steve austin the legendary stone cold steve austin has had a long extensive history of injuries these ultimately led to his premature retirement at wrestlemania 19 in 2003 and he hasn't wrestled since one of the injuries that contributed to this early retirement was his neck injury austin suffered at summerslam 1997 in an infamous match with owen hart let's see what austin can do with even though the match owen set up austin for a tombstone piledriver but austin's head was far too low and as soon as his head hit the mat his neck was immediately broken austin was temporarily paralyzed following the move and heart used traditional heel tactics to play to the crowd until austin could get some movement back in his body and roll up owen so the match could thankfully end he was rushed to hospital after the match so doctors could evaluate the condition of his neck doctor's approval i ain't gonna wear this piece of crap they gave me the fact that you dumped me on my head last night don't mean a damn thing to me amazingly austin was only out of action for a few months but the neck would continuously come back to haunt him over the next few years but there you have it guys 10 wwe
