Jun 04, 2021
so strange oh what's going on guys welcome to the channel? So today we're going to

paint

the uh bull, uh, my apologies for being away the last two weeks, the weather wasn't good here in Texas and there were power outages, I didn't. I have power here in the garage at home for either a couple of days and the cold weather and all that, so the

paint

wouldn't work too well in the cold, so today it's sunny and it's sunny, I think we're about to about to hit 80, but the weather is perfect to start painting. I had already taken the paintings out of here.

These are the paints I'm going to use. These are the gallon kits you can find on eBay, so I found them for approx. A hundred dollars or so, so I bought two kits, they are both the same color. These are

metal

lic gray and both come with their reducers and hardeners, so I'll leave the link in the description and also here's a little invoice. this is the one gallon paint kit and I bought two right there and I think this is after tax uh 109 each so 218 for both so yeah these are the 100 single stage paint kits from eBay.

I opened the lid just to show you that this is a little over a half gallon, but this is the one I used to paint the ceiling. this one came out pretty well and yeah my plan real quick is to just mix these two gallons together back and forth back and forth uh that way I don't have uh in case I'm done guiding you guys, I'm pretty sure I will. and I will continue with this one.

I don't want to differentiate the colors, so I'm just going to mix them. I'll just put it in the sun and start warming up in the meantime. I'm going to go ahead and uh just clean this truck and put some plastic on top and we'll start painting so go ahead and start good guys so the truck is now clean on the top of the roof I already put some on it plastic, um, the paint already brought it back. inside pretty good what I'm going to do here I'm going to start I'm going to start with the driver's side bed right here and then I'm going to go to the front do the cabin uh this fender right here and then I'm going to go over roof and then we go around this way after the hood, um, we'll do the fender and then we'll go around the passenger side until we get to the back, uh, because that's where the fans are, so that's the way I'm going to do it.

If everything is ready, I'm going to go ahead and make some paint, the paint is mixed eight, one, so it's eight parts paint, one part hardener and one part, one or two parts, reducer, and the

spray

gun, you already know. My, where is it? My cobalt

spray

gun. I use this a lot because I use it to restore paint jobs. Single stage paint jobs. You know, I use this a lot lately. But I want to do it. I paint some clear base coat and I have another gun especially for that, for now we're going to go ahead and start painting this

metal

lic gray on the Silverado and one more thing, this is a single stage paint and it's

metallic

, so, on the one hand, uh It's a little challenging, it's not difficult, but it is a challenge to spray the metal and make sure it's uniform.
I don't think I explained myself too well in the ceiling area. I didn't get a lot of negative comments or anything like that. I hope you understood that, but they give it the first wet pass and then, well, the first coat will be light and then the second coat will be heavier, a wet pass and then you have to dust. that that paint has to make sure that the

metallic

s fall on it, so after you have the whole panel wet, you have to go back, it's a control layer, so this is just to make sure that all the metal that you know is dispersed . the panel evenly so I hope you like it understand anyway let's get started just remember guys this is just the first layer so here's a truck.
I finished painting all the layers and then let it dry. I went back and took it off like the Paper the plastic, everything I had masked off, except for the running boards, I don't need to do that, just take a quick look at the truck, what it all looks like, the color, it almost looks like factory color, the painting. You know it was a unique and metallic stage, it was a little, I'm not going to say difficult, it was a little challenging, but above all it just requires a little patience. You know, you have to throw in a wet layer, uh, the first layer. it's just light and then the second coat had to pour a wet coat and then continue with the control code the control code is just to make sure that all the metal is dispersed evenly throughout the truck going back and forth to mix another cup of paint, there may have been a few panels that caught a little overspray where you can see, it's brilliant, but when I stopped to mix another paint and continued with the other panel, this one was already dry, not this one in particular.
It looks good, looks decent, but there may be some stains. Right there a slow reducer could have helped. I think I was using a medium one but a slow reducer. Right now it still feels like it's still sunny outside and it is. I guess in the 80's, but I use the medium reducer. If you had a small car, you could paint the entire car, go all the way around the car, and then still reach up to the other panel that you just finished spraying and just hit it. a second coat and everything would be wet as it would dry together, but this was such a big truck, but overall, we still did it, you know, this was a key truck, it was just a quick makeover, you know, we had a Little Budget and with that budget, you know, I bought the two gallons of paint.
I also bought the headlights, which I'm going to do in another video, but I'm going to do the headlights. I already have them with the same budget. I ordered the headlights. uh, you know, the front and rear fenders. I also bought some tow mirrors and a small rain guard just to complete the truck. I didn't buy anything for the taillights. I'll still use the originals, but here they are. Here's the truck so the paint looks pretty good it looks pretty good just a little touch up with the trim polish maybe so that's it for the Silverado one more video maybe just a finish , uh, finishing installing all the parts we have. was removed, that way we can get rid of it, this was just a quick budget makeover.
I could have done it inside the garage but it's still on a budget and it's still like doing it myself at home, it doesn't help at all so overall I would do it. Call this a success, so that's it for this video. Thank you very much for watching and I hope to see you in my next video.
