brand almost came out of nowhere when hyundai decided to create a premium brand, they followed the lineage of nissan. when infiniti toyota with lexus you meet honda with acura and now you move forward creating a bigger line, it's all about sedans, the g70, the g80, the g90, which have gone through redesigns and updates, there was a lot of enthusiasm for their first suv medium size. that gv80, guess what, there's even more excitement for the little brother the

gv70

, it now sits on the g70s chassis, has a slightly longer wheelbase and a few other dimensions, but the good news is we're talking about a rear-wheel drive chassis configuration and our particular one has all-wheel drive because guess what would happen if we brought you the first one here on right-handed rides?

We're going all the way with that twin-turbo V6 prestige model, so what I want to know is this. The best

at the end of the day when you look at the competition like the BMW X3, the Audi Q3 and of course the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Let's go ahead without further ado, jump into this

gv70

and see how spectacular it is right off the bat. The style. There is a new design philosophy that Genesis is incorporating into its entire lineup and the Gv70 continues to lead the way.

The deal what you're going to get is that two level LED lighting setup as you can see we've got the daytime running lights that are illuminated and then you're going to have each of those individual LED headlights that's going to put out a nice glow. white light, look at the way they darkened the interior and I'm telling you from a distance, this looks so unique because of the way they just designed the headlights and we haven't even talked about anything else with this all new gv70. Working down, what do we have? It's that bad word, keep thinking in the gutter, I'm talking about functionality, huge and functional side air curtains.

I like the crisscross design, this actually mimics the actual shape of the Genesis grille and I'm very happy. which went flat black, no gloss black on these corner vents, but like I said, functionality is the name of the game on the front of this gv70, working down there is a bit of flat black separating this extension and bottom. part that provides a very different depth of design, different design elements that they really think about these vehicles in the

genesis

to make the gv80 and the gv70 stand out from the rest of those high performance luxury SUVs now that we find ourselves with that front grill this is becoming synonymous with the brand, so huge, almost like home plate, right next to a baseball field, right next to Wrigley Field, huge grill.

It works at first, when I saw this in the photos I thought, "I'm going to have to do this." I'm retracting my zonk. It works on the front end of the Genesis, especially this GV70. I love that crisscross design. We have the black chrome finish not only in the center but also around the entire perimeter. You don't have to worry about any ugly looking plaques. plastic plate in the center, like some of their other models, it has a forward facing camera that is conveniently and cleanly placed near the center of the grill and then moves down, look at the good job they did, good extension, everything reaches to its end. a point here and they actually drove the point home to that mid-gloss black extension functionality on the lower grille section as well to match those corner vents and look what they did, you got some vortex generators to clean up the air and then you're also I'm going to have this nice lower lip extension that extends just enough so you can see that aggressive look without going overboard too much, but very, very nice, low and wide.

The only thing I'll have to do if you have it. I haven't seen it, it's going to be what happened here on the hood, why did they design this to fold like this and not sit very flush? So let's place it on both sides and of course you can see how there's a gap there. between the top of the grill and where the hood meets now when we go up to the hood everything is super clean you'll get that genesis badge yeah it's got a little bit of a Bentley mix a little bit of an Aston Martin but I know what which looks really cool, especially the way they take the wingtips and incorporate them into the design.

They make a small depression in the center of the hood and then it all disappears as you move towards the windshield around the bend. Nice sharp edges going into the A-pillars and then wait until you see what I have for you around the bend. Check it out on our particular gv70. We have optional 21-inch black chrome finish wheels, five-spoke design, but what I'm looking into. It's all the little intricate details, these details make the wheel look very different than what you would find on the GV80. You get huge six-piston calipers, a nice flat black color with the Genesis logo on there and you'll also get nice big fully vented rotors. to give us that braking ability and that's what we're talking about here, it's truly a sporty performance SUV.

If you look at the brakes, you're sure to get that good stopping power that's going to be able to stop this beast of an SUV and If you're wondering what you're like, Joe, what's the size of this thing? You're looking at the front 255 on the 40 series wide sidewall and like I said we have all wheel drive so the power hits the ground like a gorilla. glue the four corners together, I'm so glad they painted that nice fender element around the opening, the area we're going to have to zone, you know where I'm going, follow my finger, what is this fake vent design?

Leave it smooth. To me, that's a little too stylized, so it really detracts a little from the corner, but the rest is super clean. I like the way the nice hard line of the body where the hood meets the fender, no badges or fakes. the vents are just simple and I think simple is good in a very general way, now you will get colored mesh on the mirror caps. We have our unique built-in LED, beautiful, slim and elegant. We have our 360 degree cameras. a little bit of gloss black, look at this nice cohesive design, black chrome on the top and bottom, but look what they did first, you have a panoramic sunroof, you have nice low roof rails that are gloss black, but look the finish, look at this. look at the way the water just falls on that, very sexy, it's small but it's a sexy quarter window, I love like I said the way they did the trim, even the black chrome finish on the door handles It has some glossy black splatter. the bottom and I'm telling you this body line shows movement with just the gv70 sitting here which is really cool looking at the business end you're going to get the same great 21 inch wheel rotors that are a little less aggressive. but obviously it's still fully vented and you're looking at that 255, so 255 across the width, the four corners going around the back, we're going to have to, we're going to have to zone this back corner here into that fake vent that it goes into. the lower bumper area, but we'll talk more about that in a second, in the back, just like the sexy headlights, look at this like two fingers, beautiful bright red LED lighting, all-wheel drive, we have the 3.5t, we don't have one .

We have twins, that's that twin turbocharged power. They do a great job with that extendable roof spoiler. Nice and flat, the shiny black with the LED lighting, but why do we have this? I'm doing it right, put it in, you have so much room here. Tuck this in under, especially the way the rear glass looks absolutely stunning, beautiful curves, the genesis badge and then when we go down with our gv70 it's a bit of a mixed bag. First of all, I love the huge exhaust openings, one on each side, where Everything Went Wrong with this whole fake vent design.

I don't know why they had to do it. If you had kept it smooth it would still show off its aggressive appearance and you wouldn't have all these crisscross designs, but I love the rear diffuser area and the way they took the reverse lights and blended them so cleanly, but definitely the exterior looks great. Let's open the hood and see if we can see that 3.5-liter twin-turbo V engine we have. In hip hop, you have hydraulic struts on the hood. Another thing I want to point out is that they put reinforcements in the front on both sides to stiffen the front of the business on this gv70 and then underneath, yes there is a lot of flat black, but I'm okay with that and they did a great job.

I think with the good size engine cover, all you need is the V6. They went ahead and put twin turbos in case you forgot on both sides of the rear. I like the font they changed. the font, the script, everything else super clean under the hood, but what are we looking at? We're looking at a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, 375 horsepower, 391 pound-feet of torque, it's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, as I mentioned. Well, Joe, I'm one of those many people who have been waiting for this review. I've been looking at the competition, but knew better than to pull the trigger until I saw this review. The big question I have for you, Joe. How much is this? So the way you look at it, this is about sixty-four thousand four hundred and ninety dollars.

Let's see what you get for the money for the door panels, like what they've done so you'll get that blue that it actually is. blue leather on the top with the stitching, the silver trim is so elegant and tasteful you have the premium Lexicon uh sound system with the beautiful speaker cover, the red stitching and that's real, feel the carbon fiber on that long middle part of the door panel there, as we come down from that carbon fiber, the door pocket is a little tight, so maybe two buns and a bottle of chocolate milk to wash it down, other than that, They did a great job on the door panel now. to the dash, from the door panel to the dash, same beautiful stitching, same soft touch material, that red stitching work looks so clean and then feast your eyes on that 14 inch infotainment system screen and half.

Yes, it's iPad style, it doesn't bother you. To me it's a nice horizontal setup, nice and wide, and it doesn't extend too far to where it blocks the hood while you're sitting behind the business end, but look how they made the beautiful intricate design, the silver flows right into the air conditioning. Vents The air conditioning vents are nice and hidden. Is this a touch screen? Of course, it is a touch screen. Then you get a touchscreen infotainment system. Let me move on and go home. All functions. I mean, you have Apple Carplay, Android Auto, of course, Sirius. xm the sounds of nature you can go into your seat adjustment uh set everything up perfect exactly how you want it to go to your climate controls look at those super clear graphics they do a great job from genesis on all their setup let me go ahead and put it in reverse so we can see the backup camera nice and clear, you could see the spokes rise on that backup camera in 360 and you know, if you want to back up and make sure you don't get lost, you could have the navigation.

Up there we come to the screen, look there we are, there is the gv70 right at the genesis of the crown, it looks good and the wheels are turning, so you know it's really you because look at the wheels, there are very interesting features, very Well done, I'm going to throw it back. in the park so we don't accidentally walk away, of course, you'll have that nice clear view and then when we come down the silver trim, we'll have ambient lighting, you'll have the start and stop button, some of that ambient lighting, it's a little bit of shiny black is heavy onthis area, but the good news is that it's so absolutely beautiful the TFT screen that you have dual climate controls, obviously, heated seats, ventilated seats and it's very easy to understand, I mean, anyone could do that really nice and clean. off, love the graphics, scroll down, you've got your toggle switches, continue our way down, more of that beautiful blue stuff, open door number one, boom, what do we have with USB wireless charging?

What's in the GV80, of course, you have your rotary dial for your transmission for the eight-speed automatic. This reminds me of the dark glass that looks very, very slippery and then what about our keychain? Two cup holders we make. I have a condom right now on my keychain to protect it, but let me slide it on a little bit.

We have the ability to do that smart parking feature where you can move the vehicle. in and out of place, remote start, open the back, the whole nine yards, toot the red horn, put that nice soft back on the armrest, red stitching, open this guy up, what do we have? You have a nice little tray for some emeralds and some rubies that you've been collecting from 12 volts and then you could easily put them in, I'd say about 24 packs of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, that sounds like a dream snack box to me, If I ever thought of one and I know everyone thinks I love twinkies. but I love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, there are a lot more seats, more blue leather, the stitching work, look at the microfiber alcantara suede material, it looks great, we have the red seat belts, that's five horses of additional power, the pipes and then, of course, full electric assistance for the passenger. and the driver and you have that driver sitting Liz, I'm moving the seat right now look, I'm not going to touch there, I can move the seat when we move the back, look at that arm you want to lie down, go ahead, I Lie down nice and then Upstairs we have more Alcantara.

Remember this is the top finish. We've got more Alcatero Alcantara material and that full panoramic sunroof looks spectacular, but why doesn't it come at the business end? I want to show you behind this. sexy genesis steering wheel on this gv7 hello guys business time behind the wheel of this gv70 you have two memory seat configurations and speaking of the seats they feel phenomenal but let's take a look at what's underneath we have a badge Aluminum sill plate with Genesis badge. I wish they could do a little more with this setup. Some LED lights would put it on par with the competition footrest, although they do a phenomenal job with the gv70, so you'll have a tasteful dead battle look.

The brake and accelerator pedal are aluminum and look at the design that mimics the shape of the grill on this GV70 with those different rubber pieces so you can get traction when you step on the brake or when you press the throttle seat controls. very well made on the easy access side and like I said, I'm six feet tall, even with the panoramic sunroof I have plenty of head room, but what I really have on my side is even more carbon fiber, because of the Higher level of the center console not only did they keep it blue but they gave it carbon fiber on the side, looking really cool and what looks even better is the steering wheel, this has to be my favorite Genesis steering wheel of the entire line.

You'll have red contrast stitching on the stitch that's actually done with embroidery, the aluminum finish looks great, look at this, look at all the stitch work, nice material, you've got those LED backlit buttons and then you'll have paddles on the back of the steering wheel. to raise and lower that eight-speed automatic power tilt and telescoping steering wheel and then check out the digital display on the dash, it's 12.3 inches and looks absolutely sexy. All the different modes that you can go into, we're going to be sporty and that's how we do it on radial courses and then I even checked it when I reach for the hand it has the corner it has the corner cameras for those blind spots very well made there is no many brands that do it like genesis and you have a head-up display so it really brings a wide variety of technological finishes and everything else, but let's go to the back seat and see how your passengers will enjoy while you travel your favorite winding road in the back seat of the GBC guys in this gv70 and me.

I'm very happy to say that even with the sexy low roofline of this luxury compact SUV, there is plenty of headroom, like I said, I'm six feet tall, there's plenty of headroom here behind the seats, come on to have to zonk. Plastic. I know if you're a parent, it's easier to clean up your kids' snot, but from an aesthetic point of view it doesn't fit with the beauty of everything else, and on top of that, we now have those cargo nets, the good thing is that they have the grill design on the cargo net, the bad news is that any pocket knight sword, dagger, something like that will simply go through the cargo net, now the good news, which is even better, is see how they carry the stitches until the end.

In the small rear command center you have air conditioning controls, easy-to-operate heated seats, but no ventilated seats. That's nonsense for sixty-four thousand dollars. But as for the interior, it is very easy to get to everything. The 3D dash is just great, it could be some kind of novelty that wears off after a while but it really is super clear graphics, the way they keep the lane helps with the gv70 sitting in the center there is a smart and clever layout, these seats are comfortable but also supportive which is good news and so far I like the response I'm getting from the infotainment system from the very very thick leather wrapped steering wheel like I said it's not too high to block your view, but it allows you to reach and touch the screen to access the different functions, which is great.

The brakes feel good. You have those lane cameras, which is always nice. Other than the wear and tear, but the seats are super comfortable and I definitely like this one better than the gv80. The gv80 is nice, but this gv70 really checks more boxes for me, at least when it comes to a compact suv. Now let's arthral, ​​here we go. All-wheel drive puts the power to the ground. Good look at that smooth shift from the eight speed. I really really like how the transmission behaves in sport plus mode. It really shifts with authority even on downshifts.

Give it a good push of the throttle and then downshift to keep the chassis super super stable, but let's move on. Accelerates strange. Here we go, really, it's just a fun SUV to drive, but I just want a little more sound. The sound end is great here with no wind noise, check this out.
