disappearance

of nine-year-old Aysia Degree, and this case is incredibly frustrating, I know.
the bizarre disappearance of asha degree
I probably say it's the beginning of each of these videos, but the frustrating thing about this case is that there is literally no evidence, nothing really, so this video will probably be super short, but we'll talk about that later in the video. Asia Degree was born on August 5, 1990 in Shelby, North Carolina, to Harold, an Aquila Degree, who was married two years earlier in 1989, on Valentine's Day, which is actually very unfortunate because that is the day that they should disappear. Aisha had a brother named O. 'Brian, they grew up in an apartment in a North Shelby subdivision and had a very sheltered upbringing.

More Interesting Facts About,

the bizarre disappearance of asha degree...

They weren't really allowed to watch television, especially Near Eastern television, because her parents thought the news was too negative, which I understand, but they like it. Also, I rarely got to do anything social. I have social interactions outside of school, family, and church, and they also didn't get a computer at home in grade, and of course the reason they didn't have a computer is also what makes it notable. Aquila Degree said in an interview that every time they were in the news there was always something like a pedophile luring a little boy using a computer, so she didn't want them near her house because she didn't want to take that risk. .
the bizarre disappearance of asha degree
In 2008 she was 9 years old, so she was in fourth grade at Fosston, an elementary school. Probably due to her sheltered upbringing she was very shy, very shy and very intimidated by social situations. She was always polite but very cautious about everything. more than happy to stay within the boundaries her parents set for her and her brother on Friday, February 11, 2000, the school was closed and there were reports that this was due to Presidents' Day, but in the year 2000 the Presidents Day fell on February 21st so this wouldn't make sense and plus there was basketball practice that night so if it was some kind of holiday there wouldn't have been any extracurricular activities that day and I read that there could be It was something like a teacher's work day or whatever it was just something that wasn't a holiday and the day the school was closed Asia's parents were working so they stayed with her aunt Alicia who lived right down the street.
the bizarre disappearance of asha degree
Asia's parents' street and I think Alicia also lived with her grandmother Harold's mother, so that afternoon Alicia took Asia and O'Brien to school for basketball practice. They both had practice because they both had games the next day in Burns and Asia's high school game was before. O'Brien's and she was complaining about a leg injury before and during the game and she played point guard and I read that she was like the star of the team too so she was actually ruled out of this game and then her team had the first loss, her first loss of the season and Asia just blamed herself for this, she was honestly crying and felt like she let her teammates down, but because of Bryant's game she seemed to feel better, she was playing, joking and laughing with she. friends and their teammates and then after the O'Brien game was over, they all came home the next day, February 13, and they went to Alicia's house again in the morning and they all went to the Ambassador of the Missionary Baptist Church, which is there with me idiot w a CR we have a suburb of Lake Town here called Wacoal and it's spelled the same but with LM n so I'll go with Waker but you know it's probably wrong as always I try to pronounce something, then they went back to that at Alicia's house, they had lunch and also had some Valentine's Day that their grandmother Joanne had given them, sir, she was in a very good mood that day, probably because of the Valentine's sweets she received. her father had to work his second job at PPG Industries that night so when they returned home they just went home to her mother Aquila, when they got home she lay on the couch for a while until she got ready to go to bed and got in.
Her nightgown, which was white, had red trim and she had pigtails in her hair, so around 8 p.m. She went to bed and so did O'Brien because they shared a room, so they went to bed at the same time. I guess there was a storm coming that night too and I think around 6 p.m. There was a car accident, so all the power in the neighborhood went out, but it apparently came back on when Hal got home, which was around 12:30 a.m. m., and when Harold arrived home at 12:30 a.m. It was also February 14th, so it was his anniversary and unfortunately it was also the day Aysia disappeared.
When Harold got home, the first thing he did was go see the kids, so this was, of course, around 12:30am. m. because it was the first thing he did. he did and when he checked on them, both children were in their beds still asleep and then between 12:30 and 2:00 2:30 the details are a little sketchy and not incomplete in the sense that it's murky but incomplete and The fact that we don't really know what happened, there's a little room for debate, sir. Normally, when Harold gets home from a night shift, he goes and watches TV for a while, so he did this until 2:30 or because it was Valentine's Day, he could have gone out and bought some Valentine's Day candy.
Valentin before returning home at 2:30 a.m. m. and then at 2:30 a.m. m. He checked on the kids one more time before going to bed and both of us kids are still there. there sleeping for a while after 2:30 O'Brien is like Asia moving around a little, which excited him. He looked at Asia who was standing in her robe and then I think she just went to the bathroom and then came back and then a little later she woke up again because it seemed to her that her bed was squeaking which she just assumed was her like moving around. while you were sleeping, sir, you didn't even bother to check, like waking you up and then you.
You know when you're really tired you just go back to sleep. Quiller woke up around 5:45 a.m. m. that morning, which was a little earlier than usual, but it was Valentine's Day, it was his wedding anniversary and he needs to get the The kids got up a little earlier today because the night before, like I said, there was a power outage, they couldn't have their bar, so she wanted to get them up a little earlier so they could shower normally in the morning. she would get the kids up around 6:30 a.m. but obviously, like I said, she wanted to get them up a little earlier this day because she wanted them to take a bath, so she went to put their makeup on and she noticed that O' Bryant was sleeping in her bed but she noticed that Asia wasn't in her bed and she wasn't He wanted to panic right away, he just thought that maybe he got up early and maybe he was somewhere in the house or going to the bathroom or something.
She continued searching the house and that's when she saw how panicked she was because she couldn't find it anywhere. She immediately went and called Harold, who then called Alicia and her mother, her grandmother Joanne, just wanted to ask if Asia was there. there too, they said no and at that moment Aquila hears a car, so she runs out, puts on some shoes, rushes outside, looks at both cars, but of course like Asia isn't there, I don't know why I said "like them." Then a cooler calls her mom because she's almost hysterical and she just panics. At this point, she's freaking out.
Her mother is trying to calm her down over the phone and tells her to hang up the phone and call the police immediately, which Akula does. 6:40am, less than 10 minutes and then less than 10 minutes since discovering Asia was missing, police arrived at the property with search dogs, unfortunately the dogs were of no help at this time, they were unable to detect the scent from Asia, which was probably Due to the storm that night, I was reading a little about it and normally the rain would like to bring out the smell a little more and make it easier for the dogs to track, but unfortunately, if the rain mixes with the wind, it's easier.
She gets the smell everywhere and mixes it up and makes it harder for the dogs to track anything so that was probably the case so the police continued to look around the house and Harold O'Brien and Aquila when they looked around of the house. neighborhood and knocking on doors asking everyone in the neighborhood if they had seen Asia and just yelling her name hoping she would be somewhere at 7:00 a.m. Many of the neighbors were awake so they came out to try to help them look for Asia. and throughout the day all the friends, family and people from the church came and started helping in any way they could, unfortunately no one could find anything and that includes the police.
They thoroughly checked around the house, they didn't see any signs of forced entry and all the doors to the house were still locked so they locked the house and then decided to spread out and search all around neighborhood by neighborhood street by street trying to find find Asia or some clue of a shell that was not found much the first day in everything except a mitten that could have belonged to Asia but Aquila said no and that she was not missing any winter clothing but very soon after the police discovered that His backpack and several items of his clothing were missing from us, according to reports that the only items missing were the backpack, of course, a small notebook with a photo of Tweety, a pair of pants, a pair of sneakers and a...
What do you call a pair of pants? a pair of pants, it was just a pair of pants and also a t-shirt so because of this because there was obviously a backpack missing there are no signs of forced entry the police theorize that Asia had left alone and not only do they theorize that Asia was left alone but also that they think that it wasn't like that she wakes up randomly one night and decides to leave, they think that it could have been planned and that she was just planning to leave at this specific time, but they have no idea what her reasoning behind this would have been and this actually became most things. where the speculation comes from in this case, for example why she would leave, her parents didn't know they were adamant and that she wouldn't have left, they just couldn't think of any reason why she would have left or why she would want to leave especially considering his very sheltered upbringing she just didn't seem like the kind of kid who would just get up and leave like that she was deathly afraid of dogs she was deathly afraid of storms and dogs not only was it strange that she had No there was reason to leave, but it was also a really strange time for her to leave that same night on the 14th, the media had caught wind of the story, so the police of Asia's family and Asia's photos had been plastered all over the television.
Aquila decided to use this. in her favor and begged anyone who had her to bring her back or anyone who knew anything to come forward and of course with the media attention came some witness statements as well. Witnesses first called the police saying they had seen a girl who matched. In Asia's description that morning, the girl matching Ash's description was seen on Highway 18, which is a two-lane country road and stretches for 145 miles both north and south. This route was also taken by Asia's school bus, so it was familiar to him and I guess he would have known where the road would have ended and because this road is so long, there are different parts, like when you drive on a highway.
I'm sure you know that there are beautiful scenic areas over boring areas that are not very good. Lighted areas on this particular stretch of road near where she was seen were very poorly lit, there are no lights on this section so it can be very difficult to navigate further separate witnesses came across a motorist and a truck driver and they both said They saw Asia walking south through Shelby on Highway 18 between 3:30 a.m. m. and 4:15 a.m. m. and Asia's family lived a few miles north of the main Shelby's area, so from these witness statements it was theorized that she was walking into town considering she was walking away from her parents' house towards the city, so I was very fed, it was already cold, but it was 3 a.m. m., so it was even colder and the strange thing about this is that the witnesses who saw her said that she was only wearing a long-sleeved white tesha and also from what the witnesses said she was wearing there, they were able to confirm that the sightings of the witnesses were true because in a certain waycorrelated what he was wearing with items missing from his home, one driver said he was worried. when he saw her and you know, I'm actually surprised that he didn't call 911 and that none of these witnesses called 9-1-1 at that time because imagine seeing a nine-year-old girl on a cold night. breaking in just wearing a t-shirt and a backpack I like three and walking down the road like he was so shocked that there were like five witnesses that saw her and none of them called 911 until they saw it on TV and the police.
They were able to corroborate that their stories added up and that they actually saw her, so it's very confusing to me why they wouldn't have called 911 because maybe if they knew, Asia would be here anyway, this driver said he saw her, he was obviously worried, As you would be, he turned around to come see her, but the storm was so bad that he ended up having to do the same. three more U-turns to go back and find her and he rolled down her window when he finally found her to ask her if she was okay but she got scared and ran into the woods or not, they weren't really woods.
It was like I would insert a picture, yeah, but you know, when you go down the road and there's all these trees lining up like that, it wouldn't actually be really dense, it wouldn't really be a forest, like deciding it was about 1.3 miles to the south. from his house right near the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 180 and this is the last sighting of a sight and for two days after all these witnesses arrived there was nothing, but on February 17th, just three days after

disappearance

and this It was on Highway 18, about a hundred yards from the road and west of where she was last seen, and they found a shed that used Turner's Upholstery.
The shed was located at the end of a long driveway and was practically full of furniture such as a tractor and things for the business Debbi Tona, the owner of the business, said that on February 15, just one day after the disappearance, she found some items in the shed that initially shouldn't make the connection, but when the police showed up on Thursday and also When he was able to search, he remembered and I think it was only three items: there was a Mickey Mouse heifer, a green pencil, a green maka and a pencil, and these were found right inside the shed, so the police obviously immediately began searching the area and as they searched, they found candy wrappers that they could connect to these Valentine's Day gift bags that all the girls of the Asian basketball team received at Saturday night's game and also brought several sniffer dogs, but again they could not match Asia's scent.
It has been suggested that Asia entered the shed to escape the storm and it has also been suggested that perhaps she was taken to this shed, but neither have been confirmed of course, and this shed actually raised some questions as to why, Obviously, it would be there. this shed and also why it took the police three days to go look at this shed that was so close to the area where she was last seen. Nothing else was found in the investigation, despite the investigators' best efforts, including increasing all their search efforts. the shed and around the shed area sir, a week after the disappearance they called off the search of course they were still investigating the case they were just no longer searching on foot because they had invested more than nine thousand man hours in the Over the course of a week and a Despite all these hours, they found literally nothing substantial, nothing that could give them any clue, any information, anything to report to the police.
As I mentioned, Asia ran away on her own, but many people disagree with this. I personally don't disagree with this because I don't see any other option, so she left of her own free will, there was no force or signs of forced entry, sorry and all the doors were still locked, but Armony was the Director of Children missing and exploited and said that children do not usually start running away until they are twelve years old. I don't know how true that is and especially at 3 years old. I feel like it's a really dangerous time that someone would definitely feel comfortable with, obviously. not only would a random person like me not see a child through it and decide to kidnap him, but it's a time when it's not broad daylight, so it's more likely that if someone who had bad intentions would see it , you would feel safe enough. kidnap her.
I also think the police agree with the theory that she ran away and then she might have run into someone who didn't have the best of intentions. The authorities said that it was very difficult to track her because normally in kidnapping cases the kidnapper or the killer has been tracking this person, has been watching them, so maybe he has been grooming them and left some clues, but in this case, if it was someone who had bad intentions that just saw her walking down this path, you know that there is no planning, there is nothing, so there are no clues and it is more difficult or impossible to trace in this case, I think, especially if it's a random person that she had no ties to and who just took advantage of an opportunity that you can't link her to. someone you can't look for people around her in March 2000 the researchers had nothing, so they turned to Asia's parents.
They had previously stated that Nacio Herald and Aquila were not suspects, but they only asked them to take a polygraph and they both took the polygraph. They both passed the polygraph at the end of that, just thought I'd mention it. Members of the FBI and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the State of North Carolina decided to come together and help and assist with the case and also for the next few years. months the

degree

family enough public appearances to plead for the safe return of their daughter any information about her return I think Oprah Winfrey The Oprah Winfrey show had something about it in an episode or something in an episode about Asia

degree

she too was on America's The Family was on America's Most Wanted and the Montel Williams Show, but despite all this coverage that was still nothing, it wasn't until August 3, 2001 that investigators got their first evidence. from the shed about 26 miles which is approximately 41, just over 41 kilometers north of the shed along Highway 18.
Asia's backpack was found and the thing about finding this backpack here is that it is little Asia likely left her there, considering the last time she was seen was just a mile away from her. Her parents' house, so this is 26 miles from where she was last seen. This 44-year-old man named Harry Fleming was a county contractor and was clearing a piece of land to prepare it to build a house while he was using a grader. He discovered a trash bag that appeared to have something inside, so he opened the trash bag inside. There was another trash bag that had something else in it.
Inside both garbage bags was a backpack and this backpack had a nurse inside that had Asia. name and a phone number and this was about 50 feet off the shoulder of Highway 18, so at that time this guy, Terry, had no idea about this case, he didn't know who a shoe was, he had never heard anything about the case, so The only thing that made him write the name and number was that he had a very bad feeling about it. It was a strange place for a trash bag, a backpack with only a name and a number. It was strange that the backpack was in two garbage bags under strange circumstances, he didn't feel good about it, so he wrote down the name, he wrote down the number and the next morning at breakfast he told his wife what he had discovered. about the name, the number and her.
He had the case and immediately recognized the name and immediately contacted the police sergeant. He was called to the rescue teams. They immediately asked about the area but found no clue except the backpack. The FBI ended up taking the bag into their possession for forensic testing, but they never released the results of the forensic test. They also did not release a complete list of the items found in the backpack. There are some websites that claim it was personal things like her basketball uniform and some photos of her family, but of course there is nothing. officer who has been released, but what officials said after finding the backpack is that because of this discovery they definitely think there was some type of foul play involved in the way she was buried.
Investigators theorized that the kidnapper or kidnappers buried her in the Woods, took it to the woods and buried it so no one would find it, but the bag raised many questions such as why it was buried there, why it was kept inside two garbage bags. instead of trying to get rid of it like burning it or you know, throwing it off a cliff because there was a big mountainous area around where they lived. Nothing else came out of the bag and the investigators, the police, continue to receive tips, but none turned up. None of them came forward with any evidence in 2004.
One specific tip came up that we don't really know what it was and it wasn't published, but it was enough for the police to start digging. The tip came from an inmate at the county jail and involved possible remains. I guess these are possible remains because at the corner of Shelby and Rube Spangler Road in Lawndale they started digging, they were digging for possible remains but they didn't find anything there except some animal bones in 2015 the FBI announced that some FBI investigators some Cleveland County Sheriff's officials and that the state Bureau of Investigation were re-examining the case were interviewing witnesses offered a $25,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and the locals also raised enough funds to also put up $20,000 for this. , so it ended up being a forty-five thousand dollar reward for any information leading to an arrest, but despite the new investigation and despite the reward, nothing like what I said was as incredibly frustrating as it is in this case, There is nothing that wasn't until May.
In 2016, investigators finally released their first new information since the discovery of his backpack, nearly 15 years earlier, the FBI issued a statement saying they had new evidence from a new witness who had come forward: they had seen a girl who matched the description of Ash entering. a dark green car on Highway 18, right near where she was last seen, the car was said to be a late 70's Ford Thunderbird or a Lincoln Mark Four, both very similar in style, the FBI stated that the vehicle was now a vehicle of interest and had apparently been occupied twice on the day of Asia's disappearance, the vehicle was never found and I'm honestly not surprised because this came to light 17 years after the disappearance.
I'm so confused as to why anyone would date 17 years old. after someone's disappearance to give new evidence anyway and 17 years after they disappeared you know they probably sold the car or probably destroyed it, they got rid of the car somehow 17 years is a really long time to have the car, so I think I would be optimistic that she finds it, so that's really all the evidence, if you can call it evidence. I feel like I didn't tell you anything because there really isn't anything, so let's go ahead and talk about theories now, the first theory is that aha. he was a sleepwalker and sleepwalking is apparently not uncommon, especially in children, and it's actually crazy or what people can do when they sleepwalk and don't even realize it.
I've heard stories that Kerry had actually slept and walked before, when we used to stay at her parents' house one night. he got up in the middle of the night he walked into his sister's room he yelled her name like he screamed her name it's okay how he went back to bed and I had no idea I fell asleep it wasn't until the next morning that we found out because his sister I told him and his family what I had done and he said I didn't do that, she said yes she did, you turned on my light and I was telling you to get out but he didn't and he said I do.
I don't do that, I don't remember, it's strange, so this theory suggests that I should get up, get out of bed, get dressed because, like I said, when Brian saw her and when he went to bed, she had a verb, but when she was . I saw her dressed like a t-shirt, some pants and she got up, got out of bed, changed, grabbed her backpack, left the door locked and walked a mile before she was seen and at some point while walking she woke up, already whatever it was when this. The truck driver or this person called her and she, scared, ran into the forest, maybe this person calling her picked her up and that's why she got scared because she had no idea what was happening where she was, so she ran down. she ran to the woods or maybe she ran to the shed for shelter because, like I said, she hadShe was afraid of the dark and she was afraid of the storm, so she woke up and said, "Oh my God, she was totally overwhelmed or maybe she was discovered by a kidnapper walking on her wall.
Another possibility is that while she was sleepwalking she walked towards him. road at some point and she was the unfortunate victim of a hit and run and this person who hit her maybe got scared didn't know what to do and so they hid her body, the hit and run doesn't really make sense to me because I feel like that would be some kind of sign, like something left in the road, maybe some blood if it was enough of a hit to have killed someone. I feel like it would have been blood or something, so that doesn't really make sense to me and the theory of the sleepwalking, although I personally don't believe it.
I think it's like a massive online theory. The next theory is of course that one. Asia is gone, which is the theory the police believe and have believed since the beginning of the disappearance, the main evidence of this is his backpack, they believe he packed it before that morning preparing to leave that morning and even if he did. I didn't pay a price for that morning, even if she did that day, I still think it's great evidence that she obviously left her cell in class, her whole class was reading this book called The Scapegoat, which was written by CID Fleshman .
I know, I didn't say that, right, this book involves two characters on the run and focuses a lot on their adventures after they ran away, some people actually believe that she was inspired by this book and that she wanted to go ahead and mention how the characters in the book, so he packed his bags and planned to live the story. I mean, this could be possible because she lived a very sheltered life, so maybe this book made her feel like she was missing out on something and that she wanted to feel or experience those things that the characters in these books felt.
I honestly feel like the sheltered kids are the ones who end up the most. They rebel the most because they want to experiment, so they have an experience, so they experience them all at once when they realize, I don't know if they realize that West is the right word. , but she was only nine years old, so I feel like she probably wasn't old enough to realize that she was very sheltered and that she was missing out on a lot, and besides, she seemed to be fine with living her life as if she didn't overstep the boundaries of her parents.
She hadn't really done anything at school as if she were very happy to comply with the rules that her parents had imposed on her, she had never shown any signs of rebellion or anything like that from her. The experts also chimed in and said that it usually takes more than this for a child to run away, they say it usually takes a child to run away from something, whether it's a family situation, whether it's something at school or you know an incident. what happened or a specific person, some people talked about the basketball game. and how maybe that triggered it.
Honestly, I don't think it was a big enough event to warn him to run away, especially considering he got over it pretty quickly and you know, he was laughing playing with his basketball friends, it's possible that something else was going on. Maybe something was going on at school, people were making fun of her and we didn't find out, maybe something was going on at home and she didn't have, you know, a good home life, someone at home was, I don't know, I've had. I didn't hear any reports about any of this, but maybe something else was going on.
Another thing to keep in mind in this theory is that not only did she not like to cross her parents' boundaries, but she was deathly afraid of dogs, which scared her a lot. She would leave the house alone and she was also deathly afraid of storms and the doctor, so it's really interesting that she would leave the house alone at 2:30 a.m. in the middle of a storm, so really this theory has some things that make it more plausible, but also the most confusing thing, at the same time, was that she left alone or maybe she was prepared for it, cursed.
I haven't read anything about it, there's no real evidence of it and she led a very sheltered life, so who could have? I've been close enough to her to prepare her to do something like that. I still think the theory that she left alone is really the only theory. It's simply what happened after she left alone and why she left alone. I feel like I'm rambling here and going on a tangent, but I feel like it's obvious that she left alone, but why did she leave alone and what happened after she left, it's obvious that she left alone, but why would she let his house at like 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. in the morning, despite all that stuff about runaway dogs and stuff, I talked about how someone stopped around 4:15 a.m. to ask her if she was okay and she, scared, ran into the woods and possibly in a then, what happened to her when she went into that shed?
She was cooking in a vehicle. Did anyone see her? The backpack is definitely what makes her look like she was kidnapped because otherwise how would her backpack end up 26 miles from where? she was last seen she was not seen anywhere else nor was she seen near the backpack I feel like someone would have seen it if she had to travel 26 miles maybe she got lost and just succumbed to the elements? Or you know, she got disoriented and tripped over something and if someone found her, what are the chances that someone who wanted to maybe murder or kidnap a child was the one who discovered it?
Well, let's talk about this guy named Donald Ferguson in January 2014 Ferguson. was arrested for the sexual assault and murder of seven-year-old Shalonda Poole, she was found dead behind Jones Elementary School and her manner actually took place in Greensburg, North Carolina in 1990. He was convicted of this crime and sentenced to two life sentences for it, he was actually found through DNA evidence and it turns out that he actually knew the victim, was a friend of the family, even helped search for her when she disappeared a year after the murder took place for First time in 1990. He was actually arrested for sexually assaulting a ten year old girl.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of sexually assaulting this ten year old girl. He was sentenced to eight years and was released in October 1997 at the time of the disappearance of Asia this guy Ferguson was actually known to be in North Carolina, I think he was in Spottingsburg, which was about 38 miles from Shelby and about 140 miles from where he landed, who was killed, now this guy was a lot, he had a history really bad in 1989. is when he sexually assaulted the ten year old girl and was arrested in June but got bail in July 1990 he sexually assaulted murdered Shalonda pool and in August 1998 her grandmother was shot dead in March 1991 he pleaded guilty of the 1989 assault and was sentenced to eight years in prison, but was released in 1997, as I mentioned, five days after his release, he and some members of his family were arrested for the death of his grandmother, but they were all released due to lack of evidence.
In 2008 he was arrested in Gaffney, South Carolina, for failing to register as a sex offender. In November 2012, he was arrested for defrauding a bank and was sentenced to one year, but he just served the sentence and then in January 2014, he was arrested and charged. Due to the sexual assault and murder of seven-year-old Sherlynda Pool between 1999 and 2000, her whereabouts were not known and this is the time when she should disappear and, what's more, Asia was actually within the range of age and physical appearance he seemed. to be attracted, so in Asia's case, he is definitely a suspect for many people.
I don't think he was ever really a suspect or ever investigated and that brings us to the last theory that Asia was kidnapped by someone she knew and like I said before I think maybe she was persuaded to do it like that. Maybe a family friend or a teacher or a pastor had something to do with it I feel like it had to be someone very close to the family because like I mentioned a million times she lived a very sheltered life so they would have had to be close to the family so that he could have enough time with her to prepare her or persuade her to pressure her into doing this, she could even have been like a friend of hers. from school or someone from her basketball team and maybe they had a prearranged place which was the shed and that's why he went there to take shelter and took some items out of her bag because he was maybe there waiting for someone.
