Hey guys, it's a beautiful day for music, it's a wonderful day for sound, I'm Marcus, let's play the drums, we'll start with eighth notes in the right hand, nice, beautiful wrist movements in the left hand, one, two, three , four, one and two and three and four relaxing those shoulders making sure we're breathing nice and easy letting a stick help push back that drum head or that pad right now we're just playing like a good normal forte nothing too big on this moment right hand and um consistent notes with the left hand, I'm going to go into what we call double stop, so both hands will be played together.

I want to really make sure that I keep rotating my wrist and just gripping the club as much as possible. since I really need to not squeeze too much, have a nice, relaxed but consistent point of support on the front of my hand here, making sure I'm not trying to touch it with my arm, a nice, relaxed movement of the wrist, I'm trying of hitting the drum head. at exactly the same time so there's no flames right now right hand right left hand and oh we're going to do two notes per hand so doubles here is right right left left right right left left and at least while I'm doing this here I want that both notes rise to the top again.

It will really help us later. It's not necessary for this speed, but it's something that will really help us, especially when we get a little faster. Yes, and I want to. that second note should be as loud as the first, we don't want it to fade or get softer, so two turns of the wrist is nice and even for me baby, relax those shoulders, consistent sounds with single hits, alternating right left right left right left right left right left right left a very nice one. I'm going to add some right hand doubles or right hand diddles and the rhythm will be kind of a sixteenth note added on the first beat, yeah, that's what it'll sound like. like one in two and three and four and one in two and three and four and one e and two and three and that e is going to be in my hand right right right left right so I'm just duplicating that note yeah come on try it so that The rest of the notes don't change and it's a mix between twisting that wrist twice and using the bounce of the drum head, but I'm definitely telling the stick where to go, especially at this tempo, making sure I don't have any extra tension. on that right shoulder as I'm playing these doubles with my right hand, relaxing my face, gentle, even breaths one end two and three and four and one end two and another set of doubles making sure I don't add anything.

Extra tension on your body when you get to those doubles, you still want to be nice and relaxed everywhere else and let your hands do the work for you. Yes, now some of you might be tempted if you can't do this right away with one stroke. Which is an option if you just have to go this slow, but I'd rather we fight a little bit and go at this pace with the doubles so we can be awesome later on, yeah, so it's okay if it's not. It sounds good right now, I'm still working on those double ones and twos and a lot of times I like to control myself by playing something that doesn't bounce, so sometimes when I'm practicing I fold a shirt and I'll put it on my right leg, it hurts a little if you don't have some kind of extra cushioning, money on the two and the three, and those fingers can definitely help you make your real double more even.

Yeah, nice and soft, and just to check it out, I'm going to move around a little bit. I'm going to move it back and forth from my leg to here to make sure I'm still stroking some of these. I'm being nice and intentional with these doubles, I'm going to stay on the actual drum, I like it, honey, now I'm going to alternate beats staying nice and relaxed, rotating those wrists and I'm looking for a smooth, even sound that flows. Like water in the ocean, honey, oh, now what I'm going to do here in a second is go back and forth between those doubles and the singles and I'm going to try to make them sound absolutely the same.
Same thing here are the doubles singles and I'm comparing them doubles it wasn't so smooth singles that was good good doubles that was a little better singles oh that's good good doubles ok I like that single making sure I'm relaxed doubles yeah that was good , singles, okay, we're there, doubles, oh, singles, and as I switch back and forth, doubles, not only do I want to hear my sound, but I also want to hear my body, singles and doubles, singles, very pretty, doubles, singles. oh, doubles singles, I'm going to stay on the singles, I'm going to turn them up, so come on, give me a nice fortissimo and as we get louder, I want to make sure my body doesn't tense up.
I'm just spinning. my wrist back further back to a forte a little further down this is a mezzo forte still nice and soft nice and even for me go down to the piano in Mexico yes, go down to a real piano yes, relax that body, relax that face yes there's tension in your body, it's going to be very difficult to keep these notes nice, even and smooth, beautiful playing points on my pad here, sometimes my left hand doesn't match my right hand, so I'm really trying to pay attention to that. Keep going down, bringing it back up to a normal piano, yeah, I like it, I'm just going to put the accent on the first beat and when I turn that wrist back I don't want to add any extra squeeze to my hand. to keep it as nice and relaxed as possible like like like oh and I'm going to keep those little notes exactly where they were, you got it baby, I'm going to put my accent now on beats one and two one two one, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh nice and relaxed, turning that wrist for that accent, oh relaxed body, especially when you have those accents keeping them here nice and low, let's go up, up, up and down, keep going down all the way. to pianissimo, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, and it was a lot of fun.
