Google Maps Roadside Fishing Challenge -- (Creek Fishing MADNESS)

in the Google Maps road. The main mission and objective is simple. I'm going to get on my phone, click on that little Google Maps icon, and see if we can find some new juicy honey holes found all over this part of central Maine. Every place we are going to fish today is brand new, I have never fished it, this is a

challenge

that I suggest you participate in.

I find a lot of my really good spots through Google Maps, so I hope today I can find a new honey hole that I can revisit in later videos. The first order of business is that we need to find a place to fish. The whole mission is to find lakes, ponds, streams and streams that are right next to the road. Now a lot of people don't have boats or kayaks, and that's something I can do. I appreciate it because that's how I grew up

fishing

, so I hope I can shed some light on how to find really good water just by looking at your phone on a free app, which is Google Maps, there are a lot of apps that help you. fishing, but Google Maps is the best in my opinion, okay, so we're here, we're just outside of Bangor Maine, we already have some places saved right here, I don't know, I don't even know. what is that, I think it's a restaurant, but let's take a look at this.

We are right next to the Penobscot River, which I know personally and which contains some pretty good smallmouth bass and also some striped bass that pour into the Scott phenomenon. This looks nice. Well, wow, how do you pronounce it? That's why the low to cook the stream reservoir. Don't know. There's probably nothing better than me. Nice waterfall that flows into the Penobscot River. Good waterfall. Cool. I like it. I'm always looking for moving water. If you see some white water on your map, chances are it's cool and oxygenated and there are some fish down there. I just don't know where to go out four minutes away, perfect somewhere nearby. We start, today we are looking for anything, trout, perch, pike, lamprey, nothing safe, nothing safe for us, I have two rods, an ultralight and a medium, let's see if we can destroy them. I have two big tackle boxes, all my accessories. plastic baits in here, um, you can also put a full size bottle of striper candy in case you're wondering, but you can also put fishing tackle in here too if that's your thing, I don't know, but I have four trays. Here's a bunch of soft plastics from Googan. I'm not sure what they're going to bite today. It's pretty hot and the water is low, so it can be difficult to catch them, but I have everything I need here, like I said. Check them out now, they won't be available for long.

I feel like I'm in a postcard. This is beautiful. I really don't know what to expect for fishing from here. Probably some small bluegill, some bass, maybe some perch. The real target today is a small slimy, stinging lamprey, but this looks good. Today I have a rod with me, something a little different. I'm launching an ultralight. Normally I'm throwing the 610 like Googan Gold or Green, but this right here is a We're working on a new one, it's a micro, we work on our own micro series for trout, perch, panfish and for scenarios like this, for people who just They want to know, pull over to the side of the road and make a cast, it's an eight foot piece. ultralight and we also have the new size 1000 googan green spinning reel, how good does that look on this rod? oh it's a match made in heaven, oh there we go, finally what did I hook?, oh my lord, oh my god that's a small mouth.

There are bigger ones here, but this is how we start today. Such pretty stuff, oh, it's just soaked. We'll launch, let's get a couple more molds here. It looks like it's as shallow as it is back there, but you can give it a fair shake, sometimes the water is even only a foot deep in some of these streams, which makes for good fishing because the bigger fish than any Once they were in those deep waters they condense and start hiding in super shallow shaded areas and uh. you can't get a good chance, but the problem is that they're probably pretty rare and pretty spread out all over the river, but there are two more stops there that will drop a little firecracker and we'll see if we can make a bet. if not on point number two, oh there we go, another smallmouth, come on, it was small, a little bigger, forward progression, baby, forward progression started with one inch, now we're working with two, that's a Two inch quality bass, these things look perfect.

When they are this small they don't have bumps, scratches or scrapes, they are fresh, fresh, small mouth, bye, see you friend, okay, we are two for two, let's keep drinking, oh another, oh another, we're in the sauce. Right now, honey hole, another smallmouth, oh my god, I'm completely crushing them. I want to get a big one so we can feel what it's like to roll like a pound or two into this ultra ultralight, but right now we're. we're busy with these dinks, I mean this isn't even a dink, whatever's under a dink, that's what we're catching equally fun, although they're actually bending the rod, which is awesome, I was completely illuminated.

You smashed them, you could pass them buddy, for a bass fisherman it's a hard life anyway, I'd say it was like a 2 out of 10 for quality, but it was fun, it's a beautiful place, it's so crazy how you can go straight from pavement towards what is essentially mother nature like the pinnacle deep in a stream that is full of fish. I want to try to stick to the fishing streams mainly because it seemed to follow the path of a road or highway. I saw this before pulling from a pond. I've never fished here before, but there seems to be plenty of shore access.

I can see this is definitely worth it. Maybe you'll find a good place to park right there and walk around a bit. I think so. saved, but I think there's probably some smallmouth and bigmouth in there, perch, bluegill, just a to z when it comes to the main warmwater species. Normally when I film these videos we go north and film a little closer to where the camp is located, but this time. I want to change it up I want to try some of these south central places that I don't normally hit come on you heard the lady we're here point number two I think I might bring two rods with me I have a seven foot gold finesse too for some larger species but I really want to something big to eat up the ultralight setup.

We're going to try this area and then another area that's basically part of the entire water system, but a little grass and vegetation might catch a pike. largemouth bass not sure we have two rods though let's make it happen we'll do a little shot off this bridge it looks really deep let's see if we can get a big ol' ground up one in the deep here we go oh. feels decent feels decent first decent what do we have here oh my favorite my favorite come here come here different species oh he came out no it was a pike or what I like to call them dead girl I'm on it change things I'm throwing a crazy little worm of cinnamon now I found a knife oh, I'm betting, they're betting on us and we're on it, it took no time at all, oh, it feels pretty good, what do we have here?

I'm going to save you, I'm going to save you, unfortunately I can't remove that hook from your throat, but at least I can't cut the line so you can swim free and have a chance to digest that hook. Oh, he doesn't like it. I see this is what he caught, he probably ate someone's live bait. It's been a while, but it's fun, it's what I grew up fishing with. I really didn't know. You know I had to use heavier rods for bigger fish, but it was kind of fun. You know, using an ultralight for almost anything. I would chase it, I mean, I used to fish for pike in ultralights and you know, largemouth and largemouth, it's a lot of fun, especially in a

scenario like this, it turns these one and two pound largemouths into absolute giants. Look, it's a beautiful fish too. perfect and attractive colors and everything, and for the launch that was sweet, that was so tight, let's do it again, where there is current and clean water, there are usually those guys nearby who felt so cool that one ate the log too of five-inch cinnamon as well.

I usually cast as small cranks or with Ned rigged in streams like this, but I wanted to try something a little different with the water also so thin. I think a Ned team would be overkill. I like the net for deeper pulls, but when you're fishing in one to three feet of water, it's best to cast something light and weightless, super delicate too, oh yeah, wait for another one, oh, I've got another one, I've got another one, I don't know If it's bigger, oh, it feels decent. oh it feels decent oh my god oh my god come here oh this thing is pulling I think it's another good one I think it's another good one Caleb is actually standing there and I did the cast right oh Oh my god, I just broke up, no, that was it. a big fish that was a big fish that was bigger than the last one sure there's one there's one nice pretty nice fish molly oh good mouth girl come on baby come on baby good mouth girl come on come here come here about the same size as the last one, oh my god come here buddy, oh what a fun fight, oh he got tangled, oh now he's fighting, now he's giving me the beans, soccer balls, man they fight real hard too Oh, no way, wait, wait, wait, no way, no way, no way. wait wait no way that's the fish I just lost there's my hook you've got to be kidding me no damn way I just lost this fish oh my god wait this is crazy dude this is absolutely crazy that's crazy this is the fish I had hooked earlier and I broke it, I got my hook back and I caught the smallmouth guy, that's amazing, I don't think I've ever done that before, it was only like four minutes after I broke it. fish, I hooked him again, they're not in the beds either, at least I don't think they are, it's too late, see you later buddy, that's crazy, look at him, he's chilling there, oh my god, that's cool, that It is so cool.

Very fun, two smallmouths that completely destroyed the spinning rod. It held up very well, but I will say no. I don't think it's the best option for catching small fish. It's above that three pound range. because those little guys absolutely terrified the setup, it was so much fun, I feel like a kid again chasing fish with my ultralight stick, here we go, the last spot, this has been a very very good Google Maps challenge, I fished all the new waters today and I'm not very familiar with part of Maine, so I feel like we've done well.

You know, the goal wasn't to catch a bunch of fish or even any big fish, it was just to catch one fish per spot. The way we've done it is this last spot looks pretty good, it's a similar spot that we just caught. , but the next spot seems quite improved again, just a huge waterfall system that will probably be your best bet if you want to fish. the heat of summer look for that moving water look for that white water on Google Maps I think it's worth spying and if that doesn't work we'll try one more area but I think this is it, this could be the juice, oh here we go whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa little smelly from the bridge little from the bridge wow okay, okay, how am I going to do this aerial smallmouth?

Okay, come back, go, come here, oh I got you, let's go buddy, if only this fish was bigger. I think I would have broken my line or just spit out the hook. That's a big fall for such a small guy. We're going to put it back in the water. Look, buddy, that's a decent dive. Give it a 10 9.5. about that too, if you find that release cringe worthy, just know that many states will stock their trout by plane, here's a little clip of that release which was actually a pretty subtle release compared to how other fish are put. to lakes and ponds oh here we go it feels little I think it's too little oh it came out small thank you oh again the same fish dropped it and picked it up look at my line screaming maybe a big pike will come up and eat it oh no, no It's a smallmouth, what is it?
