That is progress. It's in this neighborhood, but it's not as fast as everyone wants. This was probably the first time we really lost power like this. We had to shut down before, just short periods, you know, short periods, but obviously this was quite catastrophic. where they will spend a couple of days to turn it back on remained outside the Safeway shopping center on 236th Street. Mary Jennings came to buy bacon and eggs. She was really worried about the downstairs freezer with all our food. it's really purple Connie Cunningham and a grandson are also without power, they have a fireplace that keeps them warm for a moment, they considered renting a room just for the electricity, I told my mother in law, let's go rent a motel, let's go somewhere else where they maybe serve breakfast in bed.
I don't know, you know, that doesn't seem like a bad idea, especially if you live in a place like this, you're in Edmonds again on 224, all this mud. the snow, all this moisture clogged most of the roads including many secondary roads are cleared but here on the 224 this is going to turn into an icy state overnight, you might want to go to the hotel for now to live . Edmonds Steve Kiggins Fox 13 News thanks Steve and then let's go a couple miles east of Linwood yeah they are dealing with some major power outages there as well and Jennifer last night we saw the snow hitting that area so what are things like there ?
Well, it's pretty calm now as far as snowfall goes, but there's a lot of sleet and residents are worried about the sleet freezing. You can see there are a lot of branches behind me using the gold park in Linwood and those branches fell overnight. Heavy snow knocked those branches down, resulting in a busy morning for both residents clearing and tree companies also clearing trees overseas. Jeff Harris spent the morning cleaning up after large branches fell into his driveway and street overnight, some of the branches so big it's cold and shakes the house and you're like, oh please don't hit my car , you know, it says the branches fell in stages starting around 1 am, it just gave way and made a mess all over the street and and in the front yard and stuff, there's bound to be a big cleanup job.
Fortunately, the branches missed the family vehicles, but they had a busy morning. How is the cleaning going? It's slow and, uh, I'm out of shape, so, uh, we. I'll get there, though you know what I mean slowly. I just take it to the garden and then start cutting it from there. Curtis Katit, the general manager of Eastside Tree Works, says his crews were also very busy this afternoon with calls to clear downed trees and branches. He says the weight of the heavy snow was the biggest factor in causing those branches to break overnight, it was actually the snowfall and the heaviness.
I think everything froze and then, you know, became brittle and just fell off, he says the deciduous trees with leaves remaining were especially hard. Struck by the extra weight accumulating on branches, he says the ground has also become saturated from the rain and is causing trees to uproot and topple over, plus several trees fell around Maple School, where a truck was damaged and heavy wet snow. It was also a challenging clean up on the school grounds, it makes me feel as old as I am. I just have to clean the sidewalks and stuff, so luckily the kids are home safe and sound.
Rick says he's making good progress. but I had to make a quick stop before going to work. I forgot my gloves, but luckily they had this nice pair of women's driving gloves at the grocery store. The only pair left, but at least it keeps my hands warm. Businesses were also busy clearing snow and those who were able to stay closer to Homestead would do some cleanup later. Yes, it has snowed a lot, so just walking my dog in the snow trough took the spike out of his dog by the time we reached him. I'll shovel a little here. my driveway might need a little help from Spike, yeah I bet those Husky type dogs love the snow, but Jeff Harris tells us residents are a little nervous about potentially more snow in the forecast because That could mean

another

round of live cleanup reports in Lynnwood.
Jennifer Dowling Fox 13 News, thank you Jennifer, we now turn to our Fox 13 weather team with Lisa Villegas and mayawsky here, yes, there are a lot of questions. I know the kids didn't go to school today, a lot of them, and people are wondering what the commute is. It'll be like coming home, so let's start with Chief Meteorologist Lisa Villegas, what do we need to know Lisa well right now? We're still seeing

another

batch of precipitation, so to speak, a little mix of rain. We're seeing a little more of that too. snow we have this upper level low pressure system so we'll see some of these bands of rain and snow continuing across parts of our area so we're talking about

western

Washington especially for those in south central that sounds like Olympia.
Through Seattle and spreading east so we're talking about the Foothills now in King County and the whole area is like Snoqualmie Pass and White Pass, that's where we're seeing the most snow at this time so getting closer to Gig Harbor Lake Bay. In Tacoma, you're just seeing a little bit of that

winter

mix, you wouldn't be surprised to see those big fat flakes and come to Federal Way to see a little bit of that mix. A better shot of that Enumclaw snow and then spreading out into Snoqualmie. Pass and that's where the road conditions get very dangerous because the temperatures are freezing, in fact when we take a look at the temperatures across the board, we're in the 30s and 20s for the passes, just to give you a little quick view here.
Erin on these roads, well we're seeing that packed ice and some of us in the lowlands are a little worried that this may continue for some of us, especially in South Sound, yeah, it's like you go to sleep and you don't you were sure what are you going to wake up to, let's look at the cast of the future, this is a look as we go tonight, Wednesday night at 10 p.m. m., you can see that we are still getting those rains that Lisa was talking about from the south and we are going to see them push into Puget Sound, the heart of downtown, so yes, we could see some flurries continue in the lowlands and build up a little anywhere from Trace to maybe two and three inches and then it starts to really push as we go. this forecast, so Thursday at 4 a.m. m. we'll wake up again, many of us will get a dose from Seattle Tacoma to Olympia in that area and further east, a little bit of snow may accumulate in the morning hours.
At 8 a.m. m. We'll have another little round. We're going to have these moving lots of snow, but by the time we get to 3 p.m. m., most of it settles and pushes east toward the Cascade foothills, so overnight tonight those temperatures will drop quite a bit and chilly into the 20s for most of us heading south toward Shelton at 28 31 for Seattle the average is now 38 degrees for our overnight seasonal high so you can see where we are going with this, our seasonal highs should be right in the upper 40's but we will stay in the mid 30's to low 40's.
We will maintain our weather alert until the morning hours due to that trip, it will be cold and cold on Friday and Saturday, we will detail a little more. but there are pockets of downpours and some sun
