My dad. 20 long years. for the first time in a long time, but I played banjo for a long time and I was like this little ukulele here is messing with this guy. This is good because it fits anywhere. BR went to Fiji in 2014 and one of the locals carved on the back of the ukulele there was kind of cool, but this thing looks pretty, life still has a lot of life left in it, though I think it's coffee time anyway , so let's have some. get there, finish that cup, although the

snow

storm outside requires a good Complete Cup, that's pretty good.

I really enjoy coming here and camping and doing exactly what you guys are seeing in the movie right now. This is my favorite way to simply Reconnect with myself and taking a step back gives me time to process my life and reflect on things. I think about the things I want to do. I think about the memories I have enjoyed and having time like this to be alone and reflect. It helps you figure out what you want in life and what path you want to choose and I think it's important for everyone to find a way to take the time to do that for themselves.

I really don't know what the future will be. Wait for me, but I know it's been an amazing journey so far and I don't regret a thing. You know, he just sees the day for what it is and you make the most of it, wake up and do it again. the next day and I'm working on some edits right now, so this is the reality of YouTube here, this is how I spend a good part of my day working on videos and editing clips and hours and hours and hours of footage, uh, no just, obviously, filming takes a while. a lot of time, but editing takes just as much time, if not more, than filming, so it's a creative process you have to try to keep people interested and make it fun, so here we are editing some videos about building cabins.

Well, I didn't know how. high to put the floor sockets like a countertop exactly, you know, like the kitchen counter, I don't know how, yeah, you know you can't, you can't do that, from the floor. I have to know what the height of your countertop is, yeah, I mean the standard is like 30, isn't it like 3 feet, more or less like 36 inches, yeah, 3 36 37, sometimes 35 for those of you who Don't you know that my dad builds? uh, houses cabins, he's been doing that for half his life and uh, I had to call him a lot during the construction of this house just to get some advice because I know what I'm doing, but not really, so uh, yeah , this is working in the video on how to run electricity in the house right now, the amazing thing about this wood stove is that it is so hot that I have to open the window half the time.
It's really nice to have a fire in your house too, that's something I'm really excited about. About building the new cabin I'm working on, I would say maybe 2 months after I finish it it will be totally finished and I have a wood stove in there and it will be a great place to hang out. The

snow

is already accumulating on the porch or a little Breezy from time to time, when I'm editing I just like to go outside for a second and wake up a little, okay, let's see how it is, we have to get pretty. low so that it doesn't get too hot there, it's time to put another log here.
I'll let those embers die down a little longer. Many of you have asked me what type of wood stove this is. That K is there. for Kimberly it's a Kimberly wood stove and I've had it in this

camper

for 5 years and I also had it in my Toyota camper before I built it. I took it out of my Toyota 4x4 camper and put it here. I've been swinging. Kimberly wood stoves, uh, since 2011, about 13 years and it's completely paid for itself. The beauty of a wood stove is that it is reliable. You know, for example, right now my diesel heater is not working.
I took everything apart and rebuilt it. We all put it back together and it's still throwing error codes so I don't have that as a heat source at all, but I have a wood stove and all you have to do is put fuel in it, you know, put wood in it and it'll keep you warm there are no batteries involved there is nothing that really goes wrong so it's very good to have in your caravan I wouldn't have any other way up here one of the other realities of living in a caravan is that you need a place to go to the bathroom and a lot of people ask where it is my bathroom in this place, like how do I do that.
Well, the first thing I have is toilet paper hanging down there, where the trash can is and if you look under my wood stove. here I have a port-a-potty and this is super simple you just slide it out on a little platform I built and turn it around and that's it, then you can use the potty as you need when you're done, turn it over, push it back in and One of the coolest parts of a port-a-potty like this one, which is small, is pretty much any gas station you can stop at and empty the toilet, so if you can't find an rv park or somewhere like that, you just go to most from the main gas stations and they have a little hatch in the parking lot that you lift up and dump all your stuff in and then a hose to rinse it out into the drain system in their drain system that's how you do it uhoh these guys just get stuck right there. the parking lot shows you how

deep

it's getting there it might be fun to get out of here tomorrow.
Well, they have it. I have chains on the

truck

, so if it gets too complicated, I have chains, I can throw them on the tires. an ARB air locker now so it's pretty good so I've got like Mega traction if I need it but hopefully we can get out of here tomorrow maybe we'll have to shovel a little bit we'll see this wind is just fierce. right now woo, flying the caravan around a snow storm it's moving with the winds, they're actually supposed to hit 50m an hour tonight so it's going to be a pretty gnarly night that could be quite a bit left out. drift.
I'm a little nervous, at worst. I have my fat bike on top of the car, that bike with the fat tires so I can weigh it down in the snow and get to the road there and then go down the hill. I thought I had some carbonated waters back here. but no, I have to go on a little adventure to go get something, oh, we are super crazy here, how is the snow really like. People here, guys, look at the icles here that are really piling up, I'm really going to throw. take apart my diesel heater tomorrow and try to rebuild the inside and see if we can fix it, but I'm not going to do that today, obviously, holy, look at these winds, woo, that stained glass is cool, thank you.
Joe, for doing that, that's really cool, man, getting some cool stuff here. I have that and a life friend in the

truck

that he painted, he gave that to me, um, what is all this here? It's my old license plate, a bunch of tickets to Burning Man, which is all good, I hope I can go again, friends who passed away, there was old Abe, here's the festival, they throw Six Mile Creek whitewater and Blu grass, It's usually the last weekend of July every year, it's a guy photo. to cheer me up sometimes it's nice just to see it there wake up looking at it there's a card from a friend here's a dream catcher I made when I was 14 I used to make dream catchers and S at the local store had it for a long time.
There has been a state flag there for a long time, unfortunately, this is from Puzzle World in New Zealand, when I was there they had some cool stuff there and, this is super cool, this is something my grandmother painted in 1938, when was 14 years old. 16 or so so that's really special to me and just some other cool stuff here, get some artwork from friends, a lot of people ask about this patch, there are some friends in Homer Alaska that made some of these patches that are pretty cool . some things I bought on fire, man, and a sticker that a friend made there and there's my old man up there on the day they gave me that little horseshoe which is cool and one of my favorite festivals here in Alaska and then one of My best friends ever had that hobby, Engle, um, a bunch of you have asked me about Havv in the past and if you go to Google, you can just type in uh Xavier, like Javier is what we call him Engle and uh he passed away in 2014. um kayaking on the Skyish River, I think in the Robe Canyon section in Washington, but there's some things to that, but he's a special human man.
I think it's really important if you want a place where you really feel at home just to personalize it. things that mean a lot to you, you know, that's what I tried to do here and that's why I feel at home. Oh, you know, the funny thing is, I was going to have a barbecue tonight, but I don't know if that's happening, but maybe. I have to do it because that's what I have, I have steaks to cook, so okay, this may seem a little crazy, but we're going to try grilling them because I have some steaks and I need to start eating them. one of the costco eyes be super good, okay,

deep

er, come on, we have a sweater, we have a sweater, the icicle is growing, they're almost touching the ground now anyway, we're heating up this little grill and we're going to make we make the best we can to grill some steaks and some veggies, court, this is crazy, y'all just run out, go out and check the steak a little bit.
Many of you are probably wondering why I like to do this and, I mean. it's cool, it's cool to just hang out in the storms and experience them coming in and out and boy did we have a good one today uh-oh it came out oh boy uhoh oh it's going to be a really burnt steak and that's going to be good Wow, that started working out pretty good Well, suddenly, the peppers will be good. The grill almost didn't work forever and I can hear it, you're burning. Chef Timmy must love it. I always think it's probably ready.
I'm going to say it's done. oh yeah, the peppers are perfect, okay, success, okay, let's eat. I'm sure it's going to be amazing. oh yeah, well, it's perfect, perfect, just the way I like it, medium rare, that's perfect. I'll take it, oh yeah, I feel a little. a little deserti, let's see what we got The fire still looks pretty good, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, holy, this is wild, y'all, man, I'm just in time, pretty wild, look at the wind shaking the caravan, I thought it would be fun. Grab something a little different tonight, let's cook some cinnamon rolls.
My oven here is still strapped on because my truck has been in the shop for about a month and a half and I haven't had him fix my oven properly. bottom lashes and stuff, that's why it has a strap Bo, those are weird directions, that's scary, okay, I guess I'll eat them for breakfast too. I mean, that would make sense. Wow, that's a little sketchy, although it still pushes the chimney back. put out the fire and fill the house with smoke and then I see that probably what I'm going to do to be safe before I go to bed I'm going to put out this fire that way, I can't go out with the smoke. from here, smell them good, look at ourselves, some cinnamon rolls have a little bit of frosting right there and I'm still editing here ripping off.
I'm wondering if cinnamon rolls are like a universal baked good and can you get them in all the countries I should leave? a comment if you can, it's absolutely blasting out of the wind right now. I mean in a snow storm, these spot plow trucks out there will hopefully come hit this parking lot. It's getting pretty deep there. I might go for a walk tomorrow jumping into bed well this is wild guys I keep waking up the wind is absolutely heartbreaking it's like shaking the caravan really hard we'll see you in the morning good morning guys it's still absolutely heartbreaking outside the wind has dropped a little but it still sounds a little crazy.
I'm really curious as to whether or not we'll be able to get out of this parking lot today. I think there will be a lot of snow, we will see what happens. It's time to put away the bed and open the door and see what we have to deal with. It is all that I know. I tell you one thing. I have this new down comforter from Feathered Friends that makes amazing jackets. I have their jackets. also and I would be freezing my tail off without this, without having the diesel heater, this keeps me niceand warm once the fire goes out for the night, the mucklucks are nice and dry, I think they are about to get quite wet.
I don't have It's hot in here this morning because obviously you know the wood stove is off and the diesel heater isn't working, so I'm going to get my big jacket and let's see what we're dealing with here. First, go warm up the truck, obviously, before trying to get out of all this, talk about the devil. This is the company I'm talking about. Feathered Friends. I have some of their jackets and, uh, they're legit. Can. literallyJust throw on a t-shirt and this jacket and you're done, and they package up really amazing too, if you haven't heard of them, check them out, here we go.
Moment of truth, oh my god. I can't even open my door, oh boy, oh boy, we got a little snow, this mck looks nice and tall, it's going to be deep, so I'm glad I destroyed this door, the door threshold here couldn't Open the door, oh boy, how deep is it? this oh no oh no uh we'll see it's not deep around the truck because the snow piled up around it, it's deep here in the parking lot, though let's see if the trusty old 73 turns on, let's let these glow plugs warm up for a while minute, I don't know if I have an ice scraper with me to scrape all the ice off the windshield here we go, come on girl, oh yeah, I'm definitely going to have to block out the bushings we're definitely going to need. four wheel drive today might be the first day I'll need my ARB air lockers.
I have, I only have one of them, it's in the back, but yeah, I may have to activate that rear air ARB. Locker uh for extra traction that way both rear wheels turn and one of the front wheels turns a little bit. Worst case scenario, I'll have to get on my bike and there's a Department of Transportation, a DOT facility basically like a store and maybe I have some plows, they're the ones that plow Thomson Pass, so I'll be able to convince them to Let them come and plow this a little so they can get a score.
I have my ice scraper behind the seat. Luckily I'm going to do it. Back up into this deep snow here and see if we can't get out. Oh, it's pretty deep. My shaft is already dragging down. You can see that the third member is already crawling. There are literally 37 with tires. These are huge tires. and it's already half as deep as them, so we'll see how we get them there, well guys, unfortunately, I mean, we're stuck, this snow is very dense and very deep and we're focused on high and everything that stinks . Even with the ARB air lockers, I can't get out of here, it's too dense, look at my axle.
Dragon, right there too, we're buried and trapped, so I'm going to get out the shovel and start digging. I guess it's a shame there's nothing we can crawl to. I could just get us out of here, but there's nothing. Let's get to the point. I haven't had my morning coffee yet. I wanted to get out of this before it snowed. anymore and in hindsight, I probably should have left here last night. I probably wasn't smart, but like I said, life isn't just about being rational all the time. I think my plan is to just get some Runway going, at least there's definitely 2. and 1/2 foot of snow oh oh apparently I need front lockers too, that's pretty bad.
I mean, I just shoveled all four tires out the best they're going to get. I mean, it's sitting on the ground, so I don't know, I'm going to go turn on the air locker. I wish I had a front locker, maybe I could get out, but this thing has gotten so high I would have left last night, but I knew it was going to be like that. it's 37 on tires, they're almost buried in the snow, it's also very dense, that's what's causing the problems on the roads right there, although if I could get there I'd start digging again, oh well, oh this is crazy, thank you, damn, save me. bacon, we're free, woohoo, oh my god that's crazy, look at all this snow, like it's crazy, that's awesome, big shout out to the Alaska Department of Transportation, those guys are awesome anyway, they're the only one which is why we can drive up here in the winter, literally, you know, and people hit them all the time like, oh, they didn't plow the street fast enough, they didn't do this fast enough, but you know they're doing the What can they do, this thing is a beast, I'm sure.
My brakes are full of snow. Now I'm ready for coffee. I had a feeling when I opened that door this morning. I just had the feeling that everything is fine. Although you know that his experiences like this are the ones you remember. You know what they do. You feel alive, it's okay. Roll. Okay, we're out of here. Take it off all four wheels. I tell you what, man, without that ARB air locker, I wouldn't have been able to get out of what I just did. That one thing definitely made a difference, well I guess that's it.
I'm going to go grab some coffee and start a new day anyway. I hope you enjoyed this video and if you did, be sure to hit the like button.
