This Game is A Great Big Chicken Waiting To Get Plucked

Apr 05, 2024
thanks to the overwhelming success of the three Grand Theft Auto

game

s on PlayStation 2. Developers were eager to cash in and create their own open shooter

game

s, some more successful than others and what better property to adapt into a video. game than the film Scarface, although it is technically a remake of a film of the same name released in 1932 which in turn was adapted from a book published in 1930 by Armitage Trail whose story was based on the real life of Scarface Al Capone during his rise to power. During the prohibition era, Scarface that most of us are familiar with was released in 1983 and starred Al Pacino as Antonio Tony Montana, who arrived in Miami during a mass exodus of Cubans in the '80s, like many immigrants that Tony pursues after the American dream that arises from a humble level. dishwasher to Miami's ruthless drug lord before his arrogance and paranoia alienate those closest to him and piss off the wrong people leaving him completely alone as his empire crumbles around him, killed by his own arrogance and a gunshot. shotgun in the back, but what if what?

If he didn't have to end up that way, what if Tony had a second chance to right his wrongs and rebuild himself? Well, that's the premise of "Scarface the World is Yours" from 2006. Fun fact when I first saw

this

movie. He was probably about seven or eight years old. I was watching it in Spanish on television with my parents. This time there are no excuses. It was definitely bad parenting. I didn't remember most of the movie, just the end where Tony is killed by the skull, you know? guy with the shotgun and then he goes into the fountain and the credits roll while I wasn't traumatized by the movie, my brain always assumed that Tony was a good guy and that the movie was supposed to be sad because the bad guys killed him, it was.

More Interesting Facts About,

this game is a great big chicken waiting to get plucked...

Until I was a little older, probably when I started playing GTA,

this

time I watched the whole movie in English and understood the plot and that Tony was, in fact, the bad guy the whole time, so say good night to the bad guy, come on. So, with how much I loved Vice City and San Andreas and with GTA 4 on the horizon, I was very excited for a Scarface game, but despite having played it as a kid, I don't have any real memories related to the game, so done, all I have. I really remember my younger brother playing it and how he ended up frustrated and never finished it, so I come into this game with a blank slate.

Does he maintain the legendary status of GTA games or is he dead in the water? like Tony at the end of the movie, let's find out as a heads up, most of the footage and video will focus on the PC version of Scarface, the world is yours. The PC version is where I have to say it was notorious for how difficult it was. To start working on current hardware with tons of graphical and technical issues, it was almost impossible to play, but thanks to the modern silent that I mentioned earlier in my bully video, a patch was released that makes the game work not only that, but also thanks to the remastering of Scarface.

A project run by the neonics modding team, the game has been improved with better graphics, higher quality textures, updated models for characters like Tony and some NPCs, and better models for weapons with higher quality sounds to match normally. I avoid mods for the games I cover unless it's to make them run smoothly like I did for Bully and GTA 4. But the game looks so good thanks to the remastered project that I couldn't resist setting everything up to play it on PC. I'll include links in the description on where to get the mod and how to install it, I can't link where you can find a copy of the game even if you can't buy it digitally anymore, but I'm sure you're smart enough to find a place to download old games.
To get a copy of my own, I also recorded a few hours of footage of the PS2 version, mainly to confirm a few things about the buggy controls and to give you a better idea of what the graphics were really like. During the final shootout of the film, it allows you to take control of Tony as he fights Sosa's assassins and gives you the satisfying feeling of skull-killing for killing Tony in the film by fighting your way out. Tony escapes when the Miami police show up and finishes him off. Sosa's men escape into the jungle. He promises to right his wrongs, rebuild his Empire and kill Sosa.
After three months, he kicks his Coca-Cola addiction and returns to Miami to begin his climb to the top again. Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better premise for a game, what Scarface fans haven't wished for Tony to survive, possibly moving on to Star and more sequels, you also couldn't ask for a better start to a game instead of a slow start with some missions that make it easier for you to play the game and its mechanics like In most of the GTA games here, you dive right into the action fighting for your life against an army of hitmen, although the game offers you an optional combat tutorial to learn the controls and even ties it into the narrative, making the tutorial work like a flashback.
Tony's military training in combat in Cuba is similar but much better and developed compared to the GTA trilogy from the beginning, the lock on is perfect, it is smooth and fast, it allows me to switch between objectives quite easily and I never felt that it would get stuck when blocking randomly. Once enemies are locked on you can choose different body parts to target, this makes things like headshots a little easier and also allows you to dismember thugs if you hit them with a hard enough weapon. , also depending on the body parts you end up hitting, you will win. a different number of balls, oddly enough, works as an energy meter for Tony.
His ball meter is a white ring around his health that slowly fills as Tony kills his enemies and can increase it further by taunting them as well once he is full. You can activate a rage mode that will change the perspective to first person temporarily, making Tony invincible, giving you infinite ammo, shooting most enemies, and restoring his health. Also, the higher your balls get, the bigger your balls get, the more points you accumulate throughout the game. Unlock women for Tony to meet, which the games refer to as femme fatales but are more like girlfriend forums, look for them on the map and talk to them and they will give you a stat boost to your health, stamina or balls , then you can find them hanging.
In Tony's mansion, standing there looking very pretty, returning to combat, it makes use of some cover mechanics that allow Tony to shoot from behind a wall and also crouch, but for the life of me, I hardly ever used it throughout the entire game. , since you can usually survive a decent amount of time. There is a lot of shooting when entering fights and most missions don't give many opportunities to use cover. I'd say the only time it's really necessary, assuming you have any, is for reloading, since Tony pretty much stops moving when we're charging. a weapon that makes you an easy target, running close to someone will allow you to perform a special execution, shoot them and get some extra balls in general, the combat is solid, the way the weapons handle and shoot is much better than the GTA trilogy and outside of a few encounters, fights never feel unfair with health points distributed generously throughout missions, in case you run into trouble even shooting while driving is better as you can use almost any weapon while driving and, instead of just spraying a car you're driving next to you.
You can lock onto a target as if you were on foot, although it's harder to be precise since your own car will be moving. Now the open world of Miami is not as big as the San Andrés map, but it has many places to visit. Split it. In four areas, Little Havana, downtown South Beach, and North Beach, along with a set of islands south of Miami, the full map is accessible from the beginning, although there are no quests or things to do in later areas until let the story move forward now. The story doesn't work in the same way as in GTA, where you do missions for one person before moving on to another or have multiple missions unlocked at the same time, but is directly tied to Tony's reputation and the amount of territory he controls. of a given area is essentially a mix of the asset missions of Vice City and the Gang Warfare mechanics of San Andreas.
After Tony returns to Miami, he is left with nothing, all of his assets, money, drugs, and his mansion confiscated by the Miami police or destroyed by Sosa. thugs during the initial attack, so he will need to rebuild his empire by making drug connections, selling said drugs, and using the money he earns to buy property. The game introduces this flow during the first mission where Tony reconnects with an old contact that Felix Felix will fill. Tony tells what happened while he was away and how his rivals took control of the drug trade to help him get started.
Félix will give you 200 grams of coke and he will direct it to a local dealer. Coco for information on who to sell to. Tony can then negotiate. to two local buyers using a short button to try to sell the drugs for maximum profit after earning enough to buy his mansion back from Vice. You know, relax now. Whenever Tony has drugs, he can approach local buyers to sell them to them. Represented by white dots on the map, it's a simple if slightly repetitive mechanic, as the button message stays exactly the same throughout the game. Now the code can be difficult to get, as local gangs drop only a few grams when you kill them.
This is where Felix comes in, as you can lead missions that will give you a larger supply of drugs. Now, what to do with all that money you're earning? Well, first you'll want to wash it since the money you have disappears. You get arrested by the police or killed after scamming one of your rivals Gaspar Gómez Tony reconnects with Jerry's old banker to help him launder his dirty money. You can visit any bank branch in Miami and walk in to deposit your ill-gotten gains. Using the same button-pressing mechanics of drug deals, your success rate determines how much of a cut the bank gets and also does double duty to allow you to save your game with your cash now clean and safe.
You have several ways to spend it first. You can use the money to clean up your mansion, change its style, and buy tons of furniture, including the ashes of Tony's sister Gina, who makes a cameo in the opening as a corpse murdered by one of Sosa's men when she showed up. to try to kill. Tony or buy Manny's ashes. Manny is Tony's friend who rose through the ranks with him before Tony killed him thanks to his paranoia about cocaine and marrying his sister, which is why Gina was trying to kill him in the first place. Next, you can invest in Exotics, not furniture exactly, but flashy and expensive things to flex your wealth and increase your reputation.
You can then buy a bunch of vehicles with different cars and ships unlocked as your reputation level increases. Now you're not going to go look for those cars yourself. right, you're Tony Montana. Instead, use that money to hire a driver you can call to drop off your vehicle and pretty much negate any need to steal cars like in GTA, unless the police or other gangs destroy your vehicle and you don't. . You won't have enough time to call the guy. In the end, you won't even have to drive yourself and you can call your driver to travel quickly around the map.
Instead, you'll also use your cash to purchase weapons and upgrades to slowly unlock them. weapons as your reputation increases, first purchasing them from NPCs on the map before paying an arms dealer over the phone, where you can access those new weapons from your weapons locker and your mansion or from the trunk of your car and Finally, what you will get. I really need your money to buy businesses in Miami, simply dealing with randos on the street will not be enough if you are looking to grow and get back on top again, instead you will want to buy legitimate businesses to act as the fronts for your growing business fronts.
Drug deals are unlocked as your reputation increases, you first have to talk to the owner and resolve any issues before you are willing to sell. After purchasing, you will get a reputation boost by gaining a percentage of control of the local area's territory and you can now sell drugs on your fronts. Taking control of each territory and increasing your reputation level will unlock the next story mission and progress in the game, but you still have some obstacles in your way, mainly local gangs and police officers. Let's say the Miami gangs don't welcome Tony with their arms.Open when you begin to enter their territory, you will constantly face off against gangs working for your various rivals, each area marked with skulls representing one of the gangs entering their territory. and open fire and you can take control of a small percentage of their territory after killing a few waves of thugs.
This will also increase the pressure from your gang, which will reduce the amount you can earn by selling your product to local distributors, but will also increase the chances. The gangs will retaliate against you or any of your fronts, so you will have to talk your way out of trouble or pay to reduce your pressure or, once you have a high enough reputation, you can hire an enforcer who can come out and look after. gang for Tony on the other side of the law, we have the Miami police as they basically become corrupt, but with Vice pocketing bribes from Tony to get his mansion back, they don't like Montana shooting up in the streets and causing problems for the Miami police. your neighborhood. don't work here like they do in GTA instead a wanted level with increasing levels of police brutality raining down on you depending on how many stars you have.
You have this white meter filling up around your minimap, things like walking around with a gun. in public killing gang members or running over pedestrians, feeling them and getting their attention. I should point out that you can't actually shoot pedestrians in this game since Tony refuses to kill innocent people, fill your search meter and a red circle will surround you. the map with cops chasing you and another red meter filling up, you have to get out of the police circle before it fills up, otherwise the entire Miami Police Department appears instantly destroying your car and shooting you to pieces, it's almost impossible to escape once you You get to this point and it's more or less dealt with. like an instant game that said the cops aren't stupid, so even if you run away, you'll end up building pressure with them, this makes them more aggressive the next time they chase you, as well as having more cops on you. patrol in the city and increase the percentage cut the bank takes from your deposits, so just like the gangs, you will have to sweet talk the police to lower the temperature or pay them, or you can hire a killer, this woman nothing suspicious about a schoolgirl outfit that can kill certain targets to reduce copy, honestly this big focus on taking territory, buying property, dealing drugs and trying to keep your rivals and the police off of you.
Meek's Scarface the World is Yours is less of a GTA clone and more of a criminal. Empire management sim, which is by no means a bad thing and helps the game stand out in a notion of GTA imitators. This gameplay loop will make up the majority of your playtime and will somewhat overshadow the story. The story missions will focus on Tony trying to achieve this. get rid of his rivals, the Díaz brothers, Nacho Contreras, the aforementioned Gaspar Gómez and finally, the man who destroyed Tony's Empire, Alejandro Sosa after taking a decent amount of control of Little Havana, Tony will be ambushed while he is at the Babylon Club fighting his killers, he interrogates one. discover that they were sent by the Díaz brothers, but the most important thing is that they killed his mother, angry at the loss of his mother.
Tony visits the Diaz brothers and brings his friend, the foreign Mr. Chainsaw, which means your ass is mine. This mission sounds and looks

great

. on paper, but man, the chainsaw attacks clumsily, they still shoot at you, so it's easy to die if you don't move fast after killing the Diaz brothers. Tony will take control of his warehouse to push even more drugs to their fronts, ensuring his control of Little Havana. Some time later, Tony will be betrayed by his lawyer George Sheffield, who previously appeared near the beginning of the game and who has a partner. his that he tried to lure Tony into an ambush in Freedom Town by lying that his ex-wife Belvita has been kidnapped.
Freedom Town is the refugee camp where Tony stayed when he originally arrived in Florida. This is actually one of the more difficult missions, as you are stripped of all your weapons upon starting it and have to survive by stealing weapons from the Goons, first by beating one up. by his machete before using it to kill other weapons and eventually gutting it into an assault rifle After surviving the ambush and taking control of downtown Tony will receive a call from one of Sosa's rivals, Sandman, who invites Tony to the islands to meet him in person. and to make a deal so they can work together, Sandman also reminds me a lot of Dr.
Eggman with his design: he will ask you to help his ex-girlfriend Venus, who in turn needs Tony to help some of the locals after have more reputation. You will be able to face your next rival, Nacho Contreras, who will meet you and fight through his Casino tanker, which ends with an incredible scene where he is eaten by a shark, which can also happen to Tony if you are swimming. the ocean while bleeding too much towards the end of the game, Sandman will need help protecting his Plantation from Sosa's thugs and then freeing his drug lab on his remote island, leading to the final mission of the game that will face Sosa in his own territory in Bolivia, do you think our friends in Washington would approve of Bolivian tanks?
Miami George Washington I have them in my back pocket a few green bills spread in the right hand you make them look the other way for a day never hurt anyone Jesus Christ, you are all lawyers Montana himself has declared war on everyone in Miami and obviously He's not going to stop until he walks into this damn living room. It's long and brutal Tony fighting a huge army of thugs slowly making his way through the mansion, first killing Sheffield for his betrayal in my ass this is my law George then chasing and killing Gaspar and now you're out here driving to a face to face with Sosa about what you did I told you no and you did it Tony there There were children in the car Alex also runs away hey what kind of animals do you have working for you I want to clear something up with you Tony before I kill you when you move 400 kilos a month it is imperative that you kill children that way Heroes don't Don't get confused and continue 60 minutes, instead they crawl back to the room where they came from, hey, they saw some, maybe it's Time for you to make the call, huh, before you fill those holes, the game ends with Tony back on top sharing his heat. bathtub with Venus, the two of them together now apparently I'm sorry if the story feels a bit abbreviated, especially compared to how I tend to be more thorough like in my GTA videos, but there really isn't much to talk about about the missions of the properties you're trying to buy in addition to taking care of Turf and increasing your reputation, it's really the majority of the game.
You'll have some interesting characters popping up here and there, like this guy voiced by Bam Margera. I would love to, man, but I'm between a rock and a hard place full of those who want to destroy the business or this guy who looks like Axel from Kingdom Hearts, the name is Axel, has it memorized but they are unique characters that do not contribute to the Sandman plot and To some extent, Felix are pretty much the only exceptions. The same could be said for Tony's rivals, as only Gaspar and Sosa have any real presence throughout the game and Sosa generally calls to threaten Tony whenever you raise his reputation, but while the story itself feels a little deficient. the missions for the most part are still pretty high quality, they usually take you through large scenarios while shooting wave after wave of thugs, for example the missions you do for Sandman, the first one has you protecting his plantation by defending a area as waves of Sosa.
The men try to fight their way through before teaming up with Sandman and then shooting down a helicopter which drops even more of Sosa's men or the follow up where you have to go to his drug lab and travel to an isolated island fighting your way through. the jungle. Any hostages you come across while collecting packages of the Sandman's drugs and then escaping the island with a helicopter on your back and you won't always be alone either as you'll occasionally get reinforcements while trying to take over some warehouses. They don't survive for long, but it's nice to have them there and of course the aforementioned final mission, raiding Sosa's mansion, if only for the catharsis of killing that bastard, if I had to make some criticisms of the game besides the obvious ones like the repetitiveness of having to take over territory or having to constantly grind on your reputation before unlocking the next story mission will probably be about Tony himself his voice is polarizing to say the least I always wanted to block my own driving, You know, this is America.
I can sit in my car and watch Bogart on the big screen. I understood how much Pacino apparently chose the voice actor for Tony in the game. A guy named Andre Suglioso and it's not like his voice acting is bad. he sounds like Tony even if it's obvious he's not Pacino. I think the problem is less his voice and more his dialogue. Tony's lines are just stupid, show me some balls right now, how can we make this work again okay, why do you have to talk? to me like that uh like if you had a baseball bat up your butt or something you would know what it feels like like guano you're 50. you have a bag for a belly you have tits you need a bra they have hair they have a liver, you have spots on them like no was something a real human being would say and even more so, what a writer who has even a passing knowledge of the movie Scarface would assume Tony Montana talks like he only really knows his lines from the trailers and stuff, Tony. he has one line for almost everything, he honestly feels less like Tony Montana and more like a GTA protagonist.
I think that's mainly why so many people have problems with his voice if he spoke normally or if he had the opportunity to express more emotions instead of just acting arrogant and angry, his voice would probably have been easier to swallow, that could be more of a me thing, as there's a big difference in tone between the movie and the game that's a little hard for me to shake, especially since I'm watching. I look at it from a more critical point of view compared to my teenage self who just wanted to shoot and blow things up.
I'm also a little mixed on the game's music, although it has pretty much the entire Scarface OST, it also has a lot of it. of songs that don't fit the game or the time period in which it takes place. I'm also not a big fan of how the music on the radio keeps playing after you leave the car and now you have to turn it off yourself every time you go to the islands. It's also quite complicated since you are constantly under attack by the cartel and pirates, which makes it tedious to travel and perform certain missions.
Also, the game reviews feels like a more polished GTA game in some ways, like I said before, the shooting is easy. Better than all three PS2 games, having Tony manage almost everything from his phone is a very nice quality of life feature, from sorting your car's weapons, fast traveling, shopping for exotics, or turning down the heat. It feels good to not have to constantly run around doing busy work. Taking care of each of these things separately, although I feel that at some point an option should have been unlocked for Tony's goons to go collect the money he earned from their fronts instead of him having to do it himself, could have reduced some of the repetitiveness of the game, but overall I really enjoyed my time playing Scarface the World like yours like GTA.
It feels fun to start shooting with rival gangs or the police. The weapons and especially the rage mode make you feel like one. Unstoppable, the PS2 version's graphics hold up surprisingly well, especially the NPCs who look much better than any you've seen in San Andreas. Tony is the shining example with good attention to detail. I think he lays a good foundation for who he is. It wanted to be and enough to differentiate itself from being just another GTA clone. It's a shame it never had its sequel planned. Apparently he would have had Tony head to Las Vegas to take over the casinos and build a new Empire which sounds like a perfect scenario for him, maybe add some game mechanics, refine some of the property management and develop the story.
He got a PSP game released alongside the original, which is apparently a turn-based strategy RPG, it certainly looks interesting if any of you have ever played it? Let me know how you get on with the game being removed from digital stores. It's a shame more people can't experience it today. I think I could definitely use a remaster or remake, especially after playing it with the remastered mod during this video and in a modern world where there really isn't any moregood GTA alternatives, something like Scarface would be much appreciated and that's the video, thanks to the guys for watching a much shorter video than I initially expected but as most of my footage was taking over. lawn or clean up my reputation, I thought it would end up being too boring and repetitive if I went over every detail of my game thanks to the releases of Bayonetta 3 God of War Ragnarok and now Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
I'm having a hard time. time balancing games and playing for fun along with the ones I want to talk about on the channel that said I started on the next two games. I want to talk about one which, of course, is San Andreas, which if I bounce my time correctly. It should be out the week after Thanksgiving, so stay tuned. I want to cover another GTA clone next month as well and it will most likely be True Crime Streets of LA again. Thanks for watching guys, if you enjoyed the video be sure to share it. Like and comment below.
Did you play Scarface the World is Yours when you were younger? Could you consider it as good or better than GTA?
