I think 100 with London. dates, well, that's a huge number, although hey, yeah, I could do more, and when you do a tour like that, and I know comedians seem to take pride in this, when you advertise your tickets, they sell out really quickly, right? oh well yeah i know, i know peter k and lee evans their tickets sell out very very quickly, in fact yours probably sell out pretty quickly too, i don't know if you've compared them at all, but i imagine they still you're out of as fast as this, yeah, you probably need to advertise to sell out.

Uh, no, actually, I don't know, I'm here. Look, no. Here's why I was asking about the tour because I noticed you advertised

every

where and I partly thought it's not necessary to a certain extent. I thought, presumably, I did advertise. I saw some ads in magazines and stuff like that. Could you advertise in public bathrooms? No, but yes, it depends on the audience, but what are you talking about? It was like you were setting up a joke just make it ruined you're on what are you talking about? you announce

every

where you just set up quickly you announce you have to what are you talking about well, this is what I was asking because I don't think we'll do it again no, no, don't do it again, okay, how many days have you been, oh, around out of a hundred, do you have to advertise to sell out the tickets so elegantly that I was walking around? in the city in Trafalgar Square, okay, and I knew Ricky was on tour like all of us and I knew he was sold out, I think it was like eight or nine minutes during the whole tour all these times, yeah, then I saw possibly the sign larger. of a man's face I have never seen in my entire life, look at this, this is in Trafalgar Square, here in London, look at the size of that, it's gigantic, it's as big as it looks, it has to be four stories high, OK? and let's face it, it's not the kind of face you want to see at normal size, but certainly and then you look at Nelson's spine in closeup, okay, so he's bigger than that, he looks like me lying down with a big boner , but Nelson won. a war for us Nelson is a hero and he looks at your big ugly face in Trafalgar Square.

Tourists don't know what to do with it. I think the extras have done well on HBO too, but will it work?
ricky gervais has jokes for every occasion friday night with jonathan ross
Will you be able to work for an American audience? Well, I have done it. We really have to have some kind of international hour together, so I'm doing them in a couple of theaters and in the United States, yeah, no, you could have done that, you said you were going to do an international spot together, they've done it here with Like American students, it's drugs or Alzheimer's, but what about you? It's really amazing when you do a sold-out tour, we've established, we've established, I don't think I'll ever do the show again. I'll keep you there, uh, Ricky, I think you seem like a natural comedian.
ricky gervais has jokes for every occasion friday night with jonathan ross
It seems to come very naturally to you. I mean, I know you're right when you're doing a tour and by the way, how is the tour selling? It is going well? We did well and then we sold about 50,000 in the first nine minutes and then, uh, we sold out in about an hour, but even though it sold out, I put a big picture of me in um Trafalgar Square, which is a bit bad. because I haven't even won a war, we'll edit most of that out for your sake, um, uh, but you consider me a naturally funny person and I've spent some time with you and you always make me laugh and you always rock your life on TV , but was it maddening for you in the period when you weren't on TV when you went and thought okay, I can do this?
I'm as funny as a lot of the people I see on stage on TV. Have you ever been frustrated by the fact that you didn't have an outlet for that, at all, now, I wasn't sitting around thinking when am I going to be a professional comedian because, even though I was, you know. Growing up you know the most important thing was to laugh, really like when I grew up in a kind of working class family, as long as you had a job or you know you did the right thing with your family, the best thing was to laugh. important, I come from a family of people you know who made fun of and made fun of each other and um at my dad's funeral, okay, uh, we were all there and the vicar started the speech about my dad and of course, you already know. we were crying, I could hear all my nieces and you know, my sister-in-law was like everyone likes to cry, but I came prepared, I came with a package of those tissues and I handed them out and then I could hear them cry and then they laughed because I had written that all the handkerchiefs stopped whining and you snotty cow, and then they thought we were crazy, but that's a nice thing to do, you know, of course, yes, yes, of course, which was obviously genuinely, you know, a sad day, yes. well but you know it's uh you know my dad was 83 years old and you know it gets to all of us well I said naturally funny I mean you have your moments okay extras I really grew up early I didn't like it that much because after the office, well you know I really like it and now I never, I didn't think I'd say this, but I'd really like a third series, but you're not doing a thirty, it's more like the office you're leaving.
We've been out before, we're doing a um uh, a special, yeah, for you, for the special, go on, they're going on vacation to Spain, so what's up? Sorry, honestly, I fell asleep, so go on, what's your plan for the extra special? I don't know, we haven't written it yet, you should have an idea, although I'll do one of those things, you know, those people go on game shows and ask their fiancée if you'll marry me and because she's so intimidated. so as not to embarrass them in front of you, John, were you being extra? You know what I like about Johnny.
Johnny is huge. What I like about that is how interesting this interview is. They were actually chatting. You can't even get his attention. You are coming to this program. You're doing something new with Steve K

night

. What you are going to do is a drama that you will do next after this one. Well, we're right on the extra special when. And then, the next one. year um, we want to do, yeah, we want to do something a little bit more of the things that we've been excited about over the last few years. Can I stop there? Because we put up a picture of Steven Merchant and people started laughing, which isn't shown in a good light, well, to be fair, he's in character and he's making himself look weaker than he really is, but no.
I'm so sorry Stephen, I didn't mean it and you really are. I'd point out that you're making a funny face, oh. no, no, no, that's not, that's awesome, um, but would I be okay writing drama? Well, I mean, I know there were dramatic elements in the office, but is that something you? Because I can't imagine you really taking it down and staying on a dramatic course, as long as you know how to write about what you know, the drama won't be Englishmen running around with guns and you know, fighting and rewarding Vikings, yeah, it'll be an everyday story about something you find such an angle to the office, but without the laughs, well, well, there will be laughs, I mean, The Soprano is probably one of the best television shows of all time, it's very funny and classy in all the time so even though it's a drama and it's about morality and then I'll be a drama with comedy it'll be a drama you're writing a grammar yeah I'm writing a drama yeah that's kind of a camel it sounds like you say You were riding to a drummer, then people might think you're planning something special at the zoo.
I don't know what you're talking about now again. I lost it. I knew it was an almost normal conversation, but then you lost me. last time and you are in a big movie this summer, we should mention this very briefly, this is stardust and for the sake of full disclosure I should point out that I am involved in this in a very indirect way because the script of this movie it was written by my beautiful and talented wife and it stars not only ricky

gervais

but also robert de niro and michelle pfeiffer and peter working with de niro that must have been something extraordinary when there were no extras but you met him here well no, but Yeah.
Exactly yes, the call came. Do you want to spend a couple of days in a movie with Robert De Niro? Yeah, I went and met him and I think he's the best actor in the world, so I'll get there and then, um, he, you know, I try not to be intimidated, I played around with the usual and I made him laugh and it was great, but I realized I realized it was bravado because after about seven hours I came out and went, I think you're the best actor, he said, "I'm doing this, it's very quiet, I'll call you and about three days later he did.
Wow, he called me and He said hi I'm Bob and I went I thought I told you never to call me and he laughed and they laughed and we found the day you took charge and it was cool because I wasn't in the scene so we were. Him, Stephen and I, I was directing and at one point I walked up and I said to Steve, I said, oh, you could try this, he said, yeah, cheers, I came back and De Niro said, what about me then? I said, how am I, okay, oh, and I said, yeah, I went, yeah, you're doing well and the team laughed and realized, but he meant it, humble, you know, you're running this, are you? how am I now?, he is absolute, but that should be an ambition c

ross
