Hello, my name is Brent Baker from Bill Stasek Chevrolet. I've had a few requests since we posted Corvette videos on YouTube about the differences between Z51 and non-Z51, so I brought two of our Corvettes to give you. A quick summary of the details you may need to know before making your next purchase. To my left we have the Z51. It's designed primarily as a track car, but visually there are some notable differences that you can see. The first is our 19-inch front wheel and 20-inch rear wheel. Compared to non-Z51 model with 18 and 19 inch wheels. Also note that the non-Z51 tire compound is more of an all-purpose, all-season tire.

When you look at the Z51, they actually recommend not driving the vehicle below 40 degrees due to the tire's summer express compound. Now when you look at the brake rotors, we have vented rotors programmed into the Z51 package, but for the Corvette customer who enjoys keeping their car clean, keep in mind that these rotors don't go through the exact same tempering process that we do. that you have for non-Z51 rotors, you may notice some corrosion buildup when exposed to the elements, due to the fact that this rotor uses an aluminum core, it cannot go through the tempering process known as ferritic nitrocarbonization or FNC, that is. a little complicated, so Chevy decided to call it the Dura-Life Rotor System.

On our non-Z51 car, these Dura-Life rotors will actually double the life of your rotor, not only that, but they reduce brake dust, brake noise and squealing and will also better preserve life usefulness of its pads, so if you are looking for a car with greater strength and ease of use, the non-Z51 model could be the right choice for you, plus it has the additional drivability of a tire that is better suited to all the stations. Let's take a look at some things that may not be visible to the naked eye. On the Z51 in the rear we have a transmission cooler and a differential cooler, on the coupe you will have functional vents on the upper deck at the rear of the car, on the non-Z51 model we don't have those additional coolers and Also, on the coupe, those vents are not functional, but are only there for aesthetic reasons.

Under the hood we have a standard dry sump oil system, both automatic, convertible, coupe, manual and remember this dry sump oil system uses about three quarters more oil than a standard non-Z51 oil system; again, this is more track oriented. In addition to the dry sump oil system, we also have an electronic limited slip differential in the rear. There are many reasons to choose a Z51 Corvette Stingray or a non-Z51 Corvette Stingray.
