I was at Meghan & Harry’s wedding - it was MISERABLE, the worst event I’ve ever been to

May 27, 2024
Worst royal

wedding

I've

ever

been

to. I was angry and felt like we were punished for it to offend Our Queen, like she did in that book. You know, he really upset the king and you know, I don't think he can forgive him easily. and I imagine the king had strong words with him about it, which is probably why he didn't want to go and stay with him because he would probably have another chance. Hi, I'm Matt Wilkinson and welcome to our exclusive Royal show with me today. legendary son Royal to photographer Arthur Edwards MBA Arthur thanks for coming A pleasure, Matt, excellent, look first, this week we learned that Prince Harry, when the Invictus game ceremony ended, did not want to stay in a royal residence.

That was offered to him by the king because he did not feel that he had enough protection. Does that make any sense to you? We have both

been

to palaces and royal residences, they are quite safe, aren't they? Harry, how can you make that statement? It's public relations education by armed police, uh,

ever

y single one of them and uh, no, no, there are no exceptions, unless you have the right pass, no one can get in there, now you know it's been known. that people have jumped over the wall of Buckingham Palace but they were soon stopped recently there was someone who showed up with a crossbow winding up a castle but he was quickly arrested so no, I think it was a bad excuse, I think he wanted to stay in a hotel and he was determined to do that and he also travels with a small entourage of bodyguards as well, and he suspects that was the reason he did it, he had his own protection and uh and he felt it was pretty good, the stories are changing, right? are they so famous?

More Interesting Facts About,

i was at meghan harry s wedding it was miserable the worst event i ve ever been to...

You know, they released a statement saying that I wouldn't be able to see the king because the king was too busy. Now it turns out that the king actually said you can. stay in one of our palaces if you want and that means you and I can have a little time to hang out now, suddenly he says, well, I didn't want to stay there because I didn't feel safe, I mean. it doesn't add up no, it doesn't add up and this is Harry's story, although you already know this since he decided to leave the royal family and follow his own path in the United States and he's just behaving.
i was at meghan harry s wedding it was miserable the worst event i ve ever been to
I think it's sometimes terribly true that some of the things he said about members of the royal family, um, certainly, Camilla, Katherine, and her brother, I think you just don't do that with families, you know your family is the plus something important in your life and you do everything you can to keep the family together and at peace and uh and imagine that the king is a little unhappy with Harry being around people where he could learn stories and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and then he put his next book in AR or your next podcast or your next radio or television interview and it seems like you're well informed, of course, you know that the king was very upset with the last thing Harry did in the book, especially what he said. about his lovely wife Camilla, you know because I mean they are a very dear couple and you know offending Our Queen, uh like he did in that book, you know it really upset the king and you know I don't think I can forgive that easily and I I imagine the king had strong words with him about it, which is probably why he didn't want to go and stay with him because he would probably get another batch, but maybe not. just being the king who didn't want Harry to be left with a crude resolution, well, you know, I think if you mean his brother, well, you know, I think that's going to take a lot of peacemaking for that fight to end because uh William is pretty upset about that and he and he doesn't seem to care who he tells that to you know he feels like you know his brother well I'm just talking about that opera well Megan.
i was at meghan harry s wedding it was miserable the worst event i ve ever been to
Besides referring to that Opera Winfrey interview about you know the Roes are racist in a lot of ways because they questioned the color of Arch's skin. Well, I mean, you know I've talked to mixed race people and they tell me that's normal. . conversation you have when you're expecting your first child and they're back to it now too yeah but you know so he says and then he quickly said it wasn't the Duke of Edinburgh or the Queen who I said it and then you know it and more The Queen later issued a statement saying: You know our memories vary well.
I imagine you know most people will realize that it was just the queen saying look, we don't believe anything you say, you know. So, in my opinion, Harry, if he comes here, fine, he is welcome here, obviously, he is a prince of the kingdom, although he has decided to keep the title but not do any work. I don't think he has the right to occupy a Royal Palace. I think he, you know, books on uh toel anytime, but you know, you know, he's not, he's not putting look, you know, being a member of the royal family in this country is a huge job, hey, you're on the show. , you are in this. electronic fish tank all the time people look at you seeing everything you do everything you say and a lot of responsibility that comes with it and he didn't want that anymore he wanted to go I don't know why it was because he was very popular here I remember working with him, it was fantastic , he was just amazing, it was especially with the kids, he was absolutely brilliant and I traveled the world with him and I really enjoyed working with him, but you know, now I really don't.
I care if I see him again because the way he has behaved towards the king and our queen and his brother and his brother and his sister-in-law is appalling and I feel like it's about time he realized that and you know he doesn't. can come and St in the palaces, you know, was the king. I mean, the king still loves him and wants him to come back and work for the family, but not as long as he doesn't write stories about it. and uh, and I think why while that situation is still going on, I think nothing is going to change, well, what I understand is that Harry didn't want to stay in the P or this royal residence that was offered because um it was in a visible place with public entry and exit points without police protection.
Now I can tell you that he actually stayed when he was here at the Cow Park Hotel, which we know as the Cow Park Hotel, which is just a short drive from Windsor Castle. It's right on state land, it's right next to the Winds of Great Park, but it's where Harry and William stayed the night before Harry's

wedding

to Megan. I mean, it's something they know, but it's a first-star hotel, it's palatial, it's a really nice place. I know I can't afford to stay there, I think it's like 5600 a night or something, but that's where he stayed, as opposed to an actual residence.
I mean, we're not security experts. Does it make sense to you? Personally, it seems like a poor excuse, I mean, you know, the royal palaces are fortresses, everything is protected, I mean, b moral, I mean, they're just so protected and they're so proud of it, the Metropolitan Police, you know ? that's what they do um and you know from when the King goes out to borrow the Metropolitan Police go up there with him I mean you know they do long assignments there so no it's a fact that they're safe he just preferred. In my opinion, the hotel is not going anywhere because we have so much more to come in the rest of the program.
I thought to myself, you know, this is all showbiz rubbish, it was all just, the stage managed to accommodate them, me and you have been working. together for about four or five years, but you're celebrating a small anniversary this year, aren't you okay? I've turned 50 years in the pack, your golden anniversary, well, you could call it that. I like long service. I'm quite proud of that fact, actually because, you know, I've been working for Mr. Murdoch for all these years and you know he's a good employer and he's always been very fair to me and I feel like this is a great article, you know ? and and we're pretty quick with the news, we're pretty quick with the Royal news, I mean, and uh and uh, and great exclusives.
Many thanks to you, Matt. I mean, you've been doing brilliantly since you joined Royal. reporting team and um and it's been um it's been fun um but I think we're not going to be doing much in the near future with this well exactly so the election of the king um you must have seen a lot of prime ministers and stuff with the The queen came back, you know, when she was around, but Sunak called an election for the 4th of July, we finally know, but he had to go talk to the king to tell him that he was going to dissolve parliament at some point and that he was going to hold general election, this is a big moment for the king, do you think this is his first general election?
As Monik, he will have many constitutional roles, it will take up a lot of his time and attention. but you know, I mean, he, he, he said goodbye to Liz Truss, he said, he'll probably say goodbye to Mr Sunak and he'll probably welcome a new Prime Minister and all in two years, I mean, it's pretty impressive, but The thing is with a general election, you know, everything important that could overshadow, reporting on the elections is canceled and I imagine the king is very enamored of that because you know he just came back from a long illness, I mean, no. we saw it. him for months and he's really been making a big change, you know, I mean, he's working every day this week and because of the election, you know a lot of them are going to be canceled.
I hope some great

event

s happen. Go ahead, I hope you know that we will arrive in Normandy with and uh and and trooping the color, you know, the big

event

s in London. His official birthday, uh, but you know the election is important and, um, uh, it will and should replace everything that is. A great moment for the country in democracy is the most important thing: we can change the government any time we feel that they are not doing the job for us and the King will accept that you know that he knows that he knows. that's part of his duty, you know, he's the head of state, but the prime minister is elected, head of the government, and that's more important, so you know, we'll probably kick Hills out for a while, but you know, imagine when the elections are over and we're going to lose every day, but, um, he's, you know, the king, uh, he's very interested in running the country.
I imagine every day they have their weekly meeting with the Prime Minister and now they are all, it is probably private and no one knows what is said, but imagine having worked with Prince Charles and for over 40 years in what he is very interested in . I think, in my opinion, he is very socialist. You know he's very interested in. in the in the benefit, you know, helping the less fortunate and, uh, and you know a lot of these things he's done mostly unannounced, and you wouldn't have heard of him, you know, and he would make sure to convey his views to the The Prime Minister is now a stupid Prime Minister, in my opinion, he did not listen to him because he is a very wise and very visionary man.
I remember you met him talking about organic food and people called him crazy and now you can do it. I don't go to supermarkets to buy organic foods. I remember him talking about bad architecture and the architects condemned him, but look, go and look at Parton Square now, after he is beautiful, um and um, and so on, and, besides, the king is not afraid. talks, he does the research on him, uh, he, he puts the facts on him in order and he and he says it and he's not scared by the criticism and uh, he's an amazing man, but um, he'll do it like most of us. watching political party broadcasts on TV, uh, but you know, having said that, it's only for 6 weeks and that's not a lifetime, and soon it will be back to normal, well, it might really help him because he left at such a height big.
Pace after the doctors said that, you know, it was okay to return to work, but there was a sense of frustration. I believe it was not with the King earlier this year that his reign had been interrupted. While he was dealing with his cancer treatment, I think he was happy, he said the other day that he was glad to be out of his cage on a commitment. You know, he now he has to go back to the cage in a pair. of weeks, but we should still take it to Trooping uh Royal Ascot, these things where you know they would be great, but they will be like you pointed out, they will be just some of the not the most mundane ones, but some more.
That maybe veers into political areas or it could be a little vulnerable when talking about important political issues and things like that. I also think our Queen Camilla will be relieved because I was with her last week at uh at Ry in Sussex and she said uh she said do you know she asked me how I was I said good man I said do you know please the king is recovering she said what yeah she said if he just did what he was told you know then you know really she probably you know wants me to slow down a little bit um but um he's uh he's you know I saw him this week on the Chelsea flow show and he looked incredibly well, you know so he's actually eager to go, but he should Imagine that he still has to take it easy.
You know he has to pace himself. How could he tell him to pose? Stay tuned. There's a lot more to come in the rest of the show I did some really lovely Ro weddings I did both of King Charles's weddings I did Williams' wedding I did Andrew's wedding I did Sophie and Edward, you know, I mean, they were occasions lovely, but that day I couldn't, I couldn't leave Windsor long enoughquickly during these six weeks, let's say where the rules have to sadly slow down and not make as many commitments, it's probably not the right time, even if there is a right time. uh for the Princess of Wales to, you know, come back, she's still at home, there's been many more.
The usual suspects have been going online and making up nonsense, I can tell she's home, she's still recovering, she's still obeying the doctor's instructions. orders, but there is absolutely no need to rush her back, especially since everything will be focused on the elections right now. I think I think she'll be back when the doctors say so and probably in six weeks. It would be a relief for her to know that she is not under pressure. We heard from people who have been working with her this week because a year ago she created this Early Childhood Center and created a task force to help. to look for ways to engage companies to actually help and use science to help children ages zero to five, there was an information session this week because they announced the first set of it.
The report was a 60 page report which said that if they implemented these proposals they could put £45 billion back into the government's coffers, but we were told that not only did the Princess of Wales read the report, she was the driving force behind it . and she was excited by all the proposals that come out considering that we know that you know that she is not well and is recovering, this is the Princess of Wales that you know, you know that she continues to work behind the scenes and get involved in it . In her big projects, this is what we should expect from her.
Imagine like the King when she was receiving treatment, she was still working on her boxes and stuff. I imagine she is doing the same. I imagine she has her staff, you know, planning things. events and also projects that she's very involved in, so imagine that even though we don't see her, she's not making public appearances, imagine that she's still pretty busy doing that and, yeah, and I think, from my point of view, it's an incredible woman. uh, she's not only a mother and raising three beautiful children, she's a great member of the RO family, she's a hardworking member of the RO family, she's a great photographer.
I have to say I have to say I have to get better and better at her pictures and she shares them with all of us and uh and she's um and she's just a big star in the RO family. I mean, it's no secret that she's the biggest star ever and uh and you know, she obviously she's recovering and she will when the doctor tells you. they can come back and go out and interact with the public again. I mean, the thing is, they can't interact with the public because of the infection. You know, that's the problem, so it's not that she didn't want to do it, it's just that she was ordered not to. and um and then look, you know the king, we had to wait patiently for the king and we made his return and he went back to work normally and let's see it won't be long before I think we'll see Katherine again, but you know this six weeks break now will be good for her.
I think it was a shame that they are short staffed right now. Although I saw Beatric and everyone, yes, this week at a garden party supporting William, which I thought was quite nice. actually I mean, they're lovely, lovely girls, I've known them since they were little girls, since they were coming out of the hospital and into the arms of their mothers, they're just super little girls and that was a huge support and then I saw Zara Phillips. There too, you know, so remember that some of these younger members might participate, for example, in the garden party.
I mean, William took care of that. I think the King was supposed to be there and he had to cancel it for some reason. and the girls came and and and you know and and we don't think they are important, but they are, I mean, they are grandsons, granddaughters of the late Queen and they are and they are nieces of the king and and they have a role to play, you know, maybe not in the first line, maybe you don't know it, but you know, supporting family members, like garden parties, you know, and and they'll be at ASA, uh, I'm sure they're fixing their dresses right now, but they'll be there for that and you know, they're kind, they're very hardworking and very loving girls, I mean you, I mean, she's an amazing lady, I mean, she.
I can't say that she did me and I a personal favor once with the help that she gave me, I mean, she's a lovely person, so that was interesting and, of course, William, I mean, William just has been accepted in enormous numbers. You know, he is, you know, without Catherine, but he is as usual, he will probably feel a little relieved because now he has had a little break, so let's say that William invited the other members of the Roy family, so we invited Berric Eugene M. Conara Tindle and Peter Phillips. Well, to the garden party and as you said there, it's very nice to remember them again.
You know what I mean? They are also family, they are their cousins, you know, they are all their cousins, they are all cousins. We're all family and you do it and I think it's a lovely thing. I think it's a really nice thing. Do we need to see more of them? Arthur. I'd like to see more of Rich than usual. Yes, I work royally. or uh, I, I, I don't know, I mean, I can imagine the king thinking about it a little bit because you know they're really shorthanded right now. I mean, if you think this is just, it's really just William and Katherine and the king. and the queen and um, okay, and we know that Princess An is working tirelessly and we know that Edward and Sophia are hard workers, but you know they do really good things with Charities Eugene, but they also have families and jobs.
They never really took on this kind of work, they don't have a real role, no they haven't, but they are involved in things, I mean, you know, I mean, they really are involved in charities and they do and they have done all his life. You know that their mother and father had taught them that you know that's their You know that they were born with great privilege and that with that privilege comes Duty and they and they realize that, but for some reason I think maybe because You know Prince Andrew is not the most popular person in the world right now maybe people think like that, you know, but I don't know.
I feel like there's uh, I was just great. C. them, that. G. I know it was pouring rain, but when I saw those pictures, I thought well done, you know that well, William, because all your cousins there and I see them at Sandringham at Christmas, when the whole family gets together and they are really, You know, they're really good friends, so yeah. I hope it happens anyway, well I think if it doesn't happen with the King it certainly will happen with William yeah or maybe I'm being naughty here but Eugin was always good friends with Harry and Megan maybe introduced them depending on what story you create. she's been to California a couple of times and then she showed up at the garden party and I think she Instagrammed oh it was great to be here supporting the royal family.
I'm probably being a little naughty here. but you are Eugene as a trusted royal family member of the company that William can use as support. I still think she is a kind person, very kind. I know him well, but I have worked with her. very much I think she is a tremendously kind person and um uh and I must say that she uh she is very close to Harry. I remember yeah, she was very close to Harry and imagine um. I think it's good that you know that people are like that. I think it's charming. that you know they can keep in touch with Harry, you know, I mean, I mean, Harry's not Harry just got a little lost in my opinion, you know, I think he's, he's the prodigal son in my opinion and he just had to do it. .
I have to think about what he's doing and think about the damage he's done and you know everyone is capable of forgiveness and I'm sure, but you know I think look, Harry is just the prodigal son, but you know the prodigal son came back. to the fold and let's hope that happens one day. I hope it happens, but right now I mean, have you been married seven years? It was the seventh anniversary. Yes, so, seven years and this week it was. its seventh do you remember you have to remember where you were in the you were there in Windsor oh I was there I hated the day the day was a

miserable

day I mean, it was a I really thought well, it was fine, I can tell you now uh It was the

worst

royal engagement which I did at a royal wedding because Harry was determined to keep the newspapers away as much as possible.
Everything was done with long lenses. I mean, Kai told you that you had an 800mm lens to photograph the guests. Arriving and the photographers they hired for the job, they were 5T away, you know, it was useless and then the carriage shot when they passed me in the carriage, they looked the other way, so for me it was a disaster. and um it was so deliberate that they made you feel bad I felt so I felt like it wasn't just me but the whole British press you know they were uh in many ways um badly treated I think it was um har he I was really angry with it because some of the things that were said about Megan, and rightfully so, some of the things that were said about Megan during the engagement were pretty harsh.
I want to mention them now, but some of them were pretty unfair too, uh, so he was angry and um, and I felt like you know we were punished for that and, in fact, I never published a photo in the newspaper that day and uh, when I think you know I made some I made some really lovely Ro WS. I did both of Char King Charles' French weddings. I did Williams' wedding. I did Andrew's wedding. I made Sophie and Edward. You know, I mean, they were lovely occasions, but I couldn't today. I couldn't get out of Windsor fast enough.
I promise you the

worst

Rawal wedding to cover, yeah, and then when the baby was born, when Archie was born, that was another disaster in my opinion, because I knew we weren't going to take a photo. Everyone expected us to get pictures of it, I mean obviously when William was born and Harry was born and George, Charlotte and Louie we got great pictures outside the hospital. I remember it, and William and Katherine especially made a great effort to show it. the whole world is his new baby, but I mean, I say this, but uh, I mean, we, Harry's baby, Archie was almost teething before he found out he was born, you know, I mean, it was uh uh, we were led to believe that she.
She went into labor at 2:00 when the baby had been born many hours before, we were led to believe that it was going to be a home birth and it was in a hospital. and in fact, I never stayed in Windor, so there was a royal tour to Germany with the king and queen and I went with them and I couldn't get away from Windor fast enough and I remember showing Camilla in, I think, Munich. uh the first photos of Archie that were taken by the press associate I showed her on my phone and that was the first time she saw him, you know, so it was a tough time, though I have to say.
You know that first year Megan worked with her on the road. I mean, you know we went all over the country. I mean, she was amazing. I mean, I thought she was um and she was saying this. You know, I thought she was a great asset. to the family and I kept asking the Palace if we could have a meeting with her, you know, the royal people, the people who cover the Royals, could have a meeting with Megan like we did with Katherine, and you know, introduce ourselves and let let us do it. her to find out who was writing about her and photographing her and they assured me that it was going to happen, but it never happened and um uh and then very soon, like you know, she had decided that they were going to go and that was but, um, if you have the feeling that they did it, if you're talking about the wedding, everyone felt uncomfortable, not everyone, just the British, just people who travel, travel all over the world, SP, their whole life, my whole life, you know , and then the Opera.
Winfrey had met them once, she was a guest, the fool, you know, the guests, I mean, I had never met them before, but they were the guests and, you know, I thought to myself, you know, this is all garbage from the Showbiz, you know, then you have an idea. that they wanted that they wanted a life in California that they wanted to show that they weren't interested if they weren't interested in making people feel welcome at the wedding it just seems to me that they just made a decision seven years ago Years ago, look, I'm looking at, I mean, Opera Winfrey was there and then the first big interview they did was with Opa Winfrey and you know, most of that interview was left on the floor of The Cutting Room because it was a thing like that. -Side and it was so unfair and I think about seeing him now and you know how busy he is with Archie and him and the color of his skin I was I was I knew that they would be I know that they would be sowing I I knew that the queen would be the seed, I knew that the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, would be the seed, it would be very unfair because one thing they are not racists, you know, right?
I have been with I have been with a king throughout Africa throughout South America. I've been. I've never seen them just interacting and enjoying the company of these people, so you know, it wouldn't be possible for him. It would be like this, he's just a uh and it was kind of unfair to say and it was,you know, I mean, she put it like an actress put it and an opera responded by saying, wow, you know, just like uh. and you know it was horrible and, um, and then of course some of the Netflix stuff and the book, oh god, you know it was horrible, but, to confirm, artha, you didn't do anything to celebrate Harry's seventh birthday and Megan. wedding anniversary no, I'm not even surprised it lasted so long no, a lot of people said no.
I mean, you obviously know that they're probably happy together, they had two lovely children and it's one of the saddest things ever. Of course, the kids don't get to see their grandpa or their grandpa, you know, and that's really so horrible because they don't get to meet their cousins and and and meet their cousins and and and It's a shame for them there. There are happier times this week. Parties at the Palace Garden. Chelsea Flower Show. Can you give us an idea? You've done a lot of them. We are talking about 50 years. Your golden anniversary. Much of this may simply give you an idea of what it is like and many people have not attended a palace garden party.
I mean, you know the highlight on the calendar for a lot of people if you get a ticket and go there, what is it like at a garden party or a Chelsea flower show when you're with the king, queen, prince and princess? from Wales? Etc. Well, I've been to several garden parties with my wife and them. They are amazing, I mean first of all they are all beautifully dressed, I mean women have to spend millions of pounds on clothes and they look beautiful and then of course the Royals come out and then there is a huge line up and people think that The alignment is exclusive. but it's not, if you're me, if you've been invited, you can join that lineup and meet the king and the queen, the king or the queen, one does each side, uh, but the food is delicious, there's a lot of is that tea is absolutely I want to say that tea is my favorite drink is absolutely I can testify that that tea is yours it is and it is and it is really and you can walk around the gardens and the lake and it's a very beautiful afternoon and and you see so many people that you know or they know you and it's really and the two hours go by in an instant, you know, it's so good, so fast, but it's really lovely and um uh, I've been to The Chelsea Flower Show every year for the last 30 years it must be and, um, every year, where the queen used to go, the queen was the patron of the RO Royal Horticultural Society and the most important thing is the root that she puts down. the gardens, everyone desperately wants the queen to come through the garden and we had a very very famous gardener called p c to se Brook, unfortunately he is no longer with us but I said one year he asked me to come and take some photographs of him . and I said, are the Royals passing by your position?
We had a wonderful stall there, it was called Sunflower Street, he said, oh, they never come here, they never come to the sun, and I said, oh, why did he say, oh no, they just don't do it? I was there and I saw Prince Charles walking about two rows back, so I walked up and said to Prince Charles, could you come look at our garden please? And he said he was fine and walked over and Peter went right into heat mode with him. and he started telling the king what they were doing and it was fascinating, it was called Sunflow Street and there was a bridge at the top and I think he won a gold medal that year for that Peter and um and we the next day published a great page of photographs of the king with Peter, the following year we had the Queen, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, the emperor, the Crown Prince of Japan and Chelsea Clinton all came to Peter's booth and uh and so it became. normal and in fact the last time the queen came just before she died the year before she died and she came to Peter's stall and Peter had this special bouquet made of flowers that he had grown in his own garden and I remember receiving the queen smelling the flowers and she came in a little carriage, you know, kind of a little cart, her legs weren't very good at walking, so that's how it went, but this year I went and the king and queen were there and of course, they go for separate routes, one of the nicest photos I took on the route was when when they pass each other, they go their separate ways, they were laughing at each other and they got to know each other, so you know, it's been a busy week.
I mean there have been garden parties, there has been a flower show and now there has been a six week break, well exactly listen, I think we have covered everything during the week. I say we have six or seven weeks, but we will still cover each and every real job. that happens in all types of Raw Story absolutely yes, of course, thank you, thank you for coming. I had a great time. It's a pleasure to work with you. I hope we see each other in Normandy for the celebration D. God, yes. Thank you very much, thank you very much for watching.
