What would have made it much more beautiful if that wind was a little from the north or a little from the south? The wind hit us. right in your face all day and if you can imagine trying to hit a teal flying 60 or 70 miles an hour away from you it's a lot harder than it looks, everyone ahead, now you have that trap mark, it wasn't good, it's hard to shoot them when they move away from you the first time you've been hunting no just wait I thought that sounds like crickets thanks we should all move to that damn spot I mean you can't shoot them like that it's almost impossible for the teal go holy foreigner, you know, the other groups of hunters were shooting like crazy because we went right in the middle of the ducks and, uh, all hell breaks loose, try to move the decoys, try to move the Mojo and there's only green lights bluish everywhere.
I'm worried about the dog breaking but she held steady on that one that was in the water right in front, there was quite a bit of confusion as you can see we had a guy there who never ducked and hunted for his life, he probably had no idea what do. think, uh, go ahead, go ahead, foreigner, close, Eric, you just need to get a little closer like this, yeah, 15 yards, yeah, they're dead, everyone was having so much fun, it was the

I have no idea what just happened now, oh man, dude, now you understand why I didn't want to shoot to the end because I know you guys, yeah, yeah, and they weren't, they were right, they weren't, they weren't around. As close as we thought it was to a good patch, it was 80. I mean, they were probably coming for the Mojo, but you had been a shooter, they were, yeah, and they had to be right because I'd shoot myself, oh man, what's up . We had a disaster this morning. I had 10,000 teal here and anyway I turned on the lighting and the flying around was wild so Brad, just on the opposite side of the blind, was outside with the dog, there was a bit of chaos there for a second, he became chaotic. and uh Brad couldn't hear me and I couldn't see him.
I couldn't see Taylor right here, yeah, from the end of the decoys to that grass, I couldn't see him, so if they were lighting right here, yeah, I could. I don't see them, yes it was fast, as you can see, we have a terrible wind, it's supposed to be straight northwest, but it was an incredible hunt, we clearly didn't shoot well, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a teal like that. thick so we're done it's not even eight o'clock we're still going to let them come back here tonight it's going to get to 17 degrees so all these ducks have been sitting here so we're going to let them come back here and hopefully you have a good one tomorrow so stay with us first time yeah you made it pretty boiled uh so everyone knows I have a sweet spot for teal.
I love shooting teals. I love to hunt. I love teals. I love looking up to work. It's just something different and the night before this day we had some clients that had to leave a day early, so I invited my friend Joe Weimer from the North, pure Yankee, he doesn't model here, man, and he brought his friend Greg with him, so the night before. We're having dinner and you know Greg is like a man, I don't want to shoot anybody, I say, well, I'll go. I'm just telling you that the helm is going to be super thick in the morning because he was heating up drastically. you know, 20 degrees from the day before 25 degrees and that morning we get there and it's completely thawed, the hell hole will always be the thickest ice on the farm, it's just a narrow wooden hole, it never ripples, it's just about Knee deep, but for the last few mornings with me or Eric or whoever, one of the guides has been running around early in the morning trying to get him out with a boat just to keep him thawed out because we knew we'd be hunting this blind.
At some point that week, when the big thaw came and daylight, we were just in hell and there were teal everywhere. Randy sure thinks of a lot of them until they get back, there's no way to wait a minute, man I'm so mad I did it. Not getting the call, I chose Jacks and went there a lot, folks, what the fans came to see. Go ahead, lol, you'd go from here and get ready to stick your guns out the window in less than a second. That's how fast they are. things were coming in, yeah, right in front of you there's a live board, it's pretty close left left I didn't throw either one the way one comes laughs, come on, come on, charge, take cover, Bob, wow, I don't think he killed any.
Oh my gosh, here they come, reload, load, cloak, buddy, can they move it home? Yeah, that'll make it easier to reload, go, get in. I mean, hey, we're pretty close. I told you it would be fun to be here if you even I walked in here cool, oh man, we're going to shoot until tomorrow, it'll be Charlie's heel call, well you guys get to see me shoot mine. that's number nine of the year, uh, that's good, it's almost eight days away, the ice is three inches thick everywhere, but here in blind six and pretty much anywhere a human didn't keep it open it froze, so we expect something pretty wild.
Things that will happen, the pintails are starting to get very thick, they killed a black duck, there are no more mallards, two fitting a black duck and 20 teals so far, so it became very fast, very fast, it became very very quick, no good, remember, man, he left it. Get out, that was great, yeah, that was great, kill that, you laugh, it took us about an hour to reach our limit and there were eight or nine of us and wow, the teal was very strong, but Greg changed his tone very quickly . uh, old Yankee Doodle, let me tell you, his gun would come up and make noise every time that tail came in too, so it happened.
I think the first 20 minutes we were 30 something teal and then we decided it was time to I took a little break and had breakfast and anyway we made it quick and then on the way back to the hostel the ducks were raining while we were picking up decoys, the sun came out, of course, and you look up and there's just mallards everywhere, um thousands. and thousands of ducks coming from the south we came back to the lodge and they were just filling it up, just ducks everywhere, anyway, it was quick work, the amount of till we saw and filmed that morning was pretty incredible.
I love photographing them, I'm glad my Yankee friends could come down. Usually it's just a snow goose hunt or two, but yeah, it was a fun day and you could see why so many times our stringers are full of teal, because most of the time. It's just that we are not going to wait in an Allard Zone if the next helm comes in, goes out, rests, you always have clients the next day, so you have to think about more than just the guys you have with you. On that particular hunt and the line started getting closer and we started shooting them and it sure was a blast.
