4 DOLLAR TREE DIYS | VALENTINE’S DAY BUFFALO CHECK FARMHOUSE DECOR | LITTLE RED TRUCK CRUSH

Feb 27, 2020
Hello everyone, welcome back to White Sparrow Living Luke 12 6. I'm Wendy, today we're going to DIY a four

dollar

tree

Valentine's Day and we're going to make one in a neutral color and three in pinks and reds, so to begin. For our first project, I bought two of these plastic vases and a

buffalo

plaid baby blanket. In the baby section, two of these sweet

little

pink birds and you can see that one of them has had its feathers removed. Two of the white candles she already had. These are from a while ago from Dollar Tree and I noticed that nowadays their inventory of these candles is much smaller so I'm hoping you can find some larger ones and then I bought two of these candle holder plates these are from glass and then some leftover lamb's ear greenery.

I usually buy mine at Walmart for two

dollar

s a pack and then I have some Waverly white chalk paint and some pink chalk paint but I didn't use the pink and then my glue gun, scissors, wire cutters and stems from Chanel, as well as some e6000. which is what we will use to attach the trays to the vases so first I start by removing the stickers on the bottom and they come off very easily because they are plastic so they don't break or anything as long as you do it slowly and then I will be using my white Waverly chalk paint to paint the entire surface of both vases and also the candle plates, so while the paint was drying I decided I wanted to give these

little

birds an operation.

More Interesting Facts About,

Anyway, I removed the feathers or wings from the other bird and I'm going to place them on a paper towel so I can paint them and I decided that instead of doing the pink ones I would do a grayish color, so I just added a little bit of my paint black to my white paint to make a nice gray and I just painted over it all and it has these little beads on top so I painted over them too and just put my brush on it to cover. all the way and then I also painted the birds tail and then I went back with my Waverly white chalk paint and just made some little strokes to mimic what the feathers would look like on the tail and wings so I wanted to make two little bows to the chandeliers, first I got a ruler and then I cup cut some strips from a single row of

buffalo

plaid and then I just folded it over and didn't join it or anything, I just went around and made three loops in each one, this is actually going to be a little too big, I'll find out later, so I made a smaller one so that the smallest one only has three loops, but instead of showing you again, here's how it's done. then i made little slits in the side so that the stem of my chanel would be in the middle and then come out more easily, so it's like an olivia bow, but i guess i'm combining my strategy and olivia from olivia's romantic home and so I guess it turns into a Wilivia bow, so now I'm going to cut four hearts for each candle holder and these two end up being too big, but just to show you, you fold it and then you make the heart by cutting half of it. of a heart and then I'm going to place the plate on top of the vase.

I painted the top of my vase but it's not necessary and you can see I only did it with one coat so using my e6000 and my hot glue I glued the lids to the vases and then I'm going to put my birds back together now that the paint is dry, so using my hot glue I just put the wings back into their original position, so I was going to use my pink ballet slipper paint to do this, the edges of these, but I didn't like how it looked, It didn't match my birds well enough so I used some gray paint instead, the same paint I used to paint the birds' wings and it's a shade of Czech buffalo grey, so I added a little water and then I did some worn looking highlights around all the edges and the top edge of the candle plate.

Now I'm going to take some of that greenery and just cut it off. some of the leaves to put together on my own, so using my glue gun I attached some of the larger ones and then put some medium sized ones at random and made my own little bouquet so I could put it on top of my candle plate . now on top of my twig I'm going to place the bird so I took out the clip that comes with the bird and then I hot glued that twig to the top corner of the candle holder and then I hot glued my bird on top of that and then I'm going to put some hearts around at the bottom of the candle holder.
This was a lot harder than I thought simply because it's hard to work with and I'm very shy with glue guns since I got burned. so I put hot glue around the edge and then I very carefully placed it towards the bottom of the candle holders and I did it on all four sides leaving a little bit hanging and just to give it a little bit of Valentine's Day interest and then I'm going to place my bow on the front of the side that I think looks the best and here they are all ready, I think they turned out super super sweet, I love the birds and how soft the whole palette of neutrals and grays looks and that photo is very old , that's my Grandma and Grandpa passed away and are now with Jesus, but I love remembering their love and it reminds me a lot of the meaning of Valentine's Day.
Now for our second project, I'm using this red Christmas

truck

that I got from Rite Aid for ten dollars, it was on sale and then one of these Styrofoam dollar

tree

hearts, some floral foam and some of these little pink pearls which come in sheets, some assorted flowers in red and pink, and some queens and lace. buffalo plaid ribbon from the hobby lobby, this is regularly 9.99 but 50 percent off so it was only five and then some pink dollar tree burlap, some lamb's ears and some these hearts, well actually just one of these hearts from the dollar tree and then also from the dollar tree. it takes the greenery but I got this from my friend so I'm not really sure where she got it and then just the usual supplies a glue gun, wire cutters, scissors and Chanel stems so I had to remove it first the Christmas tree and the small wreath. on the front of the

truck

and it was hot glued there so it was easy to remove.
Now I don't want to do anything permanent with this because I still want to use it for Christmas and any other holidays or

decor

ations I want. I want to do it, I want to make sure it's not permanent so I just placed the floral foam inside the truck bed and then I'm going to take that Styrofoam heart and make a notch in it so it stays in place going on the back door of the truck and then I'm going to take some of the roses and just cut the stems into different lengths because I'm not sure how long or how short I want to make them and I did.
The same with the pinks. I really love these pink roses because they have some red on the tips, so I thought I would incorporate the two colors nice and soft, so now I'm going to take some of that moss and it was actually self-adhesive. which was kind of a surprise, I'd never seen that before so it was very easy to work with, of course it's always messy and that's just what comes with working with moss, but I just cut it to cover the floral foam , but in the end you can't see it at all, so you can skip that step entirely if you don't have any, so now I'm going to start poking around in my roses and make a color so I can see that it's evenly distributed and then I'll come back with my roses and eventually my uh santa aunt or santa anne lace or no queen anne lace it's Valentine's Day, so after I get them all and put them together, I'm going to move on to making my bow.
Here I wanted to show you that if you have a stem that is too short, you can just take it out and cut a piece off of another one that is longer and then replace it so that the stem is longer and you can make it stick out a little bit. taller, so instead of having a wreath on the front of the truck, I wanted to put a little heart, so I took that styrofoam heart and I wanted to use this little hacksaw that I bought from Dollar Tree, so I cut the heart. in half very carefully and glued it to the front of the truck using hot glue and then I decide to add the pearls to the outside edge so you can't see the styrofoam, so now I'm going to make an olivia bow.
Wrapping my buffalo plaid ribbon three times on each side and then I'm going to make very small notches on both sides so that it doesn't go too far, which is a little hard to control with the scissors, so you just have to go slow and do one at a time, one piece of ribbon at a time and then take the Chanel stem and wrap it around it and then pull out the sides and then I'm going to add a little bit of pink on top. of that, so I used the same Chanel stem and then wrapped it upside down after making the notches on this part as well.
Now I'm going to take the entire bow and using the extra Chanel stem that's already there, I attached it. back and this is where I'm adding the pearls to the heart so you don't see that white styrofoam and they are self adhesive and they stick really well. I was surprised and they are easy to work with because you can cut them where you need them, so now there was a place where I removed the support from the styrofoam heart and I wanted to cover it up, so I used the pearls again, now the pink heart was the styrofoam heart. it just clashes with me, it looks more like a purple, so i decided to change it with the red heart shaped styrofoam piece, so i don't know, i like them both, i like them both ways, but let me know in the comments what you think about whether you like red or pink more and I like them both ways, but here it is with red and I think it turned out super cute too, so for our next project we will use some Valentine's Day socks and bandanas.
I'm using the pink and red Czech buffalo scarf, some white rice, oh it doesn't have to be white, just some rice and a vase that won't be in the project but just to use to put the rice in the sock because we are making a gnome and one of these red hearts. I didn't end up using Queen Anne's lace. Some lamb's ear greenery and then a ribbon. I have the pink burlap and a dollar tree heart ribbon. Some elastic bands. and this is roving yarn, which is yarn that hasn't been woven yet, so we're going to use some of that and then I wasn't sure what size nose I wanted for it, but I had some beads in my wood supply and then a doorknob hanger in the Valentine's Day section of Dollar Tree and then our supplies of a glue gun, scissors, wire cutters, chanel stem and we will actually need four of the chanel stems and the first thing What I'm going to do is take one of the socks and I cut it right above the heel and then I'm going to take it and I'm going to place it over the sides of that glass vase to put my rice in there, so it's going to be like my second pair of hands and then I'll just cut it.
I made a notch in the package of rice to pour it in and I ended up spilling it, but I'm not going to show you, so I filled it up and even when you think it's full and it can't go in anymore, there can go in more. so you just tap it down and you keep tapping and you keep filling it and pushing it down and that way you can get a bunch in there and then you can make it tall and skinny or short and fat however you want it to look so I took the rubber band and I closed the top and then since it was a little see-through I went ahead and added a second sock in there because they are pretty thin socks so it won't really be seen but if you turn them over it will look like it looks like it has a tattoo of heart on the butt so I thought that was cute so I took another elastic band and closed it at the top and then I cut off the excess sock at the top and then at the bottom I'm going to close it. above, but first I'm going to put on my finger guards because again, I don't want to burn myself like I did last time, so I used my hot glue to close that bottom by just folding it over and closing that bottom.
Now I'm going to make his beard and all I did was take hot glue and make a line and then wrap the thread up and down and attach it to that glue and I had originally planned to cut it. the ends because you can also if you don't have this one that I bought at Walmart and I think it was like 17 but I love it, but you can also use it. I've seen other girls use the cotton mops from Dollar Tree. and those are really cute too, but I like how it looks without cutting it, so I went ahead and left without cutting it, so now I'm just going to add a little more glue to make sure it's secure and your beard stays on your place. and then I'm going to decide which nose I want and I chose the biggest one so I just hot glued it on top of the beard and then I made sure it fits really well there and then I'll do his hat.
So I took the scarf and I folded it in half and then I made lines of hot glue and I took my Chanel stem and I stuck it to the scarf using a popsicle stick so I wouldn't burn myself again and I did it four times andthen I wrapped it over his nose and around his beard and then I had a finished edge, so whenever you have a finished edge use that so you don't have to fold it over and add more glue, so I put the raw edge on. I glued it on first and then put the finished border on top.
Now for the top of her hat, I just used another elastic band and pulled it all together and then cut off the excess Chanel stems and then just covered it with the overlapping material. and then for her sash I used the pink burlap and wrapped it and then hot glued it to the back after folding it to have a finished edge. Now I'm going to make another twig using my lamb's ear and so on. I just glued a few pieces and attached them to the top left side of her hat and then I'm going to make a little bow to go on top of that with the heart ribbon and then I hot glued one of the bells from that door hanger on top, then I took one of those hearts, left it on the stem and pushed it down in the middle. the elastic band and on the top of her little hat right there, then she took another piece of the heart ribbon and just tied a little knot.
I didn't make a bow because there was already a bow at the bottom, so I just tied that one knot and here it is and I think he's very handsome, I should have put his beard a little higher so it wouldn't stick out, you can't tell, but I can, so next time I do it or if you guys do it, just make sure you make that beard go up a little bit more, but I think it's really cute and it's very Valentine's Day looking and very

farmhouse

looking. I hope you like it too, since I had already done three different projects and this one. it's a very important step you have to take those little hearts and eat one so our final project is going to be a wreath so I took the 14 inch wreath shape and this happy

valentine

's day red truck and I like that it has the wood on the back, so I wanted to show that and not paint over it and then two of these steering wheel covers, one of them is a little bit hairier than the other, so I'm going to use that for the front and then a little bit more of the buffalo plaid wired ribbon. from hobby lobby for five bucks never pay full price for anything at hobby lobby because it goes on sale next week and then some more pink burlap ribbon so everything is coordinated and then all of our same supplies our gun scissors glue wire cutters I wasn't sure if I was going to need the paddle wire or if the Chanel stems would work for this so I threw it in there just in case so the first thing I'm going to do is grab the steering wheel cover. and I put it in a wire wreath shape and the one that wasn't so pretty I put it towards the back so I'm working on the flat side and then I took the other one and put it towards the front and so most of the whole form would be covered and there's a seam on the side so you can measure and see if it's centered or not and to make it even all the way around, now I'm going to grab my little red truck license plate. and I attached it using the chanel stem and I attached it to the back of the wreath and I only did it on one side because it didn't reach and be where I wanted it to be so I went ahead and hot glued the rest. of the body at the bottom of the crown shape, so now I'm going to make my olivia bow and well, in this case it would be an olivia because I'm using the folding method and then I have both types of ribbon. assemble and then make that zigzag pattern.
I'm going to make three loops on each side and then make my notches and attach my Chanel stem and when you get to the foofing part you'll alternate which tape you pull left and right, so when you do it the first time you'll pull the left or you're going to throw the buffalo

check

to the left and the pink one to the right and then you're going to throw the pink one to the left and then the buffalo

check

to the Okay, if that makes sense, now I'm going to place the whole bow on the top of the crown and just using the Chanel stem I twisted it back to secure it and then I want to add some tails to it so oh I had to suffer heartbreak and then I cut two pieces to attach on each side so below the bow i held it up and then hot glued it on both sides just to make it look like it was part of the original bow and also to cover the chanel stem where i attached it to the crown and the hole that is on the other side of the truck and here it is all fact, I love this, I love the happy bun, the pinks and the reds, and I don't normally like a lot of sparkle, but in this case, for Valentine's Day, you can let yourself go and be bright and shiny just to show your love and I love how it turned out and here they are all together on my shelf.
It won't be how I'll keep it because there will be more, but I hope you like this video and if you liked it, give it a thumbs up in the comment and let me know what you think if you haven't already.
