Hello guys, welcome back to my channel if you are new, my name is Emily. I love DIY projects.

industrial

farmhouse

I am very excited because I decided to renovate my

laundry

room

. I currently didn't have a theme, so I thought, I'm going to make it my factory farm

room

. I am very excited, this video has several DIY projects as well as a styling part with vintage and second hand finds, so I really hope you all enjoy and let's get started with these projects. To start this project, we will use whatever wood you want to use. In this case I'm using a shelving board because it was scrap wood that I had in my garage and I cut it to four feet long so I take these hooks that I bought at Hobby lobby when they are on 50 off and I take hangers from my closet and I use them to help space how far apart I want to put these hooks and I'm just measuring, I think I did it about an inch from the top because I'm going to put a template on the bottom, so I'm dyeing this with honey from minwax, it's the same stain that I have all over my

laundry

room so I wanted to keep it consistent and I stained everything except the back because it will be against the wall so I let it dry for 24 hours and cut out the laundry room sign with my stencil using my Cricut machine, I'll leave the font here because I can't remember it off the top of my head, but it's a stencil type of font, so for me it was like

industrial

and

farmhouse

, so using the vinyl stencil, which is my Favorite thing, which I will use. link, it's very easy to apply, I measured to make sure it was in the middle and I'm using the expressions vinyl transfer tape which I'll link one thing I do instead of using mod podge when I have a stained surface.

I use polyacrylic to seal my stencil before adding paint to prevent bleeding. Mod Podge never worked for me. I know it works for a lot of people, but so far this polycrylic has worked perfectly for me every time to prevent bleeding, so I do it. a thin coat and I let it sit for an hour and then that's when I'm going to apply the paint so I'm using Waverly ink chalk paint and I'm not doing a super thin coat but I'm not doing a super thick coat either and I'm just painting it . I only have to apply one coat because it has great coverage.

I love this black chalk paint and I don't let the paint dry before lifting the stencil. I lift the stencil right away because I don't want any flakes to appear when I remove it if for me, if the paint is still wet when I lift the stencil, I won't have any chips or flakes coming off the paint, um, if that makes any sense. I remove the stencil, let it dry completely and then apply a thin layer of polycrylic to cover it, because I'm going to have clothes rubbing off the word laundry and I just don't want anything to rub off, so I just put the hooks on and since I had silver hooks , I'm using dark brown acrylic paint and I'm going to apply some chalk paint with black ink to mix it all together and get everything ready. is completely dry, I add D-hooks to the back of the shelf and then start measuring.

I'm horrible at this. I always ask my husband to do it but he was out of town so I tried this trick and it worked so I took it. painter's tape and put it all over the back and made sure to mark the holes with a marker where the d hooks were and then I took the painter's tape and put it on the wall, brought it up to where it was. I wanted to make sure where the holes were were the same width as the ceiling, I screwed them in and hung the new laundry rack and it was straight and I was very proud of myself and then for a finishing touch I grabbed these hangers from Walmart because they were black and gold and I thought they just added that extra industrial touch and I hope you like this.

I can't wait to start drying my clothes with that instead of what I had before this. It's going to create a lot more space in my small laundry room. This video is part of the monthly open playlist called Room by Room by the Freckled Mom Host. I love being part of this playlist. She is amazing. Please go watch her channel. and be sure to check out the link in my description to see the playlist for all the other creators in this playlist. We are going to make cute laundry signs and I had some scrap wood in my garage so I cut them according to the words I wanted to use with the many stamps I have so I pre-measured the wood to the size I needed for the wood, I cut them out, sanded them and then used Waverly white chalk paint and I'm giving it a healthy coat on all sides.
I like to have the finished look on pieces like this because it will be like a shelf, so to speak, and if for some reason someone picked it up or saw it from a different angle. I just want it to have that finished look and I also do craft sales or craft events and I have etsy pages so if I end up wanting to sell them later then they are already a finished piece so again I'm using them. Iodine stamps. I'm using the letterpress setup stamps and I'm going to spell out wash, dry and fold. If you haven't used iodine seals before, you definitely want to make sure you take some 220 grit sandpaper and do a light.
Sand over them before you start applying the ink to help the ink adhere to the stamp and it's as easy as it sounds. I'm just applying the ink. I am using a permanent black ink that stays on the mark. I bought it on Amazon. I'll link it in the description, center it on the wood and make sure one hand holds it down the entire time while the other rubs all the letters so it doesn't move. around because if it moves then you're going to stain it. Here the r didn't adhere properly, but I just removed it and reapplied it and it worked perfect, so I gave it about five minutes to dry completely and then I wanted to dry it slightly. sanding it to give it that even more aged look and I still wanted to distress it without using any more sandpaper so I decided to take the Waverly antique wax and with this very old brush that I have, I'm just lightly applying it, you know. old wax on the sides and then just a little bit on top to age it and give it that faux worn look without having to sand and make a big mess, so I do that on the front and I do that on the sides, I don't end up doing it back just so you know, okay guys this diy project is super easy so i grabbed these clothes pins from walmart they were a 50 pack for a couple bucks.
I already had this. wide mouth glass jar and I'm just filling the glass jar with the clothespins to see how many fit in there and then I wanted to age them to make them look older so I took some antique wax and added some water to it to Dilute it and I'm taking the clothespins and batching them in the individual cup so they can be completely covered with this old wax and water mixture and then I'm letting them dry completely. It takes a little time but I let them dry completely before adding them back to the glass jar and then I just sealed it and I think this adds the perfect farmhouse touch to your laundry room and your clothespins so It's a super handy thing to find in your laundry room, so I hope you like it.
This one I can't wait to add to my laundry room so I have this area here. My husband built both pieces. This is a table that he was originally going to use to fold, but it never happened, but under this. It's where our sandbox is so don't worry I'm not going to show that but I want to

decor

ate this area so this was in my family my mom gave me this washboard which I love I used to have it. hanging on the wall where I just hung the piece of dirty laundry, um, I had it there, um, with nothing else, so it was pretty boring, but this, I'm just going to rest, I think right here and I grabbed this metal basket black and It was on clearance at Hobby lobby a week ago, I think, and I bought it for eight dollars and 74 cents several videos ago.
I put this together and can link it in the description. This is dried lavender that I bought from a supplier. market and this is a second hand picture that I'm using as a vaz and I love it originally I thought it would fit on top of these cabinets but it's too tall so I'll leave it here okay in case you did. I didn't mention this before, so my husband is a carpenter, which you all know, but he's also a reserve police officer, so inevitably I always find that they know the cartridges when he goes to the range for target practice, so Andy I was also on the SWAT team so I always found these in his pocket and they make such a loud noise in the dryer so I started putting them in a little jar here because in our house they're like, you know, the random stock that you find , You know?
You always find one sock and can't find the other one in our house. I always find these so I'm just going to leave this here and you know it actually adds the perfect touch to a factory farmhouse look so Okay I bought this rug from Walmart it was like nine or ten dollars the buffalo plaid is the touch farmhouse perfect and the black just adds to all the other black details going on in the laundry room so I put it up. everything here, from things I found around my house or some of the DIYs we already did together, so I just wanted to go over a couple of things for the factory farm vibe I was going for.
I was definitely trying to incorporate something. black accents and mixing them with greenery and some ideas that you already know, like the vintage farmhouse idea, so I wanted to show you some of the vintage pieces that I already have, so my husband also has so many things about my husband in this video, my husband. He used to be an electrician too, so I came across all these, um, they're the ones I don't remember what they're actually called, um, but they used to go on top of the light pole or something, so he really likes them. I would collect them when I found them, so I actually have two of these colors.
I have a clear one that's about this big and then I have a smaller white one, so I have four of those. This piece is incredible, my mom gave it to me. and it's an old iron, this one belonged to my family and I don't remember who it used to be so my mom gave it to me a while ago and I love having some family pieces in my house. My husband collects old cameras, so if you've seen any of my other videos, you may have seen in the hutch that I

decor

ate several cameras and he has so many that they don't all fit in the hutch, so I had some extras.
I think they were the only two I grabbed. I took these to add atmosphere here. I found this old book a long time ago and it has those beautiful pages that I love and of course it's black so it's perfect for this room. I have another big book and, oh, this one. one has dust, it's been there before, let's see, so they're both actually the same book, they're both a chemistry and physics manual and they're just different editions, so I've had them for a while, this is 40 44. to edition um let's see if I can, this was in 1962. and then this is the 17th edition, which is cool, and this one is from 1932, which is cool, so I have these, oh, she's waiting for it to be made love.
Foreign law, right? I hope you enjoyed this video and the projects and the styling part. Let me know what your favorite part was or what your favorite project was. I really love mixing old with new, so I'm very, very happy with how this laundry room turned out. and I would like to say that I am very proud of myself for hanging that laundry sign. I can't for the life of me hang things up and normally my husband does, but he was out of town while I was filming everything and I wanted to delete this so I did and I'm super proud of myself so if I can do it, you guys can do it too anyway, make sure you check out the playlist that's in my description box, you can see the whole thing.
