Mar 18, 2024
The 2018 double-crop soybean harvest is underway in Western Kentucky and big tractor power is in the field with four large John Deere Class Eight

combines

. It's always exciting to see a large group of machines like this working on a farm at the beginning of this In the video, you had a preview of the four

rolling down the road and we will spend time in the field watching the combines harvest the

soybeans

to the end , when they pack up and head down the road, we will spend some time. Climb into the cab of one of these new 2018 John Deere s 780 combines and see the operator's perspective of operating a 40-foot-wide Draper header and take a look at some of the self-automated technologies that power these combines.

I hope you enjoy listening to them and seeing them at work and now we'll go out into the field and talk a little bit about what double crop

soybeans

are. Double crop soybeans are soybeans that are planted directly behind winter wheat here in Western Kentucky. Wheat is harvested at the end of May. In early June we can see one of the farm's John Deere 780 combines harvesting this summer's winter wheat crop while a combine harvested the wheat, just a few passes behind it are the farm's tractors and soybean planners. This farm uses a couple of John Deere. 9 370 Our 370 horsepower tractors are pulling 60-foot wide John Deere DB 60 planners The planners are equipped with 47 rows for planting soybeans spaced 15 inches apart The planters do not till soybeans directly into the wheat stubble, meaning no tillage is necessary, soybeans are planted directly into the soil and then grown through the wheat stubble during the summer using the stubble and straw spread by the combine to preserve moisture in the heat of summer and become a healthy crop here.

This is the header that cuts the soybeans using sickles to cut the bean stems and rubber belts to pick up the crop and throw it into the combine, where a rotor separates it. grain of plant material This combine is a Class eight machine and the classification of the combine is established by the rated power of the combine. John Deere produces Class six through nine combines ranging from 333 horsepower to 543 horsepower. This is John's second largest combine. Deere makes it with a 13.5 liter John Deere engine with 473 horsepower and has a 400 bushel grain tank and a 28 and a half foot long discharge auger and can discharge grain at 3.8 bushels per second, the great change in the John.

Deere s 700 combines for 2018 compared to previous s 600 combines manufactured between 2012 and 2017 are self-automated and the control system has a controller similar to the John Deere 8r and nine-hour tractors and has self-automation to adjust to the conditions of the crop and the operator can use a camera system to see the crop material and grain moving through the combine, so let's take a look at that and talk to the operator about these control systems, a bigger one here, like this that that's the talent and that's the tailless camera over there and then you can do the grain and then I can click on that when I turn there to tell you, although that's pretty cool, all these compounds can allow you to look directly at Iran and , so, yeah, I mean, I can make that home right there, I say. there's that tail that's a broken core, okay, overall it looks like it's doing a good job in this ditch.
I'm really impressed with them, so this will help you line it up with the other combines to make the next pass, sir, yes. yeah, it just counts my passes and then having one of us behind it, but it communicates, it shows where everyone's going, yeah, ours, comma, the cop, yeah, uh-huh, I just had, I've got this one set up where I can see the other. It combines what the third performance does instead of just painting it blue. I can tell which one is doing its performance. That's really good. It is good to do this for a long time and it is probably a fact.
I know they are the best double crop beans I have ever. Good to know, how is the healing route going this year? Well, everything we've cut so far is around 55 feet. He said it's fantastic. The combines have completed a portion of the farm and are now moving across the creek. to the next field on this farm as they continue to harvest soybeans. I'm going to get out of the cab so you can watch the other three machines cross this stream and go out to work on the next section of the field, the combines. We have

move

d to a 60 acre field and here we will be able to hear and see the machines working together along with the tractor and grain cart.
These combines belong to the farm. This is not a custom kit. They have many acres to harvest. on this farm year-round, including these double-crop soybeans, winter wheat and corn, as the combines make their way through the field, see if you can see the winter wheat stubble just below the seeds of soybeans as we get a close up of the 40 foot wide. John Deere 640 foot header moving through the crop we are in the cab of the John Deere Farms 9224 All Drive John Deere manufactured this tractor from 2002 to 2007 and it is rated at 325 horsepower. This farm uses their 9220 to pull a Kinsey 1100 grain.
Cart The cart is capable of holding just over 1,000 bushels of soybeans. The tractor and cart are equal to the four combines. Double crop soybeans typically yield 40 to 50 bushels per acre and don't really bulk up grain like corn and wheat makes corn in this area typically yield over 200 bushels per acre and winter wheat 90 to 100 bushels per acre, so soybeans don't require as much grain hauling activity as the other crops, it might also look a little different to see a 10+ year old tractor in the field with a new 2018 combination the reason why the one the farm has this 9220 on a grain cart.
The reason is that they want to save hours from their most advanced tractors, like the 2018 John Deere 9 370, our tractors that we saw. planting soybeans earlier in this video, those tractors are used for planting corn, soybeans and winter wheat because they have a lot of advanced GPS technology and other features that are great for planning when it comes to pulling a grain cart, you only need horses of force to

move

it. weight of the truck in the crop around the field and the 9220 is perfect for that job if there are code bad guys helping ooh, the soybean field is completely harvested and we will stay in the cab of the John Deere 9224.
We all drive the tractor and we followed the four combines out of the field. We have a crossing over that creek that combines, we will go out and begin to separate its heads to prepare to move along the path and we will stay with it. John Deere 9220 to see it unload the Kinsey 1100 grain cart the Kinsey 1100 cart can unload 700 books of grain per minute we will see it fill the trucks and then we will see all the machinery prepare to leave the field here we can see the s 780 combines separating from the 40 foot wide Draper 640 F D Draper headers, they will put them on these header cars and then the cars will hook up to the back of the combines to head down the road to the next field.
I hope you have enjoyed spending time on this western Kentucky farm watching and hearing how these great classes put in the work of the John Deere 780 combines and learning about this farming operation in general.
