Inside RuPaul’s Fabulous Beverly Hills Mansion | Open Door | Architectural Digest

Apr 03, 2024
Hello A.D. I'm RuPaul and welcome to our crib. Now this is our disco room. We love music. We love to dance. You know, when I was about to arrive, there was always a place where they said they don't dance cocktails anymore. We decided we needed a disco in our house and this is it, there are 26 disco balls up there and at the bottom there is a Hollywood Regency Dorothy Draper inspired fireplace which is one of my favorite things and of course on the walls we have many of My favorite disco artists, some that are not so disco but all of them are beautiful and inspire us to dance and move around this table here, it can be moved at any time, it is on wheels, so the idea is to invite people to eat a little and then move the table to the side and then enjoy a daytime disco right in this very room.

I love, love, love this room. It may be my favorite, but don't stop me. Now this is our kitchen again. It's very daring. This is a stove. That's made by a French company called Lucky You and orange is my favorite color. You'll see a lot of orange in this house. I love these lighting fixtures because they remind me of those underwater diving equipment from '19. I don't know about the '30s and '40s, but they are just beautiful. I love, love, love the finish of these cabinets and the black and white. You'll see a lot of that around the house, too.

For the record, this may be my favorite room, but don't force me into it because we're not done with the tour. Welcome to my office. It's like living in my own personal Burma box. There's a lot of orange. This is where all my Emmys are and reminds me of an office that Joan Collins would enjoy 34. 4 I realized that orange was my favorite color because of the way it makes me feel, so I implore everyone watching to find what their favorite color is in depending on how you feel it and live it and that is what I do in this office.

I love the foreign men's wardrobe. We took two bedrooms and turned them into my closet. I have everything here. It's like a historical artifact on every shopping trip. I've been there before, even Little John's is documented right here, in this very room. It is very emotional for me to be here. Oh, I remember wearing it in the episode where, oh right, I bought that little boutique in France. It's one of my favorite places because I love color and I love clothes, so having these two bedrooms converted into one closet is just perfectionism, so much storage space, so many textures and colors that makes me happy and listen, if you're going to be on this planet, why not? be happy why not live in a place that makes you happy and that is what this place does.
Now this particular piece is special because it's a sewing box and it was owned by the one and only Anne Margaret, which is pretty special now, this centerpiece.
