Grab $5 (and under) wood pieces to make these EASY Christmas Cricut DIYs!

I'm using a piece of 1x8 scrap metal, so I probably want it to be about six and a half inches wide, maybe a little less, but you'll want to measure and figure out what it is for your specific item once it's all there. size, I'm going to cut it out just on a piece of vinyl, that's why I'm using this yellow color, it doesn't matter, we just use it as a stencil material. I think the permanent vinyl sticks a little better than the When you do this method with a vinyl stencil, we will cut it out and remove all the

We're going to do the opposite, so it's like you're going to stick a sticker on something. Once you've removed everything, we'll take our 1 by 8 piece and apply it with some transfer paper. I like this masking tape because you don't have to worry about it breaking or doing anything to the

, and if you had a painted surface to begin with, it helps keep it from breaking too once it slides onto the

Then we're going to add a little more Mod Podge, before we paint over it, we're going to add a little more Mod Podge, which is my secret ingredient, when it comes to wood signs with Cricut materials, we're going to paint over it. the top with a little bit of white chalk paint with a light stroke and everything should be stuck together, but I also like to be really careful when I do this so that I don't peel off any of those little

pieces

and you can do the same thing. as many coats as you want if you want full coverage, I did it a little bit smeared here which I like, it looks rustic and then once you're dry you're going to go through a bit of a tedious process but the end result is Ok.

Pity and take off all those pieces of vinyl to reveal all your words in the beautiful dyed color. Now you can leave it as is or add a frame like I did here with one by two and added it with my nailer and here. This is how you achieve that beautiful effect. This would also go perfect with another 2x4 project. I had two pieces that were medium sized, one small and one large, and I thought it would look really nice. Holy Family setup, so I painted it white, added some vintage Wax By Waverly over the top of the white paint just to wear it down a little and then used some matte black vinyl on the Cricut Explore, but you can also use joy for this too. I removed them and applied the star of Joseph Mary and the baby Jesus to their respective blocks. I want to recreate this but it's a really quite understated piece of rustic Sagrada Familia decor for Christmas and I'm really happy with the result now at this time of year when we have our trees and everything, sometimes it seems a bit not festive if you don't have gifts, so I decided to

make

one by staining a 1x8 with an early American stain and then covering the whole thing with Mod Podge. Now stay with me, let's let the Mod Podge dry and let's go. I'm going to cut out a piece of cardstock, this is another piece from Anna Griffin from HSN, and I'm going to put some parchment paper on top so we have our dry Mod Podge, our cardstock, and then some parchment paper.

You'll check it and press it at 215 for about 30 seconds, that will reheat your Mod Podge, turn it back on and it will stick with no bubbles, no moisture, no mess, it's amazing, you can use the

easy

one. Press mini for that too, but having a heat press on hand I was able to do it really quickly, then I cut some burlap ribbon in half because I wanted it to be a little thinner than it was and used my Cricut glue gun to I applied the ribbon to the gift, then created a bow by making a small circular loop tying the center and then fluffing all those pieces on the inside.

I glued it on, as well as some glues, and this thing was ready to have a heat press or a mini press Easy to change the game a lot when it comes to the scrapbooking hack because every time I put on Mod Podge the old fashioned way and I do decoupage bubbles appear, it doesn't look good, it looks wet and wrinkled all the time. stuff this is the way to go abroad the next one would be an amazing gift I decided to make hot chocolate but you can personalize it to anyone's name or sports teams or different characters they like I took some 1x4 pieces I had three about equal length so I cut them all so they were the same length and then I also cut two pieces that would fit on the ends of each.

I nailed it all. down and then I was originally going to use these cabinet handles but they didn't have deep enough screws so I decided to go back to using the six and a half inch Menards post like the one I used on the box and that was much better.

No matter what decal you're putting on, you want to make sure you measure your tray and then I'll show you how I sized this in design space. I'm going to add a shape and I'm going to make the shape the size of the area that I want the template will really help you visualize it in design space so I'm sizing my square. I want to make sure I unlock the little lock at the top so I can make it non-proportional and then I'm just going to resize my hot chocolate design to the size of the square so it fits inside the inside.

It's just a really nice little visual trick. Then, because we're templating, I'm going to crop it out. just some white permanent vinyl, it's as simple as sending it to the machine, pressing the button and letting it do its thing, then I peel it off the mat and then I'm going to remove it like a stencil, so I'm going to remove it all. of the interior pieces versus that large exterior piece that we would normally do if we were making it as a decal or sticker, add the transfer tape and add it to the tray, make sure it's centered just like we've done on those other projects and then that layer of Mod Podge that we've been doing in all the videos, I use my little makeup sponges to do white, black and red and the nice thing about stencils is that you don't have to worry about the vinyl coming off, but here I prefer the look of painted wood versus decaled wood and it's also nice because you only have to buy a 50 cent container of paint to change the colors when you make a stencil, if you're making the vinyl you have to have that color. vinyl so that's another reason I go that route, once you peel it off you can touch up any areas you need and then I sealed it with this triple thickness Verithane that I like to seal all my stuff with.

I waited to add the handles until the end so I could put the sealant under the handle so everything was sealed and ready to go and this will be a staple for movie nights and hot chocolate bars at our home abroad, You might remember my haunted mansion sign I made. I made it in the fall and many of you asked me what I was going to do for Christmas. I should make interchangeable signs, so I made one and wanted to share it with you. I made this Polar Express sign the same way I made the Haunted Mansion sign with some.

Cedar Fence Stakes I cut three pieces to hold them together and then used my jigsaw to cut a shape similar to the other sign. Now, if you missed that video, don't worry, I'll link it below. I will show you how. to do the hanging system post and all the stuff and then for the Christmas one I got this design from Polar Express from design packs, I removed a couple of elements from the SVG file and then decided to do black and red as well. I added some little spiral swirls to each side and thought it would be perfect for our house because I have a little boy who loves trains, especially Christmas trains.

I was able to add the same hardware, the whole process was exactly the same and now I have a Halloween. and a Christmas version of the sign, so when spring comes I'll have to figure out what's next and that will be enough for this video.
