makeover

. This is the second year we are in this house. I'm really starting to feel at

home

, we have a lot more rooms finished and

decor

ated so I can't wait to tie it all together with Christmas decorations. I've been shopping for the last few weeks and picking up some new pieces that I want to add. in the decoration, but I'm also using everything the same as last year, so this year I'll add it.

We are doing the main floor and the upstairs so we can bring the decor into the bedrooms as well. I hope this video gives you some ideas that you can use in your

I like to start my Christmas decorating by putting up the Christmas tree and my main big Christmas tree goes here in this corner by the fireplace, we have sloped ceilings here so this is where the most height is and I like that you can see it from all angles, so it's really pretty.

This is my nine foot flocked pre-lit Christmas tree. I picked it up last year and I love it. I love the flocked look because it softens the green so it gives off a little more of that sage green color that I work with a lot in my home, so I think it's perfect. My favorite part is that it is very easy to set up, it comes in four parts and everything connects from the middle stem, so as soon as you insert the next piece, it lights up immediately, no need to connect individual pieces, so which is very easy and a little more fun to

decorate

foreign objects.

I know. A lot of people have said they wouldn't buy a flocked tree because it's messy, but this is the extent of the mess after you set it up and it's so easy to just vacuum it up, so I think it's perfect, especially if you have lighter furniture in your home. House a lighter color palette the flocked tree is really whimsical and I love that this tree really blinks. I'm using the same large tree skirt that I used last year, it's very soft, but if you don't have a tree skirt you can just use a small blanket and wrap it around your tree.

I usually find my cats just sleeping on the tree skirt. They aren't the type of cats to climb the tree, so I'm very lucky they don't ruin my decor. to fill these spaces I'm just using these little picks and sprays. I've had these from Berry for probably five years and I really love the deep Burgundy this year, so I'm bringing it back to the tree this year and adding it. these new Pearl Twigs, so I always recommend using picks and sprays on your Christmas tree, it's just a way to add a little bit more flair and you can get flower stems, you can get metallic colors, you can really add a lot to your Christmas tree.

Christmas just with these little stems, so I love that they add that nice winter touch and then the berries add a lot of contrast, which I love this year. I like to add color with my decorations and I customize these colors to match my home. perfectly because I like to have a very cohesive Christmas color palette, so if you can't find decorations that you like and that match your house, you can make them yourself. I just bought clear ornament balls from Michael's and put some acrylic paint on it, so off I went. to the paint section I found colors that would work with my house, you put it inside, you turn it and you have the perfect little ornament for the tree, so these also lasted until this year so I can hang them again.

I love the color palette and it really just adds this custom look to the foreign tree and then to change the shape a little bit, I'm hanging these little snowflakes. I think I found them at the dollar store a few years ago too, but they blend in a little with the Christmas tree. So I just hang them right on the edge so you can see them with a little more foreign ribbon on your Christmas tree, but I'm doing the same thing I did last year: we're adding a little bit of color and a casual flair. By simply tying a small knot in the stem and the ribbon hangs down nicely, you can get ribbons in different sizes, colors, textures and even patterns so you can add a lot to your Christmas tree by simply tying small pieces of ribbon around your Always Do Something different every year for the top of the Christmas tree and this year I will hang this paper star that I bought at Ikea.

They come in different sizes and colors, but I really like the dark green with the floral print. and it's such a large size that it works perfect for this Christmas tree. We usually don't have Christmas presents under the tree until late December, so just to add a happy touch, I'm wrapping some empty boxes with pretty ribbon and pretty wrapping. paper that matches all the decor, just adds this nice finishing touch to the foreign Christmas tree now that my staircase is in the center of my house and you can see it from everywhere. I'm tying the whole look with a flocked garland on the ladder, I bought three pieces of Garland, hooked them together and hung them with some little 3M hooks right on the edge so once you fluff it up it looks very full and really ties it together all the space now in the bedroom.

I want to be able to open my eyes and feel like it's Christmas, so I'm going to bring some of the decorative touches we're doing downstairs into this room as well to make it feel Christmassy in here. The first thing I'm going to do is change the decoration. bedding I want to make it warmer, add a little more texture, change the color and make it feel like a different bed, so I bought new bedding from Brook Linen. Foreign Christmas decorations do not always have to try to add Christmas patterns and colors. You can add that cozy look to your home with just heavy textures and large woven blankets like this one. Placing them on the bed gives it that cozy look. Now, we decorate these mirrors. This is so. An easy and affordable decorating hack you can do in your home for mirrors or wall art. I'm going to wrap them like I would a gift with ribbon, so I'll do one piece on the top and one on the opposite side. Tape it to the back and you have an instant decor piece.

I think this is very easy to do and you can do it without the little bow or you can add the bow and you can really match your ribbon to your color palette so you can totally customize it for your home. I love that it uses existing pieces in your home, but just adds that nice Christmas touch without buying anything new. I love the way it looks, it totally frames the bedroom and makes it feel like Christmas. Here I would say that small Christmas trees and ribbons are my main decoration piece this year. They are so easy to add to existing pieces that you can even wrap your books like this and create the look of small gifts in your home. the second Christmas tree, this is one that you see practically when you walk around the house, it's in our TV room, it's the first Christmas tree I ever bought, it's six feet tall, it's pretty small and it's also pre-lit so I decorate it.

This one is pretty much the same way with all the extra decorations from the first Christmas tree and it just helps tie the whole house together and adds a little happy touch in each room and lastly I'm adding my little senses. I forgot about these. but I usually add them first, these add that Christmas tree scent to your fake Christmas tree and really helps your whole house smell like Christmas, so these just hang inside your tree, you can hide them there. I put them on both trees, so the whole house smells like Christmas, I'm going to decorate The Mantel and this little bookshelf so everything feels and looks like Christmas and everything is very cohesive, so first let's start with this little basket here below what I'm putting. a cozy blanket and layers of some of these birch logs.

I found these log groups at Michael's, they were on sale, they look super cute, they also have them in a glossy version so now they add that nice cozy touch next to the fireplace. Every year I try something new for the mantel, so this year I'm going to make a eucalyptus garland all over the mantel and eucalyptus works really well in my house because it's a muted green, it's not too vibrant so it goes very well. Good with flocked Christmas tree. and all the other sage green colors in the house. I have several pieces of these, so I'm just layering them together to make them look a little fuller and thicker.

I like that you can make this garland look wintery and perfect. for the holiday season, but it's also something that you can put on your table in the summer and still get that pretty green look, so it's something that you can have pretty much all year round and use for different purposes and also just hanging my tights, these are just neutral fuzzy faux fur tights that match my tree skirt, they are really minimal and I've had them forever so I wear them every year and I'm styling the top of my mantel with just a little neutral color. strange reindeer to the main living room.

I usually just add a few small Christmas touches to the surfaces, so on the coffee table I'm bringing in this large vase with flocked stems and berries again to tie the Christmas tree into the rest of the rooms. and bring my favorite scented candle, Christmas tree scent, any Christmas tree scented candle is my favorite, it looks pretty, smells amazing and makes the house feel very cozy, so this is always a must have piece and I'm changing my style. books with a Christmas book again just to add that similar touch and style that I normally have, but in a slightly more Christmassy way.

If you have bowls or trays in your house you can fill them with your extra decorations and again it just adds that extra touch of Christmas to your home and helps tie your tree decorations into the rest of your space so this is a great way to integrate similar pieces in a similar color palette into the rest of the house. We recently moved our piano into the living room. This used to be where the Christmas tree was, but I love how it looks and feels in the living room. It's much cozier, so I think you could stay here.

I'm finishing it. with a little framed sheet music, I also found this at Michael's house, such a cute little touch you can add to any piano and this little touch ofgreenery just to finish it off now in the dining area that I'm just going to add. a few little touches just to tie it all together with this existing vase. I'm putting in some fall stems and winter stems because I love that color combination that comes with this little burgundy potted plant and a little battery operated candle. I love creating small groups of three, they create really nice moments and vignettes in any space, so always think in small groups of three and your decor will look amazing.

Now, on the mirrors again, I'm making the mirrors look like gifts, so I'm wrapping them. them in ribbon just like we did above, but in a little different style because these mirrors are a little busier, so I'm using that deep red to wrap them, tie a little bow and make them look like little Christmas presents. I think it creates such a nice moment in this dining room that doesn't have a lot of stuff and really adds that wow factor that feels like Christmas now of course we need to decorate the entryway. a little to make it feel like Christmas right when you walk in the door.

I'm decorating this console table and also the front door just to tie it all together, so this is the Aretha I had from last year. I hung it up and there are also some twinkle lights from last year still woven into them and the battery still works so I didn't even have to change it. I'm also putting up this little checkered rug. I might move it outside to put it on my welcome mat, but for now I like it right at the front door. I'm also tying some extra bows again just to tie the whole bow theme throughout the house and changing out some of these decorative pieces to make it easy to style multiple things if you have a small tray.

I used this tray and I'm just decorating it with a little Christmas tree, these little berries again to tie them together around the house and again one of these big light up ornaments. This entrance is a sort of walk-through area from the living room. room to the family room, so let's go back to the family room to finish all the decoration on the TV stand. Here I'm styling some additional little pieces, a little Christmas tree to add that flocked look in this room too. In addition to some existing decorations, I'm also using a cookbook holder to open a page from a Christmas book.

This is a very easy way to decorate, even if it's just a small cookbook, but look how easy it is to decorate your house when you're finding decorative pieces that match your existing decor, you don't have to remove as much, you can just work with what you have and add things to it, so I'm also adding to this little DIY bar that I made here. in this little A-frame cabin, some small decorative candles and this flocked piece and the last finishing touch is the Christmas toilet paper. I know this is a bit more, but I thought it would be really fun to add to the vanity. the bathroom that all the guests use, so I thought it would be fun to decorate the toilet paper too.
