Mount Arthur

Apr 14, 2024
Today we are in Lyale, in the north east of Tasmania. I'm here with my brother-in-law Harry and, uh, Otto, here, today is his birthday and we're going to Mount Arthur. I know the answer well. I am having a good time. It's steeper. than I expected, but I guess that's what happens when you're climbing

ains. Yes, we have been walking for about 2 hours and in places it is quite steep. A good walk. I did this about 20 years ago, funny how your memory plays tricks on you, that's not how I remember it at all. I don't remember it getting that far to begin with, so at this point we've lost track, it just came to an end, so, um, we. just rock hopping to the top and hopefully we'll soon find the clue here, not ideal for climbing back up, well rock hopping turned out to be an unsustainable solution so we went back to our last known marker and I've found a clue here, So let's follow it and see where it takes us.

It's fun, isn't it? Oh, here we go, a marker. Well, we followed that boardwalk for a while, but we think it just led to that non-summit platform. We find a marker here that leads here. Well done, Otto. That's quite an achievement on your tenth birthday. Yeah, well, we persevered and finally made it to the top. Sometimes we thought we might give up and it's a bit foggy today, which isn't helped by the fact that there has been a bushfire at Ravenswood, near Lon Seston, but you get very good views from here down to Lon Seston. Tamer to the coast and then south of here you have Mount Barrow with Ben Lyman in the background and also quite wide views to the north-east, although we can't see anything nowadays, that's all. hidden in the mist
