Hi friends, I'm Sarah from rufflesandrainboots.com and today we're making an

of any size. These are too cute and if you want it to stay as usual, like this video. I know you're here crafting with me, so here's this little one I made mine, 12 inches tall and it's 6 inches wide, so you'll need a one inch wooden ball. I would say it would be the smallest. I can also make a nose out of nylon. I'm going to use faux fur. I'm going to make mine as wide as this cut, so I'm just trying to use this on a big project that I love. this fur is very pretty and it's actually a hickory print sheet so it's not stretchy at all just the little stretchy parts are stretchy so all I'm going to do is cut out a section and then I'm going to determine my pattern, so I want mine vertical.

I'm going to fold it in half and then fold it in half again. The reason I do it is because I want two cuts of fabric but I don't want to have to do it. cut them separately. I will also tell you that you don't need a pattern for this. I'll show you why, so I have four layers here and then I'm just going to cut out kind of a house shape. I'm going to go ahead and pin the two fabrics or all four layers of fabrics together. I'm going to measure 12 inches and then I'm going to cut as wide as I think I want.

More Interesting Facts About,

I ended up cutting a little too wide, so now I'm going to make it three and a half so that the whole thing is seven inches wide at the base by 12 inches tall and then I'm going to cut the shape of my house cited so that the roof part left will be at six inches, so I'm going to show you this, so now we have three and a half by twelve, you can see, and then at the six inch mark, here we go, I'm just going to cut that part of the roof down here. move to the right here, there you go, now everyone can see, so I'm going to hit that six inch mark here and now we're ready, so when you unfold this, you might have the bottom or the side, one side yours still united.

It doesn't matter if you have two separate little pieces of the house, okay, all we're going to do is make sure we put the right sides together, that's it, now we have the wrong sides together and the right side facing out so I'm going to give it back to this completely. I'm just making sure it fits my beard. Remember I'm trying to use this material so I don't have to pack so much faux fur when we move from Seattle to Texas okay so you can see here I'm just going to measure this about six inches that's where my break is and then I'll use a marker so we have a lot of new followers here that are new to faux fur cutting. on the back of your material you can write, you can use a marker, it doesn't matter, so if you are new and worried about cuts, measure how far you want to go in the beard, you know the depth of the beard and the width of the beard and just make those marks right on the back of the faux fur.

It is a fabric backing. It's quite thick. You can use a disappearing ink. You can use a pencil, but I'm just using a marker so it shows up very easily. and then I'm going to make a very simple triangular beard and I want to tell you why this fur is so pretty. I am using an Exacto knife or razor blade to cut just the fabric backing of the fur. You see, I'm holding that. With the hair up you never hit the table so all you are doing is gently pressing down through the fabric backing only and then you can separate it very easily.
You see that little thing here now. Look when you separate it. Look how beautiful. that edge is: you can do it with scissors, you can, it's a little harder, it's and it's slower, so I don't like it, so get yourself a finger guard or something to press on, let's do the The top is look good using a hot glue gun to fold that top part over a quarter of an inch so I'm not even going to use that thing I'm just going to fold it over and let it sit before I move on to the next third and then just make sure that the whole part top is facing down, you don't have to do this for the sides because the fabric backing won't be seen, we're going to glue it all together and because our fur, you know, widens to one side, no one's going to see it, but on the top top you can definitely still see the fabric backing and it's going to look a lot more finished when you do that top edge, so like I said before, we're going to turn this over to where the right is.
The sides of the fabric are together no matter where your sides meet or if they're not joined it doesn't matter, then you'll have a section that will stay open because that's how we're going to turn it. We're just going to paste here right along the edge. I'm using a hot glue gun with a detail tip and the reason I like these is because you can get a thin but generous portion of hot glue, so after you get the first one about two inches at the bottom, go up and leave about three inches in the middle and the reason I say that is because if you want a tassel you're going to have to stick it through that hole so just go up the side. just a little bit of the way and then if you want the tassel you can make your own or just use something commercial.
I'm going to make my own using this thicker yarn. It's a very thick yarn that I bought at Walmart because I'm running. With the dollar tree yarn I packed all my backups so I'm just making a normal tassel roll wrapper and then creating the little backgrounds after giving it a nice little trim it's done so what we're going to do is go. to put the tassel on the inside of our piece with the little long tails hanging back so I let mine fall a couple of inches or so so it's nice and prominent and then on the flat part of that triangle I'm just going I'm going to glue the two strings together and I'm going to let them sit before I continue and then I'm going to glue all the rest of this back together.
I'm trying to use a glue gun with a detailed tip so I can stay consistent in the seam that I'm creating just like when you're sewing, you're going to stay consistent with a quarter or half inch seam. We're doing the same thing with the glue gun, so again on this side we have the opening we're talking about. three inches, I'm just showing it to you here so everyone knows that on a six by twelve, this is going to be a three inch opening now, if you make something bigger, adjust that opening a little bit, so now I'm just going to Go this far. just making sure that this is exactly the speed at which this doesn't accelerate.
The reason I want to show you is because that's how fast I go just to make sure those seams are nice and lined up, so once I check my seams, I don't have any holes except this big one here. I'm going to go ahead and put my hand in. I'm going to grab that tassel and pull it out first and then you can see it right there. Take something that is dull. I can use an eraser, a bamboo skewer. I'm using the dull edge of these pinking shears and just pull out the tip, it'll be a little bit flat on the top, that's good, that's what we want and then go ahead and pull out everything else. paying attention to the two corners at the bottom and taking them out, but also the little house sticks out, the roof sticks out that thing over there, I don't know what to call that, the shoulders, I'm not quite sure the bottom of the hat , let me know in the comments below what it's called.
I really don't know, so now you can see we're ready for two more articles. We're going to use some kind of weight here. Hey, look at a random pin. Here I am going to use polyethylene granules, these do not absorb odor and do not absorb moisture. You can use aquarium gravel. You can use whatever weight you want. I try not to use food objects in mine. The second element that we are going to use. The use for stuffing is called polyfill and this is just animal stuffing, like stuffed animals like the inside, I buy it in bulk at the craft store or on Amazon, but if you don't like some stuffed animals in your house or some old

pillow

s.
You can use that too, so I'm going to go ahead and fill all the corners pretty good so that everywhere there is a corner is filled with poly and then when I have all the corners filled, I'm going to add my one cup weight, so I'm just using a funnel just because that's how I fill my

gnome

s. I end up throwing this everywhere because of the way I cleaned it off camera, but it's right there or maybe it's here. I don't know, all I remember is that I had to clean out a lot of this, so once that weight is there, I'm going to fill in the middle and the bottom two little feet as best I can.
I want it to bounce. when you squeeze it, that's going to give us a nice heavy base for little feet to form, so all of this is not included, there's nothing else with this, it sits on its own or stands on its own and can lean on it as well. against things to close this out, we're going to go the lazy girl route right here and this is how I normally do it, which is just hold it up by folding those edges a quarter of an inch inward and then glue it on if you want Be fancy, you can pin it on sections like this and do it that way.
I'm not elegant. I usually do it with a glue gun, but look how fancy I am for all of you, so let's wrap that up. and again we're going to separate the seam that you're going to check to make sure nothing's coming undone and now's the fun part, we're just going to hit it against the table to fill all that stuffing and wait and you can see it stand up. Now it's time to turn it into a gnome and we're just going to find the center of our beard by folding it in half and then we're going to lift up the top quarter inch of fur.
Beyond the fabric backing, add a generous portion of hot glue and place our little one inch bead here or the round wood until it's dry and now we're just going to glue it on so line everything up right in the center and then lift a side add a very generous portion of hot glue if you love torturing yourself with hand sewing you can absolutely sew this beard with a simple stitch use a matching fabric or thread of course but I'm going to hot glue mine on if you have little kids or pets who like to destroy things.
I would absolutely recommend sewing. We will also do the bottom part because this guy is done, there will be no adjustments after this, once you have done all this, check everything. Stand him up and it's time for his big debut. You can see it here standing alone in my craft room. I absolutely love this little guy. I love how the little feet form on the sides. Oh, but what do you think? Let me know. comments below I would love to hear your opinion as always thanks for being here, like, share and subscribe for more craft fun.
