How I started with Barry Harris and what I learned and still learn

Hello Internet, so I thought I would share with you today a short story about how I

attending Barry Harris' class and

ed in the first instance despite my better nature or my worst worst nature and

I continued to

learn

until today. She went a couple of times before and I was like, yeah, I heard about that. I know yeah, he does it, he puts in the midtones, right, he does that bebop stuff. I, of course, having gone to a prestigious school, thought I knew everything there was to know about everything, but I thought: yeah, sure, sure, okay, so we'll go. I went and we went down there and I don't know those of you who have been in class. They know it's a very interesting situation when they first walk in there and it's almost like a press conference with everyone holding up their videos. and competing for a position next to the keyboard and at first that was a little worrying for me, you know, being used to a more organized pedagogical model, so to speak, but you know as the night went on there was something to that, the way he teaches that. only the word truth in the lights came out like this, that's how it's done that's how we did it none of those people in those schools asked us how we do it, they invented their own way, in fact, he says that much no one came to see, you know, Hank Jones said how we do this, no one came to Coleman Hawkins and told him how we do this, but they teach it their way, that made me think you know, and I

Well, so this is your Tuesday night in the future, you know, just being in a room with someone who is there, another colleague of a long-buried master said it best when he said there is no substitute for direct exposure because even if you don't.
