A Day in the Life of the MSC Virtuosa - A Tour of the Ship

May 09, 2024
Hello and welcome to the MSC virtuoso. I recently spent 12 days aboard this

ship

sailing from Southampton to the Canary Islands and back. MSC offers an excellent cruise experience. I was pleasantly surprised when I surfed to them last year and in the year since they started. I've gotten even better, check out this video for a review of that experience. The

virtuosa

has been in service for only two years and is still in excellent shape. Five larger

ship

s have entered service in the last 12 months, which has knocked her down to being the 16th largest cruise ship in the world, there are many large ships and more are launched every year, she sailed with around 4,200 passengers on board and, Although it was often difficult to get a seat in the popular bars in the evenings and it was necessary to grab a sunbed early in the day on sunny sea days, it actually felt quite manageable to share a boat with so many people until we tried to get off, which It was the exact moment Border Force decided to do everything possible to stop everyone. put out this video for that story in this video I will try to make a

tour

video of the ship that is really interesting to watch and I am going to continue with my strategy of presenting it in a day in the

life

format, so yes I would like to see what it is like to go through a day on the MSC virtuoso, stay Hi, I'm Matt and I love sailing.

I love the boats, the places you visit, the entertainment and from time to time I will also enjoy a drink, so subscribe and you. You might just pick up some tips, tricks, and advice to improve your next cruise. Your day will begin in your cabin and you may be hungover as msc parties are a big part of the entertainment experience and can continue into the early hours of the morning. I reviewed a cabin like this one from last year that you can find here even without a hangover, you'll probably be hungry so breakfast is calling and as always let's pretend it's a day at sea so you don't have a harbor outside luring you out from the boat, you can have space. service, although it is always best to place an order before going to bed.

More Interesting Facts About,

Breakfast delivery can be doubled when your alarm call. The main dining room will be open and was a good experience for us, but most people are keeping it simple and heading to the buffet. the virtuoso buffet is not the best layout the serving areas are all flat rather than being podiums so signs can form especially at breakfast when it can be busy and traditional fry up items are only offered from a couple of places, but the Food quality and variety was good, some of the best bacon I've ever had and if you head to the back of the buffet area there are more serving spaces including an omelette station that is quite well hidden after breakfast, it might be wise to go and grab a sun lounger by the pool, in fact you may have wanted to grab one on the way to breakfast, but let's save it for the afternoon and go explore the ship.

The focal point is the Galleria Virtuosa, a two-story space in the middle of the ship where most of the shops and services are located, the layout separates you from the ocean outside, which I always think is a bit embarrassing, as it makes me I like to be reminded that I'm at the sea rather than in a shopping mall, although the huge ceiling doesn't do that. Add something to the space that other boats lack Several times each night a short fishing show will be presented and the display changes throughout the day the shops, bars and restaurants in this space as well as an excursion center and reception area For people interested in learning more about the MSC Foundation just above the theater on Deck Nine there is a very large Spa, although I didn't manage to get on any of the cruise ships to be able to film any of the other attractions on Deck 16.

There is no deck 17. on Italian ships, since the Roman numerals for that number xvii are an anagram of the Latin word vixi which means I have lived, implying that death is not much of a reason for a superstition, if you ask me, there is a deck 13 and none of the possible reasons why the number 13 is considered unlucky seems particularly plausible to me, since this space includes several children's clubs, a games room and a multi-sports area. There is also a gym if you wish, it's actually not very big and although I'm not. gym expert, seemed to offer what you would need to offset the effects of all that bacon.
Lunchtime will come quickly and it will be time to make decisions again. The buffet is a great option again and, unusually for me, I didn't get bored. If you go there over the course of our 12 days, the good salads and pastas give you some interesting options. There is a burger, hot dog and pizza buffet near the pool, although I didn't love the food on offer there, the only place on the ship where I wasn't overly impressed with the food, the main dining room is a more formal option and the Most specialty restaurants will be open on sea days and some will also be open on port days, which is quite unusual in my experience after lunch.
The lure of spending some time in the sun on the horizontal plain can be overwhelming. The virtualizer has two pool areas: the main atmosphere pool on deck 15 and the Horizon pool at the rear of the ship on deck 16. Outdoor hot tubs are near both pools and all are very busy on Air Cruise , as are virtually all other open terrace areas where a sun lounger can be placed, hence my previous advice that it may be advisable to book a spot early on to avoid disappointment later if the weather is not good, there is also a sun terrace . which houses a pool and four hot tubs, there are a couple of seating options in this space, including some lounges upstairs, but overall it may not be optimized to maximize the number of people who can comfortably settle here, which is another way of saying that it gets very crowded when the weather is not good and denser seating would allow more people to enjoy the space.
The Virtuosos also have a water park, the Savannah Water Park on deck 19. Last year the weather was a little gloomy so I never got a chance to try the slides. The weather was fine at the start of this year's cruise. I expected it to get better and better as we went south, but sadly it didn't. It was actually quite nice weather when we arrived in the Canary Islands so once again I missed the slide experience, everything looked pretty good though hey, it gives me a reason to book the virtuoso again. The arrival of the afternoon will also mark the passage of the sun over the penol, so it is probably time for a drink.
There is a bar next to each one. all three pools, although not as many roaming waiters as you might want or expect, the waiting service was actually the best in the sun terrace in our experience, which was a bit surprising, but with a mostly British clientele, the signs for the bar They were extremely tidy if you have chosen or been assigned an early 5-30 dinner session, you will need to leave the pool a little earlier than seems ideal to prepare for the evening and perhaps have a drink before the dinner. Some options for pre-meal meals, our favorite was the Sky Bar which offered good views of the pool and any football showing on the big screen is also at the same end of the ship as the main dining room which minimizes the duration of the trip to other places.
The options are the virtuoso bar on deck 6 and a cocktail at 5:00 p.m. m. Before dinner is possibly the best way to enjoy this bar as it was a focal point of the evening's entertainment and got packed much later in the Masters of the Sea bar. One of the best draft beer deals I've ever seen on a ship and the Down On Deck 5 infinity bar is also a nice option at a time when the buffet will once again be an option, although three visits in one day may be too much for the main dining room. The room, more precisely, one of the four main dining rooms is the traditional option and was also a very good option.
We enjoyed excellent food on each of our visits and many very good portions and the waiters will be happy to help you if they can. I can't decide between starters so I decide to have both also excellent service. I haven't experienced any of the luxury cruise lines yet, but I think this was easily the best dining experience I've had on a ship for two formal nights over the 12 nights we spent. We were on board both days at sea. MSC calls them dressy nights and there's no need to worry too much about dressing up if you don't want to, although most people did.
The specialty dining rooms are also worth visiting. There are five in the virtuous Hindu. sheen is really excellent vietnamese french fusion cuisine also hi tacos is an all you can eat mexican concept. I haven't been there but I've been very tempted by this teppanyaki and sushi option, both branded kaito and the butcher cut is marketed as an American Steakhouse which is a shame, the food was pretty good there but it's not an American Steakhouse experience after dinner. There are still a few bars to go to Bar Italia adjacent to the Indochine restaurant. It's a French cocktail concept that is really excellent. great cocktails, great live music and the cocktail making by the bartenders is a spectacle in itself, one of the best bar equipment I have ever seen and I have seen some in front of the pub, it is the television studio and the bar I never really visited, but it offered karaoke most nights and there's also a Starship bar where a very bemused and unloved robot will make you a cocktail if you pay it to do it, as its concoctions are not included on the drinks package, which probably explains why I never visited.
I saw someone using the services of the robot insinuating that they are helpless and unloved, it is really a shame and I am sure MSC is looking into it as the bar occupies a really prime property next to the central atrium with 4200 passengers on board three times per night. Shows were offered in the main theater, there are around 900 seats so with so many on board there is the potential for many people to be disappointed not to get a seat; in fact, there was a reservation system in place and it seemed to be enforced, although I didn't have 100.
Convinced that the phones the team was using to scan airline cards actually worked, we generally arrived about 15 minutes before the show and had no problems getting Getting good seats, there was no drink service in the theater which isn't a big deal since the shows are only 40 minutes max. I talk about the entertainment in my cruise review, but over 12 nights we enjoyed five production shows and seven guest artist shows and enjoyed it all. This time we also visited the secondary performance venue which is the Carousel Lounge on Deck 7 at the back of the ship again. I talk about it in my review of the cruise, but it was pretty fun and probably worth the extra fee.
The evening will already be in full swing, so you may want to try your luck at the casino and of course there is another bar there to help you with the celebrations or condolences. Other artists will appear in the main lobby of the Sky Bar and also in the pub. 30 each night, MSC organizes a party. mainly in the Virtuous Galleria but occasionally by the pool if the weather presents different themes each night so someone had to find 12 people on our cruise which is not easy they are great fun and the entertainment team makes Good job creating a good atmosphere, there will also be pop-up bars in the area as it can get a little crowded in the nearby bars.
It's a big ship and there are many more details to enjoy in the public areas. Hey, there's a whole Yacht Club boat inside the boat area. that I never visited. I have spent 19 days in the virtuoso. I wouldn't think twice about booking to spend more time on it, which isn't something I can say for all the boats I've been on, so thanks for looking, I hope you do. I enjoyed it, like this video, if you did, consider subscribing if you're new and leave me a comment. Have you been to the virtuoso?
