Over sized Sweetheart Candy Box

Mar 30, 2024
Hello everyone, glad to have you back today. We are going to make a large

candy

box. This will be the last craft for Valentine's Day this year, so let's get started. The first thing you need to do is find a box that you want your

candy

box in. to be the size and then you will have to close the box with adhesive tape. This part will only apply to you if you are going to have the box open and closed, so I went ahead and cut out the opening. one side and the reason is because if you leave the entire tab there you can't open and close that box once you've squared it, the next thing you're going to have to do is cover the box, like in this video.

As in many of my other videos you will learn from my mistakes and at first I tried covering the box with wrapping paper this won't work and you'll see why here in a minute so let's proceed this is the candy. box I'm going to work on and there are different ones out there so whichever one you choose, it's up to you for this specific box, there is a frame, a white frame around the front of the box, so I needed to figure out how to create that frame, so i ended up having to cut this heart out and then tape my pattern on, that way i created this frame, once i had all the hearts drawn i went ahead and proceeded to paint it, so from the first brush stroke i made on this I could see that this paint wasn't going to work and it's actually not the paint that wasn't going to work, it was the wrapping paper and I just went ahead and continued because I wanted to see how bad it would get if this ripple didn't work.

You don't mind then definitely go for the wrapping paper which is much easier to use to cover the box, even after drying it you can see it was still very wavy so I had to go back to the drawing board and needed something stronger, so I thought. You know, it would probably be better to use cardstock, so I went to Walmart and picked up a package of cardstock for a white color and I also needed red, so after this step back, I ended up having to remove that wrapping paper since I had already drawn all of them. the hearts in this little rectangular piece at the top, so I grabbed them all and cut them out as you can see here with the wrapping paper.

I used all of them, I just cut them all out and then transferred them to the cardstock. and then I just plotted them so I wouldn't redo everything that way. If you have a Cricut machine, this will work great. I use it to cut out the sweet heart logo. If you don't have a qriket machine, maybe you do. I can do an internet search for the candy hearts logo and then print it out and then maybe you can work with that, of course the simplest step would be to write the word freehand. I also use the qriket machine to cut out the company logo once I made it there, transferred it to a white sheet of copy paper or printing paper, stuck it there and then cut it out.

Next thing we're going to glue all the cutouts onto our box if you're lucky enough to have a qriket machine and you printed out the net weight of the product, go ahead and pretty much take your template, trace it with the pencils that way, when you transfer the letters, will place them in the exact spot and since we're making this box bigger I went ahead and changed the net weight from here. I went back to the qriket machine and printed the label with the nutritional value information on the side of the box. I'm still new to using this qriket machine so there are some bugs.
I made it so this didn't look too good, as you can see I had to cut several pieces because I didn't know how to solder these letters, which is a term that only people with shackles would know what I'm talking about. but anyway, if you can do it freehand again, it will be much easier. From here we're going to go ahead and cut out a variety of colors of hearts and then start placing them under this heart because remember in the box or in the box you see a window, it's like a window, a little plastic window in this pair of hearts.
I went ahead and wrote the messages once you have placed the hearts where you want, go ahead and put some glue so that they don't break. Then I found a piece of plastic that was big enough to cover this heart or to create the window and then I went ahead and glued it in from here. I'm going to take some filling and stick it under each heart just to give heart some dimension to stick this framed heart on I used a glue gun because we created some dimension for this little window and we needed something to adhere quickly lastly we're going to make the heart candy and I used styrofoam if you want to see The colors I used were similar or should I say identical to the colors I used in another video.
Check out this link here to learn how to make an over

sized

candy necklace. Once the paint was dry I went ahead and used skewers and a couple of about 12. one inch dowels to attach these hearts, lastly it's time to set it up and I hung this box over a dowel. If you want to see how to set up a decorative hanger, go to my channel and look for the thumbnail that shows the only decoration for two holidays and in that video I show how to set up a decorative hanger to hold these types of items. The reason I used different lengths of dowels and skewers was because I wanted to give the hearts different heights. and once you've done that, you can simply arrange the hearts like you would if you were making a flower arrangement and there you have your over

sized

candy box.
One of the goals I have for my channel is to grow this channel. big enough to be able to gift these different little crafts or decorations that I make to one of my subscribers, as I said at the beginning, this is the last Valentine's decoration for this year. I'll be starting the St. Patrick's Day craft, so I hope to see you back. For those who have a good goodbye.
