court

in a moment, but let's start with the cutest news of the week: another royal baby, Rebecca, tell us who she is and why the world had to wait a while to find out that Princess Eugenie had her. second baby A little boy, I think seven pounds and an ounce, called Ernest George Ronnie, which I think is a lovely name because he has August, who he calls Augie, so he has Ernie and Augie, oh, but I really need more details about the erroneous not very Royal Ronnie.

Where does it come from? It comes from Ronald Ferguson, who was also his maternal grandfather, and there's also a nod to George V, who was obviously George, but also had Ernest as a middle name and George was Jack Brooks Bank's name. her husband's late father and Ernest apparently just liked him, beautiful now Richard, how long do you expect to wait for young Earnest to grace the pages of your diary? Give it a chance, let it in. I mean, you know, let's go first, yeah, I mean. Of course, essentially everything depends on the role that the

prince

ss usually plays in the future.

You know, you remember that Queen Elizabeth shared the burden of her work with her cousins. You know she had the Duke of Gloucester, Princess of the Duke of Kemp. Alexandra carries out engagements and does things with her, I mean, personally, in the future I would really like to see Prince William being helped by his cousins, like Princess Eugene and Princess Beatrice, who we saw looking so beautiful at the wedding in Jordan, the last time. week, you know, I think they would really help Prince William when the time comes and would be a really useful addition to the family.

I thought it was a really lovely surprise to see the

prince

ss, yeah, she's in Jordan with the York tiara which we haven't seen, yeah. for decades and she really carried herself with incredible poise and elegance and there was some really good feedback on social media and people saying, I'd like to see a little more of that. Yeah, I mean, maybe not now, but maybe in the future. um, you know, when her cousin is king, they might feel like it's the right time to dedicate their life to royal duties. Well, I'm also looking forward to Richard Eden, 90+, still writing that diary, give me a break, never now. well if you love a royal baby and don't make sure to check out our montage which will be posted a little later in the show but Princess of Wales's Rebecca has now been busy with what you want to say so earlier this week She was at something called The Windsor Hub, which is basically for families in the Windsor area, providing support and help, and there was some sort of great conversation there, but yesterday I was with her at Maidenhead Rugby Club for a really fantastic event.

It was so a bit multifaceted, so we had her in sportswear, she maybe she actually shared the same sneakers as me. I saw people on social media saying we should call the sneakers Markley, so she was a little offended by that, that's me, I played the princess. from Wales that steals your gaze, she did, for once, yes, um, and she was playing a game of traveling rugby with two England rugby stars, but there was a serious point to the visit because they also had some kind of argument group, it's about this big project of yours to highlight the importance of the years from zero from birth to five and it was a discussion about parenting and what your experiences as parents have been like and what better support you could get and it was something that I think which was really interesting. is listening to this conversation I've always said about the Princess of Wales.
I don't think she's always been the strongest communicator. You know, it's been a learning curve for her. She hasn't necessarily been comfortable with it, but she sat there. the only woman among this table full of very successful athletes and she really spoke up asking questions, the right questions, directing them to different people listening to her answers. I think it's a topic that she obviously feels quite comfortable talking about, but so do you. It was like a lightbulb moment for me. I thought you could really see her recovering and I was very impressed with her yesterday. It reminds me of Catherine's age, 40 and 41, yeah, so I think that confidence. she just grows and grows and you know, part of it includes me, you know, television is not a natural forum, she is quite intimidating and I don't think we should reprimand her for that, obviously, she has a lot more professional help and support. but you know, she herself has said that she really had to go out of her comfort zone to do it and I thought that yesterday she was very good.
I think you are more than capable of mastering your own English, no I don't think you are fine. but now Richard, we haven't seen much of the letter, we saw Prince Andrew recently, but he looked pretty when a dog walker found him the other day, I think because he no longer carries out any kind of official duties, there is quite a few. of interest in you know see what he's doing and these photographs I must admit made me laugh out loud it was him in a Range Rover with a friend or a colleague um on the long walk and they were behind um a lady walking her dogs, but obviously they're going really slow and maybe the car is electric so you know it doesn't make much noise or maybe the dog walk is like yeah okay and she said to him, happily you didn't notice the car right behind her, so she was walking around and I think they were getting a little frustrated, but it's not a very good picture to begin with, you know, beeping, honking, yeah, she's got enough PR problems, yeah, she did.
Coming down through her window at one point, she kind of put the I got out of her, so I think maybe he was tending to show you again. I kept going, but I think he resisted and she finally noticed and came over, but they targeted some and you saw him in the car laughing a lot about it afterwards. So anyway, despite whatever life is like for him these days, at least he can laugh sometimes. Well, I think the main takeaway is that the Dogs beat the Royals and that's the only thing in my opinion, but Rebecca we also heard the news over the weekend. that the king was going to give up his home in Wales yeah, come on, I'm going to try to pronounce this and I apologize to any kind of native Welsh speaker.
I think it's pronounced something like clean wormwood. How are you spelling? Man, I won. Don't do it, you're a horror, you really are, um, so it's basically an estate that he had since he was Prince of Wales. It was purchased by Dottie of Cornwall as part of a series of holiday rentals they have in the area. they did and, you know, they made money for Dashie from Cornwall, but there's one of those properties in this little group of properties in Wales that she used maybe a couple of times a year. I mean, I think this story has been slightly exaggerated in that when the queen died and her son became Prince of Wales and took over the dukedom, eventually it was his property now he, his father still said, well, let's see how wow, he may still want to use it as effectively as William his father's owner and he's obviously just realized, look, I'm just not going to be able to go there much and if I do, I'll go there as king in a slightly different capacity. , so now you won't be paying any rent, but I think some people have wanted to suggest that this is, oh, you see, they've been quite parsimonious, they're downsizing and no, it's not really the answer, it's still there, you know ?, and it will be rented in a holiday property, so I have a question, do you think it is possible for the royal family to forget how many houses they have?
We've talked about it a lot on this show, aren't we written? It is a perennial problem. I mean, it will be interesting to see. where Prince William stays when he visits Wales, so I'm sure they'll use some of these properties, right? No, this is the interesting point. The aid to Wales was very clear recently. In fact, I said they would go. to use this fancy property and they said no, they were going to stay at a local B and B type hotel because they want to publicize the businesses in the area and they effectively made it clear that he has no plans to use their property at all, It doesn't mean the property we waste because it's always a vacation rental, but he will go and stay in different places, it's a good opportunity, so for local hotel owners, you know yes, absolutely, you have a place to stay fit . a future king yes Wales is lovely at this time of year yes let's move on to some of your comments now and we received lots of praise after our special episode on the king with Richard K and if you missed it come back and check it out later from this.
Meanwhile, Louise Kant wrote supporting the idea that the Princess Royal could have a role in helping the king manage the family. It was always said that the late Queen ruled the country while Philip ruled the family and since Camilla married into the family quite late, it's difficult. Seeing her in a similar role to Philip, but I can clearly see Princess Anne in this role. Meanwhile, Mary Kale thinks that Charles is doing very well in that department and says that what the queen did with Andrew was put distance between the rogues and the parts of the family that do official business.
It is Crystal Clear who represents the family. and who doesn't make any changes. I think Charles is fine. Kathy Edens, no relation, commented on the story that it was reported that the King was frustrated because his job was being overshadowed by that of Wales and she writes that Charles has to realize that he cannot expect William and Catherine to take on more and more royal duties but receive no additional press, as a result, staying with Wales is Stephanie Shang, who has nothing to do but pray for The way William and Catherine approach family life, she says it's very smart of William Catherine to prioritize their children about royal duties.
Raising emotionally healthy and stable children is best for everyone. We have seen the effects of the opposite and it is not good. No comment. Well, the Duke of Sussex is back in London and back in

court

this week giving evidence in a civil case against the editors of the Daily Mirror newspaper, who he claims were hacking into his phone. Claims that the group denies. Daily Mail chief reporter Sam Greenhill. has been following the case for another week and another High Court case involving Prince Harry, this time the Duke of Sussex has been in the witness box.
It is a historic moment. It is the first time in more than 100 years that a senior royal has given testimony and the world press. Harry, the ex-soldier, is seen struggling to prove that he is the victim of a tabloid phone hacking. He spent a grueling day and a half on the witness stand and was challenged to justify his claims. Mirror group newspapers say there is no evidence their titles ever hacked Prince Harry KC newspapers Andrew Green said the evidence was zero nothing at all but Harry says unscrupulous journalists listen to his voicemails on an industrial scale a Throughout his life from childhood at Ludgrave School and through Eaton and his Army days and into adulthood, he says he was hacked almost daily.
The stories were intrusive and cruel and Harry said they ruined some of his friendships and relationships. There was one based on the rumor that James Hewitt was really his father. He said that made him afraid. could be expelled from the royal family, another story told of him referring to his mother Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Barrel, as a two-sided and then rude word that started with s and ended in other stories with a, such as when he had a secret dinner with the late television presenter Caroline Flack. He said all of these stories came from hacking.
There was another article about his girlfriend Chelsea Davey supposedly furious with him for attending a lap dancing club. Harry said that story came from hacking, but he also told Judge that it was full of inaccuracies. He said the idea that there was a nude dancer looking like Chelsea Davey was not true. He said that she was supposedly a Lithuanian erotic dancer sitting on my lap. He told the Mr Justice fan court that the newspaper group now denies it. ever hacking the prince, says that many of the stories Harry complains about were actually published in other newspapers, sometimes days or even weeks before they appeared in the mirror, one or two were on the BBC and in some cases came from official statements from the Palace and Harry An article was shown that actually came from an interview that he himself had given a few days earlier to the Mirrors.
KC Andrew Green said if Harry thought these stories came from piracythen he was in the land of total speculation on his second day at the witness. box Harry was much more optimistic and confident, he said the stories in the People newspaper were very suspicious because they cited Palace sources and this was at a time, he said, when he and Chelsea were being incredibly careful and the

palace

, he said, didn't. knew. anything accused the newspaper of destroying large amounts of evidence to cover up his criminality at the end of his evidence Harry seemed on the verge of tears, but his part in this case is over, now it's up to the judge and I think it will be several months before Mr Justice Court fan say who beat Sam Green Hill, well back to my panel Rebecca Harry bashing the media, that's one thing, we're all pretty clear where she stands on this, but having a pop in the government it will surely have We discussed some in the

palace

in the government, I think also because obviously the convention between the royal family and the government is that they do not criticize each other because they are obviously parts of the type of organization that governs.
We, um, what Harry did was enter, uh, the witness stand. In any statement, he said that he basically believes that not only did he make them when the media in this country hit rock bottom, but he believes that the government has hit rock bottom, which is a pretty strong statement to make from a working royal or not exactly and again this shows you the kind of situation where you know Harry is very confused in his approach because he says I'm no longer a working royal but then he says to the court and he says I'm here as a member of the royal family doing what I think is right, so you can't really have it both ways and that put our Prime Minister Rishi Suma Sunac in the unenviable position of being asked by journalists what do you have to say something about? this?
And he said it very clearly and maybe a little

awkward

ly. Well, obviously, by convention, I don't think I should comment on the royal family or what they've said, but I would like to say that I think this country. and this government is doing great things for Britain. So the fact that Harry said that put the Prime Minister in a position of having to respond, which was very uncomfortable. Do you think this was talking about the Orcos hashtag? The children might tell that Richard will surely make things difficult for Harry's father and brother. I think so, but it means that at least you know that they can say that he's no longer part of our kind of company like yeah, he's a member of the royal family and he made it clear, you know, at the beginning of his witness statement and he made it clear. very clear in court, um, but you know he's no longer a part, they can say, well, that's almost why we got rid of him, kind of like um, you know. because of this WOW but he got rid of himself but yeah but it's a very difficult situation it's useless to everyone it's useless to the government and it's not useful to the royal family yeah what did you think Rebecca of um for the version of how the things won't necessarily have made sense, right?
Yeah, I mean, without being too naval gay. I mean, I think his evidence showed that he has a basic lack of understanding about legitimate news gathering and also an unwillingness to understand why he has in his head he has such a defined view of what he believes the media is and not he's really willing to deviate from that, but I also think he shows his or he showed this week his kind of disdain for new stories, you know how he feels. This should be of public interest in the newsworthiness of him. He clearly disagrees not only with the newspapers but also with the broadcasters with what they feel is interesting to their readers and viewers and I think what we saw this week was a combination of his disdain for you know. the industry in general and what people are eager to consume and what he believes is right for them to consume and you know, it's in itself a legislative issue that's just a point of view, right?
I would say it. It's a point of view and I think it's been expressed in court, but whether that's really relevant to the case he's presenting, I'm not so sure Richard, do you think it's fair to say that? I mean, obviously, Harry being a royal in the dock is history-making, but it's also for him, it would be different to any interrogation he's ever had before, how do you think he's doing with that? I mean, this whole case to me is just

extraordinary

, I mean, I appreciate that it's a civil case rather than a criminal one, so it's a very different bar, but I mean, you know, there he is, he's admitting that he doesn't have any evidence. of the case, he's saying, you know, these various stories have come out.
I guess I have my suspicions, but he admitted, you know? there's no evidence that legal methods were used, I mean, for him it's been uncomfortable, you know, he had five hours of interrogation by King Andrew Green's Council and it was very uncomfortable, I mean, over the years, He has given the odd interview, but they have always been very gentle and kind, they allow him to make the points he wants, but this has put him in trouble because you know that Barrister is there to ask difficult questions to try to discover the truth. he's not there just to let him tell his truth like we've seen in the terrible Oprah Winfrey interview, he's trying to get to the real truth and that's something you know is a completely different matter for Harry, so Richard is an intriguing line. from his

confidential

Palace newsletter this week that royal sources have told him, quote, that there has never been so much relief that Harry and Megan have abandoned their royal duties, well, imagine, I mean, you know Harry has made it clear who now sees that his kind of life is The mission is, you know, to radically change the media in Britain and, clearly, the government too, judging by his latest comments, so it is a relief that he is now gone trying to do that from within the royal family.
You know, I mean one of his big complaints. As described in his Memoirs, it was just the fact that the rest of the royal family and the courtiers and everyone would not support him in this Mission, he wanted to start several court cases, um and it was reluctance and well, this shows why I want say, you know. Washington Dirty Linen in public, you know all these very uncomfortable questions and you know it's not good for the royal family or anyone, so I think they're very relieved that I'm doing it as an independent litigator and not on behalf of anyone.
Otherwise, yes, and Rebecca, do you think it's fair to say that obviously the government's discomfort decides that Harry hasn't really strayed in too many areas that would worry the palace enormously? I mean, certainly, he hasn't gone to the extreme of anything that we. I've seen it in any of his interviews or you know too well exactly. That's what he said. I think the whole decision to go ahead with this and appear in court is uncomfortable for the royal family. It's not the path they would choose and he has of course, within the court case, he made certain statements, like he reiterated the fact that he believes that his uh, because this has never been confirmed, I must emphasize that his brother, the Prince William, accepted a private agreement from the newspaper group.
Now obviously William has the right to do it and he has the right to keep it private if you say wishes because there may be very specific reasons why he wants to keep it private, we don't know, but of course Harry decided to make it public before it started the case and reiterated it in the testimony. box, so he's actually making statements that his family clearly hasn't given him permission to make, so it hasn't been as bad as it might have been for them, I don't think, but it clearly hasn't been entirely comfortable, well , go ahead. just for a second Rebecca, you're leaving for a real engagement right after this Your life is so glamorous well, literally, over there, literally over there, um, I don't know if you'll ever be able to see out the windows, Edge, but we're . very close to Lambeth Palace which is not only the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury but they also have this amazing place called The Garden Museum and the queen will be there.
I can say this now because of course when the time comes. When the show comes out, the engagement will be over, but she's there as part of her annual flower festival, but Alan Titch March, who is obviously a very popular presenter in the UK, will also be there, Shane Conley, who actually designed those, will be there. incredible. Arrangements on the floor at the coronation and there is an amazing charity called Floral Angels, so she is their patron. She came up with this wonderful idea of all these big events in London, not just raw events. Society events.
You've probably seen amazing decorations at some of these events. they go around after the events have finished and take the arrangements and then reuse them and take them to children's hospices and community centers in London and they are a great very small charity with volunteer staff so they are I'll be there , a big thank you to Floral Age. I suspect that the gardener Alan Tits Marsh might want to tell you his favorite story, which was when he went to collect his honor from the queen and she said that you have given many a lady a It gives me great pleasure to explain that it is one of housewives in the UK and what a glorious day it is today in London for such an occasion.
Do you think you could sneak Richard and I out and come? I'll pretend to be a garden gnome. I'm sure that's not the first thing Richardson has ruled out, or I, as promised, have more royal babies. My idea for a montage, all those unflattering pieces from Harry's court and the court sketches that were discarded in the instead of meeting, let's go sweetly, here's a look at some of our favorite baby photos, thank you , thank you, thank you, foreigner, we don't have to wait too long for another cute baby to arrive and a reminder that if you enjoy our content, remember to like and subscribe so you don't miss any of our real shows like this.
